(Old) April Showers bringing May Flowers in the MMP

Eh, I’m gettin’ there. No need to bother a very busy man. The problem is definitely my Google Home having the old password. I looked up some troubleshooting steps, and they halfway worked, so … progress?

I also, somehow, managed to successfully link my beloved zombie game - it was trying to make me start over from scratch, which would lose YEARS of accumulated nifty plants - and I have absolutely no idea why it let me port over my account today but not yesterday, but hey, all my favorite plants are there now.
Anyway, I’m calling that a win for the time being.

Michelle is a person, and she is fine. Bruises came out overnight and they are EPIC. Wish I could post pictures but some are in places you don’t wanna see.

Yes, indeed! Go you! That kind of stuff is hard to reverse (don’t ask me how I know). And I’m going to try that vitamin E and biotin thing-my aged hair could use some special attention.

I have been using Biotin 1,000 and already feel a difference. B12 is good also.

Last night Spot’s Mentos were non compos. I had pulled out an old Wally World lamp to replace the old one, and he was playing with the cord. Till he got a claw stuck in the little hole at the end of the plug, and was trying to get the “volt snake” to stop attacking him. Then he was on the couch near the door, when I started walking towards him, he charged, and took a right turn at Albuquerque the cat tree, trying to jump to it, but misjudged, bounced off my stomach, and went spinning around the apartment, with full dilated pupils. So I get to work, and Midnight is still loading all their trucks, and still had stuff on the belts. They were still doing clean up at 0330, when we started. And our shift was FUBAR too. They took the reasonably competent SSLAW feeder, and sent her to The Cornfield Surepost(?), and replaced her with the last newbie, so this was his 2nd time doing this and first time solo. Yellow was still full the entire length at 0730, when we would normally go down. And there was a late Air, so we had to unload that and sort out the meds and frozen lobster, so I got out at quarter to 11. I’ve hosed off all the filth, so now it’s naptime.

I’m sure there’s a trashy Rule 34 version, too.

that’s what I have Spot for.

RTFM is a rule I live by.

Your left nostril?
But hope you continue to mend.

Killed some zombies to soothe my soul, then went the hell back to bed to sleep off being awoken at such an ungodly hour. (9:30 am! The absolute horror!)

But I didn’t have much to eat before doing so, plus I’m down to my last lighter, and there’s probably other stuff on my list - including items with (!!) behind them, which means, “Shoe you lazy bitch, you ferrealz need to buy this!” - so I suppose my hungry ass shall hafta don some sort of clothing and venture forth for procurement.

Maybe some sushi? I haven’t treated myself in a while (it’s an inexpensive little tray, not some all-you-can-eat blowout) and since it’s warming up, something a bit lighter sounds like a nice change.

Where is that rule writte- … oh. In the manual.

Wow, could that be misconstrued.

Exercised both mentally and physically this morning. The latter about wore me out, which is why I hate missing a day (Monday). Came back to the apartment and almost immediately dozed off for a bit.

Breakfast was half a bagel with salmon cream cheese, bacon and tomato, and a bowl of fruit on the side. I’m trying out lactose-free half & half in my coffee, and don’t really see a difference between it and the regular stuff, other than one has to shake the carton before pouring.

back to the office, my desk wasn’t as piled up as i expected. yay! i’ve caught up on everything.

i now have all 3 pairs of glasses, the new sunglasses were just perfect, no adjustments needed.

whee!

Technically, that counts as exercise.

Nice! I’ve looked before to find train routes to Buffalo, but without much success. That map lays it out.

Again? There is something deeply wrong with either that meter or the plumbing in your house or both.

As for the feline update, Buddy’s down from the top of the fridge, and he and Allie are now squabbling over windowsill space. In a room with two windows.

I’ve read all the posts, but replying to all would mean I’d never get this posted. I actually was most of the way through a post on Monday when something intervened, and by Tuesday it was outdated.

Big hugs to all, and gentle hugs to the injured. I hope to do a longer post tomorrow.

Howdy. Almost nap time here. Catch y’all later.

I’m going to be lazy and repeat Nellie’s words:

Big hugs to all, and gentle hugs to the injured.

And say that I’m looking forward to a longer post from Nellie.

Floors are curing, so we had the doors to the rooms open during the day, to help dissipate the smell.

Now we have the room doors closed, and the rest of place is airing out before we put ourselves to bed.

There’s some Bird’s Custard calling my name, and it’s really fast to cook, so I’m gonna do that.

Sticky Buns, I hope the zapping is fading. And that you get a good nap.

Potentially positive news on Daughter’s job search. She’d applied for an admin position at BAE and their HR contacted her and suggested she apply for Project Analyst position. The location is not ideal - about 19 miles away - but it’s a big company and if hired, she might be able to transfer to the office that’s next to her neighborhood. Here’s hoping… :crossed_fingers:

It’s about 85°. MIL is in a sweatshirt, jeans, knee high socks, with an afghan pulled up to her neck. I assume her failing heart is the reason. A nurse came today and we talked to her about MIL’s sleep problems. She also cut her BP meds in half in the hopes that it will help her dizziness.

Supper was leftover ribs and a bunch of veggies. Chillage time.

Hi, everyone! The past couple of weeks have been intense, and I didn’t even lurk in/skim the last two threads. I’ve done some scrollin’ through this one, though. I actually missed y’all!

On 04/22, I fired my problem employee after an unsuccessful performance improvement plan (PIP). I’ve had to lay people off before, but this was my first termination. The notification conversation was not fun, but my primary emotion the rest of that day – and week – was relief. Things got real busy real fast, though, as I had to figure out how to do all of the things she did and pick up where she left off (one of the downsides to a firing is that there’s no handoff/transition). And at the same time, I was involved with two contract-related things happening on the program; I’m still working some tasks related to one of them. All while doing my regular job. So although I wasn’t working particularly long hours, every day was literally nonstop…my multitasking skills were definitely put to the test…which meant total exhaustion by the time I logged off. I’m finally starting to get some breathing room.

A week ago, I opened the requisition to backfill my former employee: there have been lots of promising applicants, and I held the first three interviews today. I have two more tomorrow, then another three on Friday. Hopefully that will be it. :crossed_fingers:

A bunch of old-dog-related changes are coming to my house this weekend. It has become official that no steps/ramp will work to help Bailey get on the couch: I got the most promising ramp ever, and started training her to use it (string cheese FTW), but it turns out that her back legs aren’t strong enough to support her walking up the mild incline – and she’s also not mobile enough to take it at a run, which would work. So, I’ve given up. It’s supposed to rain for pretty much the rest of May, but the next time there’s a dry Saturday I’ll put my collection of ramps and steps out on the curb. I ordered a big dog bed to put in the living room, so at least we can hang out in the same room again in the evenings (she never even tries to get on the couch anymore; it’s weird to know there’s a dog in the house but not be able to see her). It’s on backorder, but Saturday afternoon College Hunks Hauling Junk is coming out and will take away the loveseat that I never use that takes up too much space and is where I want the new dog bed to go. They will also take away my box spring and bed frame: a lower, platform-style frame is being delivered tomorrow. It’s a change I’ve been thinking about making for a long time, to help Bailey be able to get up on the bed more reliably, and I finally pulled the trigger.

In other news, I’ve decided to quit my volunteer gig in July instead of waiting until the end of the year. There are a couple of big events in June, so I’ll see them through, but then I’m out. I’m just done with so much of my spare time/energy being taken up by that stuff. There have been a lot of leadership changes in the past few months – just this morning a fellow committee chair resigned – and I hate the idea of piling on, but I gots ta go. These days I actually dread dealing with all of it, and I’m not getting paid enough to be stressed.

Happily, though, in addition to volunteer events June will also bring a mini-vacation: I’m taking my favorite cousin to a Michael Jackson tribute show (she’s a huge MJ fan), and from the show we’re going straight to the Jersey shore for two nights. I booked a beach-adjacent 2BR on Airbnb. I’ll be driving up on a Thursday and coming home on Sunday but also taking the next day off work, so it should be a nice little break.

Time for dinner. I’m hoping to be more interactive again later this week.

I’m the same with Orange Cappuccino, well now Orange Cafe since Maxwell House bought the International Coffees line from General Foods. It can be bought on-line for double what I used to pay in Meijer who no longer carries it. Drat.

Have read most, not all the way caught up yet, but retained little so
Yays, Boos, Hugs, Noogies to all as appropriate.
Sending healing energy and prayers for all dealing with physical issues including but not limited to Cupcake, hippie, Coppertone, WetOne, FCM and anyone else that has slipped my mind.

Been very busy, particularly yesterday but some good news. Work is ramping up so have had to go into the office each day this week, today was the longest at 5 hrs. Have tomorrow off but back in on Friday.

After I ran out of office at 10:30 yesterday to get home to quickly inhale a small bowl of cereal, Hubs & I were off to the Stem Cell Transplant clinic to first have his blood drawn then we walked over the above ground walkway over the 8 lane with boulevard surface street over to the hospital to go to Interventional Radiology to have Hubs tri-fusion catheter removed because he’s done with infusions or transfusions of any sort for now and hopefully forever. The receptionist in the Interventional Radiology department is the very best person of all the non-medical personnel that we have dealt with during this whole past 2+ years since the saga began when Hubs got his diagnosis on 2/11/22 and I told her so. She is so nice, professional and wonderful.

I didn’t even wait for the nurse to come get Hubs to go into the room where the removal would be done. I hightailed it about 2/3 mile up to Joe Louis’ Southern Kitchen for lunch. I had hoped to get a pulled pork sandwich (it’s a southern kitchen for crying out loud, certainly they would serve a pulled pork sandwich but NO). So I had a breaded chicken breast sandwich on a bun with red cabbage slaw, pickles and kind of a tartar sauce on it with a basket of fries. I ate the whole sandwich and about 2/3 of the fries. This was a mistake as I ended up with somewhat bad acid reflux after I made it back to the hospital. I only should have eaten half of the sandwich. I sat at the counter right next to the window singing along with all the Motown tunes that I had grown up with; this was the best part of lunch. Luckily no one else chose to sit at the counter, rather sat at tables in the main part of the dining room.

Nurse called about 10 minutes after I finished eating so once again used track shoes to skeddadle back to hospital. Hubs was a bit jittery so the nurse had gotten a wheelchair for him. Since his appointment with the Stem Cell Transplant Dr wasn’t for another 75 minutes, I wheeled him down to Papa Joe’s Cafe in the hospital and he chose some chicken chili for lunch. Then wheeled him across the skyway and back to Stem Cell Transplant clinic. The Dr was very happy with how Hubs is doing and his lab results and said now he’s graduated from weekly morning appointments to afternoon bi-weekly or even tri-weekly appointments. She also said he can now take bactrim instead of having to go for Inhalation Therapy so yay, I had him cancel tomorrow’s inhalation appt. She also said that the next appt can be a video appt so we don’t have to go all the way down there.

Hubs just left to go pick up a pizza so I need to get busy sauteeing some red & green bell peppers and onions then make a salad for self (Hubs can’t have lettuce or unvinegered veggies yet and he doesn’t like cucumbers.

You may be able to replace the switch if you are attached to the lamp. I’ve done that with vintage lamps.

Ouch wet one! I’m glad that your fall was blocked.

I will, the next time that I talk to him.

Irked and at 1345, a late start for tomorrow was announced. I already had a half day scheduled for PTO, so that means that I’ll be going in for 2.5 hours. I would have put in for the rest of the day had I known earlier and gotten the must do first thing Thursday shipment ready. I’ll talk to Sis this evening and maybe she can begin her trip a day earlier.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Aack! I just found a tick on my back! I felt a mild itch and went to scratch, and there was this little bastard. The only outside I’ve done today is from house to truck in garage to work and back. Now I get to be paranoid about Lyme disease.

Oh, no. They’re temporarily closed - kitchen fire.

My first thought was, “You serve raw fish. What fire?” but then I remembered they have … had, snifff … hot soup and cooked things like Pad Thai.

Plus I guess for sushi, ya do hafta cook the rice.

Gawdz, I will be so sad if they don’t re-open.

… meanwhile, now I hafta completely re-decide on what I want to eat, from the available local choices.
