I’m not sure that the combo of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld is worse than Trump 2016-2020. Remember the whole Gitmo torture thing? And the Bush administration’s determination to kill everyone in the Middle East who dissed his Pa?
Trump 2024 is ramping it up a notch, but I don’t think it’s a good thing to whitewash the determined evil of the Bush administration.
Yeah, as of right now, I think Dubya did a lot more concrete damage than Trump did. Dubya got a lot of people needlessly killed through his direct decisions. 9/11 also happened on his watch.
OTOH, Trump is far and away the most unpresidential president of all time and has purposely worsened our social divide. Then there was the whole trying to overthrow the government thing.
It’s a tossup as to who was worse; it depends on what you focus.
Add in the feckless Buchanan, and I think those three are easily the Top 3 Worst Presidents.
I doubt Haley could be as bad as any of them even if she tried hard.
IMO, what Trump has done to us as a people and a country is the worst thing a president has done in my 70 years. YMMV.

Haley comes in 3rd in Iowa. She was polling well, but her support was tepid and I guess they just didn’t want to brave the cold.
We really need to stop letting these podunk non-representative states get the early jump on deciding the candidate - for either party.

At this point, as a Floridian, anything that keeps him out of state and distracted is good with me! I hope he has a good long run on the national stage, but loses in the end.
Because if he wins, that would be bad. He’s Trump (worse for LGBTQ+, and a true believer in the Lost Cause BS, plus MORE racist than Trump), but is better at hiring people who will actually get his ideas implemented (until the courts get hold of them, but that can often take a while and with this USSC I’m not sure I trust that backstop).
This is just the break the Asa Hutchinson campaign is waiting for!
I just listened to her speech and while I dislike her and just about everything she stands for I don’t think she is an existential threat to democracy in the same way as Trump. She may be as bad as Bush or McConnell but a Haley presidency will be survivable and I don’t see her invoking martial law to stay in power indefinitely. I keep going back to her taking down the confederate flag under pressure from her state legislature. Her views can apparently be swayed by rational arguments which means that she is able to listen to reasonable republicans rather than blindly demanding loyalty.

Bush Senior? Not a bad president at all. I mean, not my choice, but compared to Jr or trump, or Reagan, he was pretty damn decent.
Best Republican Prez most of us can remember- I mean, I sorta remember Ike, but most don’t.
My father was a life-long Republican but George Sr. was the first time he did not vote R for President. It mainly was because he let his Avenger crew drown during WWII. When Bush first started getting national attention my father told me about hearing about it during the war. Since Bush’s incident happened in the Pacific and my dad was an Avenger crewman in the Atlantic, I’m not sure how the news got that far.
That seems like an odd way to characterize the incident:

For this mission his crew included Radioman Second Class John Delaney, and Lieutenant Junior Grade William White, USNR, who substituted for Bush’s regular gunner. During their attack, four TBM Avengers from VT-51 encountered intense antiaircraft fire. While starting the attack, Bush’s aircraft was hit and his engine caught on fire. He completed his attack and released the bombs over his target scoring several damaging hits. With his engine on fire, Bush flew several miles from the island, where he and one other crew member on the TBM Avenger bailed out of the aircraft. However, the other man’s chute did not open and he fell to his death. It was never determined which man bailed out with Bush. Both Delaney and White were killed in action. While Bush anxiously waited four hours in his inflated raft, several fighters circled protectively overhead until he was rescued by the lifeguard submarine, USS Finback.
Disappointing 3rd for Haley last night. She might very well win NH but I don’t see a victory after that. Lose in SC and she’ll pack it in. The primary fight will be over just before the trials start and we find out the Republicans chose a felon.
Yes, this actually signalled the end for both Nikki and De Santis. They are both wasting money from this point on.
One of them getting ahead would have kept the campaign going a month or two more.
She was the governor of SC. I assume she’ll do well there but I can’t predict anything these days
