Despite no passing game to take the pressure off the Cleveland rushing game is magnificent
Boy Bears/Niners was a ugly half of football. Good defensive play, but both QBs having a rough day passing the football. Its like watching Mid American NCAA football.
Carolina has dumb coaching. I thought CMC was injured and out of the game because they didn’t even use him until like halfway through the second quarter despite being wildly terrible on offense. No idea why they’re trying to force the Baker show when he’s pretty bad.
I think the refs are more responsible for Bears offense than the actual Bears offense.
I don’t think Matt Rhule will make it through the year.
25 to 10 minute TOP possession for the Browns. Their run game is completely dominating despite no passing game and the Panthers D being able to sell out against the run if they want to.
Chubb doesn’t get full recognition as probably the best runner in the NFL. He doesn’t make as many absolutely filthy highlight plays as some of the other guys, but he’s just so good at everything with no weakness, he always gets the best out of every situation. You could run a RB coaching class using pretty much every run he makes.
Really? We must watch/listen to different things, because nearly every single time Chubb is mentioned, it includes the phrase “maybe the best pure runner in the NFL”. In no way is he ever disrespected, and he’s constantly praised as one of the best in the NFL.
Yeah, you’re probably right.
He’s sort of like an inverse Barry Sanders. He doesn’t make the insane highlight plays that become all time highlights, but he gets the best out of every single situation consistently. He’s got a 5.3 YPC career average and while it’s unlikely his YPC improves as he ages, he’s conceivably within reach of the all time record (5.4, Jamaal Charles). He could beat the third place guy - Jim Brown.
Is it the rain, or does Soldier Field look like it’s in January form already?
I admit, I’m enjoying the Niners melting down against the Bears. They’re a legit Super Bowl contender, but the hubris of them selling out to draft Trey Lance and then insisting on starting him makes me love to see them lose. Congrats to the Bears, and especially Matt Eberflus, who had his overmatched team ready to play.
The rain, probably in combination with the fact that they just resodded it a few days ago, after the field got torn up during concerts this summer.
I have a feeling that that playing surface is going to be a continuing mess all year. Soldier Field seems to always have problems with a lousy playing surface, which is likely just another reason why the Bears are planning to move.
Rain. It help up pretty well until the last downpour.
Good lord did the Jets actually start Joe Flacco?!
Oh for fucks sake, if the Browns even had league average QB play this game they would’ve won by 30. This is fucking obnoxious. Stefanski choked with bad 4th quarter play calling for like the 20th time.
The end of the Steelers/Bengals is a thing of beauty. Football is fun.
And it looks like the Lions don’t have any quit. They also don’t have any defense, but good on Dan Campbell.
Holy shit the Browns kicker made an important kick for the first time since, like, Phil Dawson 15 years ago.
The Browns may have won that one based on a bad call which is something you don’t see very often, it almost always goes the other way. Brissett didn’t seem to know whether he wanted to spike it or not, so he snapped it, sort of checked his spike (kinda looked like a fake spike), then spiked it. That could probably be called as intentional grounding. But kind of a technicality I guess. It wouldn’t have been satisfying to lose on that call either. But Carolina fans were understandably pissed as I probably would be in the reverse situation.
The Carson Wentz experiment has a positive outcome to start. It’s certainly still a roller coaster ride. But as all the writers will say tomorrow, “They only beat Jacksonville, at home.”
