[OLD] Have As Good A New Monday MMP As Possible

real fish, if you were at the one at Blackstone’s, then I’ve likely met you. I’m in pretty regular contact with brynda and semi-regular with cubmistress (her sister) and tuckerfan, but it is through the local secular community for the first and last.

{{{wordy}}} I can’t tell you how sorry I am to hear that about your mother.

shoe, the salsa verde that I make is with tomatillos. I’ve done it with either fresh that I blister under the broiler or canned, which will do in a pinch.

Yay on the knee nellie!

{{{FCfamily}}} I hope that your SIL gets the help that he needs.

Houseirk, laundry and grocery shopping is done. It was too wet to take the little beast to the dogpark, so we took a walk through Lowe’s. As usual, he was spoiled by the ladies in the paint department.

Chilling, but fixing to mess around in the studio for a bit.

FCM, I somehow missed your post about SIL. I’m so sorry for him. It’s a terrible disease. I had a friend who went to a psychiatrist for depression, and in addition to exercise, he recommended eating turkey and salmon. I don’t recall the rest: something about music. (I’m guessing not Leonard Cohen or anything sad.) One of the many sucky things about depression is that it makes you reluctant to do all the things that can help it, so he may need nudging. I think your calm, practical, loving presence was probably the best thing for him right then. Is he on antidepressants? If so, maybe he needs a different dosage or a different medication. I’ll be thinking of him, poor guy, and of your daughter, because it’s hard to live with a depressed person.

Boo, call the emergency number! Here’s why. A few years ago, I had a painful eye issue (spoilered for those icked out by eye stuff): I’d popped a stitch. I called the eye clinic and asked for an emergency appointment. The first available was five miserable days later. The eye doc told me not to wait that long, that if I was having a real issue like that to call the emergency after-hours number because that doc could see to it that I got in right away. It’s not just that you’re miserable, which is reason enough in itself; it’s that dental infections can infect your heart, and you definitely don’t want that. My ex-husband’s third wife got an infected tooth that led to sepsis. You need to be seen pronto.

I would have had the toddler with me, if you remember a cute little boy of about 18 months, 2 years running around. I remember talking with brynda and Rick quite a bit while we were there but everyone else is such a blur. I can poke tuckerfan on FB and let him know it’s over here, whenever we finally make definite plans for getting together.

New news on the Dad front - they are waiting until tomorrow morning to transport him. I’ve got to say that I’m pretty glad that they’re waiting, what with the tornado watch and everything tonight. So he should be nice and secure for one last night in the hospital. And hopefully, nothing else will change in my plans for tomorrow.

Hubs and I are talking about a bat house. How high off the ground are the church houses? Does someone have to clean them out every year? Does the poop all fall out in a pile that someone could put in their garden cause bat poop is great for plants.

The Nextdoor folks seem to agree that bat houses and planting night blooming plants help attract bats so maybe they started coming around because of the 4 o’clocks and then found the feeders.

One of my very favorite sounds is the ping of their radar hitting a mosquito cause that means another of those little disease ridden bloodsuckers just bit the dust.

OMG!!! I’m gonna have sympathy itches for the rest of the day. ickickick

Poor Taz, it’s always so hard when the end is near.

I was having too much fun rolling around in the mud and I needed to snap myself out of it.

I’m actually fairly popular ATM because I am breaking Nextdoor rules to allow the trumpies one thread about PAB. I’m stomping on threats and slurs, but letting them have a free-for-all there. I check it every hour or so but other than that I’m leaving it alone.

Arizona didn’t used to be like this. There is so much beauty here and we used to all be small town neighbors who looked out for each other. I like to think that someday sanity will rule again, but I also like to think that someday my hip will magically regenerate…

Poor lil guy. I hope he can get off the Pred soon, it isn’t very nice.

How fun! Did you ever say what sort of birds they are? My BFF has a dove nest on her front porch so they are using the back door for the duration.

Too much work and I don’t need to keep myself from rolling around in the mud here cause I don’t have to read the Pit, but thanks for the vote of confidence.

That sucks. The lack of communication sucks even more. I hope it gets straightened out without causing more health problems for your Dad.ETA I read further and saw that your Dad will be close to you after all. Big sigh of relief.

I am so sorry. It’s just not fair, none of you deserve this. :people_hugging:

Its the crazy weather. You are getting dust from Saudi Arabia and pollen from California.

Thirded!!!

You said what I was thinking…

I am so sorry you are hurting so much. I wish there was something I could do to help, dental pain is the worse. Can your doctor give you a script of antibiotics? Usually that sort of pain means infection.

Hurray for new car and being home safe. If you can be safe anywhere when a tornado strikes.

One of John Coleman’s thorms, eh? (Or was he on WLS?)

Irk was irksome.
I’m killing a little time before feeding the dogs, and cat if he is around.

I want to go to bed early tonight.
Not sure I’ll be going to the park tomorrow. Winds are supposed to be 23-35 mph with gusts up to 55mph, then later in the day gusts up to 65mph.
Sounds like a good day to stay indoors, and away from power lines and trees. I’m glad my tree got cut down, and I hope the neighbor’s dead tree doesn’t fall on anything of mine. I wonder if I should park my truck out front.

{{{Wordy}}} I’m sorry about your mom.

FCM, I’m sorry about your SIL, and Taz You never get a break do you.

I had a dr appt for Moonday. I got them to move it to the 17th. I was supposed to get blood irk done and got so wrapped up in everything else that I forgot about it. I haven’t been to PT in weeks.
I’ve gotten caught up enough that I feel like I can catch my breath a little, and then I remember TAXES!

I have to vent again briefly, because I’m ready to scream at the hospital that Dad is at. They called me to tell me that he’d be going to the SNF we wanted him to be in, but that instead of sending him tonight as originally planned, they were waiting until tomorrow morning because we’re under tornado warning. Which is exactly what I want to happen because having Dad in an ambulance, driving for an hour, is stupid when there’s a chance of tornados. So, after speaking with them, I thought everything was done and dusted.

Nope. I just got off the phone with Dad. He called to tell me that they hadn’t come to get him yet. So I had to tell him what was going on. I told him that no matter what, he was not going back to that hospital. If he needs to be taken somewhere by ambulance, there’s a town closer to Nashville with an emergency center affiliated with the hospital his doctor is through. He can go there or come out here. (And he does agree with me on this.) They can have great care - and he’s said that the nurses have been great with the care - but if they can’t keep the patient or family informed what’s going on, if they have different people telling different things to the patient, then it’s not somewhere that anyone that is dealing with the stress of a hospital stay needs to be dealing with.

huffhuffpuffpuff

Actually, your toddler was the one I remember. :stuck_out_tongue:

Up from naptime. Watching F1 practice, drinking a Sazarac, and having fish and shrimp stew with curry powder, lime leaves, and Dundicut chilies.

The bookcases are cool. The wallpaper makes me want jazz and a martini. :cocktail:

Yay!

Some day I will raise my mind up to the gutter. Today is not that day(and tomorrow doesn’t look promising, either).

A few hours after I posted that it’s supposed to be super windy tomorrow afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning. Gusts of up to 60 mph are possible. They mentioned trees being blown down, power outages, travel difficulties, etc. After a lot of thinking, I decided to cancel my branch’s participation in tomorrow’s outdoor event: even without a tent, dealing with a table, flyers, etc., could just be too difficult. It also started feeling potentially too unsafe to ask my committee members to travel, and to be around other people’s tents/unsecured items. Not an easy decision to make, but after I notified everyone I felt relieved.

The branch is sponsoring a rally/protest in the morning — an unarmed black man was recently shot and killed by county police after stealing some sunglasses — and I briefly considered going now that I can, but ultimately I decided to let myself sleep in and not go anywhere until the piano bar thing. Over the course of my time with the NAACP I’ve gradually come to terms with the fact that I’m more of an admin/behind-the-scenes/special events person than a protest person.

BBBoo: ugh! :frowning: :people_hugging:

OMG. :woman_facepalming:

RealFish, FCM, BBBoo, nellie, too all with problems and worries great and small, just as many {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} as I can dish out long-distance. Nothing else I can do, good advice has already been relayed, so here’s some more hugs {{{{{ }}}}}.

JtC, don’t know what bird exactly, it’s a rather small one with a rather large nest, I’ll see if I can get a picture of it to post.

So much else to read, but it’s 9pm and I spent 3 hours helping on soccer (not coaching, just getting uniforms distributed/sold and other stuff) and some other shopping, so a bit tired–and if the weather cooperates, I have two games to referee and one to coach tomorrow (right now we’re due to have t-storms around 2-3am, so soccer doesn’t look promising). Decided to heck with losing weight today, went to Whataburgers for dinner and am quite well-fed now.

Take care all (oh, and {{{{{hugs}}}}}

He was WLS. I forgot “thorms “. Coleman was quite the character. The thorms are gone. I did spend a few moments in the powder room. It’s the only interior room and is under the staircase.

My new car has rain spots. GRR.

Who died?

On the way to/from my aunt’s funeral, I noticed flags at half-staff. I don’t think they were lowered for her.

I believe they are still being lowered because of the last school shooting.

Don’t disturb mommy bird for me!

It is the season for fledglings though. The local Thrasher family has been showing their youngling the wonders of suet. I seriously enjoy watching those mouthy birds and I’m hoping they will nest in my pomegranate when it gets bushy enough. They build multi-generational nests and it would be delightful to have one close enough to watch the goings-on again.

Nooooo, don’t! I’d get so lonesome down here.

My Dziadzia was a dairy farmer. Even after he passed, there was a huge pile of cow manure outside the barn. Mom would bring some home every year and put it in the hole she dug for the tomato plants. They were the most flavorful tomatoes!

I’m wondering if it has anything to do with the Earth’s Children series by Jean Auel. If it does, then I’d suggest either Ayla or Jondalar. Since I’m only on post 66 and there are 271 posts, it’s likely this may have been addressed. If so, my apologies. Well, now I see Niner has been annointed. I’d still like to know if the handle is related to the Earth’s Children series.

I’ve made an excel file. Perhaps I can post over the weekend unless it’s already been done. (I’m up to post 74)

BBBoo yay for getting the IPad in working order but I wouldn’t think it would be close to a Benjamin. Also sending {{{ }}}

Congrats Taters’Son :confetti_ball:

Up to post 111 out of 275 now. But as it’s after midnight and I’ll likely have to drive Hubs to his blood draw early in the morning, I need to turn in now. Night night all.

And…we broke GG. Again. Sadly, this is not hard because the boy just isn’t that bright.

An out of state friend will be in the area in a couple of weeks, so I’ve been working on his trick with him. He was getting pretty good at it once I had his attention. A couple of days ago, GG was taking a nap with Hubs at the scheduled treat time and Crabby Old Cat started getting vocal about it, so I got the hairball treats out and GG melted off Hub and onto the floor. I tried to get him to sit up a couple of times but then Very Bad Cat started adding her I WANT MY FUCKING TREAT NOW!!! screams into the mix, so I dropped GG’s treat on the floor a couple of inches away from his nose and moved on. Hubs told me that GG never once got up from the prone position, he just hair-schooched himself close enough to the treat to stick his tongue out and get it into his mouth.

Hubs almost died laughing at the jerkface, but when it was time for Hubs to give them their nightly treats (Spoiled? Our cats? Ya think?) GG flopped down on the floor and rolled his eyes around. Hubs caved and laughed as GG tongue chased his four treats into his mouth.

Now GG is convinced that all he has to do is just fall over on the floor with his mouth open and we will drop treats into it. Or maybe he’s the one training us because tonight Hubs put his glasses on so he could drop the treats into GG’s gaping mouth.

I will be so happy when it’s warm enough to send Hubs out to play with his motorcycle.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave

So I had trained the late Maggie Wonderbeagle to “speak”, and the treat I used was baby carrots(she loved them) Which despite her not being the brightest bulb in the chandelier, workee. One day I decided to have some as a snack, and she noticed. So she started barking, starting at a small “bork”, and escalated to “The Inviaible Mole People are driving golf carts in the kitchen!”, and adding bouncing up and down. I laughed so hard I asperated a carrot fragment.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 80 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for this afternoon/evenin’. We shall see. In a bit I shall put a Boston < snerk > BUTT! < snerk > into the slow cooker along with some apple juice, onion, and garlic to slow cook throughout the day. It will get shredded and turned into 'cue to take to the church house tomorrow for first Sunday brunch. I shall also make a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea. We have buns and also some Sweet Baby Ray’s sauce to take so folks can make sammiches if desired. We shall go the the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet for N.O.L. which will take care of the main need to feed for the day. There will, of course, be the usual sloth and general over uselessness.

RealFish that’s awful no one thought to inform your dad. I do not blame you or him about not wantin’ to go back to that hospital again. If there’s any kind of patient satisfaction survey or such that can be accessed I would be most definitely be expressin’ my extreme displeasure.

Oopsie it was a wise decision to call off the event. The safety of the people involved must come first.

JtC actually I am inclined to give GG props for this one. Sounds like he’s found an excellent way to get nummies with almost no effort on his part. I would categorize that as kinda smart.

Everyone in the path of awful weather stay safe!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

May I suggest that you call daily and see if there have been any cancellations? You might get lucky.

I’ll pass this on to my daughter. I know she’s overwhelmed, but a little walking every few days could do them both a lot of good. And the kids would love it.

If you and swampy can testify, I can surely believe it! Did you find your diet had any affects? Even before this, I worried about their eating habits, but that might just be maternal/grandmaternal tendencies.

Been hearing a lot of rumbling outside - I’m hoping it’s thunder and not artillery… :open_mouth: But like several others have mentioned, we’ve got high-wind warnings today, plus predicted rain and crap. Needless to say, the Easter Egg hunt at the fairgrounds ain’t gonna happen for my grands - possibly not for anyone. I was going to go with Daughter, but I’m glad she decided last night to opt out. Not sure what FCD will want to do today - I just heard him in the shower.

On the good news front, American Standard is sending us terlit innards - they’re due to arrive on Weds, so yay for that. Hoping for more good news eventually, but it’s still early.

May we all have a Saturday worthy of our needs!
