As implied by the article, the town council had been practicing their own tiny version of apartheid for over six decades.

Idaho is pretty far gone into batshit politics - but including a T-72 tank in your invitation to a Change of Command Ceremony for their National Guard is a bit much.

I realize it is a tiny town but isn’t there a town charter or some other document formalizing how the town council is to be run under the law? I’m not surprised a bunch of racists would ignore the law to do something like this but I am surprised they would get away with it for so long.

Obviously someone did or this lawsuit wouldn’t have been filed. What I’m asking is about a town charter establishing how elections were to be held. Clearly no one here has that info so I’ll just drop it.
A charter isn’t worth much if the people in power decide they can ignore it and are willing to use their police and other power to punish anyone who tries to buck the system. Especially if most of the folks living there don’t care or don’t want to stir up trouble for themselves.

Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, removed the Combat Infantryman Badge from his lapel Wednesday more than a month after it was revealed the Army revoked the award last year because he was never eligible for it in the first place.
But Nehls would not directly answer when reporters pressed him on whether he would never wear the pin again, instead blasting “vultures” in the media for focusing on the badge.

While the pin was missing, Nehls still refused to concede that he was not eligible for the award and suggested he only removed it to quiet the “dishonest” media.
Anthony Anderson, an Army veteran who runs Guardian of Valor, told Military.com on Wednesday that he is “going to give it a few days to see” if Nehls puts the pin back on but that he suspects Nehls took the badge off in hopes criticism dies down without him having to admit wrongdoing.
Sure, just absentmindedly forget where your gun might be! That’s the mark of a great public servant.
