Noted insurrectionist and coward Josh Hawley, who claims to be against socialism, is demanding that Biden nationalize an aluminum plant that the Job Creators have decided to close.
A bill being proposed in Iowa would require all students to sing one verse of the national anthem every day, and all verses on “patriotic” holidays. As if the typical school day has lots of free time. Students and teachers could choose not to participate at their peril (my viewpoint added). Oh yeah, this applies only to public and charter schools; private schools are exempt.
All four verses? Almost no one ever sings anything past the first verse. I’ll bet that most people (me included) even remember the rest. The only good news is that school is not in session on most “patriotic” holidays.
In the same article they mention another bill that “would have required schools to teach, and to test students’ understanding of, dozens of concepts including altruism, cheerfulness, cleanliness, compassion, dignity, diligence, faith, forbearance, honesty, industry, loyalty, moderation, prudence, reliability, temperance and self-reliance.”
(I’m guessing you accidentally left out “don’t” after the parens.)
I think this is the last verse, from memory. (Honest to Og, I didn’t look this up before posting.)
Oh thus be it ever, when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation.
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n-rescued land
Praise the pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto, In God is Our Trust.
And the Star Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Anyone else here remember any of the others?
FYI, I went to college at Francis Scott Key’s alma mater, but that’s coincidental. I memorized this verse before I started there.

Which, as a native San Diegan, makes me laugh because of how geographically ludicrous that idea is, as explained below…
