Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and partly N.O.S. with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. I can hardly contain myself. Matter of fact, load one is washin’ away as I post. Other than that, quality cee-mint pond time is on the agenda which will include sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’. Sup shall be tacos, refried beans and rice. Fartfest to follow. OLÈ!
I had a long post with responses in the makin’ but it got et. I am a bit PO’D to attempt it again, so possibly later I shall be back with responses. GRRR!
It’s 56F and partly cloudy outside at the moment. We’re supposed to have rain showers early in the day, but the afternoon will be partly cloudy with a high temperature of 69F.
Happy Birthday, VanGo!
FCM, I am sending all the zen vibes to FCD. In the same situation, I’d probably lose my ever-lovin’ mind.
Flyboy, I am sorry about your friend’s wife.
Well, it’s been quite a couple of days around here.
Most of it was neighborhood drama. There were loud parties, no sleep, and several calls to the Sheriff’s department. Fall out from all of that. I’m exhausted. The husband is continuously angry.
Anyway, the next-door neighbors are still awful people, and I hate it here.
Yesterday was an in-office day. I worked, completed some tasks, and then headed home, stopping at the UPS store to mail a surprise gift to my daughter. I will probably have to go to Port Angeles later this week to meet a junk hauler. If not this week, next week. I will also have to make a trip to Yakima this week or next week, depending on when I’m meeting the junk hauler.in Port Angeles. It’s a lot of driving around, and I’m excited about any of it. Usually, I don’t really mind road trips, but this time, I kind of do. Additionally, this is stuff the MPA should be doing, but she always has some excuse for why she can’t go on her own. She wants to come along if someone else is doing the driving, though. So, I just go on my own, because it’s more quiet, efficient, and I get home sooner.
It’s time to run the dishwasher. You all take care!
I’ve emptied the dishwasher, and stripped and remade both beds. The sheets have been flang down the stairs - I’ll hang in the basement with Roxy while they’re being washed - she should be here in 30-ish minutes or so.
So tahred… not from chores, but from lack of sleep. I’ll be sleeping with Mel tonight, methinks.
FCM, glad FCD and MIL were at least able to get out. Hopefully while it might drive FCD to distraction, it may let you get caught up on your sleep and settle your nerves some. Happy Roxy’ing!
JtC, think that riding the bus round-trip is a good idea, gets you familiar with the area.
VanGO, a most Happy Birthday!
Sari, is there anything like pet insurance? Given you have 3 dogs I wonder if it would be worth it. Glad Misiu has something treatable with his foot.
Flyboy, sorry your friend appears to have problems; bear with him
Taters, sorry to hear about the noise and noisiom neighbors, hope the road trips work out well.
Up and ready to face the day. Need to do some banking and shopping and let Brother and Good Neighbor know I’ll be gone Thursday-Sunday. The lawn is getting a bit long, but I think I will let it go to next week, since my vacation starts on the 20th and I’d rather mow right before that. Other than a gym trip, nothing much else on the agenda. N.O.S. and ‘only’ getting to 82F.
Buddy seems to consider two weeks more than sufficient time to be grounded. He’d been showing very little interest in outside until this morning, when he made a couple of attempted breaks for it while I was taking out garbage (in one instance, I caught him right outside the front door, in the other he didn’t get past the door). I’m still seriously qualmy about letting him out again.
@JaneDoe42, I know it would probably have been better to find out this exists before you bought the new place, but I just became aware of it today and am hoping it won’t be an issue for you.
That is pretty interesting, thanks for showing me. It isn’t really that surprising, WV is home of The Greenbriar (hotel and bomb shelter for the rich and powerful).
Happy Birthday, VanGo! Be sure to eat some cake.
I hope Misiu is feeling better soon, ain’t nobody happy when one of our furfaces is sick.
That’s horrible, I’m so sorry you have to put up with that shit.
I am grumbly about it. I can tell that the soffit has been sagging for quite a while and there is evidence of several older nests. It makes me wonder what else was missed.
The plumbers are here today, Hubs made a whole list for them. Poor GG is not happy so I locked him in what will be hub’s room with some fud and water.
Our new fridge is supposed to be delivered today as well. That will be very nice, living out of ice chests gets old fast.
Mornin’ all. Almost 9am here on a thundery drippy warm tropical morning.
This. It was good for him while it lasted. And that was worthwhile in itself.
I’ve always imagined that mental state is not unlike the way dogs experience the world. Always in the moment, and with some generalized notion of familiar things from the past, but no specific memories of specific past events.
Not a bad way to live, unless you’re aware of how impoverished it is compared to what you used to be capable of. That knowledge would be very painful.
I bet Roxy is self-entertaining enough. Shame you can’t just nap while she plays, much like she naps (or napped when younger) while you chill in your chair.
You (and FCD) certainly have stress and vexation aplenty. Sleep, relaxation, and restorative calm is ideal. If you can find any behind the couch cushions or inside the piano bench.
That is a ghastly situation and is heaping stress onto you. I know you know this, but what alternatives might be open to you?
Yaay!!
Having just gone through the getting-settled process myself it’s surprising how much makeshift arrangements and general disarray add to your stress and how glorious it feels as new-normalcy emerges from the interim wreckage.
May your process have few reverses.
As to me …
I’ve been killing admin all morning. HL has finally gotten off the dime about separating our financial and administrative entanglements. As it typical for her, she is very efficient and diligent once she says “go”. She’s taken herself off my medical insurance, my car insurance, and my renters insurance. She’s taken over the lease and the electricity at her place. She’s working today on the internet & cable TV, plus her dental insurance.
Meanwhile with her approval I’m about to pay off her car once I get the green light from the attorney. That should complete all the de-tangling of ongoing stuff. Then we have a “closing” for things I’m supposed to pay for for the next few months of transition, divide the remaining chunk of joint money in half, and do the actual divorce.
I’m not much pained by the current work-in-process state, but there will be a pretty nice celebration the day I get the final decree in hand.
Mildly vexing she chose to do this while I’m on vacation, but the 21st century is this cool place where I can administrate from anywhere, not just from the home office with a pen, paper, envelopes, stamps, and all my paper files in their bulging filing cabinets.
Today we intend to do the tourist thing at the canal and locks. The widening and lock replacement project wasn’t started when I left, so it’ll be interesting to get a look at all the new facilities contrasting with the familiar century-old facilities nearby.
We’re going to the hospital now and may be saying goodbye to W_______. Their friend H____ is going to come get J_______. Don’t tell him why he’s going if you speak to him today.
That sounds horrible. Almost nothing’s worse than shitty neighbors. You can’t get away from them. My husband also gets really angry when the neighbors are being obnoxious, and his anger doesn’t dissipate for days. It’s hard to live with.
My preserves have turned out beautifully. I made them with fresh bing cherries from our local orchards, and they’re “seasoned” with lemon juice and almond extract. I treated myself to a cherry pitter when I saw how cheap they were, and I was glad I did, because hand-cutting the pits out of two pounds of cherries would have been a very prolonged and messy job. I roughly chopped most of the cherries but left a few whole, because I wanted a chunky preserve rather than a smooth jam.
I followed the canning recipe and boiled the jars and lids first, quickly filled them with hot jam, then screwed down the lids tight and put them in a boiling pot for 10-12 minutes. They’ve been cooling for a couple of hours and the little dimple thing on the tops is properly popped into place.
I had a little extra jam, not enough to fill another jar, and that went in the fridge for immediate use. I just had some on a bit of toast - yum! Intense sweet cherry flavor with a slight tart edge from the lemon juice, and the wonderful almond flavor. Well, I have five one-cup jars in the cupboard now. I’d better start using it; Mr. brown hates jam.
So Panamanian Vince is still in NYC, so we were still short staffed. And there was a spill of shampoo, shutting down a slide till Deb cleaned it up. Then some mouthbreather started emptying Bloomington IL’s empty bags onto the belt. Then SSLAW #1 kept breaking down every 10 packages. But we finished, in spite of the insanity.
Also, Spot was channeling GG this morning. He likes to yeet my little flashlight off my nightstand, but today it rolled and got caught between the comforter and the stand. He couldn’t get it out, so I fished it out, showed it to him, he looked at it, and went right back looking for it in the comforter folds.
Sorry about the noise and neighbor, Taters.
Taters might want to hire you for the MPA.
< good vibes to FCD > Or at least hoping it’s not so bad he starts wearing a “Boeing Whistleblower” nametag.
Big parade of police cars went by early this morning, all lights flashing. This was in homage to an officer who was ambushed recently while trying to help someone he thought was hurt. Turned out the guy was playing possum, pulled a gun and killed the cop. By all accounts, the cop was a decent man and a good officer who hadn’t been on the force all that long. The asshole was killed by the cop’s partner, who was also wounded.
Slow day today, otherwise. Went to the store yesterday for a few items and ended up with a tally of $168. This is what happens when you impulse buy junk food. I drew the line at $6.50 for a fucking box of Wheat Chex.
Dental appointment tomorrow for routine stuff. I haven’t been in over a year because of the knee surgery and danger of infection, so it won’t be any fun. Even after this long I will still have to take four antibiotic capsules an hour before going in. This will continue for another year.
Oh yeah, and they’re doing fire alarm testing in the building today. What excitement in our lives!
Is there any way to complain about his job performance to the agency he works for? That dude be slackin’ on the job & still gettin’ paid for it.
I’d bet a nickel she did that on purpose.
I must say, I’ve always admired that you look for the positive in crap situations. It’s a tendency I do not possess, in case that wasn’t glaringly obvious, but I can tell a good influence when I see one.
I’m always impressed by people who know how to successfully home-can. Enjoy your yumminess!
I realized too late to edit that I left that interpretation out there. Which was unintentional on my part.
She has zero knowledge of my goings on. This was just the Universe f***ing w me.
Besides, she’s simply not that sort of person. She can blindly pursue her agenda without regard for collateral damage, but she’s not vindictive while doing it.
Yep, Allie does regular gravity checks with any object she can get her paws on. Fortunately, this is not a thing of Buddy’s.
@LSLGuy, I honestly thought HL might have timed that rather purposely too. You have mentioned instances of major pettiness on her part, so that interpretation would seem to fit.
