Activity had died down. There was some desultory BSing about omegaman (kudos to him, BTW, for managing to make this into another thread about “what’s his freaking trip [sic]?”), and a couple of people had managed to calm down and offer some genuine advice to nongoog – the thread had pretty well run its course, there wasn’t a whole lot to add.
Then catsix came stomping in in her Doc Martens of righteousness and said what had already been said on the first page of the thread, so going back to a point in the discussion that had passed a day or two earlier, and adding nothing but the word “twat.”
And I read what she said and thought “what the fuck,” and rather than keeping my thoughts to myself, I posted them. Isn’t that what we do in the Pit?
Sure! Or, she could write a profane message on an anonymous Internet message board, without any suggestion or threat of physical violence, expressing her opinion of the person in question. Which is basically the same thing, right?
Or, sarcasm free: when you write a post equating calling someone a “twat” on the Internet with burning them alive or kicking them to death, you sort of kind of lose your right to use the word hyperbolic to apply to anyone but yourself.
She did not merely express an opinion. She made a whole lot of illogical shit up, and attributed it to nongoog. In my experience, people don’t do that to just anyone, in any circumstance. They do it when they’ve got a victim down on the mat, and feel that they can get away with any shit they want because (they hope) the crowd is sufficiently behind them that it won’t call them on it.

When I write that post, sure. When I write that post.
It’s not about calling nongoog about a twat. It’s the self righteousness. It’s the exaggeration. It’s the attitude that because nongoog has done some stupid unethical shit, she is Fair Game for a bullying pileon up to and including illogically attributing unevidenced acts and attitudes to her.
It’s also not about violence. It’s about the witchhunt, not the witchburning.
I agree with this. The level of anger at nongoog did not support catsix’s vitriolic post at this point in the thread. We were past the outraged anger and well into low-key grumbling. Sorry you were still on “outrage,” catsix, but you missed your window of opportunity. You snooze, you lose.
Now, can we get back to talking about Omegaman, about whom every thread must be about, apparently?
Anyone that hasn’t done some stupid, unethical and selfish shit in their life should go create a thread in MPSIMS and post over in it so the rest of us can identify you and either nominate you for sainthood or avoid you at all costs. Maybe we can create a tag “charter member,” “member,” “SDSAB” and “Holier Than Thou.”
Edited to add: And a tag just for Omegaman, since this thread is about him.
There has been a lot of anger lately towards women who don’t take their own on others marriage vows seriously. To help our righteous anger here are some scarlet As.

Nope, I wasn’t kidding. Threads have a flow to them; this one was in the wind-up phase where all the original steam had been blown off already. Of course anyone can come in and post anything they want at any time that the thread has not gone into zombie status, but most of us realize when a thread has moved on and don’t address things from too far in the past.
Well, to be fair Frank, I’m sure you were out moderating the pasture while we were gathering around the fire getting ready to sing, so one minute late ain’t bad.
To be honest, I was out googling what was in the next line besides “mittens”, as I figured that “Mumble mumble mumble, mumble mumble mittens!” would have been a bit of a weak effort on my part, and would not have shown team spirit.
