(Old) Find the Good in the MMP!

Well, they’ve sure come a long way!!! If I have to wear one, I’d order the multi-colored one. Or get my hair cut boy short. That’s what I did last time I had to wear one, I hated them so much and boys didn’t have to wear them even though most of them did.

After that nice young person sprang into action to save us from dying in a fire, Hubs moved the smoker/grill to the carport where folks could see what was going on. Hubs just told me that while he was grilling burgers for dinner tonight (they put off a whole lot of smoke), two people driving by slowed down and looked to be sure our home wasn’t on fire.

I like it here so much better, nobody ever bothered back when we lived in fire country.

Glad everyone is OK and the only damage is relatively minor.

I’m sorry for your loss, doggio. Hugs.

Back when I did a lot of aqua aerobics, I went up north to visit with the folks and dropped in to the local Parks & Rec pool for a class. I was the only person under 40 and one of only two women. It was mostly a bunch of retired guys, including the instructor. They didn’t use made for the exercise equipment either. they had gallon milk jugs with caps to use for resistance and filled them to a certain level to adjust. Totally a dude solution. :stuck_out_tongue:

So maybe we should set up an ice cube hockey match with Nelson?

Competitive swimmers tend to wear them to reduce drag.

I’ve lived at my current address for 8 years and still get some mail for the previous occupant. I was at my last place for 12 years and still got someone else’s mail.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! :musical_note: :notes: :musical_note: It’s a rainy night in Jawja! :musical_note: :notes: :musical_note: I’m talkin’ more rain today than we’ve had in a month or so. Makes for good sleep weather, however.

JtC I did indeed have popcorn. I decided that I could not go without my RDA of microwave popcorn. Also, that swimmin’ cap looks like it could double for a church house what with all the flowers.

To quote Dana Carvey as George W. Bush, ‘Not gonna do it.’

In any case, the RTS letter didn’t come back today. I’m guessing it was scanned when it got to Seattle, and subsequently removed from re-delivery to me.

Happy Hump Day!

No park today. I overslept.
It was another cool morning and a pretty day.

I’m sorry about your friend {{{Doggio}}}

Sick days are meant to be taken, Boo Fae

I’ve been pretty lucky with the mail here. At my old house I was constantly getting mail for previous residents. Here, not so much.

Once I accidentally opened a letter to a previous resident. It seems her husband just died and the letter was about his life insurance. I called the life insurance company to let them know they had the wrong address.

I am getting a ton of emails for my mother again. Wanting her to switch auto insurance, open new credit cards, join aarp - which she hated almost as much as I do. I don’t remember what they did to piss her off.

I think my son is finally getting it. He told me today that he realized if something happens to me, he doesn’t know what to do. I told him he can survive; he does know how to take care of himself, the house, and the yard. But… He needs to get his license and he needs to learn how to pay bills. Well, I just have to show him where everything is since we don’t get paper bills. Most everything is set to be paid automatically.

I went back to irk today, and it was irksome.

Then he said, that’s not what he meant, he meant he doesn’t know what to do legally if something happens to me.
I’ve been thinking about buying Holy Fuck, I’m Dead
I have all the paperirk together already. I don’t want to leave him a mess like my mother left. Although, what she left is nowhere near as bad as what a friend’s mother left for him. His mother had dementia, but hid it well, and left a horrible mess.

I’ve only been to Hawaii once (Oct/Nov 2000). The snorkeling was so outstanding, particularly in Hanama Bay.

doggio sincere condolences

when I dropped Hubs off at the hospital for his blood draw last week, I went to the post office to drop some mail in the mailbox. On the way I went past A&W and the outside billboard was advertising coney dogs and I began to have a strong gnawin’ and cravin’ for one. I waited until I picked Hubs up to see if he wanted one, he did not, so then I got one for 'self along with a cold frosty A&W rootbeer! I loved A&W growing up but Dad generally would only stop once a year as a treat to get a quart of A&W that was parcelled out among us.

I felt like warmed-over crap this morning as well since I watched the entire debate, then an hour and a half of analysis then Stephen Colbert’s monologue so only got 4 hrs of sleep. So, drove the 6 blocks to work instead of walking because I might have keeled over on the way.

I hate when that happens. Hope you didn’t end up drenched.

Having hard time keeping eyes open so will hope to catch up on the remaining 30 posts tomorrow. 'Night all.

Spot and I napped. I dreamed I was helping a bunch of people push a broke down pickup down I-40 for…reasons. I’m having my Wednesday martini with teriyaki stir fry chicken.

I would laugh at you, except one time I tried to open the (mechanical)roll up door at work with my key fob.

“You don’t have to be crazy to work here, we’ll train you.”

the only reason I’d ever go to Buffalo, NY(Visit Buffalo! see the ruins!), is to see the CLLG-4 USS Little Rock. And The Sullivans.

Good ship

I’ve been getting mail for a woman with an unusual name for the last 14 years. 2 years ago I picked up a fallen envelope at work, it it was her name. (she apparently lives in Wendell).

I’ve tried that with both my front door and my mailbox.

Split pea soup (with bonus kelbasa slices!) is assimilating, along with a multivitamin. How healthy am I!

In a month, I’ll be flying to Dallas to attend a formal outdoor gala thing, to accompany my mother at her rather sweetly phrased request. She absolutely hates doing anything alone; must have someone on her arm for any public event, especially the fancy stuff, which she luuuurves.

We are in the “formal dress finding” phase.

I suspect my idea of formal may be different from hers.

Also (reminder: I run HOT) she cautioned me away from anything sleeveless, and said she had a jacket for me to wear.
IN TEXAS. OUTSIDE.

Woman, imma be slipping ice cubes down my cleavage, get your damn jacket the hell away from me!!

Tomorrow morning, the management co. friggin’ BETTER send that damn inspector around. I don’t need my beauty sleep interrupted this much.

This is the fancy shindig:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out with light rain with a predicted high of 78 and heavy rain for the day. We are also under a flood watch. Joy. I shall betake myself over to the church house to take care of candle and other duties this mornin’ and then back to da cave to stay inside and dry the rest of the day. I predict high RDOS inactivity. Sup shall be the dawgs and fries we didn’t do yestiddy.

shoe ummm… you wear all white and then have to schlep a table, chairs, and a picnic basket to an unknown location? Did I read that right? I have only just begun to caffeinate, so maybe I didn’t?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

I got a new phone and number when I retired. The number formerly belonged to an elderly black lady named LaVerne. She was/is a UHC customer. It took me a couple of years to get United Health Care to quit calling me and to get me off of their Robo Call List.

JFTR: I am Milwaukee guy…

Could you just drill a hole or two in the bottom so water would drain out? Since it’s just for yard waste, it isn’t for any liquid waste, right?

OMG - I would sooooooo, um, dislike such an event. Then again, I’m not a dress-up sorta person. Regarding sleeves - I did notice in the pics some of the dresses had lace sleeves - might that be an option?

Weird MIL night - she woke around 3 and called her sister in Indy because she had a dream that her sister fell and broke her hip. Needless to say, Sis wasn’t happy with a middle-of-the-night phone call. We need to remember to “hide” her phone at night.

Then when I woke around 6:30-ish, I saw MIL going back into her room, but I hadn’t heard the walker - is she rambling without it? Not good. Then I went to the kitchen to feed Higgs and found a steak knife, still clean, sitting on the counter near the cake I’d bought for last night’s dessert, as well as a dirty spoon on the other counter near my cookbooks. I’m not sure what any of that was about. Maybe it was FCD and not her, but I need to ask.

HVAC guys are supposed to come today - hope it’s early. I can deal with them doing the house, but this will be the first service for the shop and I don’t know much about those units, so I want FCD here for that. And he needs to get to the boatyard - they’re finally supposed to finish the inspection today. I dunno.

I’m also expecting a call from BIL today. Without going into the gory details, many years ago, he got into deep debt and ended up declaring bankruptcy. Since then, he’s been paranoid about owing anything to anyone, as well as fearing the idea of having to pay any interest to credit card companies (that little quirk is courtesy of his mother. He was afraid if the under-$2k on his current statement was late, he’d get hit with $200-$300 in interest.)

Anyway, I’m going to help him set up an on-line account with his credit card company and try to show him how to pay it on line so this interminable wait for a check to clear won’t panic him in the future. Then I’ll take him to Food Lion because he can’t walk the mile or so carrying a big load of groceries and MIL is panicked that he doesn’t have any food. So all that’s on the agenda after FCD gets back.

I do feel sorry for BIL. He’s got his problems, and unfortunately, MIL has made some of them worse by treating him like a child. For example, he needs a haircut. There’s a woman with a little shop by the apartment complex, but MIL didn’t like her so she doesn’t think BIL should get his hair cut there. Yet she harps on him about a haircut. Poor guy doesn’t stand a chance. So I have that to look forward to later today.

For now, tho, I’m waiting for the call from the HVAC tech. I’m supposed to be the first call of the day. We shall see…

Happy Thursday!

Off to the dentist for another casting. 6 more weeks til new teeth!
Later farmers market.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/51f with a predicted high of 12c/53f, and rain showers. Weather app has had enough and declares “Fucking rain. Again.”

I’d be wearing a mask anyway, I just don’t need the commuting hassle and the overheated trains that start me off coughing again.

Those would be the grandmothers who’d just spent a couple of hours getting frou-frou’d at the salon and were tremendously precious about getting their hair wet? I haven’t seen anyone wear one outside of competitive swimming in recent years.

That looks very fancy! Some of the outfits in those photos are “interesting” to say the least…

You’ll all be pleased to hear that I did indeed have a sick day today. I got up at 7.30am, messaged the ADHD squirrel to tell her I wasn’t coming in, fed the cats, then went back to bed. I got up four hours later, and have finally had a cup of tea.

We don’t get a set amount of sick days, we take them when we need to but they are monitored. I can’t remember the exact wording of the absence policy but I know it’s something like taking more than a certain number of days in a specific period of time before you get to the start of the attendance management process. I’m a long way off that, I just needed to not get up early and trek to campus, nor did I really need to sit through a day of talks while I’m doing my best not to cough. I plan to spend the majority of my day in sloth mode on the sofa, and I’ll see how I feel in the morning.

I’m showered and dressed. HVAC guy is in FCD’s shop. And FCD decided not to go to the boat - he really overdid it yesterday and his back is giving him fits. Scary fits. I’m hoping he’ll go back to an orthopedist.

MIL got up, got dressed, and went back to bed, all before 7. FCD brought her phone out to the living room, so no more dream-induced phone calls. It’s been a weird morning so far…

Morning all. Up bright (well, not so bright, it’s raining and due to continue all morning) and early and got the first of many loads of laundry started, so that will be my major activity for the day. Soccer will probably get cancelled as the fields will be soaked, so except for some gym time nothing much else on the agenda. Will break my fast shortly with pancakes and bacon (the store-bought frozen pancakes aren’t too bad and with warm syrup are a nice treat).

Oh, and managed to order the wrong water filter for my refrigerator, so if anyone needs some genuine GE refrigerator water filters, type XWFE, just let me know, such a deal I have for you…

FCM, hope the GEICO SNAFU got sorted out, I have GEICO for my car insurance and so far, no problems… Hope the HVAC work goes well and FCD isn’t so stubborn that he ends up back in surgery…

shoe, good grief, Mom-unit wants you to spend a nice chunk of YOUR change on a fancy dress an then wants to dictate how it looks? Bah, get what you’re most comfortable in.

Sari, good signs from Sah-son,let’s hope it takes hold and he does something constructive with it.

Cat Glove, the nearest A&W is hours away from me, but I do miss their root beer…

Didn’t know about them, need to add those sometime to my fleet collection (I’mup to 4 battleships, 3 carriers, and various other smaller ships).

Coppertone, happy casting and shopping.

boo fae, enjoy the day getting better.

And time to start the second load of laundry and get me some breakfast. Have a good Thorsday all.

Me too. It’s weird - my login worked fine when I replaced the totaled car with the new one, then I couldn’t log on again when I went to check the account. I’m wondering now if I changed the credit card number for our payments - I think I did, but I can’t verify, yet.

They kept asking if I had the app, so I put it on my phone and still couldn’t log in. Hope they get back to me in the next couple of days. I don’t want to have to fight their phone tree again, and their chat app is a bot - ick.

Yeah, another day in paradise.

Yeah. They put molds in, the top one pinched, but they can correct that.
Now in 1 month they put the wax ones in, I’ve picked the shade of white. After that, I actually get them.
It takes so long.
Gonna buy tomatos, cukes, peppers, etc.
Later a womens meeting at church, with food.

Mystery of the spoon is solved - MIL decided to have some tapioca at 3AM.

HVAC guys have finished in the shop and they’re in the basement now. Awful lot of excitement here…
