I don’t feel insulted, but you misunderstood me. I don’t see anything redeeming about her, she is a horrible, selfish, attention seeking twit. I despise the fact that she is making certain stereotypes about GED recipients seem true. She’s an idiot, and I would not be at all surprised if the rumors you mentioned are true. It would actually explain a lot. I’ve known people who have taken the GED. It is a somewhat difficult test, and I can’t imagine a shallow joker like her actually doing the work and having the brain power to actually pass it.
FWIW, 22 members of congress have only a high school education (or GED).
I think with Boebert, the issue isn’t that she has a GED, it’s that she’s stupid. But people conflate the two and it’s easier and quicker to make fun of her GED situation than come up with concrete examples of her being stupid.
It’s unfortunate in that it puts that much more stigma on having a GED. As I saw people on reddit saying, make fun of her for being stupid, not for having a GED.
On the other hand, making fun of her for getting a GED is like making fun of someone for graduating high school after repeating their senior year 4 times. You did it, but maybe you shouldn’t be one of the people running the country and making decisions for the rest of us (especially when it comes to decisions about education).
My first guess (or, rather, my concern) is that she’s just acting as a distraction. I could certainly see someone that needs/wants to do something without the entire country noticing and offering her something in exchange for her rodeo clown services.
However, this is nothing new for her. It’s either who she actually is or it’s an act for attention, but I don’t think it’s something she’s doing for hire. This article was written before she was a member of congress and covers her arrests going back to 2010.
Sorry for the hijack but given that the primary job of Congress is to draft and vote on laws, law school attendance might be expected from most members. Uneducated representatives are one reason why we have laws drafted by lobbyists and special interest groups.
Is there a good citation for this claim? I’ve heard it multiple times but trying to research it I only see it on blogs, twitter and Reddit. Its well established that got the GED one month before the primary after a “four course study” but I’m not finding a good source for the multiple tries claim.
I trust their suppliers can certify that all beans are harvested by slave labor on land that was recently burned rain forest. Otherwise its too woke for me.
So says Snopes – no mention of her failing it numerous times (seems as though she only got it in order to be elected), and they do not give the name of the ringer who took it for her.
TBF, if one has just passed such a test, the info should be fairly fresh in one’s sieve mind.
You are counting the non-voters, I assume. Most likely around 20~25% of those eligible to vote either DNGAFF or simply lack the motivation/intellect to GAF.
Of the remaining 8~13%, they do understand the issues but fail to see the value in supporting one side or the other, or feel such crushing despair from voting for shit vs turds that “fuck it” is the response that they can gin up.
To say that non-voters are “just fine with” the CFSG is a pathetic misrepresentation of the situation.
