Don’t be silly that’s just a symptom of “The Woke Mind Virus” I think my eyes got stuck in the back of my head just posting that.
I’m not so sure about that. In the primary, she’s competing against other Republicans (almost certainly other Republicans about as far right as she is, for that matter), so the redness of the district doesn’t particularly help her. Her name recognition might be an advantage, but it might also be a disadvantage now that the name is on a big fat “CARPETBAGGER” tag.
Back in 2012 when Dennis Kucinich got redistricted out of his safe seat in Ohio, there was a small groundswell of people here in Olympia who tried to “draft” him to run in the brand-new district we’d just picked up.
It went nowhere, I suspect for much of the same reason.
I sometimes wonder, if forced to choose one or the other, whether I prefer stupidity like this, where it has a clear origin in actual reality that has been distorted (deliberately or not), or just flat out lies created out of thin air.
Earlier tonight, Green Day performed “American Idiot” on live TV from Times Square, and Billie Joe Armstrong changed the lyric “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda” to “I’m not a part of a MAGA agenda”.
Not surprisingly, this has set off a number of MAGA snowflakes who are bewildered that Green Day would shoehorn politics into “American Idiot” and wondering why they went woke all of a sudden.
Reminds me of a few years back, my buddies went to Coachella to hear (amongst many things) Roger Waters, who then apparently went on an anti Trump tirade. My buddies then recounted how many people were pissed off and screamed about keeping politics out of music, as if they had never heard Roger Waters or Pink Floyd before, yet paid over 300 bucks to be there.
“Keep to music”? Didn’t Trump visit the White House and consult with Trump about North Korea? And there’s that MAGA rapper guy?
Well, that’s to be expected.
BAH! I meant “Kid” Rock. Typing after staying up till midnight is not recommended.
And of course the well-thought-out opinions of Ted Nugent are always valued in Republican circles.
There was a stupid Republican supervisor at a job of mine who was complaining that Neil Young ruined a show by making it political. He contended that the concert was the wrong place for it.
I said: Like Ted Nugent?
He said: Well, but Ted’s got a point.
Perhaps they thought that “Another Brick in the Wall” was from the perspective of a stonemason?
Many moons ago, I went to a Lollapalooza in NC and the lead singer of Jane’s Addiction kept ranting about how we should run Jess Helms out of office. I agreed with him, but he sucked the life out of the venue with his sanctimonious whining. It’s poor form to alienate your audience with politics when they’re just wanting to forget all that shit and have fun. (but way to go Green Day)
I hate, hate, HATE that. “Know your place, boy”. Fuck this guy. Like any of these pukes were Green Day fans anyway.
I have to assume anyone bitching about Green Day being “political” aren’t really Green Day fans. Again, I was pissed I didn’t get to see it. grumble.
It would be like bitching about Billy Bragg because he sings about how great unions are…
Sinead O’Connor did seem to be concerned with making comparisons between things, but I don’t think any of the things she compared were political.
So you are saying Nothing Compares 2 U?
