OK, I'll Start The MMP

Big surprise - it rained overnight. More promised this afternoon and tonight. Dammit. And the furnace kicked on this morning! IN MAY!!!

Here’s a question for all the kitchen masters here: what can I do with leftover pork ribs that isn’t pulled pork? I have pretty much a full rack that didn’t get eaten last night and I’d like to do something with them other than reheating and serving. It seems every search turned up pulled pork or pork tacos. I’d like something in the casserole or pie family. Does shepherd’s pie with pork sound reasonable?

I’m thinking I’ll do something with shrimp for supper - maybe scampi over pasta?

Meanwhile, gotta get in gear and get thru the day.

Happy Wednesday!

Morning all. Up a 0600 and it was foggy outside, but the sun is out and burning it off. I am thinking about mowage today but the temperature is only getting to 60F today and is due to reach 70 tomorrow, so Thorsday may be better. Need to do some small shopping chores later this morning, but looks like another day spent mostly inside.

gotti, I ordered some facemasks from Amazon 5 weeks ago, still haven’t seen them, the Chinese company says they’re held up and no, you can’t get a refund. A bit ticked off. Hope your stuff shows up today.

Nettie, sounds like your workplace is a perfect spot to post Dilbert cartoons…but I doubt they permit such things… Hang in there.

Not into Venison or goat meat, I’ll manage with beef and fowl.

Everyone have a good hump day now.

These dreary days are really starting to wear on me. We might see sun tomorrow, but most of the day will be spent driving to Baltimore so **FCD **can get his COVID test and have blood drawn at the hospital for type and match. I’m trying to find a place near there where we can get some lunch - the area seems overrun with Caribbean places. Not my preference. I may just pack a lunch for us.

Sooooo inconvenient! :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Hump Day!

It’s a rainy 46 degrees.
Crazy weather, my furnace should have been turned off in April and I should be enjoying the breeze coming through the open windows.
It’s supposed to get down to 32 Firday morning.

I would happily take any leftover ribs.

Doctor conference is on the agenda for today.
I need to pull out my BP monitor, they want me to have a number for that, as well as my temperature, weight, and something else.
LIke I can’t just give them whatever numbers I want?
Whatever… I really don’t have time for this stuff. I don’t know why this doctor wants to see me every 3-4 months, very annoying.

Stuff that falls onto the floor?

Wish me luck, people. I have an interview today! (Hint: there aren’t many essential businesses open in Michigan, but one industry has been boooooooming since quarantine started. I may be a frequent customer anyway, so I may have applied. Hell, I know the product and inventory well!)

Full time work, too. Badly needed by yours truly. Hold a good thought for me, Mumpers!

Appendages crossed for the job Horseshoe!

Today, I officially got furloughed. This is not a problem, due to a gummint scheme, I’m still being paid (gummint is paying 80%, irk is paying the remaining 20%), and it’s not as though I was doing anything anyway, as I can’t exactly do that job remotely, but I wasn’t allowed to go on site.

It’s NOS here again today, though a bit breezy. I’ve finished the first draft of my project, and a friend’s gonna proofread it, so I’m taking a few days break from looking at the stoopit thing, and went for a walk getting lost down the footpaths, 'cos spring is sproinging away and it’s all terribly pretty out there. Now it’s quarantini o’clock, because I can.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Fluffy gave Gordie and I the side eye on our morning walk.

Well, think of the wurst thing you can imagine.

Good luck, shoe!

Bummer, Nut.

MetalMouse, I am waiting on my mask I ordered.

I wish someplace around here would be overrun with even one Caribbean place. I lurves me some Caribbean food.

Good luck, Shoe!

I finally traded some homemade soap to the neighbor lady for a homemade mask. Now I’m all fashionable, and stuff.

The female people have gone off to photograph wildflowers and visit BiMart. They’ll be gone all day.
SIL is on a business meeting on his computer.
Grandson is still asleep. I know he was up at 3am playing a video game, so I don’t expect to see him much before dinner.
I just had a plate of leftover potato salad and a big glass of cran-mango juice for brekkie. Don’t know what I’m gonna do today. It’ll be coolish (60s) today and sunny.

Onward!

Just got Roxy down for her nap - it appears I succeeded in wearing her out this morning. The trampoline was a good gift choice! I had a salad, but I need more of a lunch. I took a sammich out to FCD.

Now it’s time to search for a recipe for supper.

PS - Good luck, Purp!!!

Why? I ain’t worried about it, it’s only gonna be until they can re-open the site. Frankly I prefer the clarification that I’m not supposed to be irking, rather than being supposedly irking with nothin’ to do, and I’m still getting paid.

Piano player in a house of ill repute?

Seriously, purp or shoe (I like purp better), hope the interview goes well.

Nut, being paid for doing nothing is a good racket, usually you have to work for about 40 years before that happens…

FCM, you realize that in about 5 years you’ll need to buy a full-sized outdoor trampoline for the backyard when Roxy comes visiting…

The Wednesday noon siren check just went off, so I’d better get up and do…something.

Goodluck, Purps, hope it goes well. I bet it’s a liquor store job! (;)) I hope it’s a liquor store job, or better yet a bartender job.

About the ‘Goat meat gagging’ incident: We raised goats for 4-H when the kids were young. The absolutely MOST stinking of animals, that is not a skunk. The idea of eating one just grosses us out. Tho’ BBQ might make it palatable…Nope. Can’t do it.

We are planning on grilling burgers and hotdogs tonight. DIL is on a bread run.

I have on the list for her to get ‘paperclay’ I wanna to show the Grand-wreks how to make stuff with clay that they can keep. It’s clean and easy to work with. I think it will be fun. Air drys.

Marching into the afternoon and I’ve done very little.
My ‘thrush’ is better. Just the tip of my tongue burns, alittle. Still talking like a frog croaks.

Mom, I’m thinking shepherd pie would be great with rib meat. Oh, and your Cuke salad is well liked around here. (:))

**Beck **- glad the cuke salad is appreciated. My mom has been making it for years, and I just found out a few months ago that she eats neither cucumbers nor onions! But she like pickles, and she does cook with onions - she just won’t eat them raw or cooked unless they’re lost in a dish. Weird that I never noticed for 65 years…

I found a shrimp florentine recipe that I think will be supper. The shrimps are out and thawing.

I’m bored. I may be forced to, like, dust or something…

After my Mother died when we were all younguns, Daddy hired a housekeeper.
She was not exactly like ‘Alice’ from the Brady Bunch or ‘Mr. Belvedere’. It fact she was a lazy drunk. She taught us all to do all her housework she was getting paid to do.

It was actually ingenious of her. She played loud music and gave us jobs. We had to be done with the jobs before she flipped the cassette over. Hey, we thought it was fun.

The neighbors complained one too many times about the noise. Daddy got suspicious and interrogated us and she was dismissed.

Fast forward to the Corona Quarantine. I’m using her methods to teach the Grand-wreks how to clean. Even a 3yo can use a feather duster. We have a vacuum/dusting dance party everyday. Then we parade around picking up mis-laid items to marching tunes.
My house is mostly dust and clutter free.

And the 2 mothers of these kids just stand around, mouths agape, startled.

I say use the cards you’re dealt.

I believe they’re called* bud*tenders, Beck, in the industry. Good luck, shoe!

Consarn it, I posted here yesterday, and now I don’t see it. I was getting timeout errors like crazy, though, so who knows? My only real news was that my friend and neighbor lost her job due to the COVID economy. Her employer was not shut down; there’s just no business due to justifiable fear of COVID. She has enough put by for her and her son to hang on for about two months. Then I don’t know what. :frowning:

Nothing new with the BIL. The forced nutrition through the PICC line has made him slightly more alert. That’s it. I think sis is regretting allowing them to do it, but it’s psychologically harder to stop than it is not to start.

It’s a gorgeous day. It rained a little while ago so everything is fresh, but now the sun is peering out from big, puffy clouds.

Mooooom, why are you getting all that cool weather? It’s supposed to get up to 80 here Friday. That’s as hot as I’m willing to deal with. Trade ya!

Also, none of us kids realized Mom didn’t like carrots until she was in her eighties. She made carrot dishes when we were growing up because she knew carrots were healthy. She just didn’t eat any. And we didn’t notice.

**nellie **- dunno why we’re being chilled, but it’s pissing me off! :stuck_out_tongue: Firday and Sat nights, we’re threatened with temps in the 30s!!! Then the end of next week, it’s supposed to creep back towards normal.

Roxy is up from her nap just in time for her mom to come in and take her. YAY!

So, now what… hmmmmmm

I irked a while this morning. I got our stimulus payment finally. I stopped at the bank drive through to get hubby’s half to give to him. Home now thinking about a nap.

I ordered some plexiglass shields for the desks in the front office at irk. Can’t find any masks though. I am checking the base supply store so maybe they have some. I can’t be the only one needing them.
Happy middle of the week.

I’d rather have your temperatures, FCM. Mid-to-upper 90s by Friday. Iggg.

Doofuses upstairs did it again, using the leaky tub, so now I have a nice hole in my bathroom ceiling at least until Saturday, possibly Monday, until it’s dried out up there (drywall must dry fully before patching). Also had a problem with steadily louder bass from them, after bimbo felt it necessary to scream into her phone on her balcony (very close to my bedroom window) late enough that this needed to not be happening. Management duly notified, noise subsided (for now).

Home today with stomach issues. Not much productivity planned, other than running dishes and possibly a little cooking.

Got my package. It was actually delivered last night, UPS just didn’t bother to send an email about it until this morning, and the brown ninja didn’t bother to ring the doorbell or knock.
