(Old) April Showers bringing May Flowers in the MMP

what hasn’t gone hill these days… they come up with something good and by 3-5 years later its become cheaped out garbage by its 3rd owner …

Howdy. Poodle in place to impede typing. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 90 with off and on rain. We shall see. Sloth shall rule the day as I took care of candle and other duties whilst over to the church house yestiddy. Nappage and day drinkin’ are the big agenda items. OK, we will go to the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet place for N.O.L. That will require us to don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed, but it’s warm out, so shorts, tshirts, and sandals will do considerin’ where we are goin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

I’ve already decided when I can swing it, I’ll be getting a Samsung phone. That’s what FCD has, and both of our tablets are Samsung. I figure that should really flatten the learning curve. I got my current phone because it’s a cheapie - false economy there, for sure.

VanGo - ick ick ick ick ick Considering how mild our winter was, I expect a bumper crop of ticks. ick ick ick ick ick

This threw me for a second. My youngest sister likes to give nicknames to people, and she calls one of her friends Poodle… Cut me some slack - it’s early!

Someone didn’t close the freezer all the way last night, and I got up to an ice bin with water in the bottom as well as softening foodstuffs. Dammit. Luckily, the condenser was still working and didn’t crash like the last time.

On the plus side, I checked my progress in my food/weight diary - I’ve shed 10# of the regained poundage - Huzzah! I’m not sure why it is that writing everything down makes such a difference, but it does. Nobody else sees the diary - I guess it’s an extension of my conscience? Whatever - it obviously helps. So, again, huzzah!

Chance of rain and t-boomers today, rain overnight, likely more rain tomorrow. So glad we mowed yesterday - the grass was getting out of control. I’m hoping for a weather respite on Sat so I can transplant my seedlings - I’ll do it right this time. And I will probably go pick up my glasses today - FINALLY!! It’s only been 10 anna half weeks since my initial eye exam!!! Maybe I’ll run into the thrift store, too, just because.

Happy Thursday!!

Good morning!

It’s 46 degrees Fahrenheit outside, and it’s dark and clear. Today, we’ll have abundant sunshine and an expected high temperature of around 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Tomorrow and Saturday, we’ll creep up into the 80s.

I took three hours off today because I have an appointment at the salon. I thought about returning to work, but I won’t. After my appointment, depending upon traffic, I may take a drive down to my favorite nursery.

I have too much on my plate at work, and I can’t really afford to take this time off, but, on the other hand, this is the only time I could get in to get my hair cut, and I need a break, no matter how tiny.

oopsie, I’m glad the problem employee is no more, and that you have a new path with Bailey. When Polar was no longer able to jump upon the bed, I was really very sad. I missed having him up there. He was a big enough boy that having the big dog bed next to the couch made it easier for him to crawl onto the couch. And, on the days that even that was too much effort for him, he could still lie right next to the couch and me, and I could lie down on the couch to give him pats or rest my hand on his back or head.

metal mouse, how frustrating this water leak must be for you!

kitten mitten, yay for good medical news!

nellie, that is quite a walk! I’ve never been over to that park. I might have to check it out sometime if I can ever force myself to take a long enough break from work. I work right through lunch, often I don’t even take a bio break, and before I know it, it’s time to head back north.

van go, ick on the tick! I hope you got all of it!

Work is crazy and frustrating, but, I keep on keepin’ on.

My son’s wisdom teeth removal (all of them) went as well as could be expected. One had drilled into the adjacent tooth and created a cavity, so they worked on that, too. Anyway, my husband drove down there to help out. He drove down on Tuesday and stayed the night; yesterday was the surgery. My poor son looked to be a real mess, but hopefully, he was able to manage the pain. My husband stayed with him long enough yesterday to ensure he was doing okay and home by late afternoon.

I enjoyed the peace and having the house to myself—well, except for the pups, who were here with me. At any rate, the pups and I hung out, and I had a more restful night of sleep. I forget how quiet the house can be when it’s just one human around here, and I love it.

Buster has managed to do something to one of his paws. He was favoring it last night and trembling, so I will keep an eye on it today, and if there are still issues, I’ll need to take him to the vet. He was fine one minute, and the next, he wasn’t. I don’t see anything in the paw, but one of his nails looks a little weird, so I wonder if it got caught on something.

Okily-dokily, I need to finish my coffee and start my work day. I’ll work, feed the pups, and then work until noonish.

Take care everyone.

Morning all. Still here, the storms continued off and on all night and there was some damage in the area, but my house is standing and my electric is on, so not too bad. red may have caught it worse than me, will wait for her to post. Rain is due to continue until about 10:30am this morning, so I’m betting soccer will be called off this afternoon. Going to get warm (85F) outside so maybe things will dry out quickly.

Pilot, glad the move is coming along well.

nellie, does google maps work on places around you? Besides the routes they also give distance and estimated time. But sounds like it was a lovely day anyway. Happy packing.

boo fae, good music and cheese…great way to end a day. Hope this one works as well.

FCM, good news on the poundage shedding, hope the new glasses were worth the wait.

Taters, good idea to take a little time off; the work will get done, but not if you drive yourself too hard and don’t take care of the little things. And that sounds like son had a real mess to clean up in his mouth (wait, that didn’t come out right), glad the dental work went well. Best wishes to Buster.

OK, have broken fast and need to do a few house things. Thunder is still rumbling around the area and schools are starting 2 hours late, but otherwise it’s all good. Have a good Thorsday all.

… When will the Lyme vaccine be ready?

But times change—at least, that’s what Pfizer Inc., in partnership with French drugmaker Valneva SE, is betting. Phase III trials are underway for their Lyme vaccine (dubbed VLA15 for now), which is expected to be available in 2026…. [from Bloomberg]

Til then, prevention and vigilance.

Same here, except it’s a Siamese.

Midnight was still loading on the front wall when I came in, but it was less chaotic than yesterday. Of course, after the last couple of days a flaming box of Murder Hornets would seem tame. But I did my Teeter run, then stopped at the mail box. A flyer for Elder care and a reminder about colonoscopies. All that was missing was a coupon for the Matlock VCR tape box set.

But do you have Powdered Toast?

Most Catholic Archdioceses move to to Sunday, Except for Hartford, Philly, Newark, and Boston. Dunno if that means those folks are such sinners that they need an extra Mass, or the rest of us are lazy slackers who can’t be bothered to go more than once a week.

Spot is either hunting a bug by the front door or had chugged a Four Loko.

Imagining MetalMouse in the ruby slippers makes me giggle.

I find it soothing and restful to be among the ancient trees and giant ferns. And I love saying the new name, too! I’m glad they changed it from Priest Point.

FCM, congrats on the weight loss!

You are definitely working way too hard. (I know it’s part of the job, though.) Have you ever gone to the Garfield Nature Trail? It’s only about a mile from the Oyster House. It’s such an amazing little oasis.

That sounds brutal. I hope your son recovers quickly.

Oh, sure, but since I’d been there so many times, I was sure I remembered the mileage. That’ll teach me to be so arrogant! In all honesty, knowing it was farther wouldn’t have deterred me.

Flaming Murder Hornets! I think their Best Of album is due to drop soon. It includes their hits, “I’m a Left-Winger with a Flaming Stinger,” “Ain’t No Chillin’ When People Need Killin’,” and their hit, “Bees for Breakfast.”

Not to forget Beat On the Bat.

Made me do a Spock-like eyebrow lift…

Have managed to get the garbage can in and start the dishwasher (water is turned on, of course). And have finished the Sunday NY Times crossword (whether or not I finished it successfully will have to wait until Sunday…) so my mentis seems to still be corpus…

And as usual around here, it is now all blue skies and bright outside; still think soccer will get cancelled, but hope springs eternal…

Need to get over to the gym to knock off some of the calories I have been snacking. Catch y’all later.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an episode of that show. I guess I have homework.

But then, Does Anyone Want Some Toast?

Glad you’re save - hope red is as well. I have the feeling that the 2024 tornado season is off to a strong start, which isn’t good for houses, people, etc.

Did manage to go for a walk. I’m a bit sore after yesterday’s gym visit. And tomorrow I’m going back to the gym. The excitement abounds.

Speaking of excitement, need to figure out what we’re going to watch on tv. Should be able to find something, right?

Picked up my glasses. I don’t think they’re right, but I’ll wait till the morning when my eyes are fresh. Progressives can be weird. I fired of a long complaint to MyEyeDr - I like the doctor I see, but his office sucks. I’ll probably find a different office next year.

Other than that, the only thing I’ve done today is empty the dishwasher. Not sure what I’ll make for supper, but I need to get something out of the freezer. Maybe a Polish sausage?

Its kindof rainy today, theres nowhere to go and I do have 4 books to read.
Waiting to hear from gyno to discuss whether I should be out or just numbed for my leep. She did say my cells look better than they did last year.

Nellie I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. You are a treasure, and a fountain of wit.

Daughter has an interview on Weds! :confetti_ball:

< deep cleansing breath >

I am a heartbeat away from telling MIL to STFU about Costco. I swear, she brings it up at least every other day. There’s no way I could care less about that stupid store. Or their hot dogs. Or how cheap their clothes are. Just stop!

Ok, that’s out of my system. Till next time.

I hadn’t thought about those, but you are right that they are very pretty trees. I’ll have to look into them, thanks for the suggestion.

That’s always kinda heart breaking, I’m glad the condenser didn’t freeze up. Congrats on the weight loss.

Poor lil guy, can you maybe soak his foot for a while and see if the nail is bleeding? Or would that cause more stress than it would be worth?

I hope it’s nothing.

I’m glad your home is still intact and hope it stays that way, the news has been showing some pretty scary vids.

Our move goes apace, today GG got his trial dose of Gabapentin. It seems to be doing what we want, he’s pretty relaxed but still responsive and able to get to the fud bowl and litter box. Currently he’s snoozing in the laundry basket which is next to the running dryer.

I’m assuming that the chairs don’t match? :stuck_out_tongue:

We got some of it, but the worst went up towards the KY / TN state line. The storm did wake me up ~0100 though.

I hope that it’s a temporary owie. :skritches:

What does Spot think of the cicadas?

That’s why I gave up on progressives years ago. I had been in bifocals prior to that and had no issues, but the folks at the optical shop convinced me to give them a whirl. I went back to bifocals (later trifocals) shortly after that.

Yay!

Irked all of 2.5 hours this morning. Had I known that the one person in the department that gets my Thursday shipment next who knows how to prep them was coming in early and took them, I would have taken the whole day off. On the way home, I swung through Goodwill and got a pair of capris, a summer blouse, a big teeshirt to sleep in and a pair of soup mugs for less than $15 (and the win!).

Once home, I stripped the bed and did a load of towels / sheets, napped and binged Finding Your Roots.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
