It’s better for Trump to lose the nomination and be thought a threat to democracy than to win it and remove all doubt.

Yeah. I don’t care much for her and I certainly wouldn’t vote for her but I think the country could still be fairly normal with her as POTUS.
There is no way it would be if Trump got another term. Especially since it probably means all of his serious crimes are being ignored.
I do not like her politics, but it does seem she is sane. So was Christie. DeSantis is not.

I basically agree with this. We have to remember that if Trump IS the GOP candidate, there are all kinds of people who can help him get votes he wouldn’t get without their help. There will be shenanigans with ballots that we haven’t even dreamed of, yet, in addition to the kind of stuff we saw in 2020 (“guarding” drop boxes and the like).
He could win with only 30% of the legitimate vote, what with the distorting factors of the Electoral College and the potential shenanigans.
It’s too much of a chance to take. If there’s any way that Haley (or equivalent) could win, we have to hope that it will go down that way.

I think she’s trying to be too cute by half. She wants to pass herself off as the sane alternative to the criminally insane, but she also tells her crowds that she thought that DJT was the best president for the time. Bullshit- there never has been nor will there ever be a time where Donnie would be the best president. She’s trying to run against the mob leader while trying not to offend the lynch mob. Christie may have fizzled out, but at least he wasn’t afraid to tell us that the former emperor had no clothes.

I truly wish that any media aspiring towards being relatively nonpartisan both lessen the references to Trump - no, I do not consider his every utterance to be legitimate “news” - and to preface any reference to Trump and his campaign with a reference to his being an unprecedented threat to democracy as we have known it for the past 150 years.

Are we sure about that? I think the whole party is an existential threat and see no reason why she would be any different. Trump is a symptom of what the GOP has become, not the cause.

Yes, Haley would be all-in on turning Social Security into a profit-making scheme for corporations, ending Medicaid and eventually Medicare, keeping women fully second-class citizens (and pumping out babies), and making sure taxes on the working class double, triple, quadruple…etc.

I will acquit her of planning to declare herself President-for-Life. But in every other way, she will be very, very close to being ‘as bad as Trump.’
In other words she’d be about a bad as Bush was.
That’s a very good reason not to vote for her.
I have no intention of voting for her. She’s just objectively much better than Trump. She won’t start an insurrection at least which admittedly is a low bar.
