Indeed. The Boston Garden sports arena has been through two or three corporate-sponsor names but everyone still just calls it “The Gahd’n.” Locals don’t give a toss for such renamings.

That is undeniably true. However, one Ridiculous Guy at the top can be gotten around given motivated-enough reasoning. But a government completely riddled with Ridiculous People will be harder for even the most autocratically-minded to explain to themselves.
How many Trump fans actually respect Gym, Greene, Stephen Miller, and Steve Bannon? Don’t they, instead, simply enjoy their awfulness (because it Makes Libruls Cry) rather than actually revering them as competent, admirable people?
(I don’t know the answer. But I suspect the delusional thinking of Trump fans extends to Trump, but doesn’t quite cover the embarrassing reality of Trump’s lieutenants.)
I strongly suspect that the majority of MAGAts are only dimly aware of the existence of the aforementioned. They are bit players. Trump sucks up 99.9% of the oxygen in Trump-World.
