What, that they taste different from Oreos? I remember liking them, and TJ’s has great prices. (Though I think the last time I bought those cookies they were $2.99.)

Good evening all. Got my swimming in this afternoon so of course as soon as I got home to start getting ready for soccer with the kids, the rain showed up and cancelled things out. So had a Butterburger and fries from Culvers and took an on-line course from the AYSO (soccer) website that was mandatory (thought I was covered for the next three years, but they updated it and made us all take it again). Since then its been slothing and internettin’ and will shortly head off to bed to do some reading and puzzle-solving before lights out.

Oopsie, hope the brace appointments go with a minimum of fuss.

Doggio, they should change your Job Description to “JOAT” (Jack Of All Trades).

Shoe, I can remember a few big orders like that when I was a short-order cook at a not-so-fancy sit-down restaurant back in my late teens/early twenties. One I remmber the best was when the full bus of folks pulled up and came in…25 minutes to close. The bosses had all gone home and the senior waitress didn’t want to chase them out, so I had to mess up the kitchen I had been prepping for close the past hour fixing 40+ meals. We ended up leaving about 60 minutes after our usual get out time and while they tipped generously, it was still a memory I’d rather not have… But yeah! on the crew pulling together and making it happen.

flyboy, I’ve found the UPS store to be pretty good about doing a lot of stuff like that. Also Staples, if you have one nearby. And did you have to tell me about JoeJoe’s? I’ve done so well avoiding Oreos lately and now you’ve got my cravings going…and the Trader Joe’s is only 8 miles or so away… And WHOOOO on the car picture!!!

That’s great news. I was down a couple pounds on the Moanday weigh-in today, so we both have reasons to be pleased.

Know what you mean. I’m in great shape, but still fret about my checking balance and how much a trip is going to cost and can I find a better price for this and that; my niece and nephews all have good jobs, so dammit I need to go ahead and spend it!

JtC, lovely pictures as always and can’t the moving boxes be recycled someway (they gladly take my excess cardboard here). Sounds like you’re adjusting to Appalachian life better than a certain politician has…

And that’s all he wrote for Moanday. Looks like the rain will be pretty much gone and temperature tomorrow is supposed to reach 94F…Oh joy.

Take care all.

It looks good if you’re far enough away, and if you don’t see the ill-fitting bonnet.

{ shoe has entered the chat }

Yeah, if you want a large with a zillion toppings, double everything … it’s gonna cost ya, and it’s gonna take a while to cook right.

Ah, someone who gets it.

happy bday Swampy have several adult beverages on me …

What’s on their BBQ pizza?

BBQ Chicken: BBQ chicken, fresh garlic, roasted onions, smoked mozzarella on a BBQ & marinara base, smothered in mozzarella.

Tiki Tiki: Experience the exotic flavors of fresh garlic, feta, marinated artichoke hearts, pineapple, mozzarella & your choice of dijon or BBQ chicken on our basil pesto herb base.

Caribbean Crunch: Sundried tomato pesto, fresh garlic, feta, sliced almonds, mango, the finest mozzarella & your choice of dijon or BBQ chicken.

You can also choose Extra Virgin Olive Oil, BBQ Sauce.

the tiki sounds divine the basic needs shrooms which id add on it and the crunch would be my "ehh what the hell " choice when I’m looking for something new …

But at least they don’t put red onions on them as everyone here that makes a BBQ pizza does

Now that you mention it, we may have to try that next time.

I don’t know. The Greek salad had red onions (which I prefer). I didn’t notice what was on the pie. (FWIW, three parcels of leftovers, 2 slices, 2 slices, and 3 slices).

Up from naptime, having the usual Old Fashioned and cheeseburger for dinner.

Praying in a supplicating* manner with arms outstretched, and palms up. It does look like holding an invisible tray

GG in that pic reminds me of this:

Pretty much.

Finishing my cake as I retire for the night.
Got a routine letter from Social Security saying I have 16 points and cannot collect social security til I work 6 more years. You need 40 points.
Apparently I have made about 28,000 my entire working career.
Though I did work somewhere off the record for a few years, the boss apparently didn’t want to claim me as a worker for some financial reason.
No way out of this poverty.

Mrs. L.A. just got a message about her lesion. It’s ‘squamous cell carcinoma’ and is ‘unlikely to spread’. The message was from six days ago. I check my email – and any other messages – obsessively. Mrs. L.A. … not so much. Anyway, her doctor says the lesions must be removed surgically, and that she didn’t get the whole lesion on the biopsy. Mrs. L.A. is angry that ‘someone’ didn’t notify her in a manner that she would like. And I don’t blame her, in spite of her laissez faire attitude toward communication. A phone call would have been in order.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Oops, already in the big bin.

{{{{Coppertone}}}}

Yeah.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a predicted high of 25c/76f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “If every fucking day is a little gift, today you basically get some fucking shitty re-gift. Hooray.” It is a bit overcast out there at the moment but we have been promised another day of scorchio…

Dicey it’s not easy to find triple sec in the supermarkets here either, we have substituted Cointreau in a Margarita before now, but it doesn’t taste quite the same. Out of the four larger supermarket chains in my area, only one of them had triple sec last time I was looking for some. And of course it’s the one furthest away from me!

flyboy I agree, that kind of test result would have warranted a phone call rather than an email. I hope Mrs LA can get it sorted out quickly.

shoe what a monster pizza order, you and your team must have worked really well together to get that done! I hope the tip was generous too

JtC how lovely to see Bella and George getting on so well together, you must be really happy that they are becoming friends. Our Shadow kind of tolerates the girlies, he’s fulfilling the role of combined grumpy old man and grandpa at the moment, he doesn’t have much to do with them most of the time and then he’ll have a good long wail about them.

Oopsie I hope the mass of appointments go without fuss and drama.

Mooom hope the boo-boo continues to heal and to not itch. Letting it get some air sounds like an excellent plan, as does covering it up when you’re out amongst those with delicate sensibilities.

Swampy I’m glad you enjoyed your buffday celebrations!

Cookie wrong thread, but thanks for the link to the brown bears! i shared it with my co-irkers and we’ve been happily wasting time watching them

Yesterday, 'im indoors came back from his trip to Scotland and I had an errand to run so I offered to pick him up from the station, then we’d go and drop off money/collection buckets with the head of Little Paws  I had also said I would cook dinner last night but he came home with a spare kebab, and I’d got one chicken boobie left from a batch I’d cooked over the weekend so we sorted out our own food instead. The chicken I thawed out is in the fridge and he’ll cook that tonight.

Today is domestic rubbish collection so last night before bed, I hauled the biiiiig bin out to the kerb ready for the binmen. As we are in day 2 of a predicted heatwave, I thought they might come round early again and didn’t want to get caught out as my bin is pretty full. I still managed to sneak in another bag of used cat litter this morning - it’s 9am and they haven’t been round yet. Neither of the neighbours either side of us have put their bins out yet, and Ratboy from number 6 has gone out (his car’s not there) so I would have expected him to put their bin out. Idiotboy from number 4 usually puts his out early too but no sign of it.

In other news, today is payday which is always good news since I have to ensure I have been paid before I launch into any more work! I also got a one-off payment that we all got as part of the move to the new terms and conditions. Most people had theirs in August last year but since the union only settled their dispute with the university very recently, those of us who hadn’t signed the new agreement didn’t get ours until now. I’ll also be moving to a new salary band so I’ll be getting 11 months of back-pay in the August wages too. So I’ve paid off my credit card, dumped a chunk in my savings account and treated myself to a bit of band merch. Grocery shopping later, where I will be buying something nice as a treat for the cats.

I just came back from Aldi (of the 5 grocery stores I often walk to, it’s the furthest), and I forgot to see if they had any. I could also look at the beverage market - since they moved, they have a lot more products. I could also just order it online. But the Cointreau is already in the cabinet, and I’m lazy.

In one hour, we will officially be under a heat warning, which is supposed to last until tomorrow evening. We got our new dresser and night stands delivered and hubby is already putting his stuff away. I want to wait until the new wood smell subsides.

Lunch will be fried rice. I made the rice a few days ago, and I just have to cut up the chicken and veg. And cook it, of course. Better than turning on the oven.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 92 with light rain showers late afternoon, once again. Today is laundry day. Be still my heart. Outside of that ‘twill be the usual RDOS inactivities to include, hopefully, some quality cee-mint pond time. Sup shall be BLTs and fries due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’.

Cat_Glove thank you for the song. The words are beautiful!

CupCakes I would have strongly considered bein’ greedy and not sharin’ the cake.

JtC you’re still puttin’ a house together. Unfortunately that takes productivity, but sounds like y’all are makin’ good headway. GG and Bella look so relaxed on their new bed.

Nenno! hope you had a good bday, my younger twin!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Sending good thoughts to you both.

BBBoo sent me some links that say boo-boos heal better when covered. She wouldn’t sent me bogus links, so I shall keep it bandaged. Which means I need to buy more of the big bandaids. Hope I can find some closer to me (other than the over-priced pharmacy) - I really don’t want to drive to WalMart just for them.

I was surprised to find my pension had been deposited - I thought it was due the last day of the month, which is tomorrow. Not that I’ll complain. VISA is once again beaten into submission.

We got a good, soaking rain last night, and another is promised tonight. It was also a weird dreamage night - in this episode, I was wandering around NYC with Randy Rainbow. Absolutely no idea where that came from. My brain is an interesting place.

Today, I need to pick up my BP meds, drop off some mail at the post office (just paranoid enough that I won’t leave it in our box lest someone steal it and wash the enclosed check) and I’ll try again for eggs at Food Lion - yesterday, they were out except for the extra-expensive ones. I need to clean the fridge, too - some of the shelves are kinda icky.

I put the poke shoulder in the slow cooker this morning (just didn’t want to mess with the smoker) and from what I’ve read, it should be falling apart in about 12 hours. It’s not for tonight’s supper - it’ll be pulled poke in the freezer for future meals. Which means I need to get some BBQ sauce also. The stuff we have is too sweet for my taste.

Not sure what else will happen. FCD has gone to the boat to remove some stuff that the electricians at the boat yard will replace (like the fried battery charger.) I’m glad he finally decided to let the pros handle things. They installed one battery, and they’ll replace the other two. No way we could have done that - those boogers are like 75# each. Better to let the young, strong guys deal with them. We’re not sure when they’ll get to us - plus they have to order some parts (like that damned $500 circuit breaker) so I expect the work will happen bit by bit. Still, I feel better that my poor sweetie won’t continue to abuse his back and legs in the cramped engine room.

I should probably also get the weather cloths done. I have measurements now - maybe I’ll work on that this afternoon.

MIL just got up. Time to drug her and feed her.

Happy Tuesday!!

Good morning.

It’s 64F, and a light rain is falling. The day is expected to be cloudy, with periods of light rain this morning and a high temperature of 74F.

I have a bottle of Triple Sec that probably should be tossed. I’ve probably had it for at least 15 years. We don’t drink a lot of drinks that require it, lol. We don’t drink all that often anymore, and when I do, I tend to favor a good spiced rum and diet coke.

Yesterday’s in-office day was quite busy, but it always is. We had a significant water intrusion the week before last, and repair efforts have been glacial. I came into the office yesterday to discover SD’s office still tented off, blowers going, and drywall removal on the lower quarter of all the walls in her office and outside the office. The carpet had also been removed all along the walls. Anyway, another email to the property management company resulted in a “we’ll get back to you with a timeline for completion” response. I’ll check in again today. The repair crew didn’t show up until well after noon yesterday.

Remember the project I told you about? Guess who owns it now? Yep, me. The SD was super pleased with my progress and stated I had done more in a day than the PIO had done in TWO years. No shit? I already know that. As I was talking to her and my boss on Teams, I received a Teams message from the PIO stating he would LOVE it if I took over and he’d work under me. We all know this really means he’s trying to shed himself from the project. I expressed this to both the SD and my boss, and they wholeheartedly agreed with my setting boundaries for what I would do and what I wanted the PIO to do. I sent my response to the PIO stating I expect regular (weekly) work from him on this project and gave him a list of things I need. I also told the SD and my boss this project will likely not be completed by the end of the FY because two programs have yet to build their pages, and I just have a lot of other stuff going on, which includes training the new MPA, and now, at least two trips to Spokane by the end of the FY, along with year-end close out, building a spend plan for next FY, awards for everyone in the state (a whole convoluted process), some other leasing issues with two different offices, and the list goes on. Oh, and now I’m part of some cooperative agreement process too, which is a big time-suck.

Two more work wake-ups after today and then I’m on vacation…

I love a good cheesecake and can make really good cheesecakes too. But, it’s just the hubby and I here, and that’s just too much of that goodness in the house. He’ll eat some, but he doesn’t lurve it like I do, so it would end up going bad.

Woke up this morning to find Buster on the coffee table in the living room whining, and not sure how to get down. I have my coffee table up against the window until I get rid of it. Maisie was acting nervous. Obviously, something was in the yard overnight/wee hours. I haven’t had large wildlife or even possums in my backyard for years. While Polar was around, he was quite the hunter and I had to get rid of a few possum corpses. Soon, they stopped showing up. I hadn’t seen evidence of possum in my yard for at least the last 10 years. I don’t worry about stuff in getting in through the pet door because Maisie is quite the barker/alerter.

Okay, time for more coffee. I’ve been interrupted many times while trying to type out this missive, so I must take care of some things.

I’m sending you all yays, hugs, and boos as appropriate.

I’ve noticed the same thing for the past several months, FCM; the checks start appearing a couple days before the start of the new month. Like you say, not complaining, but it is noticeable.

Taters, any bets that the PIO fulfills the list of your requirements? At least they are on the record now and shouldn’t have any excuses (but they will, they will). Keep counting the hours to vacation!

swampy, happy laundry day, which reminds me I need to fold and store my underwear, which is still sitting in the basket next to my bed.

boo fae, sounds like the old bank account got a nice boost.

flyboy, add me to the list of those who think ‘carcinoma’ deserves a call, even if it unlikely to spread. Hope the removal goes well.

OK, I can see clearly now, the rain has gone. The only obstacle in my way is the stinkin’ heat, 94F today and 96F tomorrow. Not planning on doing much of anything outside except maybe for the gym later today.

Have a good 2sDay all.
