[OLD] Have As Good A New Monday MMP As Possible

Better!

Lunch was good and enough that we won’t be wanting supper. We’ll nosh later, I guess. FCD is snoozing and I just finished this:

Adorable! Soon to delight a MerryLande grandkidlet?

And thanks for the dental tip. I did call the office about cancellations in the morning. All they had was the “emergency after hours” phone number for ‘established patients of record’. He has been my dentist for 35 years-is that ‘of record’ enough? Called it twice in the past four hours. No response yet. Must mean I’m not ‘established’ enough. Only a bachelors degree, own my own home but it’s a humble one, divorced so thoroughly discardable. Pain does strange things to my mind.

Happy Saturday! I got a slow, lazy start to the day. I’m having hot dogs and Kraft mac n’ cheese for lunch like I’m five years old, and procrastinating with video games instead of doing the classwork I need to get done.

Frayed knot! The number 9 is of weird personal resonance to me for a variety of reasons, and the specific “Ninth Acolyte” is from a comic book script I tinkered with in high school - the youngest monk of a pacifist, isolationist order. The story kicked off when the young monk’s evening prayers are interrupted by the arrival of the venerable old abbot… Through his chamber window, bloodied and dying, dressed as a superhero. Think the Big-Name Heavy of the setting, a Superman analogue. The abbot passes the superpowers on to the acolyte before expiring. Hence the plot! The young acolyte is well aware that the peaceful, contemplative existence of an order like his is only possible because there were people like the superhero out there keeping the world safe from evil. Does he keep his vows and never use the power he’s been given? Does he reveal the abbot’s identity and tell the world where it’s hero went? And so on.

Hear ye, hear ye! Let it be known! I have completed a minor amount of pre-work adulting:

  • Monkey has a clean litter box
  • Brought in my lemon tree, before being reminded thankyouverymuch
  • Made an appointment for my next Blessed Day Off to get my taxes done
  • Submitted a maintenance request about some siding that came loose - it’s on the exterior so doesn’t exactly affect me directly, but I figured it was a nice gesture towards my landlady & her property

I would like my sticker & lollipop now, please.

It’s Saturday, hun, they may simply not be open today.

Stoppit. Stop that nonsense, right now!

Adorbs (I think that’s how the kids these days say it). Is it stuffed with something?

Okay, time to put on warmer pants & start gearing up for this groovy “work” thing. (Oh, looky, a half-killed joint!)

Closing shift is another Ladies Night tonight, so it should be fairly smooth.

Contrary to the stereotype, the chicks don’t bring the drama. I swear, every internal negative event since I’ve been there was started/instigated/escalated by a dude.

(Burn the patriarchy!)

Oops. I meant that I had called them Friday morning asking about possible cancellations (my original call was Thursday morning). They had none (they close at noon on Fridays), all she could offer was the ‘after hours night and weekends’ emergency number for the on-call dentist. That’s the one that hasn’t responded after 5 hours and 2 calls.

This is the faculty practice at our flagship state university Dental College. You’d hope they would be setting a better example than this.

It wouldn’t hurt to mention this to the regular office staff, once you are able to be seen.

They can’t fix a problem they don’t know about, so if you tell 'em, “Hey this so-called ‘On Call’ guy, um … isn’t” they can at least address the issue.

Sorry you’re in pain; that does suck very mightily.

a 3 day cruise would be better than a 3 hr cruise. You never know what might happen on a 3 hr cruise.
JtC mentioned: “hope you (BBB) aren’t storing her stuff for the rest of your life” This has probably been addressed but I’d be tempted to sell it to recoup what is owed to you. (now I see Bumba and I had the same idea; and even further that it’s crap and not worth selling) I wonder if any of the things she said to you about her move were the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

This is why Hubs mandated when we were looking for a house that it must have central air. He, his Mom, his sisters and all their children including our daughter have pollen allergies quite bad and a lot of other allergies as well as some degree of asthsma.

No, but this sounds delicious; will have to try it.

have a word for you: table; end table, coffee table, tv table, name your fav table

flyboy I’m happy that your Aunt’s memorial was very good for you and extended family!

Nine now I understand your frigid weather; daughter lived in Fargo for 2 years.

I used to like this for lunch and sometimes breakfast but about 10ish years ago, I became aware of Trail Butter. It’s a company out of the PNW, not sure if OR or WA, and make a number of different kinds of Nut Butters. mostly made out of almond butter and flavored with very yummy ingredients: Dark Chocolate & Coffee, Maple Syrup & Sea Salt, Original Trail Mix, Salted Brownie Peanut, Ginger Snap and my very favorite, Spiced Chai. So, I now make toast with one of my jars of Trail Mix nut butter and sliced banana. Now I’m hungry!

Thank you!!

Hi Swampy, I think you might have me mixed up with TruePisces aka RealFish. I’m KittenMitten aka CatGlove.

Ok, I’ve read about 114 posts. I left off at 111 last night and now I’m up to post 225 with 81 more to go. Signing off for now so I can go to the Fitness Center and get my PT workout in. Then I’ll watch the Final Four tonight. Take care All.

Awww darn, the across the corner neighbors just cut down their lilac bush. It was quite big and healthy. It made seeing coming traffic at the corner difficult, but I hate to see it go. Dunno why, as it gave a lot of privacy to their yard and house.

The fish has returned home. Barely moving, $350 poorer thanks to my grocery shopping but at least stocked for a day or two. OK, maybe a little longer. But I do have two teenagers. I did get a lot of staples and a lot of things that shouldn’t go bad, like jars of pasta sauce. Hubby usually does the shopping because he does the cooking, but we didn’t think his foot would be up for it. So, of course, I bought several things that weren’t the right brand/ too much/ not enough. I didn’t get a lot above my (admittedly long) shopping list, in part because the cart was far fuller than I’ve ever pushed it. I am tarr’d.

Two things of note happened that made me think today was not the sunshine and rainbows I was hoping for. First, I was trying to get a bottle of soda from the tip shelf behind the little wire holder. I am short and have difficulty getting the bottles down from there. Of course, there was no one around to help me so I was having to try myself. 3 of 4 bottles I was able to bring down without incident. The fourth one, however, slipped from my hand, hurtled toward the ground, hit at just the right angle to knock off the top and shot upward like a rocket. The bottle landed on top of the beer cooler. There was soda everywhere and I felt ashamed for making such a mess.

Then, as I was trying to empty my overfull cart, I dropped a can. My stuff back meant that I was bending slowly and, when I came back up, I smacked my head on the handle bar of the cart. The cashier said she felt it when my head hit.

There are some good things though. Both kids helped empty the van when I got home. And CtE put away a very large portion of what was brought in. And they (CtE) aren’t upset about me not getting them to get a haircut. Now I’m just going to kick back, have a gummy and rest for the rest of the day.

I second this. I think you mean me. :smirk:

Speaking of the van, I found another quirk that is saying something ain’t right. Even though it acts like it’s in park or neutral when in those gears, the car doesn’t recognize it. I can’t open any of the doors automatically when the car is on. So Monday, I’ll probably be bringing it back to them. Because I’m so over it.

Howdy everyone. Have read most. First I want to tell Boo that I feel for her. I would call the. Emergency number if it were me. You need medicine.

Wordy sorry for the latest medical news. Hugs to you both.

FCM Here’s hoping SIL feels better soonest.

Wet One. Congrats on the new car. I has a jealous.

Happy Anniversary Cookie and the Mrs.

Metal Mouse I get so scared with your water leaks. For the first time in over 30 years I’m in a ground level home and even though my knees appreciate it I do worry about leaks.

Sari. I hope Ripple does good. I know they are using the prednisone as a chemo drug. I gave it to Louie when he had his mast cell diagnosis.

JtC. Pomegranates are my favorite fruit. I want a tree.

In gardening news we are growing lots of food. I replanted some tomato seeds that didn’t sprout. We now have potatoes and zucchini and yellow squash planted. Corn and okra are coming up as are the sugar daddy peas and lots of tiny green beans on the bushes. My container tomatoes are doing great and I even have some turning red. I need to make a comprehensive list of everything I am trying to grow lest I forget what I got.

Other than farming my life is boring as hell. I am a lazy sloth.

All youse getting bad weather be safe. I would pay for some rain as my lawn is crispy. I am willing to water the vegetables but the grass not so much. We are in a moderate drought. I need and want rain dammit.

I did have one yellow iris bloom that my sister sent me the bulbs for. They are not getting much water either.

Tomorrow is Sunday and I am going to force myself to call all my siblings. I haven’t talked to them in a long time and even though the phone works both ways I guess I’ll bite the bullet and call them.

Happy and healthy Saturday everyone.

ETA. I am getting my sense of smell back. Still certain things I cannot smell but I am thrilled it may be coming back. Also, I only owed $130 to the IRS and $325 for tax prep. The bastards still haven’t sent me my 12 grand check or a letter telling me why not. I hates them I do.

Afternoon all. Refereed wto U12 games (girls at 8:30am and boys at 1:00pm) and coached my 10U girls at 11am (we lost 0-3). So far I have had 2 Hostess cupcakes, a Mountain Dew and 4 tiny boxes of raisins. Adding some Diet Pepsi to that, but will require real nourishment soon. Games all went well but it was very windy today, so the 80F temperature didn’t feel too bad. Am now sitting down with no major plans to get back up (except for dinner).

Cat Glove, I have a tray table, but being me I’d probably knock things off of it easier than having them sit next to me on the sectional. Thinking I should have gone with the sofa/loveseat/recliner combination again, but such is life.

BBBoo, keep up harrying them; you should not have to suffer in pain one second longer than necessary.

Shoe, enjoy the closing. And look at you go!!

Niner, interesting concept on the comic. Ever going to advance it farther?

FCM,that’s a nice knitting.

cookie, whenever you celebrate it, enjoy your anniversary.

So, it was an adult novel???

True Fish, can’t remember who MFN is, hope things work out. Hope Dad’s move goes to plan (whatever it is).

Oopsie, wish somebody was there to record you, would love to hear your singing.

OK all, take care, I feel some nappage coming on. Catch all y’all later.

No, it’s for a fundraiser for Daughter’s school in 3 weeks. As is this one:
Imgur

Yes - the souls of the discontented… :stuck_out_tongue:
OK, polyester fiberfill, but same-same, right?

Thanks, but it’s crocheted.

I’ve been remiss - Happy Cookieversary!!!

OK, off to find something else to crochet.

And my daughter just pointed out that I forgot to give the princess hair. Dammit. She’ll have black braids shortly…

MFN stands for “My Friend N”. He’s the one friend I mention fairly regularly, so I needed to come up with an acronym for him. I was kinda tired of typing out “My friend”. As for things working out, I hope so too. Personally, I’m hoping he makes some calls and we go to a shop Wednesday because he’ll have a chance to rest before hand (he overnight valet at a local hotel), but regardless of when, I told him I’m there when he needs me.

As for Dad, I haven’t heard anything one way or t’other from him, so I’m trying to maintain hope.

Howdy Y’all! We went to the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet and stuffded ourselves. Natch this required nappage. The < snerk > BUTT! < snerk > is done and will soon get shreded. Tea is also made. It’s been a rainy afternoon and warmish so day drinkin’ on the back porch was also accomplished.

Cookie Happy Anniversary!

WetOne hope you enjoyed the fancy luncheon. You know it’s fancy when it’s called a luncheon.

MOOOOOOM cool stuff. Hope it all fetches lots of moolah for daughter’s school.

Everyone else, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Now, princess with hair -

Now to try another pattern.

Survived a day at irk.

Up to Sunny Minneapolis where it was 28F in a clear sky with what looked like 2-3 feet of snow on the ground out in the country and everything clean, if not quite dry, in the city. Very pretty.

After a quick refuel & reload we were off to DFW with the next batch of victims. Where it’s also clear, sunny, and 77F here in the late afternoon approaching sunset. WTF? That ain’t right; 50F is more like seasonal.

But the best part is I went by Boo’s house. Just 40 miles east of her and 7 miles above. It was too hazy to see if her car was in the driveway but I waved anyhow. Given her toothache poor {{Boo}} I figured she was home trying to nap, not out partying.

Time for chow & bed, then back at the salt mines tomorrow early again. Good to hear most of you are having a decent weekend with fewer tornadoes and, as far as I can tell, no volcanoes. Yet.

With the correct prescription in hand, I went to Visionworks to pick out frames. Due to my myopia I throw myself on to the mercy of the people at the store. Many years of wearing glasses has given me a good idea of shape and size, so I gather a bunch of frames, and the person at the store will render an opinion.

For some reason there were quite a few people in the store. Odd that. I hand over the ‘script and go to picking out frames. I find about 7 of them.

3 were eliminated right off, leaving 4. The salesperson picked out a few more. Those were eliminated and we were down to 3. Much calculating happened, and the 3 came in at just a tad over my glasses budget! Woot!

Lunch at ikea and home.

Quick jaunts to the dry cleaner, pharmacy, and corner store. Back home.

Turns out the 2 bookcase thingys fit just where I thought they would! That rarely happens. My celebratory hogwarts trunk fits on top and the swing top of the desk clears! Double woot!

Now we are in the midst of a thunderstorm in philly. We had a quick one this morning that had a very rude thunderclap at 7:30 am, now we are at 7pm. Kinda bookendy.

Video, or it didn’t happen!

{{{Boo}}}

Believe me, there’s a very large party of me that wishes there was video. I only heard the bottle flying. I couldn’t turn towards it fast enough to see it!
