Dr. Skop is well placed and knows her role well. She is on the maternal death committee in order to analyze and weigh all of the evidence on maternal deaths of women who wanted but couldn’t get an abortion, and then apply all of her medical training to find a reason why an abortion wouldn’t have saved those mothers’ lives.
