(Old) Getting Organised in the MMP

I napped. Spot used my head for a pillow. Which felt just like having a furry bowling ball dropped on my head. I had a Manhattan and Redneck Stirfry for dinner.

{{{{Flyboy}}}}

Got to go to Lieutenant Dan’s for a shrimp Po Boy, though.

that’s what I want for a vacation.

Ms. dog is tre tre cute!

flyboy So sorry for your loss. I do like the wrong ring story.

nellie Ms dog is quite the handsome…err beautiful pup.

Enough of this nonsense, I have the heat on and it’s time for bed. Absurd for this time of year.

My friend wrote a book. I bought it years ago when it was published to support my friend – Jonathan, if you click the link. I haven’t read it yet. I really should. It was published after his TBI. I’m not sure of when he started writing it. Looking at the cover on the link, that really looks like his late wife’s eyes… though I thought she was heterochromic (one blue, one green). The book…

CONTAINS STRONG LANGUAGE . . . and a squirrel.

Yeah, Jonathan really likes squirrels.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I await the see the insanity the Screwup Fairy has in store.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 16c/60f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Oh look. The fucking sun finally decided to show up.” True enough, it’s sunny but there’s a lot of grey cloud out there too.

I would wonder too, and I’d be asking the company who sent him to come out and do another inspection (at no cost to you) to confirm that he didn’t miss anything else.

How fabulous to have canned treats to look forward to!

That’s good news - I expect someone just unpushed a button they shouldn’t have pushed in the first place

{{{{{flyboy}}}}} I am sorry for your loss, but glad to hear that your friend’s passing was peaceful.

Nothing exciting in my day, yesterday’s Board of Examiners meeting was long but uneventful. I’ve got minutes to tidy up this morning and then I need to round up the documents that we need to send through to Registry once the whole dog and pony show is over. There are two more BoE meetings tomorrow, one of them I have to attend but I can pretty much write the minutes beforehand so I’ll do that this afternoon.

Missed the edit window…

In other big campus news, the VC has now decided he’s fed up with the student protest peace camps and he’s opted to go to court for a possession order. I did wonder how long that would take since the student graduation ball is coming up, and they need to set up the graduation celebration marquees in the space where the tents are. I expect it will be granted quickly because it is technically an illegal occupation of university property, and the VC has been lenient allowing them to stay this long. There have been people around who aren’t students, there’s been extensive vandalism on the Aston Webb building, including some parts that will be extremely expensive to repair. Hopefully the protesters will remove themselves before it gets ugly.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 and mostly N.O.S. Lots of stuff, well for us anyway, happenin’ today. I have an appt. with my PCP at eight-thirty this mornin’, we need to procure provisions, and tonight is the last book group over to the church house. Gonna be tough to squeeze in the requisite sloth today! I think we shall grab a MC. N.O.L. for the main feed of the day.

JtC hope the kennel got disappeared when you put it out. Stuff does here when we put it out by the road. Yay for plumbers gettin’ stuff done. Not a big fan of lobster, but glad you enjoyed. GG does deserve all the loves after such a traumatic day.

Sticky_Buns hope the sleep study went well.

VanGo your bday dinner sounds good. Let us know how it turned out. Sounds like sump’n we’d enjoy here at da cave.

MetalMouse not too unusual for a “local” funeral home to be owned by a company. Most are kind of chains these days.

FlyBoy so sorry for your loss.

Nellie Ms. Dog is such a cutie! I want to give her skritches!

BooFae vandalism is a good enough reason to break up those “peace” camps. No excuse for that.

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR FFFLLLYYYBBBOOOYYY!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Oh woe!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

@Johnny_L.A

And a good early morning all. Up before 6am, so will have a reason to get to bed early tonight so I’m well-rested for my travel tomorrow. Need to wash dishes and do laundry this morning, then start packing (so I have time to remember what I am forgetting). Also need to gas up car and maybe get some swimming in. The good news is that there is no rain predicted for Knoxville this weekend; the bad news is that the high each day will be about 90F (same here, but up there I’ll be chasing soccer players 3-4 times a day).

{{{flyboy}}}. A bittersweet way to celebrate your birthday, what with your friend’s wife passing (and that was a great bit of humor 40+ years ago). Be well.

nellie, nice photo and thanks for the replies.

Sheeee’s Hereeeee…

boo fae, hope the movement of the encampment is peaceful.

Happy Doctor day, swampy

OK, need to get things started. Have a good Hump Day all.

Good morning everyone.

It’s 50F and mostly cloudy outside. Throughout the day, there will be a mix of clouds and sun, and the high temperature will be around 67F.

It became very windy up here yesterday, windy enough to knock over a plant and plant stand on my front porch. This was a big basket, too. I moved the plant and stand to the inner corner of the porch and against the house, but I will move them back to the original spot today.

Nellie, what a sweet-looking pup!

Happy Birthday, flyboy!

Teela, you’re so right about how exhausting extended anger can be. He’s still pissed.

JtC, I’m sorry to read about the missed stuff on the inspection. I sure hope nothing else is found wrong.

Yesterday felt very long, even though I was busy. Normally, since this is the second Wednesday of the pay period, I’d be going to the office. But I’m driving up to Port Angeles tomorrow, so that will count as my “in-office” day. And, since I’m driving to Yakima on Monday, that day will count as my “in-office” day for next week.

Nellie, I bring something like this when we take the pups on walkies. Portable dog water bottle

Shoe, yay for the big ol’ hunk of junk being removed!

FCM, I hope all is well and you’re sleeping in today.

Well, it’s time for another cup of coffee and to run the dishwasher. Take care, everyone.

Reminds me of when I was sent to Memphis for my first Navy training. A group of us went out to eat and I saw crabcakes on the menu - woohoo! Um, not. Turns out they were more like breadcrumb patties over which someone whispered the word “crab” - what a heartbreak!! So I know whereof you speak!

Roxy slept all night in the basement - I was truly surprised. Tho she did leave a light on - she’s not fond of the dark. When I came out of my room this morning, she was in the bathroom - I was surprised she was up so early. She’s been fed and she’s watching some educational stuff on YouTubeKids. After I finish my computer time and get dressed, I’m going to have her help me mulch my veggie patch. Then she wants to paint - I think I have some paints in my studio.

I need to call Hyundai for FCD - he created an account using an email that no longer exists and we can’t change the address (at least not that I can find.) I also need to make myself an appointment with a cardiologist. So a full, fun day ahead!

I still woke at stoopit o’clock, but I did fall back to sleep eventually. We’ll see if it was enough for me to make it till bedtime!

Happy Wednesday!!

Up and wishing my window got the morning sun.
Next week it will be up to 90 so I can take off my sweatshirt inside my oddly cold apt.
Off to do more training.

The wife insists on shopping at a local store called Kowalski’s. It’s more expensive than any other place, but it’s close to us. I’m not sure that’s reason enough to go there, but it’s a battle I’d just as soon not fight. I do draw the line at some things like bacon and butter, as I just refuse to pay their prices for those things when Costco is ten minutes away.

It’s possible she wants to support a small local business vs. a big corporate chain.

… although for staples like bacon’n’butter, I’d vote Team Cheapest Prices, too.

Thank you, Swampy, Hippie, Metal Mouse, and *Taters!

She wasn’t amused. Don’t see why not… Last month was their 39th anniversary.

They are local, but they’re high end local. Their markup on things is pretty stiff. We can afford it, but at times it’s aggravating, especially when they want $6+ for a pound of crappy butter.

Certain women enjoy the implied status of paying extra for goods. Doubly so if they’re spending money they didn’t have to earn.

When I lived with HL there were two Publix stores on the very same main drag near us. One 1.1 miles south, the other 1.7 miles north. For … reasons … the 1.1 mile store was about 10-15% more expensive than the other. On nearly everything in the store. HL greatly preferred that one. I preferred the other one as it was also larger and had a wider selection of goods. And had more parking.

Not her. She was unable / unwilling to articulate what she liked about “her” store. They’re both Publix in the same zip code on the same street!

Damn, Johnny, that’s rough. Good luck to the survivors.

Holy crap - trying to get FCD an appt with a dermatologist is bat-crap crazy here! My derm has no openings till August. I’m waiting for a callback from another group, and there’s a third I’ll try if the callback doesn’t work.

I did get some help from the local Hyundai guy, except my stoopit phone won’t handle their bluelink app. Dammit. I need a better phone, I guess.

It’s 10:30 and I’m still in jammies - been on the phone much of the morning.
