(Old) A Head For The Hills MMP

koritza does not like the tube-goo, lager loses his mind over it.

it took koritza some time to entertain the notion of temptations. she prefers full crunch, no goo.

18 and 19 (time really does fly)

'Beamer graduates high school June 2, and then on to community college. The plan is that he’ll load up his prerequisites and switch to a 4 year college in a few years.

'Beamette is a few years behind due to the issues she’s had after her TBIs. She’s chugging along, but it will be a few more years until she graduates. She wants to go directly to a 4 year college, and study library sciences or graphic design.

I feel like Mooommm. I’ve been chugging along on my chores today. ADHD medication makes a huge difference for me.

I’m taking a short break and then I’m tackling our closet. Thoughts and prayers please. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Goo doesn’t like the kitty hairball goo. So Cat Mom just puts it on Goo’s fur somewhere, and Goo eats the goo as she is cleaning it off.

Kids have been turned over to their mother and I can relax.

FCD got a jury summons in today’s mail - he was not impressed.

Supper = scrambled eggs w/ham-n-onions because it’s easy and I’m in no mood for fancy cooking. After that gawd-awful nightmare, I need max chillage. And an early bedtime.

The death ray eyes say it all. 110% feline~I wouldn’t want to test that.

Howdy Y’all! Dealt with the meetin’ which was a bit long for my taste, got back to da cave and chilled. Sup got fixed and et and the kitchen cleanded up. Now for more chillage. I got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for onion dip, so I made some. I did stop at the burly butcher sto’ and get some dip chips cause one needs ridges in chips for dippin’.

gigity I looked up the story about the Nazi flag fool. Hope they throw the book at 'im.

MetalMouse you look quite dapper in your rainbow goatee.

I hope that the PT works well for you wet one. I know when I’ve taken it for various injuries, it has helped.

Welcome back 2gig! Hope that you have the opportunity to hang out with us more often.

Ouch on the tooth sunny.

What color vehicles do you drive JtC? If they’re light colored, the birds will leave you presents from your mulberry tree. :stuck_out_tongue:

metal mouse, you are wise to get a room in Knoxville, even with it being only three hours away. You’ll be reffing several hours a day and six hours on the road would make for some long days.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson before there were more than a few sprinkles and selected a retirement card from my stash for Miss Dorothy at irk (she retires at the first of the month). Now for chillage until bedtime.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

That makes a whole lot more sense than the yank version. Especially considering the part about mulberry bushes…because there isn’t any such thang.

What do your grocery stores run out of when it snows? Out west, it’s usually bread, cheap beer, frozen pizza and milk.

See…I really don’t believe in any of that stuff. During the day. 3am thoughts can sometimes be not quite so logical, especially if I’ve spent the last couple of hours reading a King book and listening to the wind howl.

Everything I know about vampires I learned from cheesy movies, so I am not an expert…but vampires can’t really check their make-up anymore, no reflection. All they can go on is what they looked like just before they got undeaded. Just imagine how awful it would be to spend eternity wishing you had taken just a minute to fix your uneven sideburns before you left for that final day in the sun!

Hurray! Bats are awesome. Plant some 4 o’clocks and put out some hummer feeders. It always entertains me to see how the feeders drain at night during the winter.

Throw them in some ramon noodles along with a handful of peas and some scallions.

Next time go for the freeze dried chicken treats, ours just lurve them.

Hubs had to teach Steve to eat bacon. We wondered the same about him.

I haven’t mentioned this to hubs yet. However, the tree is in the back yard and our front yard looks like an empty parking lot…no trees or bushes or anything so the birds don’t really have any reason to hang out there. He does park his beloved Harley back there after it has had a bath…so that could be bad.

So, a lady the next town over asked for a trap on Nextdoor and I offered to lend her ours. (She is moving and her cats are not cooperating.)

She came over to get it this morning and insisted that I take 20 bucks for helping her. We both got that stubborn old lady look on our faces while looking at the money, then I gave up because she looked to be older than me and probably had more practice than me. I’ll give it to my friend who feeds and fixes the strays when next I see her. She never says no to money, LOL!

As long as we are discussing money, how much are you guys paying for a dozen eggs now? I remember they went sky high for a while but have since come back down. I’ve been paying 3 bucks a dozen for a couple of years and think that maybe I should give the egg lady a raise to 4 bucks a dozen.

What do you guys think?

I also realized that New Friend might not have neighbors with chickens so offered to bring some to Tai Chi this week. She sounded pretty happy about the idea of fresh eggs but her hubs Dr. appointment had been moved from Friday to Thursday, so she’s going to miss the class :frowning:

Dinner of our usual craft taco Tuesdays has been absorbed. Along with a margarita & chips with queso. Yum.

It’s been an intermittently sprinkly afternoon, but has cleared up so although we brought umbrellas on or walk to/from the eatery they were not needed. Plenty warm though.

Tomorrow my irk shift starts at 2am. So early to bed it shall be. As with today I’m at a lot of risk for the first couple of hours then the risk recedes. We shall see.

Finally tore myself away from the Doritos. Spaded for awhile but got distracted by the maple tree branches and chinese elm branches poking through the fence from the neighbor’s yard so got the shears and cut off a number of those suckers. Then Hubs came out and said he had called a new Mexican restaurant and ordered an enchilada dinner and a tostada. So I drove and he road shotgun. The enchiladas were pretty good, a lot of cheese. The tostada was not as good as the ones I would have for lunch in San Antonio.

I waited in the car while Hubs went in to get the dinner. There was a Harley 2 parking spaces over. A past middle age couple came out wearing some very worn leathers with their club name on the back which was Penetrators . Hers also said “Property of Clutch” on the back. Felt bad for her that she ever felt like she was the property of a man.

Yeah…that’s a thing with the outlaw clubs. It’s not a good thing IMHO, but then outlaw clubs aren’t usually up to a whole lot of good either.

Every year, putting patches on old ladies comes up at hub’s club from new members…and the usual response by the old timers is “I don’t wanna sleep with my bike, I wanna sleep with my ol’ lady and if I’m stoopid enough to try to put something like that on her…its sleep with the bike for the rest of my life”.

Happily, I am seeing fewer of them as the years go by.

We celebrated Taco Tuesday by getting tacos at the local take out place “El Gordos”. They deep fry their taco shells which is so unhealthy…but so good. At 1.75 each, it’s cheaper than making our own.

My Trader Joe’s kebabs are done, according to the Ding! on the toaster oven. I’ll have two wraps with Carb Balance Spinach & Herb tortillas, sour cream (because we don’t have any tzatziki), lettuce, and tomato. The Spousal Unit had a chicken salad sandwich before I got home.

Evening all. Did some mailing, filled up gas tank and got 500+ calories pedaled off, so the afternoon went well. Mac-n-Cheese as usual for a Tuesday night and now keeping an eye on the NBA game (I usually don’t watch it on the TV until the 4th quarter, just check in on-line now and then). Nothing much on the agenda for tomorrow, so might even do some housework…or not…

JtC, I don’t buy eggs, but Kroger has them for $2.98/dozen (large Grade A), so $3 sounds fair…of course, might be different in your neck of the country.

red, I’ll probably refereeing from 8am to around 5-6pm on and off for 3 days, so yeah, commuting would not be a good idea.

Sunny, congrats to Beamer on the impending graduation. Best wished to Beamette. And I’m with Pilot, mass transportation, if it goes where I want, is the best option available. Might not be the fastest, but certainly is the cheapest. If the kids don;t find it exciting, find a video on the Shanghai Maglev to the airport. Comfortable traveling at 260MPH!

Pilot, interesting story about the bats. Most I’ve ever seen is at Carlsbad Caverns, literally hundreds of thousands come out at sunset to go insect hunting, the sight (and truth be told, the smell) is overwhelming.

OK, NBA game is at halftime, so still time to internet some more. All y’all take care.

Happy Toosday!

Welcome back 2gig!

Nice morning at the park. Not too hot, not too cold, and a bit cloudy.
Only me and Lucy dad, I guess I should call him Petey dad now, and a girl we don’t know.
She had a cute dog that hung out with us.

I got annoyed at the person in front of me when driving to the park
He had a ‘COEXIST’ bumper sticker on his car, but drove 10 miles under the speed limit the whole time. The lights through town are synced and I barely made it through without catching a red light.
I thought I don’t give a fuck about your religion, but if you want to coexist with me, you need to put the pedal to the metal. Nobody has time for your piddly assed driving.

I sat outside for a while when we got home. The honeysuckle is out and I love the smell.
I really need to get in there and cut out the other stuff growing up through it.
When my son cut the grass, I forgot to ask him to leave the buttercups alone. At least I think they are buttercups. He mowed them, but I saw some bright yellow out there today. Although, after reading about them, it is probably better to get rid of them. There are also some wild carrots and wild strawberries out there.
Most of the yard is clover, but broad leaf plantains are taking over. They are supposed to be good for you, but they don’t look very appetizing to me.
It’s amazing what will grow if you weed whack instead of mow the yard.
I wish the cleomes would come back. Everybody told me they will take over your yard and you will never get rid of them.
Not true.

Tomorrow is the big day!
I am so excited!
Except about the drive, I am dreading the drive.

I had a mulberry tree when I lived in Baltimore, along with an apple tree and a crab apple tree.
I never tried them, but one of the kids in the neighborhood said his grandmother sent him up to ask if he could pick some for her to bake a pie.

My uncle used to say he didn’t believe in ghosts, but he was still scared of them.
I have so many ghost stories…

Okay, I’ll tell you one.
I was pet sitting for a couple from out of state. HIs mother, who lived not far from me, had recently died in a car accident. She had three cats and they needed me to take care of them until they could arrange to move them to their house. One of the cats had an issue and I had to make up food for her in a blender, so they needed me twice a day.
They took me on a tour of the house, and showed me his grandmother’s room. His mother had been taking care of the grandmother, but after the mother died, the grandmother had to go into a nursing home. I had to walk through grandmother’s room to the next room where the cat food and litter boxes were.
One day I get there and was startled to see a woman bent over the grandmother’s bed smoothing the sheets. I froze, not expecting to see anybody, except then I realized that not only could I see a woman smoothing the sheets, I could see through the woman smoothing the sheets.
I guess I startled her as well, because she suddenly stood up straight and turned towards me, then she put her hands out in front of her, screamed NOOOOO! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! and ran towards me.
Of course, she went right through me, and had a look of surprise on her face as she slowly vanished.
Poor woman, I probably scared the hell out of her too.
I would never abandon animals in my care, but I can assure you, I could get into that house, whip up the cat food in a blender, wash the blender, fill two feeding stations in two different room, clean three litter boxes in three different rooms and be out of there in under 5 minutes.
I was so relieved when that job was done.

Another time, this was right after OAOASO’s father died.
I had never met his father, so I was rather surprised when I woke up to see him standing in my bedroom. He told me to tell OAOASO something. The message didn’t make sense to me, so I figured I dreamed it and left it alone. Well… He showed up another night and a little more forcefully said to give his son a message. So, feeling stupid as shit, I told OAOASO what his father said.
OAOASO gave me a weird look and walked away. I thought oh shit, he thinks I’m crazy.
He came back over to me and said his father used to say that to him all the time. It made sense to him.
Point and laugh all you want; I believe in ghosts. I’ve had too many encounters not to.

Ugh, past my bed time and it looks like my son may be getting off irk at 1or 2 am.

Up from naptime, having a Manhattan. Somebody saw a Darci like dog up the road. Best case, she’s working her way home. Worst case, I might help someone else find their dog.

Spot is a banana slut.

I’m starting to think that Spot is a surgically altered Yorkie.

I’m up in the middle of the night, I thought my son was getting off around 1, so I stayed up.
Now I can finish my post.

I hope all is going well with you (((Sunny}}}

Store brand eggs, large, 18 count, $2.19.
I guess they are coming down in price.

I know Adam is a real cat, but he is a nice cat. He doesn’t get up on the counters and if he gets on a table, he doesn’t knock things off.
He did try to kill me the other night by walking in front of me and suddenly sitting down.
He shouldn’t do that when I am half crippled. I suffer from inertia. It takes a bit to get me moving and once I get going, I don’t stop so well.

Imgur

MetalMouse, I’ll have to look you up on FB. I’d like to see the beard.

Son just called, he’s off irk

Hello, everyone. I know I’ve been gone a long time and have missed a lot. (Don’t tell me: Swampy’s gay, right?) I had sort of an identity crash, if that makes sense. I realized that I was still seeing myself as a former teacher who had lots to say, whereas the rest of the world saw me as retired, period, and understandably don’t want to hear me yammer on. My experiences aren’t relevant any more. Realizing this hit me hard. B-b-b-but, I was GOOD, dammit! I trained teachers in other states, was selected to work on state curriculum, and have a raft of student stories, blah, blah, blah. A reality check was in order, and I had to face that most people want to hear my opinions and student stories about as much as they wanted to see LBJ’s gallbladder scars. I’m trying to revise my identity. It’s slow, and I’m not nearly there yet, but I’m making progress.

I’ve mentioned a number of times that my ex was diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder and other issues. I stayed in the marriage way too long, but I thought it was best for the kids because they seemed to be doing OK, and I knew divorce would be traumatic. They’re both grown now, and I found out that they have anxiety issues that can be traced to their father’s behavior. Because my now-ex’s wrath was directed at me, not them, I thought they’d be OK. I was wrong, and I feel terrible about it. I should have gotten us out of there much sooner.

I’ve thought of all of you daily and have missed you more than I can say. I’m caught up on this week’s MMP, but that’s about it. I probably won’t be on here as often as I used to be, but you’re too important to me to stay away for long.

I wanted to address this to pullin, though. There is no way in hell you should be blamed for moving during cataract surgery. IANAD, but I’ve been through 14 eye surgeries, including several on the intro-ocular lens. Every eye surgery I’ve had, my arms were restrained by straps. Yours should have been, too, and your head should have been taped to the table. If you COULD move during surgery, it’s their fault, not yours. I’m really appalled that they’re blaming you for this.

Did they tell you what specifically was injured during the surgery? From your description, your vision loss seems like what I had after one IOL surgery, when I got endophthalmitis, an infection inside the eyeball. It was like looking through the sediment in a river bottom. Does that sound familiar? Or was your retina damaged? Are you on antibiotics or other medicine? I’m pullin’ for you!

Hugs to everyone. You mean a lot to me.

I’m up, caffeinated, and sheveled. And off TO heave.

Me: < pours glass of seltzer >
Spot: “I am intrigued by your angry water.”
He is currently engaged in a life or death struggle with my left work boot. Which is going to make leaving somewhat awkward.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 18c/64f, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “This weather is fine. Just think, you could be eating yoghurt with Stevie Wonder, but you’re fucking not.” So there you have it, I’m drinking tea and catching up with you lot instead.

Bread and milk would be the usual ones. These days our local supermarket seems to have random shortages of all sorts of things so eggs, mushrooms, cat litter…your guess is as good as mine! Fortunately we can get most of the basics from the corner shop anyway, so it’s not a massive problem when there’s a bit of snow on the ground.

nellie good to see you back again! Sorry to hear you’ve been having “you” problems. For what it’s worth, I enjoy your stories - our life experiences make us who/what we are, so why should we hide them? I don’t think you should feel so guilty about your divorce situation either, you did what you thought was best at the time. Nobody knows how these things will affect other people long afterwards, nobody knows really what they could/should have done either. You deal with what’s in front of you and do what you think is best for everyone - that’s all anyone can do.

doggio still got fingers and paws crossed for Darci!

Nothing exciting going on here - today I have a team meeting and a professional services forum which all sounds way more grand that it actually is. I predict many cups of tea to survive the day. Fortunately it’s Wednesday and that means pub night with friends tonight to look forward to.

Really busy these days so I just skimmed the news. I hope I didn’t miss anything important.

After procrastinating a month, it was time to change the winter tires for the summer ones. Each set has their own rims so it’s just a bunch of manual labor to do it. I haven’t done anything with cars since I was growing up helping my father.

Good god, that was a nightmare. My father would be in a bad mood and the littlest mistake would make him blow up. I didn’t have a car in Tokyo for the longest time, only the last couple of years.

In Taiwan, it was cheap enough that we just had all the service done.

My kids have the sniffles, but no one is really sick.
