After my first sexual experience at age 20, I went six years without anyone touching me. During this time I was at least 50 (probably more) pounds overweight and self-conscious as hell about my body.
At 26, I began to have sex again. I also began working out and lost quite a bit of weight. Do the two correlate? I’m guessing so, but for more than one reason. Using my body instead of being ashamed of it was an incredible confidence boost. I’m sure that had as much to do with attracting other people as anything else.
Oh, I’ll never be thin. But to tap an oft-probed cliche, you attract others when you feel good about yourself.
I also don’t believe in finger-shaking. You can’t get people to find someone or something attractive if that attraction doesn’t come naturally. You can only hope they’ll be open-minded to realize attraction comprises more than just surface appearance.
