How could I get to your place from these airports without having drive in NYC traffic?

A small aside regarding the website’s directions if you’re coming from the Island or Westchester…
I hate getting to and driving on the GWB…especially with the Cross Bronx delays.
You’d probably save some time taking the Sprain Brook North(From LI take the TNB to 95N to the Hutch to the Cross County…avoiding the Whitestone toll plaza disaster), to the Cross Westchester (minor construction delays for 2 miles) over the Tappan Zee and shoot up 87 to the fair.
Good directions, JBW. Either that or the Whitestone to the Hutch to 287, toll plaza debacle notwithstanding. But avoid the Cross Bronx like the plague, 'cause it really is a plague. They should call it the Robert Moses Plagueway.
Anyone who is driving, please please please email me for directions to my house (not the Faire, my house). We are holding a “ReconnoiterFest” at Casa Dave-Guy so we can sort of carpool and caravan to the Faire. Just tell me from whence you are originating so I can be specific.
Zyada, if you were planning on renting a car and driving directly from the airport you would do well to fly into Westchester or Newark, Westchester being the optimum. Directions from there are ridiculously simple. But if your choices are limited to the NYC majors, then Newark or LaGuardia. Not, repeat, NOT Kennedy.

Well, I can fly into Newark direct but I won’t get in to way late if I work a full day. So how far is it to your house, and when are y’all planning on getting together?

RaCha’ar, you got in just under the wire, mainly because I didn’t get home until after 5:00 and just couldn’t face trying to call for mob-rate tickets. You’re in. But I’m tellin’ ya, tomorrow’s it! I’m callin’. I mean it. I’ll post when I do, so people won’t waste bandwidth.
Zyada, as it happens, I am going to Newark Airport Monday to pick up my darling sister and her wonderful daughter, so I can brush up on the directions and the drive time.
Uh…we haven’t really nailed down what time we’re actually going to leave my domicile and head for the actual Faire. There may be a sort of casual munchies-n-sodapop period while we wait for people to arrive Saturday morning. But hey, we got six weeks to really screw things up, so just hold your horses.

See, I can’t actually get my plane ticket for another couple of weeks. So now I’m religiously checking places like Orbitz & Expedia, monitoring the prices. It’s pathetic.
Seeing some good prices and flight times, though! And barring some unforseen horribleness, I’ll be there. Oh yes I will. 
You had jolly well better be.
Okay, uh, I tried to call for tickets, and the office isn’t open on Saturdays.
So…Monday. Monday for sure. I will definitely call Monday.
I’m not working Monday, because I have to take my son to the dentist, so Monday, late morning.
Or early afternoon.

But there’s a new wrinkle…a good wrinkle, not a Botox wrinkle…
In order to qualify as a mob, we had to have at least 25 people. We didn’t. So we didn’t get the mob rate.
But…The lovely, cheerful and effervescent Jessica Russell, who helped me with the order, said a better deal was the advance ticket deal, in which, for every two tickets you buy at $12.95, you get a free ticket for any date in August.
Thus, I ordered ten tickets, got five freebies, and paid for a child’s ticket for my eight-year-old. Thus, to spread the cost of the tickets around, every adult on the list owes me $8.65 per ticket, which is, you will agree, a hot, steamin’ deal.
The lovely, cheerful and effervescent Jessica Russell also informed me that I should be receiving the tickets by the end of next week, which is July 5, so owing to the holiday maybe the beginning of the following week.
It’s a done deal, folks. I’ll let yez all know when I they arrive. And I propose we make the lovely, cheerful and effervescent Jessica Russell an honorary member of the Legion of DoperWimminz[sup]TM[/sup].

Rahhhr! Persephone, my dear, while I love to please my fans and contunue in my rediculously out-of-date manner of dress, I think it would be a bit out of place. That and it’s going to be damn hot. That just doesn’t fly.
Though I’ll bring it along and keep it in the car just for you. If’n it cools off by the time we get back to Dave’s, since I think that’s the plan, I’ll break it out for no other reason than to score points on the Hot DoperWimminz front.

I’ll see if I can go in semi-garb (ie, a modern peasant blouse and a homemade skirt). I haven’t had a chance to get any REAL looking garb, and the stuff I used to have just doesn’t fit any more. Verrain looks damn good in his garb, so I’ll see if I can convince him to wear it! 
Since questions are making their way 'round… is someone going to be able to pick up some of us at the NJ Transit station? (Dave, you DID say there was one near you, right??!!) 'Cause that’s the only way I can make it up there.
Gawd, I can’t wait until August 3rd is here! This is gonna be a BLAST!
