I did order myself some new Red Sox hats, as the current ones are getting a bit gunky. I usually do that at the start of the season, but didn’t this year. I have a very simple system for which hat I wear…they win, same hat, lose, change hats. I’ve been doing this for a long time, I probably have 20 sox hats scattered around the house.
What loveliness shall our new climate (change) bring us?
But all gloom’n’doom aside … HIPPO BURPDAY TWO EWE!! and I hope everyone was nice to you today.
Almost guaranteed, someone went, “Huh?” and someone else went “WTF? Ugh. I can’t even. Hey, can you … ?” and someone else - probably a supe - poked a button.
I wouldn’t know anything about that. Nope. Not a damn thing. { bats eyelashes with false innocence }
However, as of about ten minutes ago, The Behemoth was shoved out the side door, and believe me, it looked disturbingly like childbirth.
It is done. It is on my driveway. The utility co. confirmed that as long as it’s plugged in (hello, heavy duty extension cord!) they’ll haul it away for a rebate.
The two very nice men are now re-attaching the door trim & weatherstripping. They were so calm & low-key in their communication (between themselves, their boss, and with me) and for someone with more than a bit of anxiety, that was wonderful.
Now, either a cooler ‘n’ a bag of ice, or a call to Rent-A-CenterTempCrap for a mini fridge.
Why the FUCK did I get a dozen eggs last week? Now I gotta … well, those scrambled eggs I wanted the other day are def happening.
Yes, it is.
Me too.
Hold my …
Make that hold two of my .
Well, there’s certainly been lots of preliminary screaming, so the resemblance is unsurprising.
Seriously, congrats on that mongo irritant finally being solved.
Howdy Y’all! We had quality cee-mint pond time followed by an early sup. Now ‘tis chillax time. I got a postcard from DDS (that’s Jawja for DMV) remindin’ my dl is up for renewal before my bday. The renewal is thirty-two bucks but it’s for eight years so I ain’t complainin’.
Taters always hated it when I had to ride with a co-irker on trips. I much preferred to go on my own. Yet another reason to love bein’ a retired drain on society.
MOOOOOOM have fun bein’ left unsupervised and enjoy the RoxStar time.
JtC good idea with the bus. Practical and an adventure all rolled up in one!
sari glad the vet found out what’s wrong with Misiu. May he feel better soonest, poor baby.
JtC yay for new fridge!
FlyBoy {{{ }}} that’s just what I know to do in this situation.
shoe know you’ll be glad to finally get rid of that fridge. I see where that has now happened.
wheelie yay for resolved insurance issue!
Yeah, but in retrospect, I really should’ve had something $$ to tip them with.
I feel like an asshole. They did such a good job.
Best I could do was give them the bestest review possible.
Dammit.
You just reminded me. I have a sleep study tonight. And while they’re somewhat torturous and inconvenient, I am so glad that it’s finally here. I look forward to not being so tired all the time. My current machine is supposed to be an auto titration unit, but obviously something isn’t right.
I’m so glad that you’re having a great trip!
That really does last longer than the $$$.
Well, I got an email today from a recruiter wanting to hire me for teaching job. The pay is lousy so I kind of joked to my mom and then sent the guy a somewhat specific description of the job that I would actually be interested in and he said that was exactly what he was hiring for. So, I agreed to talk to him on the phone tomorrow. However, I looked at their website and I see that his idea of one element of the job and my idea are very different. So it might be less than desirable after all, but we shall see.
I’ve got another hour or so to chill and then I’ll be off to get all of that lovely gook placed in my hair along with all those wires that make it extra comfy to sleep.
Yay shoe on getting the big slug out of the house. Maybe you could have given the guys a little toke? Too late now, I suppose.
I actually read that as the best view possible and thought she got tarted up in a low cut blouse and push-up bra cause that would work too.
TIL that folks in WV look at you funny if you call a mini-twister a dust-devil.
We will not be using the kennel we bought for GG again, so I’ve been trying to give it away. The plumbers couldn’t think of anyone who would want it so I wondered if someone would take it if I put it out by the street with a FREE sign. They assured me that it would indeed go away, but “it might take a minute”.
After the plumbers were done (new bathroom faucets, new bidet terlits and a shut-off valve in my closet. The shut off valve was in the crawlspace, and we aren’t going under there. The plumbers did say that we have a very nice crawl space, so yeah.) I went to Captain Dan’s in Logan and bought my first ever lobster roll. It was SO good, now my goal is to have one not prepared in a Long John Silvers clone.
GG spent the day locked in the back room with food, water and litter box and is now very clingy. He thinks he is owed all of the days worship all at once now.
I’m glad there weren’t any broken bones or serious issues. Skritches.
Happy birthday VanGo!
I don’t know what others pay, but when I looked into it for Nelson, most of the rates were ~$75 a month with a $300 deductible. I just decided to put $50 a month in an account for vet bills.
I’m so sorry.
It’s been a couple of decades since I’ve bought a box of cold cereal, so to me, that’s shocking.
Aggravating, yes, but a good dress rehearsal for something that you really would like.
GG has a good excuse to be clingy: his world has been upended. Nelson has been clingy for the past few days and I don’t know why.
wet one, shoe and JtC, I finally got around to playing with that die that you can cross stitch on. It’s almost 3" diameter and has dies for the hoop as well. I didn’t want to try to find a small pattern, so I freehanded a heart and made a card with it. I think that I may order some of the other stitching dies later.
Irked, came home to a craft order on my step, et, worked in the studio and am now surfing. SSDD.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
JtC As a Mainer, not that I still live there, I find the thought of your first lobster roll being in West Virginia somewhat wrong. But glad it was tasty. Yer gonna need to get further north and east to find a real one.
shoe Enjoy the eggs.
I cooked myself something I hope turns out well for birthday dinner. Currently baking away. An almost cottage pie. Basically meatloaf with scalloped potatoes on top. We shall see.
I’m laying here, mostly hooked up waiting for the final check. JtC, glad things are going well for you.
Good evening all. Have finished the Mac-n-Cheese for dinner (just about balanced the calories I pedaled off earlier), along with some Ritz crackers to finish things off, so I am prepared for the night. Since I’ll be gone after tomorrow for almost 3 weeks (save 3 days home next week) I’m trying not to get anything that I’ll have to toss out due to expiration so meals tomorrow may be catch-as-catch-can. Only 78F outside but this house holds heat like anything, so still have the AC working for a little longer.
Mail had a bill from the Pest Control company and a solicitation to get a quote for burial or cremation services. The info was for a local Funeral service but the mail address is in Ohio, so may end up getting some pressure-sales tactics. Ah well, not planning on dying for some time yet, so could be informative and/or amusing. We shall see.
Also need to drop an e-mail to my neighbors to let them know I’ll be gone for the weekend. Will call brother once this message is finished to touch base with them too.
11 hours and 45 messages…well, here goes…
nellie, it’s terrible to have to suggest it since this is not a problem of your making, but is there any other apartment in the viciinity that might be quieter? Kids are probably not going to get a lot better at not making noise…and I am constantly amazed at your walking prowess; and Ms. Dog doesn’t do badly either; do you take water/dog treats along with you?
JtC, glad the plumbing went well.
Pilot, went through the Miraflores locks last November on my cruise, I think we went through the older ones, I remember there was a structure where people could sit and watch us get locked through the Canal. Keep on enjoying a pleasant time.
Best wishes.
Lucky, glad that the preserves came out well.
Cupcakes, might as well go on the new interview, might not be the fit you want but then again, maybe it will. Won’t know until you try. And yeah, I remember 35+ years ago when I applied to substitute teach at a Christian Academy, one of the questions on it was “Have you been saved? Provide details.” Needless to say, I never subbed there.
Wheelie, there are very rare times the Fairy Godmother of Bureaucracy shows up and makes things happen fast. But she only shows up on alternative Tuesdays in the summers of years ending in ‘4’ (or so I’ve heard).
Cookie, sad news about the policeman, they get bad press theses days (much of which is deserved), but they still put their lives on the line with a lot of assholes with guns out there. Not a job I could ever do. And an 14oz. box of Wheat Chex here is $4.99 at Kroger.
shoe, glad Refrigerzilla is outside. Let’s hope the replacement is soon. Has the lawn been mowed?
BBBoo, no brain injury here (well, we’ll see what the MRI says Moanday), but your advice is invaluable not only to flyboy. And wait until 3 year old sees Pinocchio for the first time…
And that’s all I got. Looked at the clock and it’s probably to late to call Brother, will do it tomorrow for sure.
Y’all take care now.
I am actually very proud of GG. He’s been adjusting so well despite everything changing on a daily basis. I am hoping that when we get his new Sissy (Hubs is sure we need to get a female), he will be able to help her confidence levels.
We have looked into pet insurance for our fuzzbutts but it did seem rather pricey for young, healthy cats. Buying it for older cats was prohibitively expensive.
Wants a pic of the card!!!
Red Lobster sometimes advertises them but I couldn’t manage to convince myself to pay twenty bucks for one without knowing what they were. It was easy to pay 6 bucks to find out if I liked it as much as I hoped I would.
Sounds pretty good to me, I hope you enjoy it!
I am sorry for the cascade of failures in your life recently. I hope things start getting better soon. Are you able to find a lawyer to help you with the disability? I’ve heard that since SS back pays from the time of the first application that many lawyers are happy with 10% of that big check once the job is done.
Well crap! This is the first time I’ve linked to something from my Flickr account. I’ll try again tomorrow.
I have Flickr and what I do is to click on the pic I want to share and copy/post the addy and then click enter to make everything work.
it’s 19:14 now. There’s a Facebook message saying that my friend’s wife ‘passed peacefully’. The message was at 18:47.
I was the Best Man at their wedding. I pulled out a plastic ring from a gum ball machine. She said in a pinched voice to the officiant (it was a JP wedding), ‘That is not the right ring.’ My friend and I thought it was funny. I think I said I went to high school with my friend. I’ve known her for 41 years.
So sorry, about your friend, flyboy.
Judas Priest? Junior Prom? Jorge Posada?
Elliptacalated for 45 minutes tonight. Felt good, I’ll keep tweaking the minutes upward - if my legs don’t feel like they’re going to fall off tomorrow morning.
I’ve been going Tuesdays and Saturdays, ‘cause that’s when Mrs W has her water aerobics. I’m thinking about adding in Thursdays. Maybe I’ll wait until after vacation. I don’t want to try to do too much too soon and then get discouraged.
While walking, I always think of Mumpers I should have replied to, like pilot. I wanted to say I get a little thrill from “Greetings from Panama.” I’ve never been able to travel much, but your descriptions help me live vicariously. And shoe, I wanted to tell you I checked going rates here before I settled on $40/day. I wish I’d charged more, though. I used to charge $25/day for cats, and they’re way easier. Oh, and I couldn’t figure how ekse to describe how she tried to flee other than “squirted.” It was too fast for “crawled” or “escaped.”
Speaking of dogs, here’s the best photo I got today of Ms. Dog. She moves too much!
So do you call it, a dust angel? A dust televangelist?
Did you visit him while he was in the pokey? I hear they can trade cigarettes for Milk Bones.
That’s smart!
Those seem connected in a “The worms play pinochle in your snout” kind of way.
Thank heavens!
There are probably some in the complex, but I’dhate to move when I’ll probably move again when my lease is up in February.
Yes. I bring dog treats. When she thinks she deserves one, she’ll look me in the eye and gaze meaningfully at my pocket. I also bring water and a plastic container. There are water fountains and dog fountains wherever we go, so she gets water frequently. She lets me know what she needs. Sometimes, it’s just lovin’, in which case she leans against me and says, “I love you” with her eyes.
Justice of the Peace, at the courthouse.
