A lot of people out again, and Sorting Matt wasn’t feeling well. But we managed. Now it’s the weekend, it’s raining, and I have 6 cases of beer, and a fifth of rum.
“If you 30 minutes of extreme spins, power chug 14 shots of Jose Cuervo on an empty stomach. Class dismissed.”
So your new Mumper nickname is gonna be Stumpy, isn’t it?
“I’m the center-most UberKaren in the Multiverse, and I should get what I want”
So hearing about the busted case of crickets wouldn’t amuse you?
I take a train to/from work. I might see a ticket controller about once or twice a month. That’s because it’s a local train, which normally only has a driver. The regional trains also only have a driver.
It is the responsibility of the passenger to make sure that they have the correct ticket before boarding.
Ticket controls are random and the consequences are expensive. Passengers without the correct ticket will be fined.
Dinner was hamburgers - I wanted to use up the last 2 buns from last weekend’s burgers (or was that the weekend before last?).
Getting close to tv time - maybe a movie, as it’s Saturday night.
It started right up. Then I had to shut it down to get to more wood. Wouldn’t start. Wore myself out. Called the hardware store. Eventually got it started. Saw that the chain was sagging outside of its track, so I shut it down and adjusted it. Couldn’t get it started after that. Gave up. The Jeep was full anyway. Got about five minutes of use out of a $40 rental. The guy at the hardware store gave me a refund, which was very nice of him.
We’re home. We scrubbed about 3/4 (maybe a bit more) of the outside. Some of it was really gross! And some of it didn’t want to come clean - we’ll try again with some soft-scrub-with-bleach. Pretty much all that’s left is the flybridge and the area around one window. Not sure when we’ll finish, with rain in the forecast for the next 2 days.
I think tomorrow we’ll try to get the love seat to MIL. So I need to repair a little hole in the slipcover. Other than that, much chillage for the rest of today. All of a sudden, I’m whipped!
DId a little Wal-Mart shopping, went and got two more pair of athletic shoes (I bought size 11.5 yesterday and they are a wee bit to big, so I got 11’s). These were full price but still only $65 for two pairs, so still a bargain. Will probably donate the others to Purple Heart the next time they come around. Then swimming (900 yards), whirlpool (30 minutes) and sauna (25 minutes) to round out my gym time. Thinking about an early Sunday dinner out, the English soccer league ends its season tomorrow with 10 games at 10:30am, so I’ll eat my Sattiday meal watching some of those games. At least that’s the plan.
I can see why she said to pile things up into a big pile. When you see everything in one great pile it is a bit stunning. 2 big bags for the goodwill bin.
I found that if you picked it up and smiled or thought I look good in this, that was sparking joy. Keep that item. There was some trying on every now and again.
I did not add in the winter clothes, they are in on-site storage. That would be easier to do down there.
I’m continuing to work on the shoe pile. First I put on the shoes, if they hurt they go in the bin bag, if they don’t hurt I wear them that day. If all goes well and they spark joy they stay. If not… bin bag.
Howdy Y’all! The cheesecake got made. Afterwards much laziness ensued. OK, since I did not make the cake my laziness has already ensued. We had sammiches and then achieved nappage. Day drinkin’ beside the pool has been accomplished, although, I foresee a round two of that in the very near future.
shoe idjits gotta idjit is all I can say.
Pulley glad you are adjustin’ to the situation. Hope they can get it all fixed up soonest.
Just up from nappage on the back porch. The sun came around the big tree and it got too hot. Pizza dough is rising, still undecided if’n I’ll cook it in the oven or on the grill. Leaning towards inside, cuz I’m feeling lazy.
We went for a road trip and took a long drive through the pretty countryside south of Holllister. Then we finished up at San Juan Bautista and went to a barbecue joint and had just about the best baby back ribs I can remember eating. And the place makes a killer potato salad as well.
For the remainder of the day, I’m setting up a time to buy our Medigap and Part D policies, and possibly clean a bathroom. And then I’ll set out some Terro bait for the damned ants in the backyard that won’t die.
I don’t know that dinner will be necessary after all that barbecue, but we’ll see.
The MG’s bonnet has been stowed in the boot. (Translation: The MG’s top has been stowed in the trunk.)
Mrs. L.A. is going to reheat some pizza in a few minutes. She’s having a margarita, and I’m having ‘ranch water’ (Hornytoads tequila, lime juice, and club soda).
*VanGo, if you haven’t already made supper, do the pizza on te grill. If the patio is too warm, running the oven inside will definitely be.
Got a few things accomplished today, but rested more than anything. Now, I’m watching videos, surfing and cuddling a small reddish dog. Sounds like a good Saturday night.
Remember, if you didn’t bring enough for everyone to share, the teacher will not be happy with you. Sensei will scold you if there’s not enough to go around.
The best part about Yanker’s dream is that I could totally see Parton doing that.
As long as we can make Mexican appetizers with 'em it’s all good.
Or Hop-a-long
Last tool I rented was a Bissell carpet cleaner from Home Depot. Got it home and filled the respective tanks with hot water & their magic $20 soap. Fired it up and it wouldn’t dispense soap; just water. Much cursing, and of course we were pushing a deadline to be out of the condo so it could be photographed then sold.
Ended up with me pushing the cleaner across the room while Her Ladyship bent over double spraying soap out of pump-spritzer bottle just in front of the thing while it dispensed hot water. Finally got the work done but her morale & back took a beating.
Had quite a process trying to turn the damn thing in. The clerk could not comprehend the idea it was broken. It plugs in and turns on; what else could be needed? Sigh.
Did get the rental reduced to half price.
@teelabrown: congrats on Hubby’s retirement also. Big jump for you both at once. You’ll knock it out of the park I’m sure.
As to me:
Survived a lovely drone across the Gulf down to Cancun & right back. Then after a short break to catch up on Doping headed off to N’Awlins’ where I am now.
My FO is a very cute and personable ~30yo single dude who lives outside New Orleans. Which is why he had arranged to work this particular trip. So as soon as we parked, he dashed for his car to go home, leaving me with the rest of the crew & pax. Normal stuff.
As we were deboarding the flight here one of the hot young FAs corners me and asks if he’s single, cause he’s causing her hot flashes just looking at him. “He is” sez I. “Can I introduce them?” sez she. Sure. So the game is afoot. Kids are so fun! We picked these FA’s up passing through MIA for just this one leg and they’re leaving immediately back for MIA, so this one chance meeting is it; two airships passing in the night perhaps not to cross paths again for a year or three.
Anyhow, since FO went home I went to the downtown hotel alone. Which is hosting a graduation exercise for some post-HS academic thingy I haven’t identified. But lots and lots of young 20yo grads in their regalia with proud parents beaming. Sweet.
I am dining alone & slowly here: Copper Vine | Wine Bar & Restaurant in Downtown New Orleans. They have a very nice garden patio and here in the warm early dusk I’m having a Vieux Carre’ in honor of one of our male Mumpers (Rat? Doggio? Swampy? All three?) The opening appetizer (mixed olives) & soup (French shallot) course was excellent.
I’m about to order the main course with a suitable wine, after consulting my lovely scrawny hippie-chick waitress for advice. … And the verdict is: 12oz roast pork chop w goat cheese grits, veggies, etc., and a glass of French Viognier.
I’ve already got the course after that picked out.
