(Old) Another English Autumnal MMP

I tend to go for sweet potato chips when I feel the want. I’m ok with most kinds of flavors / brands of potato chips, they’re like fries in that I can usually take or leave them.

Fargin’ bastiges! I hate it when insurance companies decide that they know more than medical types.

What? No draw string?

I’m wondering if it’s fall break for the schools for the rest of the week. The school zone lights weren’t flashing on the way home from irk. One more day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

They are adorable! Tail cuddle!

Howdy Y’all! Home (actually been home for a while) from Hump Day activities over to the church house. The tacos were good and there were brownies for dessert. I enjoyed the discussion class. It’s a catechism/religion (OK, catechism is religion, but this goes beyond catechism) class. I think OYKW may not want to continue doin’ this, which is, of course, his choice. He’s all growed up and can do what he wants. I did tell him that if he just wanted to come for sup and hang out time it would be fine. However, seems he’s leanin’ toward it just not bein’ his thang.

Sticky_Buns sorry you’re havin’ to go through this. Here’s hopin’ for a successful resolution soonest.

Taters glad your son is comin’ to visit. It says a lot that he feels hangin’ with the 'rents is a good way to decompress.

MOOOOOOM I also shop at Aldi and Food Kitty when they have sales. The Pubic Sto’ is a bit closer and generally has good prices on stuff. Plus I don’t mind sto’ brands for a lot of stuff. Glad MIL did not hurt herself too badly.

MetalMouse happy mowage. I shall accomplish that over to the church house tomorrow.

So it looked like a short day today..
< cues The Socerer’s Apprentice music >
so 10 hours later, I got it all wrapped up(including rewrapping the rug that will really tie the room together).
So after a short nap, I’m up and watching preseason hockey.

{{{{sticky}}}}

Oy vey. A lot better than your’s.

Spot also. At one point when I was walking past the ottoman he decided to leap onto it full speed, and crashed into my wrist. Ow.

That’s why I talk to Spot. But good luck on the gym changes

I do Aldi for the basics, and Teeter for the luxury items. I don’t shop Food Kitty, except for chili oil and Margret Holmes Peppers and Peas

Very little to report. It was shot day. There were colorful characters (and a sweet dog) on the bus. I walked 6 miles.

Back in the 90s, kids couldn’t bring even plastic swords to the high school. We had to use metal yardsticks to reenact the scene where Mercutio gets fatally stabbed by Tybalt. (“'Tis not as deep as a well, but it’s 9.5 centimeters, so 'twill serve.”). The admins were sticklers. Fast-forward to 2014, and 2 girls run up to tell me that while having lunch in the park across the street, a kid showed them he had a gun in his backpack. The kid was known among us teachers as Most Likely to Shoot Up the School, so I tried numerous times to get an admin to do something. They never got around to it. :woman_shrugging:

How long do you have to keep awakening MIL? Overnight?

Oh, nos, Rocker! Rest up! Fingers crossed that it’s not a severe case!

Sticky, you can still appeal.n You need to submit a written request and then fill out a form explaining your Very Good Reason for tardiness. A letter from the lawyer’s office would probably help.

That’s great! How many songs have you written? Are they country, pop, rock…rap? My brother-in-law had a pal who was a musician who went to some kind of all-night jam session with Kristofferson. He (K.) was such a great songwriter. Back in the 70s, I read a review of a concert that said, “Kristofferson walked onto the stage, and instantly every woman there forgot her husband or boyfriend.” Good looks, talent, and brains (a Rhodes scholar, yet!). Who wouldn’t forget she was in a relationship?

Leave the toys. Take the chips.

Congrats on the compliments! Well-deserved, ma’am, well-deserved.

Shady, glad I wasn’t eating when I read about the lump. Ew.

Taters, wear hunter orange! Hunters be rabid this time of year.

That’s a wonderful “problem” to have. Congratulations!

How rude!

Well, I’ve contacted three lawyers now and have not heard back from any of them. It was not SSDI that I applied to because I am/was a teacher. It was the State Teachers blah blah blah organization that I am required to apply with. Which in and of itself is a joke. Even if I had gotten disability, I would have not gotten health insurance with it. If you still think I’m wrong, I’d love to know, but I fear that I am probably right.

Happy Hump Day!

Life has been bit messy.
Misiu was sick, I was sick, my computer still is having issues, and also issues with wi-fi.
I think everything is better now, but one never knows.
I have thought that before and was proven wrong.

We have not been to the park in many weeks, and the dogs are doing their best to make me pay for it. They are also very unhappy about all the rain. Even Rayleigh, who usually doesn’t mind it, has had enough. He and Echo do their best to walk in the rocks under the eaves. Misiu waits until I open the garage door, then rushes from the house trying to keep his feet from touching the ground. It’s kind of funny to watch. I think they would not enjoy the park too much, but in their mind, it might not be raining there.

My son is going to have a lot of fun mowing this weekend.
I have a lot to do and am getting very stressed over it.
ToDo Lists are like Hydras, you cross two things off and five more appear.
I did something to the bathroom (pocket) door and now if you close it all the way it sticks and doesn’t want to open. I had a momentary panic tonight when I thought I was going to be stuck in there. I guess if you have to be stuck in a room, that is the room to be stuck in.

I have to agre with you about DJs, FCM. I have Sirius now and even they talk too much. So glad to be away from the other crap. All the local ones had stupid stuff, jokes, contests, question of the day. The worst was BOB. Every damn day they would have text messages, emails, and phone calls from listeners just to tell them good morning, or some other bs. Of course the DJs would have to read the texts and emails on the air, and play the phone calls. Everybody has Bob names, like CrazyBob, PlumberBob, LazyBob, RooferBob.
I used to say DJs shou;d be limited to Time, Tunes,Traffic, and maybe Weather. We don’t need Time anymore, as vehicles come with clocks now.

I found out it is a small development going in down the road. Only 25 houses, and it looks like the road is going to be widened. It needs it down that end anyway. At the very end where it connects to a more main road, only one car can get through at a time. If somebody is pulling out, anybody turning in has to wait. Many times I have stopped back from the end so a person turning in has room.
I kind of like it that way.
I still don’t know who will want to buy that close to the train tracks.

I have a lot of catching up to do, which I probably won’t do because y’all are a chatty bunch.

Welcome home Dicey.

That sux Sticky, I hope it all does get worked out.

Sorry about the plague Rocky

I can live without potato chips, except when I am sick. Then I want potato chips, barbeque is best, and ice cream. Two foods I generally don’t care for.

Tomight is barbeque night at my son’s job, I hope he gets a lot of leftovers. Even though his job provides foil for them, he says everybody has caught on and brings containers from home now. They want everything to go home so they don’t have to throw it out.

Just got back from the gym, added some pedaling to my swimming this afternoon so many calories burned and should sleep well tonight. Temperature is down to 68F so another comfortable night.

Oopsie, for what it’s worth, I think you’re making the right decision on the personal trainer. And stick with the gym; you never know when something might take. All the rest seems sound and logical, hoping you follow through.

Haven’t decided yet; If I want to go big SUV the Nissan Armada is a possibility, but I may move to a Toyota Highlander Hybrid, the Highlander was my favorite car ever and while I don’t feel confident in an all-electric vehicle, a hybrid may be a better choice. Or I could decide on something completely different.

The drawstings are only so long… And we have Fall break this week too, and yes, they take the whole week off.

Sari, hope everyone is doing better. And these days, people will buy housing almost anywhere. I’m a little worried myself, our cul-de-sac ends in some woods, and there is machinery now tearing out trees and making a path through the forested area, don’t know what they are doing, but hopefully it’s not new housing, living on a dead-end street has been nice.

And that’s all for Hump day. see all y’all tomorrow.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. We’ll see what the Unload Division of TVCTPMO has in store for me today.

Nah, the clock just retail for too long.

I hope you’re wrong about being wrong.

Channeling his inner Gordie.

lol the size difference is sooo cute lol

fall break in the south was for the literal cotton pickin harvest … wasn’t much of a break from what I read …

i lived at the top of the cul de sac …we blocked off the driveway and the city put a barrier so people flying down the street didn’t miss the turn jump our curb and splatter one of us …well after it almost happened the first time anyways

That’s right - typically most UK plumbing involves separate hot and cold taps which is a bizarre concept to most non-Brits. We’re just used to it!

I’m sorry about the PT but it sounds like it wasn’t quite the best thing. I like having a gym fairly close to home, and paying the membership fee is a motivation to actually use it! I know I can go in there and just do half an hour on the elliptical thing or whatever takes my fancy, and I feel better afterwards knowing I’ve actually done something

Sticky Buns I’m sorry that the medical woes continue, but glad you have a route out.

Rocky sorry to hear about the plague, feel better soonest!

Yesterday was a busy irk day and felt like it was at least a week long! My pub friends cancelled due to various health issues so I decided to stay at home and we’d get a takeaway for dinner. Turned out well, I have some leftovers to go with the leftover curry in the fridge for tonight’s dinner.

Another busy day beckons, I have two official meetings, I’ve got a lunch date with my friend who’s leaving her job tomorrow, and a bunch of meeting minutes still to finish off. Tonight I will be doing leftovers of all sorts for dinner, and slothing on the sofa until bed beckons.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 66 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 84 and partly N.O.S. It’s positively frigid out there! :ice_cube: The big item on today’s agenda is mowage over to the church house. This time is mowage around the front part of da yahd just to make things look good around the church house itself. The upper forty, i.e. the part not seen from the road is not too bad so will not get mowed this go round. I shall head over around eight-thirtyish and hopefully 'twill all be done around noonish. Needless to say, a shower and nappage will be needed upon return to da cave. Sup shall be leftovers from Tuesday’s sup.

doggio I like most of the Margaret Holmes canned peas and beans. I doctor them up, as I’m sure you do. I also like the fact that they don’t taste like the can; like some canned veggies do.

MetalMouse sounds like housin’ about to go up to me. When I moved into da cave, there were woods all behind. However, I knew then that would not be forever. Houses started goin’ up three years later.

BooFae every once in a while sup consists of whatever’s in da fridge. It’s adventure eatin’!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, I suppose I should make myself a bit presentable (comb hair, shave, passable shevelment) and head on over to the church house to commence mowage.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

My upstairs bathroom has separate hot and cold faucets which appear to be part of the ‘original equipment’ - although thinking about it now, it probably was added at least a little bit later. I don’t think that the house had indoor plumbing originally. Having been built in 1874, it has the front house and the servant’s quarters which have it’s own staircase and there is even a step up into the main house on the second floor and a slant upwards on the first floor. Anyways, where the upstairs bathroom is located would surely have been sleeping quarters for the servants. :thus concludes today’s history of Sticky’s home:

You need to do all of this for mowing??

Sari, I hope everything works out ok and that you feel better soon.

Today I get to dig into my new job in earnest. I spent a couple of hours yesterday reading background stuff. I tried to start a game plan last night, but I was just too frazzled. Speaking of frazzled, I had forgotten about an initial contact that I’d had with a lawyer regarding ADA accommodations when all this fun began. So, I sent him a very detailed timeline of everything that happened and I at least expect that he will give me a concrete answer as to whether or not I have any recourse since I had already met with him in person.

If I sound out of sorts today, I kind of am. I’m not exactly sure why, though. Well, anyways, happy Thursday, everyone!

Good morning!

It’s 43F and clear outside. They day will have a mixture of sun and clouds and our expected high temperature is 70F. The rain returns tomorrow, though.

Sticky, I’m sorry you are having difficulty finding representation. I hope you find some soon.

Schneikes FCM, what a morning you had yesterday! I hope today is much, much smoother.

The area I live in used to be all trees and fields when I was growing up. The block I live on now was two large plots of land with trees. All gone now. Development has been relentless. I wish I could live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by vast tracts of trees, but to live in the boonies means no broadband, and we need that. It’s a conundrum.

I thought about burning some leave or comp time today, but as it turns out, my boss is taking the afternoon off, and I have a quarterly meeting with the rest of the tenants in our office this morning. We were supposed to have the meeting last week, but it was pushed off to this week due to the illness of one of the required attendees. Plus, I have a meeting scheduled with the new MPA.

At yesterday’s executive leadership meeting, I mentioned that the state office is a complete mess, and I wasn’t happy about it. People have been using empty cubicles as storage for empty boxes, broken chairs, and other stuff, and they’ve been too lazy to take them to the warehouse or dumpster. I’m pissed about it because I spent two solid months cleaning out every cubicle and desk in that office on my own. After all, the SD wanted it done in a specific timeframe. I made it quite clear I wasn’t going to do that this time and expected EVERYONE, staff and leadership alike to participate. We’ve scheduled a clean-up day for 30 October, and we (leadership) will either provide pizza or have a potluck.

We discussed more critical matters, too, but every time I go down to the office, the mess stresses me out. I can’t deal with clutter in an office space. I have two MPAs now, so I’m going to call the original MPA “OMPA” and the new MPA will be called “NMPA”. Anyway, the OPMA has a cube that is a disaster. It’s been a disaster the whole almost 5.5 years I’ve worked here, even before she was the OPMA. I don’t know how she can stand it. However, it’s not my workspace; if she can function in that disorder, so be it. However, I will not let empty cubes become storage for junk or supplies, and she is as guilty as some of the staff members of doing that. I made her move boxes of computer monitors to a secured office last week because she had them and other stuff piled into an empty cube. Her cube was stacked with empty boxes and JUNK. I don’t get it.

Rocky, I’m sorry to read you have the plague. I hope it’s a mild version.

Nellie, I always wear bright orange and red when mushroom hunting, but I typically go to a spot where hunters are not allowed. Sometimes, though, I need to forage in a non-safe space, so I wear clothes that can be seen.

Well, it’s time for more coffee. It’s my Friday, at least, so hopefully I’ll have a smooth day.

When the in-laws bought their house in Ocala 20-some years ago, on the other side of their backyard fence was a field of cows. Then the cows went away and development started, then stopped after a few houses were build on the far, far side of the property. Then came the housing boom and the entire development filled, including a privacy fence along the chain link fence that marked the edge of the retirement community. So before they moved, they had a view of a fence. Progress, amiright?

How sad that you have to bribe adults to be responsible.

An example of MIL’s almost blindness - last night I was watching a documentary about the Romans in Britain in the first and second centuries. At one point, they were showing the remnants of a rather high wall. MIL asked - “what is that - a giraffe?” Too bizarre…

Also bizarre - she was dragging about 7 last night, and we suggested she go to bed. Oh no, it was too early!! Whereupon she lay down on the couch and fell asleep for an hour or so. Then she woke up, went back to get into her nightgown, came back out, insisted it was too early to go to bed, and fell asleep in her recliner. She finally decided it was bedtime around 9:15. Old habits die hard, I guess. Bedtime used to be after the 11 o’clock news way back when.

FCD has just left for his Dr appt. I’ll hit the shower shortly. After he gets back, I’ll go teach BIL how to pay his VISA on line. He’s all in a panic about it - despite it being due on Oct 22. So I need to help him now, lest he bother me daily for the next 2 anna half weeks.

After that, I think I’ll run to WalMart - I need new slippers and MIL wants another bag of incontinence pads. And I need ground beef since Daughter and her crew are coming for dinner on Moanday and I’m going to serve meatloaf - I’ll stop at Aldi on the way home. Not sure if I can incorporate any other errands, but I’ll try.

We’re all set up for the boat show tomorrow - FCD picked up our tickets and I’ve reserved parking. Daughter will be here around 7:30 so we can get breakfast before going to Annapolis. We need to leave there before 2:30 so she can pick up her kids at 4. I’m not too worried about having to leave by that time - I expect my poor sweetie will tire out after a couple of hours anyway. Walking is hard on him and he refuses to use a cane.

But that’s tomorrow. Still gotta get thru today. Happy Thursday!

Heh.

You’re sweet, and thank you, but I can’t take full credit. Hell, I can’t even take partial credit.
You know how group projects aren’t always “group” projects, and one person pretty much carried the whole load?

Not this time, not there.

'Murricans would riot.

In a few hours, I’ll be flying back to the gates of hell my parents Texas.

It’ll be fine. It’ll be fine.

I have a “trail mix” snack bag, with an unholy mix of pork rinds, rye chips, popcorn, watermelon Dots candy, and, uh, some other gummies … packed in my backpack with my makeup and socks and 4" white high heels.

If that gets through TSA, I’ll be fine.

I might teach my mid-80-year-old mom how to do the fluttery fake eyelashes! (Not the trashy “tarantula glued to your face” look. I can do better.)

That might be fun!

Monkey will get an extra-lg serving of kibble, and I’ll put down a coupla extra water bowls.

He’ll be fine.

Ratties will get a jumbo serving of birdseed mix, all their water bottles will be refilled, and since they have no concept of rationing, they’ll just hafta deal till I get back.

They’ll be fine.

Charm and Pretzel will … be fine.

S.M. got a sealed envelope with a copy of my house key, and my parents’ phone numbers & their address - just in case.

So things will be fine.

Obligatory Meme: https://miro.medium.com/v2/0*ZjYSm_q36J4KChdn

Seriously, hope the trip isn’t too bad, shoe. Are you flying from Muskegon or do you have to drive somewhere?

boo fae, some restrooms here still have hot/cold faucets/taps, but most homes are singles. Happy irk day, sounds like a busy one; hope the trains are on time.

swampy, happy mowage. Hope you’re wrong about the housing, it almost looks like a road rather than clear-cutting, but we’ll see. It’s only 100 or so feet from my house, so might work up the energy and walk over there to observe.

Sticky Buns, I don’t think I could handle an old house, mine was built in 1997 (moved in when it was brand new) and it is enough of a hassle as it is. Hope but work and legal stuff work out in your favor.

Taters, can never remember having a real messy area like that *to be honest, my desk would win no prizes). Hope at least some effort is made.

FCM, happy shopping trip.

Up early and may do some shopping myself. Have some soccer tonight and then the evening sloth. Soon as I send this pancakes and bacon will be prepared and assimilated. 59F heading to 85F later, so another nice day.

Now…breakfast!

My guess would be that volunteer mowers get a pass on personal appearance. But you are a proper bear, so freshen up!

Poor Spot! I hope you kissed up to him after so rudely bonking him in the head.

I really, really REALLY hope you are wrong. This whole thing just stinks, you deserve so much better.

If it’s not new housing, it is a Walmart. You can’t stop progress (hence me running away from it). You can probably figure it out by going to your county website and looking at the permits, that’s what I do when I want to know what’s being built.

How…interesting. Does that apply to shower heads as well?

I’m glad you have a proper 'merican tap now, much less risk of burning yourself doing the dishes.

Hub’s childhood home didn’t have indoor plumbing. It didn’t have a bathroom either. We went by it a month or so ago, I don’t think people live there anymore, its got a Historic house marker out front and it was well cared for, but just had the air of being empty.

Yours sounds much grander than his.

We seriously looked at homes like that but concluded that we were of the age that needed less than a half hour ambulance ride to the hospital. We were used to driving that far to get groceries and I am here to say that it is much nicer to only have to go 5 miles for them now.

It will be fine. It will make your mother happy and you will have an experience like nobody else you know.

Everything will be fine at home. Your flight will be smooth and TSA will be fast and careless. It will be fine.

Yum!

It’s, uh, the mid level model. The next door neighbors house is much larger than ours with all the fancy trimmings. We’ve just got the library (now my mom’s bedroom) and the beautiful front staircase. It’s going to need a lot of work to make it to 200. That is the downside to it, but it definitely did call me here to the area.

The best feature of all? Jesus’ tomb in the basement!

I actually had someone leave a message a few minutes ago from one of the law offices and I haven’t called them back yet.

And, damn it, I’m starting to have that same feeling about this job. I sent an email to my boss yesterday asking a very important question about my liability and responsibility in a particular kind of situation and I have not received an answer yet. I hope I’m wrong.

Ok, enough of my rambly break. Back to work with me!

Almost forgot to say, Shoe, I really do hope you have fun!
