Swampy prayers ascend for you and all our distant friends down there.
Hugs to all of you Swampy. I hate to say this but Mrs. Becky will likely not be too far behind. Not to be mean but it’s just the way it often is. Please do tell JDD
That your imaginary internet friends have sent condolences. Now I has a sad.
Did you get mugged of the Peach cake???
{{{JDD & Family & Swampy & OYKW}}}
You’re a good friend Swampy
Mom, remember, pics!
Mexican food was good last night. We had pork empanadas with chili verde (green chili) sauce and Modelo Especials. We really should go there more often. They’re literally 2 blocks from our house. :o
Various friends are already talking about the next U.S. eclipse and we have pretty much decided on Austin Tex.
Wifey went from “Yeah, whatever” to *“I wish we’d driven down south a little bit to be in the path of totality.”
*
Happy Birthday to our own Nettie. I can’t sing like Swampy but hope you are having a great day!!!1111!!!1!!!
I call them crates almost all the time. Doggy jail slips out occasionally. Also “cone of shame”.
Happy Birthday Nettie! Many happy returns!
Thanks y’all for the condolences. I have passed them on. We had N.O.L. with JDD and Partner. Partner called and said that someone had brought over a serious amount of KFC with all the fixin’s and to please come help eat it up. We were ever so happy to oblige.
We’re not even considerin’ dindin. If’n anything is desired it shall be via forage.
I went to the sto’ and got a spiral cut ham. I told ‘em we were bringin’ N.O.L. tomorrow and to make sure JDD Sis, aunt, and any other relatives they might find to come eat show up. Ham, green beans, N.O.T. sallit, squish casserole, rolls and a pound cake with strawberries and real whipped cream. That’s some sho’ nuff southern U.S.ofA. grievin’ food. The cake is done, the ham is in the oven, N.O.T. have been cooked and are coolin’ down. The beans, rolls, and squish will be easy enough to take care of in the mornin’. Matter of fact the squish casserole is already made up and ready to bake. We can deheathenate and then get all that together to take over to their house.
Butters we feel the same way about Miss Becky. I’m sure it won’t be long. They were married for seventy-three years and also well, she is not in great shape herself. It will be physically impossible for her to attend the service so I have volunteered to sit with her at the nursin’ home. Someone needs to be there and I know Mr. Frank would want someone to be lookin’ after “Toots” as he always called her.
Hope all the BooFaeFest are havin’ or had a good time.
And now this…

Happy birthday nettie!
swampy, that’s so kind of you to sit with Miss Becky.
Nelson and I wound up going up to see a former neighbor who just got a place out in the country. When we left, we swung through Sonic for a tea and my weekly fix of tots. Of course, he got a tot.
Unfortunately, between the country road and the tot, he got carsick.
We stopped to change his blankie for a towel in his car seat and he walked a little and drank some water. Now, he’s asleep in my lap.
I worked, napped, going out the the pub to.give money to the AOH.

Happy Birthday Nettie!!!
Happy Birthday Nettie!!!
Hope the MMP visit was fun. Looking forward to FCM’s report.
You are a good person, swampy. (ain’t said enough)
Obviously, I survived opening day on soccer…coached three games (boys won 3-2, girls tied 2-2, and the 5 year olds tied 5-5 but we don’t worry about scores there (but I bet every parent could tell you what it was…,grin>). Wasn’t my best refereeing job, but I got it done without any hassle and the kids seemed to enjoy it.
A good long soak in the tub has improved my outlook on life, think I’ll make it to Sunday.
You are a good person too MetalMouse and of course it’s not said enough re Swampy.
I also look forward to **Mooommmms ** report. And BooFae’s and anyone else that was there.
Home, fed, and exhausted. I’m late posting because when I got to the house, **FCD **was stahvink, so we went to Cracker Barrel for fish. Yum. Now we’re home in chill mode.
The gathering in DC was very nice. I got there way too early, because that’s the way I am. **MsRobyn **showed up first, and while we were chatting, **BooFae **and **smid **arrived, followed shortly by Tugig. While we were sitting and chatting, Mama Zappa and Typo Knig showed up, and a little later, Wendell Wagner completed our gathering.
As it happened, there was an event in the courtyard which included a bluegrass ensemble that played some interesting interpretations of non-bluegrass songs. It was really nice when they took their breaks.
They were kinda loud. All told, we spent something over 3 hours talking about all kinds of stuff - it was a rather meandering conversational path.
Most of the peach cake was ingested - I brought home 2 small squares. And I’m pleased to report that our Mumper from across the pond is a charming person who is very nice, dammit! Her non-Mumper companion was equally charming and she needs to drag him kicking and screaming into the MMP!
There are 2 photos on the SDMB FB page, and I’m hoping **Tugig **will show up and share the group selfie he took.
On my way back, the Metro was full of folks heading to the Nationals’ baseball game, but I managed to snag a seat, and once we passed the stadium stop, there were maybe half a dozen of us left in the car.
All in all, it was a very pleasant afternoon and those of you who didn’t make it missed out!
PS - Happy Nettie Day!!
What Doggio said!
Worked on the desk and did some various puttering. Other than that just a dull day. Which, at my age, isn’t a bad thing at all.
I didn’t understand a word of this. But apparently somebody close to you died, so I offer my sympathies.
Of all times for me to re-materialize here. The Dope is still off-limits at work, so I wander in pretty randomly at nights or weekends.
Strangely, when DH passed, no grievin’ food materialized. Not even so much as one person approached me in the following couple of weeks to ask if I’d like to join them for dinner or lunch.
Hard to believe that I’ve had my house for almost five months now. I have had the obligatory plumbing disaster with bad carrot soup erupting from the washing machine drain and found that no amount of shiny new switches and outlets can compensate for idiot electricians. Some vacuuming pulled enough power through a bad connection that it burnt out. This is the kind of thing that starts fires, so I was really lucky.
I’ve been very recently blessed (or cursed, depending on one’s POV) with a leather title. Swampy may know what this means, but for the rest of you, it’s a sort of beauty pageant mixed with appreciation of past and expectations of future fundraising and community leadership.
Gottie! We miss you. Congrats (I think) on the leather title.
I’m glad BooFae fest went well. It would be fun to meet some folks in real life.
We’re watching movies and will probably have grilled steaks for dinner. Exciting day.
There you go, a Swampy to English translation for you. Wait, does this mean I’m fluent in a furren language?

Bad carrot soup, bad! Now go to your [del]room[/del] corner of the fridge w/o any dinner.

Christ, that is so sad.
