NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

I certainly do from here in scenic Lebensraum, AB. Who else is responsible for this cavalcade of stupid?

As someone who’s read a fair amount on ADHD — after years of wondering, I was finally diagnosed at age 76 — I suspect the bolded part is a significant factor. Impulsive behavior is a hallmark of ADHD; it took me considerable effort to control it, but I doubt the Orange Peril has ever tried (or acknowledged it was a problem).

It would appear that the doctor is unacquainted with much of medical history, as recounted here:

I can recommend it, for the horrified pleasure of reading it and the tactile delight of a well-made volume,

I was thinking of the novel The Widow Nash by Jamie Harrison where one of the main characters is being treated (around 1900) for syphilis with large doses of mercury and being exposed to malaria…

As recounted in an old English folk song which inspired Streets of Laredo among other things;

Had she but told me, before she disordered me
Had she but warned me of it in time
I might have took pills and salts of white mercury
Now I’m a young man cut down in my prime

Marko Elez is 25 according to every mainstream source. So not a teenager, and not a “kid” as JD portrays him (ah, poor little kid, how can we punish him for doing something stupid online?!?!?!?!)

And Elon’s “poll” is clearly worded in an entirely disingenuous way. “Inappropriate statements” is being used to describe Elez’s clear and purposeful presentation of himself:

  • “Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool”
  • “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity”
  • “Normalize Indian hate”

Those are the X posts we’ve been told about. None seem to be accidental.

This is a done deal, of course, and both Donald and Elon clearly will openly reward racism and hate-mongering as best they can.

The blatant fakery of the defenses of this individual (“kid” and “inappropriate” etc.) is so very, very Republican, though. 'We know our excuses for this are lame but we have all the power and you can’t do anything about it,’ in effect.

Brought back? Hell, they’ll have him in a Super Bowl suite along with murderers and other criminals. (See Daniel Penny/Kyle Rittenhouse…et al).

Own the libs, dontchaknow.

ACK! Still can’t find the Philly Guy post claiming the opposite - something about Trump’s 3-d chessosity.

Secretary Hegseth requests $137k to improve the government-furnished house in which he’ll live in DC. House Democrats send him a letter asking him to justify this expense, which includes $49k for an ‘emergency’ paint job. Jen Griffin, Hegseth’s former colleague at FOX, reports on the letter via her Xitter account. Hegseth is pissed that the letter came to light, calls it ‘Fake News of the Day’, even though there’s absolutely nothing fake about the report.

Pete? Almost every thing you need to know is in Dexter, setting up a kill room isn’t that difficult.

Pfft. Hegseth would trip drunkenly on the plastic tarp and that would be that.

At least one red state is suddenly concerned about the loss of Federal dollars due to the latest administration cuts.

Currently, some universities receive 50% or more of the amount of a grant to put toward support staff and other needs, but that would be capped at 15%, according to AP.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Alabama in Huntsville are examples of the state institutions that could be affected by the cuts.

UAB alone has received more than a billion dollars in NIH funding in recent years, AL.com’s John Archibald reports. UAH also receives NIH funding, university spokesman Russell Nelson said Saturday but couldn’t say how much.

Steve Ammons, president of the Birmingham Business Alliance, said he was unsure of the specifics of the cuts, “but certainly any reduction in funding would be a hit to UAB since they were in the top 30 for 2024 for NIH funding. Certainly something we need to watch and make sure we advocate for the state’s largest employer.”

From al.com, an Alabama news website.

Trump may well grant exceptions (to cuts) to red states.

After all, he proved in his first term that he doesn’t give a rodent’s ass about running up deficits. He’ll give the wealthy their tax cuts, save red states from cuts, and just change the subject when the deficit is mentioned.

Yup, because grad students and universities love nothing better than knowing their funding is at risk of being cut on any given day with little recourse due to being subject to the whims of a petulant man-child.

Do any of us subject to that petulant man-child “love” it? (Well, any of us not deranged by cultism or by the prospect of [maybe] being able to cash in, in his corrupt wake, anyway.)

If Trump grants exceptions to researchers and academics in red states, that won’t make life wonderful for them. For one thing, virtually all research relies on the availability of accurate and reliable data from federal agencies. Trump and his flying monkeys have pretty much guaranteed that there won’t be any more of that.

It’s the new dark ages. Some in red states may be able to go on buying groceries if Dear Leader grants them a reprieve from unemployment—but not much science/medicine is going to be happening from here on out, whether in red states or blue.

Kendrick Lamar: sings a song about Drake being a pedophile
Matt Gaetz: Clearly this is a Deep State attack on Donald Trump

He does know that “the regime” is Trump, right?

He heard the line “certified pedophile” and thought of his god-king. He’s not too bright.

“Kendrick Lamar gave Drake a break during the Super Bowl Halftime show by rapping “Not Like Us” … but the ‘pedophile’ line was nowhere to be heard, and Kendrick made it clear – it was just too risky.”

Meanwhile, the rest of the usual suspects are saying “hold my beer”;
