NFL Week 15

Maybe we’ll even have a winning record as division champs. Um… yay ?

I tell you it’s bittersweet to root for my struggling home team to eke out a division win with a .500-ish record while at the same time watching the Panthers, the Cardinals, and the Pack just dominate.

One small note about the eagles/skins game next week

Deshawn Jackson didn’t play in the first game and the skins still won:)

Why is the Monday night game so often a crappy one? We get Detroit at New Orleans tonight. Outside of having Theo Riddick on a Draftkings lineup, I couldn’t care less. Last week was Giants/Dolphins. Yuck. A few weeks ago we got Pats/Broncos, but it’s usually 2 gross teams.

RG3 had an OK line, on a playoff team, and wasn’t especially beat up as a rookie. He had one big injury late in his rookie year.

You can also make a list of guys who spent their first couple years playing on crappy teams and who used that adversity to become better players in the long run. Troy Aikman, Peyton Manning, etc.

The rules require each team to get prime time slots, so there have to be some clunkers. They usually come at the end of the season, because those will usually be inter-division games with playoff implications, which helps offset the low quality.

Also, the season is scheduled long before anyone know who will actually be any good. DET and NO were supposed to be contenders this year.

And unlike the Sunday Night games, Monday night games can’t be flexed.

While the Cardinals, Bengals, Panthers, Packers and Patriots get most of the love, I wonder if people remember that the KC CHiefs have won eight in a row and with two road kills coming up, could enter the playoffs with a 10-game winning streak; or the Seahawks, who started so miseably everyone sort of forgot them, but seem to have remembered how to play the game. And then you have the Steelers, who are scoring points like the Baylor Bears.

I don’t think any of the “big 5” really would be happy drawing any of those three in the first round.

Looks like this could be a very interesting playoff season…

Yup, another crappy game I won’t be watching

Grosser than you think - the Patriots-Broncos game was a Sunday night game.

I agree, iI’m looking forward to these matchups.

Why does ESPN specialize in crappy monday games I wonder?

Just saw that nobody has actually answered you. You probably remember a lot of it, but he was a controversial figure in college because of allegations that his father/he had accepted cash in order for him to attend Auburn after he dominated at junior college. I don’t remember for sure, but I think maybe there was a finding/hard evidence that his dad at least had solicited money, or something. Anyway, he went to Auburn, was incredibly great (and black, let’s be honest), and he did his dancing and his talking and his smiling while playing against other SEC schools and, you know, their fans, won the Heisman and the national championship, and pretty much everyone hated him as a sports figure, including here.

The narrative carried over into the NFL a little bit, early on, and either contributed to or existed in addition to a lot of doubt/criticism about his likelihood of success as an NFL quarterback, so even his first couple of years his (in my opinion) pretty ideal attitude about being a quarterback was seen as cockiness or arrogance or whatever.

Wait until we roll through them all in the playoffs. You’ll feel better.

Well, he is black.

Why would Cam not be a lock to win the MVP at this point?

He’s a lock because he’ll the QB of an undefeated team. But if you ignore the Panthers’ record, I don’t think there’s any statistical argument for Cam being MVP.

And, FTR, I like Cam, when we’re not playing against him.

Statistics don’t show how important Cam is to the team. Especially what he adds to the running game. He ran a lot Sunday but sometimes he runs for only a few yards, but those few yards each gained crucial first downs.

I’m a big fan of Cam and even I think his celebrations are a bit too much. Some people don’t like it because he thinks it’s insulting the other team. Especially at Tennessee
one problem with his celebrating is its a sign of his un-even-keeldness

when they’re winning he’s all high and celebrating but when they lose he is sulking and pouty. which hasn’t been a problem this year because they’re undefeated. but in earlier years when they lost he acts like a crybaby

You wanna see more professionalism and evening out of highs and lows. Some celebrating is ok but pretending you’re flying around like Superman around the whole stadium seems like a bit much. The problem with how much fun Cam has when he’s winning his how down he gets when they lose and he drags down the rest of the team with his bad attitude

I would think if someone has 40 TD passes and team is 14-0, he has earned the right to celebrate

Every first down? I’ll admit the guy is having a great year, and I don’t “hate” him, but I think he should remember the immortal words of either Bear Bryant or Vince Lombardi:

Not every first down but if it’s a big one on 3rd and 12 late in the game then I see nothing wrong with it.
