Yeah found out he went to the NFL network
Wait, why would the NFL ban Tirico? I don’t especially like him, but nobody can say he doesn’t have enough experience or whatever, and I haven’t heard of him doing anything outrageous in or out of the booth. What’s the deal?
It’s in the deadspin article:
Basically, the same NFL that puts a uniform police figure on the field at every game also micromanages its prime network properties too.
I thought this would have a thread all to itself but haven’t seen one. Apparently in right wing America, freedom means being free to do as right wingers expect you to do.
Cut him some slack, he was just practicing his position for the rest of his career.
Weird trade: Browns send the Panthers 34 year old punter Andy Lee and a 7th round pick for a 2018 4th round pick and their punter Redfern.
That’s quite a strange trade. A 4th rounder for a punter. A draft pick 2 years away. A 34 year old punter.
Andy Lee is actually really good and the Browns will be setting a record for most punts in a season this year so I think they probably should’ve kept him, but I guess you have to take a 4th rounder for a punter.
They also just released Paul Kruger which I think was a bad move. He was overpaid, not a great pass rusher, but the rest of the defense is a completely dumpster fire - so having a guy who at least knew his responsibilities and could execute them competantly made him a top 4 player in that defense. Sure, he was overpaid, but you’re 40m+ below the cap, who cares?
Teddy Bridgewater goes down with a non contact injury. A lot of the news reports and blog posts are saying it doesn’t look good at all.
NBC Sports - ProFootballTalk: Vikings stop practice after Bridgewater goes down, clutches at left knee
They reported other players immediately praying and/or cussing, and the ambulance was called out onto the field quickly. None of that is ever good.
The last Browns preseason game included Jackson cussing Lee out for not hustling to make a tackle. Maybe the new coach is trying to send a message to the rest of the team.
Besides, kickers are mostly interchangeable anyway, so a younger one who costs less is an attractive proposition.
Bridgewater out for the year with a torn ACL.
Let’s go Shaun Hill! Not a great QB by any stretch, but surprisingly he’s hung around the NFL for 15 years, undrafted out of Maryland, including a few long stretches as the starter (always being brought in as the backup, but still). Probably fast approaching the end for him, but as far as the Vikings are concerned there are much, much worse alternatives.
Wonder if the Vikes will be in the trade market. Brian Hoyer and Chase Daniels got solid contracts to be backups and might be viable starters for the Vikings, but I’m not sure what it would take for the Bears and Eagles to part with them…probably more than the Vikes would offer.
There’s gonna be a fair number of guys on the scrap heap this week after cuts. Sanchez, Josh McCown, Glennon, Geno Smith, Mettenberger would be under consideration, but those guys are pretty dicey and on the bubble or cut for a reason.
I’d say there’s zero chance Hill plays 16 games, so they gotta get something.
Even though it likely helps the Packers, I feed bad when a player gets injured. (except for possibly N. Suh – I wouldn’t feel too bad if he got injured. Not in a coma or anything, but maybe a fractured fibula)

Freedom is a two way street.
Yep. Sam Bradford from the Eagles for a 1st round pick next year, a 4th the year after.
Now there’s a desperation Hail Mary if there ever was one. It’s a lateral move. Frankly I think they’re better off with Hill.
Good deal for the Eagles, though. Guess we’ll be seeing Wentz a whole lot earlier than anyone thought.
Well the most important skill in their QB is handing it to AP. At least he has practice doing that.
Wow, the Vikings’ front office is bad at football stuff. A 1st and 4th (with the potential to become a 2nd or 3rd) for a guy who’s super-fragile and who’s ceiling appears to be “league-average QB.” It would be one thing if the rest of the team was awesome and Bridgewater’s injury was torpedoing a presumed Super Bowl run, but the Vikings look for all the world like an average team that apparently is desperately trying to get to 9-7 and the second wild card spot.
Plus, even if Bradford has a good season all they’ve done is create a QB controversy when Bridgewater comes back next year. Best case scenario Bradford plays well and the Vikings find a trade partner for him and recoup some of what they spent? Bah, glad I’m not Vikings fan.
After all the Bradford drama, I probably should have projected a Bradford trade instead of Daniels, but I would never have thought they’d pay anything close to that price. It’s frankly insane.
I think Bridgewater sucks and is wildly overrated, so I’m not shocked they’d add a guy like Bradford, but even if they had no one at QB Bradford isn’t worth a 1st and a 4th. They must really think that Bridgewater’s career is over. If Bradford gets hurt again and they are picking in the top 10, well the Eagles just hit the fucking lottery.
The conspiracy theorist would say that this trade happened because Philly didn’t have a 1st round pick until now and they’re hosting the draft next year.
