I’m 80% for Friday night, 0% for Saturday day (work), and in the low teens for Saturday night, due to the fact that I’ll be at the Southgate House watching the Shams and the Tough and Lovely. Hmmmmm…
Riverfest would be good for me too. I live downtown, so otherwise I’d be spending the day breaking into cars and mugging obnoxious suburban drunks.
I am 90% able to make it Sat during the day. Just tell me where and when. Preferences are the Zoo or Aquarium for the day, but I’ll do Art museums and riverboat gambling as well.
Yeah, I have that effect on wimmins. It’s a gift.

Are you interested in a family friendly Saturday day activity (fleamarkets, canoeing, Zoo, Museum center, Aquarium, Art Museums, picnic, Young’s Dairy farm (not exactly anywhere near Cincinnati), etc.
It depends what I do Friday, really, but if I had to guess, I’d say no unless it was canoeing.

Well, it looks like there are people interested for both nights and Saturday day, so there will be things to do at those times. Haven’t heard from Zappo recently, he must be busy with Elvii week and may not have good internet access. I am leaning toward Melting Pot for Friday night, although the only one I know of is up off of Montgomery Road just north of I-275. There was one in Hyde Park but it changed into a more upscale fish place. I’ll have to check and see if there is another. Friday seems like it will have fewer people than Saturday night, if I’ve interpreted the responses here and in my e-mail correctly, so that would work better with fondue. (I am leaving aside my personal belief that fondue in hot weather is weird…)
For Saturday I haven’t decided yet. Maybe Watson Bros since it’s easy to find and they accomodate groups well, but I’d like to try something different, maybe something in Northside near Tevya. Or just eat chili dogs at the Whippy Dip near Rue. Saturday daytime activity is still up in the air as well. FWIW it should be around high 80s / low 90s here this weekend, at least that’s what the preliminary forecast calls for. So maybe we could do the Zoo early and find some ice cream or some place cool to hang out in the afternoon?
Yippee-zippy, it’s Fondue Friday! (That should be a t-shirt.) And the one up on Montgomery is all I know about too. Not that I’m way-hip on the eatin’-out scene.
And Watson’s (because it’s easy) on Saturday sounds swell. (Although chili dogs (cheese conies, but Soupo calls ‘em “cheese ponies”) would be rootin’-tootin’ too.)

That way if he picks something that’s even remotely close to what I suggested and people like it I can say “Yeah, it was my idea.” But if people don’t like it I can shake my head and mutter “What was he thinking?”) Nope. Can’t think of a thing that would be different.

BTW, I should mention that we don’t seem to be luring any Indiana Dopers in, maybe I should have capitalised the ‘I’? And Lexington is not at all represented as far as I know, I can you do anything to lure/trick Ellen and her irrepressibly cute brood or the other LexiDopers up? I’m counting thinksnow as a Kentucky Doper just to make this feel all interstate-ish, even though we all know he’s really a Columbian at heart.
Well it looks like I’m in. Anyone else intersted in sharing a room or have a place for me to crash? I don’t plan on getting to the area until 11 or so on Friday night if that makes a difference. I don’t snore though, or anything else like axe murder in my sleep, well ok there was that one time…

I think our economy needed your big $$$ as much as Michgan’s did. It’s looking as though we may have a bunch of people camping at my house, just bring a sleeping bag and pillow and head on out.

Zappo is driving here from Memphis, on his way back to Harrisburg(? somewhere in PA) on Friday night. He said he would show up “sometime around dinner”. Which is kind of vague, so I was trying to go low key that night. Last time when Rue, thinksnow and Zap were showing up in the afternoon from Indianapolis it turned out to be around 9:00 pm. Different circumstances, but it’s sometimes hard to gauge those long road distances.
Net, for anyone who is only going to make one night I would personally recommend Saturday night. Especially since that is when our lovely mystery guest has threatened to appear.
Also, FWIW our soccer season (my daughter’s, actually) doesn’t start until the following weekend. Apparently they do things differently up there in Dayton.
Well, I’m a “no” unless we get out of babysitting on Friday. We’ve got to keep a friends’ pair of angels. I can’t see coming down for just one day only (we’ve got Sunday plans) but if Friday night gets free I’d come for Friday night and Saturday day.
Cranky, just bring your friends’ “angels” with you. I’m sure they appreciate the extra time. It’ll make it even more exciting if you don’t tell them about until you get back to A. Arbor.

Friday Night Dinner: I’ve actually made a reservation at The Melting Pot. Here’s the menu. Reservation is at 8:00 pm* under the name Cecil Adams. Note the map and directions at the link. If those aren’t abundantly clear then let me know and I’ll give you specific directions that apply to wherever you are coming from.
I didn’t make a really large reservation for Friday night, so please confirm if you’re attending the dinner that night so that I can adjust accordingly if necessary. We’ll probably head up early, after Zap has time to wash up and powder his nose, so as to schmooze in the bar.
*It was this or 6 pm and Zappo called yesterday to let me know that he should arrive here about six so that would be a bit tight.
I am planning on joining the festivities on Saturday, not Friday. A friend of mine is performing at Plush’s in downtown Cinci on Friday night, and I am going to see her play.
I posted yesterday, but it seems to have vanished!
