[OLD] Have As Good A New Monday MMP As Possible

You’re right about BtY being Boy the Younger. CtE is Child the Elder. My eldest is non-binary so I’ve found CtE to be the best, most supportive acronym. :slightly_smiling_face:

real fish, kids like CtE and my favorite Belmont girl do give me hope for the future.

With your username, may I humbly suggest a betta? They’re surprisingly personable, and they want to interact with you. Easy care, many lovely colors. They’re good listeners, too, although they aren’t known for giving great advice.

I had one in a big vase on my desk, way back when I worked an office job. Fish-fish would do a little “feed me!” dance as soon as the lights flipped on in the morning when we all trundled in. Cheered everyone up, and I mean that.

On my occasional days off, my co-workers (good-naturedly) fought over who got to feed Fish-fish in my absence.

Bettas. 11/10 highly recommend. (Unless, like me now, you have an idiot cat. Then … maybe not.)

No idiot cats anymore (mine would have LOVED having a fish around… as dinner), but unfortunately BtY runs around the apartment like a Tasmanian Devil, knocking things to the floor everywhere. It’s give the betta 3 months tops before BtY knocks the bowl to the ground and blames the fish.

Our a/c is ready for summer, so yay! Soup was yum, but then, I do make good soups. I need to get some weed killer for my veggie patch - the stinky weeds are out of control. I did a little research and apparently I have to wait 3-4 days after applying weed killer to plant veggies. A bit more research to see what will kill those damned weeds, short of a flamethrower (and even that might not do it…)

But that’s for another day. Chillage for now.

Don’t blame me!

So SSLAW #1 didn’t work at all, #2 was on and off, the 3G belt(that takes processed bags bag to the 300 sort, which is where the unprocessed work comes off the trailers :face_with_raised_eyebrow:) shut down twice, Yellow Belt(which takes stuff from the 300 sort to Smalls: hums “Circle of Life”) kept jamming, and overloaded because of the previously listed chaos. Plus there were 3 Pacakge Cars on 300 North Boxline that had 2 loads listed on them, bust the notes said only load 1. Except we were supposed to load both. On a personal note, roomie’s starter died, and Carmen’s ignition lock is jammed. $$$ and no working cars today.

I like stupid details.

That would be me.

I’d prefer a plague of ARRRRRRRRR!s, since I like rum and pillaging. :pirate_flag:

Quality theater!

Soon(although I always seem to adopt the one that needs therapy )

Makes sense, and reminds me of Pliny the Elder

In the Beginning, Monday was created. This has made a lot of people very angry, and has widely been regarded as a bad move. -paraphrasing Douglas Admas.

Evening all. Took a long nap instead of swimming today, did get me well-rested for soccer coaching but probably need to make it up sometime. Practice went well, 7 out of 10 girls made it and we had a good time. Next practice is Thursday and then we have our first game Saturday (no fooling).

Sunny, sadly, Eric Flint passed away in July 2022 so we seem to be stuck in perpetuity in 1637. Still, there’s a lot of words out there.

FCM, talkie, never been much of a drinker, a beer or two was enough for me. Was nice working for the Arab countries for many years since drinking is prohibited for all good Muslims. Now the Greeks and ouzo… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Welcome, NinthAcolyte. Hope you stick around for awhile.

Real Fish, red, sorry about the tragic news in Tennessee.

Pilot, Herald, I usually check Weather Underground for forecasts both here and in other places and they usually have been pretty close.

OK, need to do the evening internettin’ and then off to bed. All y’all take care.

It seems a bunch of folks are having bad sleep recently. Last night my restless legs kicked for hours which was really unexpected because it hasn’t happened for months. Then I had really weird dreams and woke up happy to be retired because I would have had to call in sick if I was still working.

Waves back happily!

Will see you all there.

Good boy, Ripple! (getting stitches out doesn’t hurt) I hope you never have to go through this again.

Poor Echo, what a disappointment!

Sad about the park drama. People are why we can’t have nice things :frowning:

I haven’t used this one, it was the first one listed when I searched.

No doubt!

My car is 5 years old and has the original battery. Car batteries don’t do well with the extreme heat, so I’m expecting we are going to be facing that issue fairly soon as well.

Batteries have been getting better, though. Time was that I’d get a couple of years out of a 5 year battery, then have to take it back and buy a new one at an adjusted price.

It was beautiful today, the sky was clear and it was almost 65F. We opened the windows that had intact screens in the afternoon because we had to and GG stretched out on the windowsill to have a good snooze with the breeze flowing through his fur. The screen guy is supposed to be here in a couple of weeks, I am really looking forward to having screen doors made for the french doors, I’ve wanted them ever since we moved in here.

Hubs bottled beer yesterday and moved the mead out of the closet to move from the fermenting jug to a bucket with a spigot and then settle for another week before bottling that. It will be kinda raw and bitey when Diablo IV is fully released, but it will still do the job.

That won’t clear up any room because he works in 5 gallon batches and the empty buckets need to be stored. Grumbles.

My BFF came over after work and she is super happy because tomorrow is the last day she will be working at the food stamp office in town. She is finally able to WFH and has her office all set up including pretty curtains, a comfy office chair and a rug for her cat to sleep on.

She had to get Starlink, she is out in the sticks even by my standards, and that was her only option. The equipment charge was a non-refundable 600 bucks and she doesn’t own it, she has to turn it back in if she wins the lottery and quits her job. The state is only giving her 50 a month to help pay her 300 dollar a month internet bill, so many grumbles there as well.

Still worth it, she won’t have to make that 45 minute drive to the office every morning or pay for take out lunch every day. I’m really happy for her.

I gave her a bag of dried barley (After hubs is done cooking his beer, I run the spent grain through the dehydrator to give to the yard flock.) for her yard flock which only further convinced her of my earth goddess status.

Posting via phone, Xfinity conked out earlier today, ETA on service is tomorrow morning.

I’m going to have two highly annoyed cats tomorrow. They have appointments for checkups and shots, plus Buddy getting chipped. They have separate appointments, Allie at 10, Buddy at 3:30.

One of my nightmares has happened.

My charging cord tip broke off in my iPad. Only a bit of charge left. My life is on that iPad and interacting with the world via it. Meaning with all of you.

I’m quietly hysterical. I’ll take it to a repair shop first thing tomorrow to see if the shard can be extricated. Keep a good thought for me. If you’ll don’t hear from me for a few days this is why.

I’m typing this on my phone but I can’t do that much for several reasons. Fat fingers and poor eyesight being the least of them

Since my traumatic brain injury my iPad has been my cognitive wheelchair. I’m beside myself. I guess this is a lesson learned: don’t use aftermarket charging cables.

Eeeek!

We love you. I love you. Please do your best to at least wave hello when you can’t be online. We worry.

Howdy all. Been gardening. Now have thriving green beans, cherry tomatoes, a cabbage, lettuce and just planted corn, peas, sunflowers, bell peppers, spinach, watermelons, basil and okra. I also have marigolds and more tomatoes of several varieties germinating soon I hope.

Hot as can be. Getting to 90F each day. Though on Wed and Thursday this week we are supposed to only get into the low 80’s for two days. Moderate drought. No rain at all in months.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Assuming I can get the key to turn.

Check in when you can

: waves back :
Looks like a good garden, Butters

I thought I saw an unfamiliar name … then I scrolled on and my “lobotomized goldfish” memory kicked in, so I forgot to say, “Hi!”

Don’t make me angry; you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry. :fire: :fire:

That is such a tranquil image.

Holy socks, Batman! That’s insane-o-pants.

Now it’s our turn to hold YOU (and your iPad) in the light.

Hopefully they can help you, and possibly sell you a better charger cord!

Woman, you’ve been GARDENING that’s an impressive roster!

I haz a jealous. I rent, and at my current home … well, I’ve rehabilitated the ground to the point where the bare patches are finally at least supporting local weeds.

Note to gardeners or potential gardeners: if weeds won’t even grow in a certain area … you can bet your booty that tomatoes won’t, either.

Went to bed early-ish, so I’m up at absolutely-stoopit-o’clock (it’s currently 6:30 a.m. why are there people already driving? honking at each other, right by my door?) so imma snuggle with The Monks and have a snack, then toddle on back to bed.

Morning, all! It’s currently 55F/13C here in Nashville and this little fish wishes she could go back to sleep. But I’ve got a full day ahead

My dad is in the sticks as well and runs into the same problem, though he’s long or of the working game so he doesn’t need the sustained internet. He’s got more people moving into the area, which is a good and bad thing: he misses his solitude but if it means getting faster internet up there instead of having to rely on satellite internet he’ll take it.

Speaking of growing tomatoes, a couple of eons ago when we were living in FL, I saw a 'mater plant growing in a bag of composted cow manure! They’d just cut an X in the side of the bag and put the plant in. It seemed perfectly happy.

I ordered a weed killer and it’s ready for pickup at Lowe’s. It’s supposed to be safe for use in veggie gardens and it gets good reviews, so we shall see. I’ll ask FCD to grab it for me today and I’ll get it applied in the next day or so. Then I need to get shopping for some veggie plants.

I don’t know if I’d mentioned - FCD was recruited by the local Naval Aviation Museum to make a couple of mounting blocks. Well, today, he’s going down there to install them. And while in the neighborhood, he’ll be delivering some leftover bean soup to his mom. She sent some spuds and onions home with him yesterday - she had some, then bought some, so she had too many. I now have a metric butt-ton of onions, but I’m good with that - I like onions (cooked, at least.)

A question for those more computer-savvy than I - my desktop keeps dropping the connection to the router. Plus for some stoopit reason, it will only connect wirelessly, even tho I’ve got a cable from the router to the tower. Does that suggest a bad card in its guts? Or perhaps is there some sort of maintenance program I can run? It can be frustrating, even tho it just disconnects for a few seconds at a time.

And in keeping with the theme of this thread, hope you have a Tuesday that doesn’t suck too much!!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 45 degrees and dark outside. The expected high temp is 58, and the day will start with mostly cloudy skies, move on to partly cloudy and then close out with mostly cloudy. Of course, we could see some sun too. We’re supposed to see temps around 60 degrees tomorrow, so I may get outside and get that lawn mowed after I sign off work.

Yesterday was an in-office day. It was 31 degrees and frosty when I left. Until the temps stay consistently in the 40s overnight, I don’t plan on putting anything in the ground. I usually only grow flowers. The only vegetable I produce is a single tomato plant that I keep potted. I don’t have room for a veggie garden.

I have read all but retained little. I did notice I didn’t see a post from nellie. I hope she’s okay.

I have nothing interesting to report. The day will consist of work, work, and more work. I would like it if things would slow down a little bit.

Welp, need to finish the coffee, tidy the kitchen and face the day.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 71 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted. A good day to be inside and dry even if it means do laundry day. Be still my beatin’ heart! Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy. The usual sloth and general overall uselessness shall prevail.

I felt somewhat ick yestiddy afternoon. Not exactly sick, so I guess ick is the best description. Today is better thus far. I have gone back and read stuff, but comprehension is nil this mornin’, so, yays, boos, hugs, noogies, chitlins, trouts and how you doin’s all around as needed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy, Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Grrrr. Arg. I’d replied a bunch more, trying to edit this and, when it wouldn’t let me, THOUGHT I’d copied it to paste in a new reply. Didn’t happen. Don’t have the time to recreate it since I need to get my day started. Here’s the short and dirty recap.

{{{BBB}}}

Shoe I wish I could go back to sleep too.

Have to get both kids to school, then my annual physical in which I’m hoping my doctor has a replacement for the Rybelsus that caused me to lose 60 pounds, and, since I still have about 70 to go and dirty and exercise some haven’t helped, had another idea. Then I’m off to my favorite library branch that has been closed for 3 weeks for HVAC repair. Now I need to get my smaller-than-it-was-but-still-too-big butt in gear and out the door.
