Wow, what a game.
Can we get an updated player list?
I’ll put it in the game thread. Feel free to check for errors.
If you had maintained that you were merely the vote charger, i would have voted you. I knew (and probably chronos, too) that the doctor was the vote charger. Playing inconsistently to that would have gotten you lynched.
Final Votes was a dumb idea. I wanted to clear it before anyone did it.
Meh, some other time, I guess.
The Wisdom of re-using a game, save for color notwithstanding*,** I think this sucks immensely. **
Town does not need to play in a more restrictive environment. Scum can do any and everything.
**Why does town take it upon themselves to restrain themselves even more? **It’s already cramped quarters.
- The conversation on this will wait till the game ends. If indeed it is a 100% re-hash.
Meeko, can you try rephrasing your last post to be something more comprehensible? I’m always interested in discussing mafia game theory, but I don’t know what you’re saying.
He’s saying it sucks for Town if this is a reuse of an older game setup, only mixed with new color.
It sucks for scum too, since some of us knew how many there were and what roles to expect.
I haven’t been paying attention to this game at all, but did Meeko seriously get heat for only claiming Vote Charger? That’s ridiculous. When I was Dumbledore in HP Mafia, I planned to do the exact same thing. I was even going to go as far as to claim that my power had a restriction that would make it very unlikely that I’d invoke it(although I would to prove that the power existed). If pressed on this, I would have said that whoever I vote charged could not be protected the following Night.
Which would have been 100% true. Just not the whole truth.
Claiming doc when one can prove their towniness in another way is just stupid. There are some things that the town just doesn’t need to know.
Exactly.
Forgot you went the same route here Rysto.
But FTR, I was getting heat for … I’m not sure. I knew I would have to claim, so I typed out claiming just to be the Charger… figuring as you did.
Skeezix was more or less spokesperson for Town at this point, and he asked me to full claim.
I’ve had numerous PMs with Maha this game, and I told him that I was more or less done with the game.
Skeezix wanted me to hang myself, so meh. Why not. I was out anyway.
**Those are your words. **
I’m not sure if you got what you wanted out of this game, Maha. I mean, it seems to short change some aspect. **Scum doesn’t need yet another advantage, such as knowing it’s heard this joke before. Also, I wonder what Pants, Sushi, and Wolf were thinking. **
Pleonast : Town enters the game XX feet behind scum. It does Town no good to arbitrarily tie the OTHER hand behind their back.** I don’t understand why Skeezix wanted a full claim from me, after I just claimed being Vote Charger. **
I was thinking that since I threw the charge to Skeezix, a known town, that I could verify my town alignment based on my charge power half alone. No one would need to know the other, better half of my power.
**Would go so far as to say that Skeezix was fishing on the behalf of town, and there was no damn good reason to. **
That’s what I’m saying. Also, what Rysto has said.
Yes. I’ve been advocating this for a long time.
Although in this case, I’m not sure how using a power would prove one’s alignment. That’s a disadvantage of a closed setup, since the players don’t know which side has what powers.
Nope, I can’t comprehend you.
This, I understand. Use of a vote-doubling power wouldn’t prove your alignment, if this were a closed game. But there is a reason to not give a full claim, since it would give scum information as well. The decision to reveal or not should be left in the hands of the player with the information.
Once the game was opened, the vote-doubling power would be connected to the doctor role. So there is a pro-town reason to ask for a full claim–to make you explicitly commit to having that role. But there’s still the reason not to full claim, and the choice should go to who has the info.
I figured running this as a closed game was no biggie, by the way. It would have worked fairly well as an open game if I tweaked a couple roles.
I didn’t feel the “re-skinning” of an older game would give either side a tremendous advantage, honestly. I was kind of curious how long it would take anyone to notice.
RedSkeezix figured it out extremely early, but I guess his role was a big clue.
I wouldn’t say I would have won the tiebreaker…
Did the Day end?
still another 1.25 hours yet left in the day…
What a fascinating game.
That was a fun Day to read.
Hello everyone! I have to go back and read this thread now. I’ll post here again once I collect my thoughts.
