No one has anything to say for an MMP?

Short answer? Yes.

Have you ever woken up from a dream and just lay there a while trying to decide if the thing you were dreaming about had any basis in fact? This morning I finally decided that no, if there really were radioactive items in the house, I wouldn’t have just kept testing them with a geiger counter each time I wanted to use them.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 15c/58f and mostly cloudy, the temperature is likely to stay the same all day. Weather app says “each cloud in the sky fucking hates you” which may or may not be true.

Pondy I love and hate dreams like that, I have woken up utterly convinced that whatever was in my dream was real, and good or bad, had to be investigated. I am often disappointed to find it was just a dream, but in the case of radioactive objects, I think I’d be quite happy.

I have been working today after four days of ick. I’m bored with being ill and there’s always too much stuff to do so I have been working through some bits and pieces today. 'im indoors has left for the weekend, I’m kind of glad to have the place to myself for a while. I’ve already put my choice of music on, been up a ladder to fix the end of the curtain pole over the big landing windows, and put a bottle of something nice in the fridge for later. Now I will be planning a weekend away for myself so he can have the delights of looking after 3.5 cats on his own

Moooom safe travels, hope the realtor visit goes well!

nellie I’m so sorry you are having so much trouble with your lens. But now I will never be able to look at a VW Beetle without looking for the marimba band too!

I’ve got no real plans for the weekend although I have optimistically booked myself onto a spin class on Sunday morning so hopefully I’ll still be breathing at the end of it

Heaved. The driver for the left behind packages tried to dump a couple of irregs on me “that the customer didn’t want”. Right. There’s no service cross*, and I check in the system, they both came in at 0600 today, one wasn’t scanned out for delivery, and the other was was. At 09:16. Which means Package Car #238 would have had to run 50-100 stops and brought the stuff back in about 67 minutes. So I returned them and noted “Driver refused to take”. His super can deal with it, if it becomes a problem.
And while I was at the last light before my apartment, a fire engine comes through behind me(lights, but no siren), swerves into the opposite lane, honks a couple of times, and as I’m following at a distance, turns into the complex before mine, does a three point turn in traffic, and screams off back the was they came. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I think Engine 15 is doing the wacky tobaccy or something.

I see no basis for me letting my my pet Allosaurus roam around my apartment during a keg party. :t_rex:
But welcome aboard!

Safe travels FCFamily!

*. A service cross is a mark the driver puts on the package when they can’t deliver. if that chair had been refused it should have had

Good morning, Mumpers. Spade here, Samantha Spade, private eye I. Melissa gave me the name of the company and the contact info for the tech she’s been speaking to . I don’t know why the big corporation’s name is on the bottle…very odd. I looked up the company, and they have only FIVE employees and an annual revenue of only about $400k! This is starting to sound like it should be called Mom’s Basement Creations.

I called the tech several times, and she’s not answering. I reluctantly left a VM. A VM means she could call back when I’m walking errands or at the gym where it’ll be loud and I won’t have my questions with me. Because I suspect she won’t want to call me back, I left a very warm, friendly VM with an explanation of who I am and why I called and , “If I don’t hear from you by sometime on Monday, I’ll have to go up the ladder, and I’d hate to do that because I’m sure you can answer my questions.” Of course, the ladder only has 5 rungs…

Awwm thank you! I don’t really. It’s just my whacko imagination.

FCM, hope all goes well with the realtor tomorrow. Just think: you’re only 48 hours (or less) from peace and quiet!

swampy, do you make mac and cheese from scratch or use the blue box kind? Asking for a (drooling) friend.

Next town over, but the one in Oak Brook was closest to my house. This was back when there weren’t golden arches on every street. We had a BK nearby but not a McDonald’s.

That sounds like plenty to me!

Back from the cardiologist (I’m not certain he’s not young enough to be my offspring). I have a cardiac CT test scheduled, but he said the event monitor results seemed healthy and seemed to think that the light-headedness and such might not be cardiac. I’ve been cleared to drive (I do intend to be careful doing so), and he’s encouraging me to do things like walk to appointments (it’s less than a mile).

Next activity is a trip to Staples to drop a UPS package and shop for a new laptop, since my current one is having serious issues. Nice to know my heart looks pretty OK based on current info.

Just curious: How long should one wait to go fire up the lawn tractor after seeing a large cougar traverse the very areas to be mowed?

I do know they rarely attack people, and I see them all too regularly around my place. It just sort of hinked me out to glance out the window and see one casually lope behind my workshop as I was kitting out for the job.

Maybe mowing can wait till tomorrow.

We have arrived. I posted updates on FB, but the Dope wouldn’t load on my phone. No matter. We’re here. We’re safe. We’re all beat. I have to take MIL grocery shopping - her fridge is empty, truly. So that’s next.

Rah.

I imagine the sound of a tractor motor being fired up - and, perhaps, idling for a minute - would encourage most felines to find urgent kitty business to attend to elsewhere.

You’re right, shoe. My rational brain knows this. My lizard brain, not so much.

I’ve just seen them way too much lately. Makes me wonder if cubs are nearby.

Back from Publix and Aldi. MIL’s fridge and pantry are less empty. FIL just got up from his nap and asked who’s visiting them. Confusion reigns.

It’s been thundery, but no rain yet. Oh, and I scored some cherry Polaner at Publix. Yum!

Typical MMP week for me: I started off strong (i.e., posting), then got caught up every day and started posts that wound up being discarded for various reasons, then got caught up every day and made notes about folks/situations to address at some point, then got way behind and scrapped all plans. Heh.

Today, though, I quit work early and am able to jump back in the fray! I had some extra hours from last weekend’s proposal support, so at around 3:30pm I finished my weekly report, gave my employees a heads up, then logged out of everything and shut down both laptops toot sweet.

Part of why I’m way behind is that Wednesday, yesterday, and today I ate lunch on my patio while reading my Kindle (instead of reading/posting here) and letting Bailey wander around out back. The weather has been insanely nice, and I’m glad I decided weeks ago to go ahead and get an outdoor table. It’s been good to take breaks from being in my home office, and I think Bailey has appreciated the yard time. She’s always ready to go back inside as soon as I’m done, though: not that long ago it was always a struggle to get her back in the house. The 14-year-old doggy is slowing down a bit. *sigh* Anyway, I have plans tomorrow but there could be some more quality patio time in our future on Sunday.

I’m still a little congested/nose-blow-y today, but my chest seems to be clearer. I’m supposed to meet a friend for lunch tomorrow, and it looks like I won’t have to cancel… :crossed_fingers:

I might go to the county government center tomorrow morning and see if they can accomodate a walk-in for the bivalent booster. If I can get there shortly after they open, I’ll have almost 3 hours of waiting time available before I need to go meet my friend. I’ve wasted a lot of time this week trying to make an account on the CDC’s VAMS site, which is what my county wants folks to use for online appointments: I get error after error, even with two different browsers. And none of the CVS or grocery store pharmacy locations near me seem to have the Moderna booster, which I think I should get (this will be vaccination #5, and 1-4 were Pfizer). So, being a walk-in at the gov’t center it is…unless I wake up tomorrow and decide to wait until next weekend. I also want to get a flu shot sometime in the next few weeks (CVS or the grocery store would do both at the same time, but the gov’t center isn’t doing flu shots).

I’m getting The Look from Bailey, so I need to go let her outside. Hmmm, maybe I’ll spend some more time on the patio before transitioning to the living room…

Afternoon all. Swimming and Sauna have been completed and will head out to coach the 9-year olds in soccer in about an hour, so that should keep me out of trouble for awhile. Been using my new-fangled wrist BP monitor, been consistently in the 140/80 region, which is high (at least for the first number), but seems to be stable for me. Will keep taking the BP meds, though.

They are still working on the next-door house, but have a “for lease” sign out, so work much be progressing. They really need to replant the lawn, it is a mass of weeds and looks awful, it’s a sure turnoff for anyone coming for a look.

Oopsie, my 5th shot was Pzifer, the guy at Wal-Green’s said it’s the only one I have to show to folks, so I guess it’s a good one. Good luck getting shot.

FCM, glad you’re in safely. Hope Saturday is productive and Sunday is safe.

Shining tree, I’m with shoe, a noisy, smell thing with a human aboard it is not going to be attractive to a cougar, I would think…but then again, I didn’t see it up close and personal, which could possibly change my views…

Nettie, glad the Doc doesn’t think it was a cardiac probleml know you’ll take care driving.

Nellie, keep after them–killing with kindness is your most potent weapon.

talkie, glad to hear that health has returned to your household. ANd being a life-long bachelor, never did learn to argue with people; not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

OK, getting to the dress up for soccer stage of the day. All y’all take care.

Howdy Y’all! The yahd got mowed. Then sloth ensued, along with nappage and day drinkin’. Sittin’ on the back porch with a beerverage after mowage is one of life’s great pleasures. Also sup got cooked and et and the kitchen cleanded up. In a bit we shall resume rewatchin’ Crown. Seems appropriate to rewatch that right now.

Cookie glad you and Mrs. Cookie are feelin’ better today.

Happy Birthday Mr. Taters!

WetOne hope the allergies are better today. Life is better with potato chips. Then again, that could be just my life that’s better with chips.

Pondy I say just be glad the things in your house are not radioactive in real life. Dreams be weird.

Nellie I make it from scratch. However, I won’t judge (well, not to their face anyway) anyone who uses the blue box.

Nettie way back when I had a heart scare they did that thing where they look around your arteries, the name of which I cannot think of at the moment. Anywho, there were no problems found, so I went around sayin’, “see, not only do I have a heart, but I have a good one” for weeks afterward. Glad things look good with yours.

Bright Tree I think tomorrow is a good idea. After all, tomorrow is another day!

MOOOOOOM glad y’all arrived safe and sound. Just think, in about 48 hours peace and quiet will reign again at home.

Oopsie quality patio time is a good thing. We quite enjoy quality back porch time. I am awaitin’ availability of the Moderna booster myself. All my other jabs have been Moderna, so why switch now I say,

Glad that you made it to Floriduh OK Moooooom.

Good on the clean cardio bill nettie.

Chores are done, we’ve been to the dog park and supper has been et. I need to go to CVS at Tar-jay tomorrow to pick up prescriptions and lotion. I’ll likely get booster #2, but wait until next weekend for the flu shot. I took Pfizer for the original vaccines, but Moderna for the booster because that’s what CVS was giving.

My birthday is next Tuesday, and my son is coming Thursday for a visit, so I decided to make spaghetti sauce for both occasions. It’s kind of a long process that involves pork neck bones, so I decided to walk to the store today to see if they had any–always iffy, as they’re mostly used in Hispanic and certain kinds of Asian cooking, as well as my Mom’s little corner of Italy. In fact, a Vietnamese friend here used to buy them for me at an Asian store in Tacoma. If the store had none, I was going to have to see if they could get some in. Anyway, they had 'em! Yay!

Experts say the minimum wait time is at least two margaritas.

nettie, a huge WHEW! on the good news from the cardiologist! What’s the next step? I know you must be anxious to get rid of the symptoms, but I have no clue what kind of doc handles that stuff. Neurologist??

Oopsie, good luck on getting the booster! I wonder what’s up with the Moderna shortage.

Well, it’s certainly not my keen intellect.

Oopsie, I know what you mean about falling behind on the MMP. I do it just about every week. I always catch up reading, but usually when there’s something I want to comment on, the conversation has moved on already so I figure, why bother?

Anyway, I do read everything and I do care. I also assume the same goes for you.

Besides, there’s very little going on in my life right now that bears reporting. Except, perhaps, that I finally got to take my heart monitor patch off after two weeks. I was supposed to get it in July and have the results back before my cardiologist visit last week, but of course it never got sent. Three phone calls later, I got it 6 days before said visit, so it was still busy doing its thing while I was there. Doc said he’d set up a phone call in a couple weeks once the data has been accessed. Anyhoo, I don’t really expect any surprises.

I’m just glad to have that thing off of me. Right, Nettie?

Top Pot is a Seattle-area doughnut store, which I believe started by selling their wares at the local Starbucks. Their doughnuts tend towards the cake-y side, and they offer several types of old-fashioneds, which are my favorite.

Hubby prefers sugar-coated fluff, AKA Krispy Kreme, so we end up buying both.

Today we went out for breakfast and then visited the fish ladder. And then we ate fish and chips ( made with lingcod) and clam strips. Yummy!

We’re about to go pick up clam chowder and then deliver it. A friend got his first dose of chemo 2 weeks ago, so my parents are feeding him and his wife on Friday nights. Might be the last time I see him.

Up from naptime, having a cerveza in honor of Mexican Independence Day. And dinner is baked perch, brown rice with shallots and parsley, and steamed cauliflower with Penzy’s Fox Point seasoning and butter. Laundry is in the dryer.

Unless your tractor muffler makes your tractor go Pspspspspspsps :leopard:

nellie, you are hearing Chinooks.

That’s good.

Glad you made it, FCM.

I really need a 25¢ piece from Guatemala.

I’ve always wanted a Guatemala quatah dollah.
