NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

That’s just brilliant. It gave them approximately 3.75 minutes to overrun the border.
Wheeeee

It’s those cantaloupe calves. Lets them really tear it.

Oh, but wouldn’t it be sweet if abortion was the issue that finally made them realize what the rest of us have known all along - that Trump has no actual policy beliefs beyond Tax Cuts and Money For Trump, and that the only basis for anything he says is, “Will this gain or lose votes”? That he’ll waffle on any and every issue until he finds the sweet spot of maximizing the votes, and afterward, his “Promises” are worthless.

You mean “Holy Suburban Reclamation Friends”? Getting your house re-built using insurance and tax money is a leg up for thousands of Real Americans™ every year!

If a Republican congress passes a national abortion ban, Trump will sign it and Democrats better be campaigning on that prediction.

Behold Biden’s latest ad:

Can you recap? It looks sad and I don’t need the kids asking why I’m weepy at work.

It’s one of the cases where a woman was denied a medically-necessary abortion. They’re going though a box of baby stuff they’d bought in anticipation of the birth, but then complications led to a miscarriage, and because the doctors weren’t allowed to treat her properly, she developed infections that almost killed her, and may have made it impossible to get pregnant ever again.

The tag line is “Trump did this”.

Thanks!

But wouldn’t they still stick with him against Biden, if they figure Biden (a) is a guy who keeps his promises about abortion, and Biden (b) promises to do what they don’t want on abortion? If it’s a roll of the dice with Trump, but a sure thing in the wrong direction with Biden, then — what?

That is one powerful ad. Wow. And the tagline was brilliant.

As always, the hope is that they’d just stay home, and not vote. Gaining a vote for Biden is better, but just losing votes for Trump will probably be enough.

After all, at this point, they have a big chunk of what they wanted. RvW is gone, and at least some states are enacting anti-abortion legislation. It will take years to roll that back, even if Biden wins. And if there’s a divided Congress again, no federal legislation permitting abortion will ever pass. Sure, they’d prefer a President and Congress who would ban abortion outright, but if that’s not in the cards, they’ll settle for what they have now, and keep fighting on the State level, where they’ve already had a lot of success.

“What, did Trump get her pregnant?”

Ads like this are targeted at the waffling “independent” voters, not MAGAts.

Or, they could, as Jon Stewart suggested yesterday, just…wait until night time.

Are you trying to tell me that waiting until it’s a bit darker than usual out, for just a few minutes, in the middle of the day, with half the country standing outside actively looking around, isn’t a good time to run across the border and do a bunch of crimes?

I also happened to see some of Fox News’ coverage of the eclipse last Sunday (our washing machine is broken, and the laundromat had Fox News on; it wasn’t my fault!).

Anyway, in addition to talking in general about how people were looking forward to it, be sure to use safety goggles or a pinhole viewer, etc., they also had a little chart down in the corner, noting how solar power generation was going to drop off precipitously during the eclipse.

Remember, folks, solar power is unreliable during eclipses! Fossil fuels are the way to go!

Well, not a bunch obviously, but at least one good crime, like voting Democratic or dropping an anchor baby.

Isn’t that a bit too nanny state for them? Who are those elitist egg heads to tell me what I should or shouldn’t look at. Goggles are just masks for the eyes.

The sad part it, that’s actually kind of a cool thing to track, if you’re not doing just to be a shitbag. It reminds me of the summer I occasionally worked in a university particle accelerator lab. They had a series of individual labs spread along the beam path, and when someone was running an experiment, you could see the beam being switched down the line by the radiation detectors in each lab going off in sequence.
