Aw, I just found out that a former McGill teacher has died. He was a clarinet teacher. He wasn’t my clarinet teacher, but all the clarinet students around my time would’ve known him.
He used to play with the local orchestra as well.
So sad.
And the water system in my apartment building sucks and the sink is bubbling because someone else is doing stuff with the water at their place. Guess I should go wipe my eyes and try to deal with the sink.
moon unit, it’s a 6-ft tall wood ‘privacy’ fence. In North Ali-bama, nearly all the yards have one, it’s almost as common as window blinds over drapes.
Midget, sorry about the news. My brother played the clarinet in school, but I never learned an instrument. My loss.
Sari, sounds like the Son wasn’t to excited about the assignment; hope he gets motivated.
FCM, this apparently was the “remove old stuff and dig post holes and put in posts” crew. The next crew is “put up the fence” crew, and I expect it’ll take them more time to move the materials from their truck to the back yard than it takes them to build the fence.
This will be my last message to the MMP from this computer. It’s a 7-8 year old Dell XPS420 running Windows 7 and it has served me well. After logging off I’ll erase Firefox and all the attachments from it and put it on the shelf for eventual recycling. Hope to stay in touch from the library when I can.
Had a bad case of insomnia last night and a strong sense DH would need me today, so took an FMLA day. Good thing, since he did a short-notice trip to the occupational medicine doctor to discuss his recent woes. We have something that passes for a game plan, and more X-rays were done on the problem ankle.
Really should go to bed sometime fairly soon, though, once I put more in my stomach. The JitB fish sandwich combo was tasty and is normally a sufficient meal, but my stomach is politely requesting further input.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 29 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 47 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. We shall sup upon beef/veggie soup and cornbread, both left from yestiddy. I froze three containers of soup for future consumption. No plans to go anywhere today that I know of, which is fine by me.
{{{Midget}}} so sorry about your teacher. Hope you got the sink problem resolved.
Nettie here’s hopin’ the game plan helps to resolve the situation.
MetalMouse I, too, have heard the rumors that I am gay. Needless to say, I was shocked, shocked I say, to find out the rumors are indeed true!
Sari the location of the shelter is not feasible for a moat. Besides, the cost of maintainin’ the required moat monsters is beyond our budget.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Wait, what?!:eek::eek: BOTH of you are gay?! What are the odds of that?!
It’s chilly and sunny here again, and I’m sat in [del]avoiding[/del] working on a 10 minute talk about pollinators I’m trying to write for a Talk To The Whole Collej we have to do in March. The problem isn’t writing the talk, the problem is having to stop wittering on about bees after a measly 10 minutes…
Anyway, I need to go to the shops later, preferably while the sun’s out.
yeah rat in construction these days is there’s a crew for everything one crew for the teardown one crew for the clean up from that and one do to any prep work then one to do the actual work and then the cleanup guys come back…
It was NINETEEN DEGREES in the yard this morning!! YOIKS!! As it’s Tuesday, I’ll be taking Roxy to the library for story time. And I’ll push the vacuum cleaner around. And maybe throw a load of shirts in the washer. We’ll see what the day brings.
As a kid, our supper time was always 5:45, unless traffic was really bad and Dad was later getting home. And since I’ve had early work days for year, I’ve gotten used to breakfast before 7, lunch around 11, and supper at 5. The thought of a meal after 7 in the evening feels so wrong to me!
Well, I need a shower and real clothes. Luckily, Roxy will watch TV in my bed while I get cleaned up. She really likes crawling under the covers while reclining on my wedge pillow! Kid cracks me up…
Afternoon, mumpers! I have been very much absent lately, those of you who keep up with me on farcebook will know what’s been going on, and suffice it to say I am very much looking forward to Thursday afternoon when at least the funeralising will be over.
Then comes the arduous task of clearing out mum’s flat, which has to be completed within 28 days of me notifying the council of events. So I have taken that to be the day before they sent me the form I had to fill in, and they can argue about it if they feel the need.
Weather’s grey and grim, I am exhausted, but on the plus side my doc has signed me off work for a couple of weeks so I’ve got plenty of time to deal with officialdom.
rosie’s sig to all, I think that just about sums it up.
Mornin’ all Y’all!
I woke with a sore thumb. I thought it was a paper cut. Turns out I had a tiny sliver of wood in there. ( from Fire wood, I guess)
At 11am DIL and myself will go the Diabetic clinic. It’s IV day. Mooom, sounds like you’ve got this retirement thing handled. That grandbaby just sounds adorable! Y’all enjoy storytime.
The sun is shining and it’s 25 feels like 16 degrees outside.
Much better than the 18 feels like 10 when I left this morning.
The pups got a good romp and Echo got into a fight with Bella the Boxer. Bella’s owner pulled Bella off of her and I had to hang on to Echo who kept trying to go back for more. Echo is a feisty little shit, reminds of a friend whose husband used to tell her that one day her alligator mouth was going to get her canary ass in trouble.
Well, of course she’s adorable - I wouldn’t permit anything less! Do you FB? If so, PM me and we can connect, and you can see for yourself how adorable she is! In fact, that goes for anyone. I keep my FB Friends Only because the public at large just couldn’t handle the wonder of me!
Yes, back from story time and a quick run to Food Lion for bananas and milk and burgers (for supper.) The RoxStar is having quality time with her papa, so I’ll run the vacuum cleaner, then assume the knit position.
If the only things that were rotten were the posts then they shoulda been able to reuse the panels between. Thats what I did when the neighbor managed to push our ‘good neighbor’ fence with the rotted posts over. We just had to be careful about putting the new posts in the old holes so everything lined up.
I.N.G.O.
Old joke: You know why baptists never have sex standing up?
It’s 'cause they’re afraid god might think they’re dancing.
Thank you! Thank you! I’ll be 'ere all week.
Going for my gall bladder surgery tomorrow. I have a long list of things I’m supposed to do beforehand.
I’m supposed to take a shower with antibiotic soap tonight and shampoo my hair.
No food or drink after midnight.
Then I’m supposed to sleep on freshly laundered sheets, without my puppies.
In the morning I’m supposed to take another shower with antibiotic soap.
Also no breakfast, and very little water, but I’m supposed to take all my morning pills, except the jardiance.
And I’n supposed to wear comfortable clothes to the hospital at 7am. No jewelry or other metal. The chain mail is right out.
There’s probably other stuff I’ve forgotten.
I’ve never had to do all this for my other surgeries, and this is supposed to be a routine cut-and-snatch.
Howdy all. Typing this from my laptop in the library, as my house is, with the exception of 2 chairs, sans furniture. Tomorrow I get my Main Bedroom set (sans head and footboard) delivered so I can go back to sleeping in my own house but tonight is Best Western time. Tomorrow is also fence building day and painting day, so lots of activity going on.
Bought my new TV, it’s a 65" Sony, also got talked into a soundbar and bought a new table for it, which guess what, I have to assemble myself. It’s being delivered Firday, so I have the weekend to do it wrong 2-3 times before getting it right.
Only other stuff I need to buy are optional, like new Chandeliers and an Ottoman for the new Sectional, might even have some money left.
Trying to load my profile from my old computer’s Firefox to this computer, but not having much success. Also am going to try and load my backup from Windows 7 to windows 10…the instructions make it look easy (HA!)
Is you a Gremlin?
It’s been so cold, & windy* too, that the ice isn’t slippery; it’s quite dry. When it gets close to 32° then it can be dangerous but it was in the teens° overnight.
*Windchills don’t matter but when it’s that windy & low humidity, the wind serves to dry up any moisture.
Until your post last week, Rotorhead, I didn’t realize Spaghetti Warehouse was a chain. I used to like going there but the local one closed. In looking at their website, I see that the trolley car looks to be a staple at many/all of their locations. Was thinking about that last night as I was draining my one pound of spaghetti. I can’t imagine what their kitchen looks like in terms of the pots to boil spaghetti & other pasta shapes that they serve. (For those not familiar with them, they really are a warehouse of a restaurant with seating for a couple of hundred people. That’s a lotta boiling water!)
There was a nearby major apartment fire this morning. Seven hours later, there’s still apparatus on scene. That building (16 units) will be a total loss, in fact the fire dept was calling on destruction equipment so it’s already began. Kinda interesting in below freezing temps but luckily no one was injured. Apparently, another building had a small fire overnight. I’d be kinda worried if I lived there with that rule of threes.
You didn’t get the special wipes with the special instructions on how, when, where, and what order to use them?
Good luck with the surgery, and I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Not much getting done today, kind of dozing off and on. I need to figure out some dinner before I log in to irk.
I need to wake up my son. He has two assignments due today that I need to proofread, and another assignment that he is probably going to need my help. The two assignments are about health care in Canada, I have no idea why Canada. They are done, I already proofread them a few times, but they need a final check before he submits them.
The new assignment is about health care in the US. Something he isn’t so worried about since he is still covered on mine. Next year he is going to have to figure something out, I think. Some plans say he has to get his own coverage when he turns 26, others say at the end of the month that he turns 26, and others say at the end of the year he turns 26. I don’t know what my plan says, and no sense in worrying about it now, I may have a different plan next year. Or whatever job he gets may have health insurance, and the company I irk for has been talking about getting health insurance.
It’s all up in the air, so whatever will be, will be.
I keep yelling at him to get up and he is still snoozing away.
I want him to change the light bulb in the kitchen before it gets dark, so he needs to get his ass up now.
