(Old) For Whom The Bin Tolls- A Trashy Vacation MMP

It has anger management issues?

:+1: < continues crossing fingers >

I dusted the ceiling fan today, and nobody brought me ice cream.

That sure does make a whole lot of sense. As a matter of fact, all of your post was very helpful. It’s been a few minutes since I last worked at the surgery center, I know that there is a lot that I’ve forgotten. I plan to take notes, but will appreciate all of the helpful advice you have for me.

Swimming won’t be that much of an issue because I’ll be able to see to stitch again. I’ll have to find my hourglass again, I try to use it to remind me to give my hands a break on a regular basis. Now I spend so much time double checking my colors that my hands get lots of breaks.

This is very valuable advice, thank you. I would try to gut it out because I’m kinda stoopid like that.

Zombie Horde. There’s a river, if it was Godzilla, I’d just roll, slide down the bank and try to hide in the water. You can’t do that with zombies, they don’t swim but they don’t drown either. They just bob around and bite anything that gets close. No swimming during the zombie apocalypse!

And as long as we are talking bridges, there is the world’s fifth largest arch bridge in WV that they close once a year and allow people to jump off it.

Hubs wants to go. I will not walk across the bridge and I certainly will not watch people jump off it. I know that there will be vendors for me to visit and there will probably be fried food onna stick so I won’t be stuck sitting in the car playing on my tablet.

I hope you got some garden time in, digging in the garden with Grandma V was one of my favorite things to do when I was Harriet’s age.

And very exciting about the bird nest. I hope they aren’t doves, it would be sad for the kids to see the fail.

Geese are wonderful watch critters and they are very affectionate with their human. Our big brick shed has two rooms, power and water. (we think it was planned to be a MIL house, the walls are finished and there are nice windows.)

We can hang a door between the rooms so we can put a goose door in the wall and make them a nice house.

That way I can have guards when I have to start selling his guns. Geese don’t bond and grow up to be good guards overnight, I need to start now.

It has been very cold here as well. Normally when I plan tomatoes, the next thing I do is rearrange my summer and winter clothes. I haven’t done that yet and was very happy about it this morning.

I love jazz. It’s a shame about the drumming, though. I agree that drums should be background noise unless they are the featured part of the show.

Yeah, that wouldn’t have ever happened. I wouldn’t have gotten through the consult part.

:joy:

You did a great clean up, I’ll bet you feel better now that it is done. Be proud!

I never really knew what snakes were living in my yard back in AZ (except the rattlers, they were pretty obvious), but I sure did like seeing them around. The only reason I had the vipers relocated is because sniks don’t respect fences and there were kids living behind and beside us. Kids aren’t so good at watching where they put their hands and feet.

Go you! I KNOW you feel better now

:people_hugging:

So many big emotions must have happened all at once. I’m glad your beloved was there with you.

Hurray about your knee, I’m so happy you have gotten some relief.

/snert!

Whispers back “I’m so happy to hear that!”

That must have been a nightmare to keep track of then and now. Of course I just looked up GvHD and oh, that poor man.

I’m glad that he’s able to get some immune system training, it would be horrible for him to get taken down by a childhood disease at this point in time.

I don’t pray but I do always keep him in my thoughts and send good wishes his way often.

That doesn’t sound weird at all. You are a craftsman, your tools are important and having a nicely organized shop helps you do your best work no matter what you are doing.

We have found carpenter bees in the uprights of the RV shelter. Hubs waited until the afternoon and filled the holes with caulking and hung bee houses on the uprights and in my little garden patch. We’d rather not kill them so are hoping that we can distract them.

We need to share results in six months.

So swimming happened and then I headed to the capital for a few hours. I"m kinda bummed that the next 50501 protest will be on the first. I thought I was keeping track of things, but I sure did miss that.

Last year, I invited Sticky to go to a glass blowing class with me and shit just kept happening for both of us and we are finally scheduled for the first. She’s going to make a drinking glass and I’m going to make a small bowl. I’m really looking forward to this

I’ve seen the first hummers of the year today which makes me happy. The slugs are going after my African Daisies which doesn’t. Hubs went to the sto and bought a six pack of the cheapest beer he could find to use as slug bait. It would be sacrilege to use the good stuff on them!

I’m also getting ads for guns on my feed which tells me that Hubs is looking at consignment dealers.

He’s been seeing ads for geese feed and nesting boxes which tells him that I’m serious about this.

I also went to Lowes webpage and learned that they make prefab gates that will fit my needs quite nicely. I’m not going to be able to keep birds in the yard with a four ft. gate, I just want it to show my pets where their yard ends.

My standard for jazz drumming has always been Joe Morello of the old Brubeck Quartet.

I hate those little bastards. I’ve found that a mix of Sevin and Durham’s water putty smeared into their hole does a good job. Also I carry a bee bat(aka a piece of 1x4 with a handle carved into one end) when on my porch, kinda looks like a cricket bat. Those guys are soooo annoying, and territorial. Thye’ll hover near you and be menacing, I know they don’t sting, but they still are a-holes. I gotta say, smacking one with the bat is verrry satisfying. And the bastards are so tough that I have to go and step on them after a swat.

Time to make some humming bird food. The regular birds have re-discovered my feeder, but I want the hummies too. Debating suet. The birds seem to like it, but I need to find a better place, currently the melty bits land on the porch.

And dammit. I have to mow my lawn.

Canes win, in spite of the Devils wrecking our goalie. Having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned while the poke loin cooks. So ends vacation.

And once you can go back in the water, you can do underwater basket weaving.

The birds have discovered the feeder I put out. Spot is chirpping with joy.

Several cousins and I sang for my maternal grandfather’s funeral and again for their brother / uncle’s. I sang with two of my late sweetie’s cousins at his paternal grandmother’s funeral and with his two sisters for his maternal grandmother. I had to swallow lumps for all of them.

It’s been chilly here too, mid-fifties, low sixties.

Stainless steel rat, Ben and Jerry’s vanilla fudge caramel.

I went to the charity event, it was at the ballpark. As I am a fervent follower of “slop, slip, slap” I checked with the computer on the temp outside. Low 70’s, I went with light denim jacket. The computer failed to tell me how windy it was. Gust to 30+mph!

Got to the ballpark, checked with coworker, and looked about to find someone who would let me in. 2 vehicles full of pizzas arrived. Due to the wind (gusts have nothing blocking them at the park), the van doors kept closing on the man unloading the pizzas. I went over and held the door.

The other vehicle had different doors and I figured as I’m going in…take some pizzas with me.

Then I joined the tripping mmp group.

There were conflicting security area directions and I tripped over the security gate power supply. The 6 or 7 pizzas started flying! I went down and landed on 2 pizzas! They were a good cushion.

I didn’t get hurt. I was more concerned about the pizzas. The 2 I landed on didn’t get too smashed. didn’t even stick to the lid! When I sat down at our promo table I checked my knee, small scrape, no damage or blood on my jeans. I did score an early piece of pizza.

We gave away all our promos! And get this, our table was next to Asher chocolates! It was lovely talking to their person about their chocolates, and of course getting a sample of a new flavour.

Funny thing, the walk part of the event had us circling the ballpark 3 times. It was a bit surreal, that; No multi lingual chanting or candles.

All in all a rather wild and exercise filled Sunday. Church and cemetery picnic might have been the calmer choice.

It is so glorious to go for a walk around the neighborhood this week. I have so enjoyed walking Bella. Most of the flowering trees are in full bloom and are so beautiful. There are blooms of white, delicate pink, brilliant pink, various shades of purple and red violet.

That’s why when Hubs was working and on the road, he’d ask for a handicapped room, if any were available when he checked in around 6pm. The showers have grab bars.

REI sells shirts that are SPF50.

JtC I’m sorry that you are unable to cross the I75 bridge between Cincy and KY. I’ve crossed that bridge literally dozens of times. I’m glad they’re replacing it now.The last time I crossed it was going to and coming back from the Great Smoky Mountains Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage in April 2022. What I find scary are the incredibly narrow twisting roads in the Appalachian mountains.

Ok, time to take Bella home and spread the crabgrass/weed killer at daughter’s. TTYL or tomorrow.

I will tell Hubs, thanks for the suggestion!

So far I haven’t found need for a bee bat, but our porch has plastic? covers over the wood uprights so they don’t hang around there. We do like having pollinators around, they make my maters grow!

What ratio do you use for the traveling birds? I always used 2:1 in the winter because the Anna’s overwintered in AZ but the interwebz say to use 3:1.

Don’t waste your money on melt-less suet. It melts.

Do you watch the birds with Spot, or have more fun watching Spot watch the birds? I spend much more time watching the fuzzbutts myself.

NOOOOOO!!!

I’m glad you weren’t hurt. It doesn’t surprise me that you wanted to help, that’s just how you are. Hurray for early pizza

Hurray for chocolates too!

I did it once and it was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done. I used to work on nukes, I’ve survived hurricanes, typhoons, wild fires, floods and riots. Our apartment was shot up because people thought the last tenants still lived there. Nothing else has ever terrified me like that bridge.

The noise and vibrations were terrified me to the core. The only reason I didn’t panic stop in the middle of the bridge was my fear of being rear-ended and GG’s travel kennel flying through windshield.

Yeah, I don’t want to talk about that anymore.

The roads scared me when we first moved here. I’m used to driving narrow twisting roads, but you clear line of sight in AZ and here you never have a clue what is right behind the bend here. There might be a deer or cow or car that just hit a deer or cow or Mothman, you just never know.

I don’t let people push me into going faster than I’m comfortable with, but I am always on the lookout for pull out places.

I just saw one of the most disturbing memes ever. I am probably going to have nightmares about what it says about the future for quite a while. This is why I wear Handmaid’s garb at the protests. Do NOT look if you have a weak stomach. I’ll be yeeting that off my flicker account in a few days. I don’t like having sickening stuff like that where I have to see it on a regular basis.

I watch Spot. I love when he sings the “I wanna eat a sparrow” song, and swishes his tail.

Oy.

And the swimming prohibition will be only a week at most for each eye. I bet the doc would ok water walking in the pool as long as you didn’t submerge your face or get pool water splashed on your face. So you could still get some exercise and social contact.

And I am so excited for you to have it done and for what it will do for your stitching. I promise, the next morning when you take that patch off, it might still be blurry But you are going to be able to tell that colors are much more true again and there’s a whole lot more light in your world than there used to be. Suddenly Lincoln, Nebraska had a lot more pearly white cars and a lot fewer shades of beige ones. I haz an anticipatory happy for you and your stitching.

Mor3vonbthat tomorrow.

It’s a fat mama robin, with 3 robins egg blue eggs in her nest. I don’t think we get lots of doves around here. There’s also a flamboyant red cardinal in their back yard, probably plotting the marauding he’s going to do on their little vegetable garden.

Big sappy grin back. Yeah, Jolene’s airplane ears always entertain me. GG fluffs. It is so funny, he will be just sitting there, not looking involved at all and then he will just become twice his size without even moving his tail.

About half the folks I see there have goggles, and a couple of the littles have snorkel masks, so that’s an option as well. I might not have paid as much attention to my ortho guy as I should have, but I have no plans to risk my vision.

Awwww! Robins do much better at making nests, doves are sweet…but not so smart.

Good evening all. Spent a fair amount of the afternoon at the gym, then came home, rested a bit, and then mowed the lawn (and bagged the clippings), so it has been a pretty active day for me. A little sore but still awake and no nappage, so I suspect I’ll sleep good tonight. The forecast says it will be in the mid-80’sF the first part of the week, so glad I got mowage done today.

And now to activate the scrolling responses…

Coppertone, I’d listen to BBBoo advice if at all possible. Hope the books come in.

Sticky Buns, at least you were feeding three people and since it was pizza, you have future snackage available, I believe. And I still have my letter jacket from high school, haven’t tried it on in decades but with the weight I’ve lost recently I wonder…but {{hugs}} for the tears and hopefully the good memories that come with it. And Yay! for painless knee!

FCM, saw the pics of the kids painting on Facebook, they seemed pretty serious about it.

swampy, between you and rocky you have me wanting ice cream, but not enough to get properly dressed again and go get some. Maybe tomorrow…

Cat Glove, my brother and SIL have had health issues and I’ve seen numerous pill containers there, so I guess I am very fortunate to only have 2 pills a day for my regime. How long that will last is anybody’s guess…But glad to hear he is doing better.

VanGo, the only problem with museums is that people go into them… And don’t keep us in suspense, what’s the story of the chair life and the shaking?

Good luck to all with the carpenter bees. One advantage to having a brick house is not too many places for bees and wasps to hang out.

JtC, I can see you put some thought into actions during a Zombie Apocalypse. I’ll probably be one of the first ones they get. And I was tempted (once) to bungee off a bridge, but I laid down until the feeling went away (I like heights…but don’t like jumping from them…).

And that meme…I could say things about it but this is the MMP so I will forbear…

That is three things I like…may have to look for it…

rocky, so glad that the pizzas were OK…and you too… :grinning:

And that was the week that was. Catch all y’all on the next MMP.

Yes, I always listen to her.
But I also didnt like the list of side effects. I didnt take them.
Who gives steroids for toes?
Back in Feb, when I fell, Urgent care gave me nsaid pills.
They didnt help a lot but still.

I own this book. (You can probably find a copy at the library, look at the 800 shelf…800-820.) I own the gun recommended in the book and I also have a two foot long piece of lead pipe in the gun safe. We have a battery powered chainsaw. I am ready.

Except for the part of the story where I’d be sitting in front of my french doors wondering what is going on out there before learning that glass doesn’t stop zombies.

The dollar sto in town has B&J in half pint containers.

Just sayin’

Taxes done! W00t! (In Canada, taxes are due on April 30.)

I needed to do three (3) things upon rearrival at home:

  • big bin → curb
  • fresh pillowcases & blankie → bed
  • wet laundry → dryer

I have accomplished all three, and would like my gold star sticker now.

… or possibly, a blue mermaid.

{ sticks out palm expectantly }

What an unexpected gut-punch.

@susan got you, coupla posts down from yours

Oh, goodness, ducklings are the cyoooootest.

See, we keep things classy & educational here.

Naw, you’re good. And thank you, I’ve added the raucous not-quite tie dye to my cart.

Thank you. I forced myself to get soup & Alaska rolls at the affordable sushi place, and about an hour after I had some, real healing occurred.

Felt soooo much better. Must remember this remedy again. Haven’t been there in a while, and I wanna support them.

I’ve heard/read that the seaweed (nori) used for the wrapper is very good for the blurfs, on account of the sea minerals it contains.
Kinda sounds like a load of hooey to me, but hey, rice & a touch of protein are always tummy-friendly, it settled my stomach, and even made me hungry for MOAR FOOD which hasn’t happened lately.

Anyway, ate the whole thing before even my lunch break (!!) plus someone went on an Arby’s run so I got curly fries, AND I picked up a taco on my break with the intention of saving it for after work, which I did …

… and I’m glad of it, cuz that was a late ass close, and I woulda skipped it.

We had old skool club music going, to keep us moving, and one of the last tunes that came on was “Jump Around.”

Now, because reasons, S.M. put in serious overtime, and Grandma Co-worker is, well, gettin’ on in years.

You’ve never heard three old bitches get (humorously) mad at a song in your life like that.

“No, sir, I will NOT jump around!”
“You jump. I’ll let you.”
“Jump? Me? I admire your optimism.”
“I’m not sure I’m even capable of hopping at this point.”
“Shuffle around! Shuffle 'round!”

Ew. How awkward.

Nope!!

And what did we learn today … ?

(Class in unison: “That there’s no point dusting ceiling fans!”)

digs toe in sand, looking down

Yeah.

That sounds like so. much. FUN!!

Marital communication, 21st century style.

My mom did the same a coupla days ago and posted the - icky but victorious - results on FB.

Oh, hey, my stuff from earlier is already dry!

Retrieving, but the folding & putting away can wait. I’ve done enough for one day.

ETA: showered before work, but brand-new clean pillowcases and blankie? Might hafta rinse off again!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

< pours out Lucky Charms >

Cat’s don’t like it when you bunny kick them back?
