(OLD) Hey! It's The May-Day MMP!

Same when I moved MI>/TX then TX>MI.

{{{shoe}}} those were not the kind of shenanigens that I was hoping you’d get into. Please take care of yourself…and monkey.

Washed about 2/3 of the dishes then got ready to go about the day.
When I arrived at the Marian Shrine at church, there was no one there. I checked my Iphone and the Rosary Rally isn’t until next week. So I just prayed by myself. Then met up with coworker and got that task completed. Walked home and mowed the backyard. Have been chilling since. Made BLT’s for dinner.

My friend left a mid-century slat coffee table, just like the one we had when I was a kid, when I bought the house in 2003. I used it until 2010 or so, when SWMBO moved in. She had her own coffee table, and the slat table was put outside. It held empty flower pots, ends of 2x4s, and whatever. The Missus decided it was a good potting table for transferring her plants. Now that the greenhouse erection has been completed, she went to put the table into it. It’s rotting, and of no use. She put it into the fire pit.

I checked eBay, and was shocked to see some of them listed for $1,000 or more. Others, on and off eBay, are listed for $500 or more. I wish I had known. I wouldn’t have neglected the one we had.

I suspect this is about changing their existing DL from the pre-“Real ID” era to a fully “Real ID” compatible DL.

you can get ss cards online now takes between 1-2 weeks to get them do yourself a favor tho when you sign up and use the login.gov password code setup because if you lose your password it takes 2 weeks to get a new one and login.gov calls you with a code to put in every time …

this is the past week it was supposed to be funny (ha!) I mean sunny and warm starting yesterday or so they said back on Tuesday now it’s not going to warm up until this Friday supposedly

you’re not buying the right rotgut vodka then lol

oooh that’s one of the few things I miss about Indiana/michigan …tulip season …

The Bishop is coming! The Bishop is coming! Thus I made an Eyetalian cream cheese sheet cake and a corn casserole for first Sunday brunch tomorrow. OYKW is tasked with bringing ‘em to the church house as I must be there early to do pre-worship stuff such as herd acolytes and so forth. Thus it is in swampland.

So TPTB say freight volume is down, but we had triple the boxes to stack for Monday. Thank you for shopping, and to the owner of the pellet gun,You’ll shoot your eye out.
I had lunch at Bojangles, bought meats at Aldi, the went to Ancillary Fermentation for a beer. It’s a taproom in an old bank, and they had to drill through an 18 inch thick concrete wall to turn the vault into a cooler. I napped, I laundered, I had a mint julep, and watched the Derby. Spot crawled up in my lap, looked into my face…and promptly sneezed into my mustache.
And as far as the coronation goes:

{{{{shoe}}}}

She needed red shoes? HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! :champagne:

[Old coot]With kids therese days, how can you tell?[/Old coot]

I appreciate your advice and concern about our floors Pilot and Rat, but this isn’t our first rodeo. Wifey has been in real estate for over 40 years, and I worked construction in a previous life. We’ll take care of it, and still be money ahead.

The GirlChild loves playing with my electric lawnmower, so she mowed the lawn today. I followed along behind with the (battery powered) weedeater. So I’m making a big pot of 5 bean ‘chili’ 'cause she expressed a craving. It’s smelling good in here.

It’s blowing up a storm here.

Time to go stir the pot.

flyboy Holy farts, that sucks about the table going to waste.

I tried mowage, go the riding stuff done, the push mower wouldn’t keep going. Can’t do the corners or around the raised bed. It’d start and then cut out. I think I need to clean the carb. Not being a motor person this intimidates me. Gimme wood and I’ll do great, engines…no clue. So I made do with the weed eater. I must say, who ever it was who decided to make these things cordless and run on an existing battery platform was a genius.

swampy This cream cheese sheet cake intrigues me. I’m hoping for some giant cheesecake kind of thing. Darn it, can’t find a good Monty Python “It’s the Bishop”

We (I) had no idea. Maybe I’ll disassemble it and see if I can make a new one. (Said the guy who can do framing adequately, but has no experience with furniture.)

Leftover taco stuff today. Mrs. L.A. wanted a tortilla fried in oil instead of two steamed tortillas, so I made here a taco dorado. She just wanted the tortilla warmed up in a pan with a little oil. She said, ‘That’s OK. I’ll have a double-fried taco!’ She finished off the refried black beans, and I had two Carb Balance burritos (taco meat, sour cream, Rotel’s salsa, lettuce, shredded cheddar). And margaritas.

My parents bought a place for my grandmother and at some point my aunt moved in as well. Then my cousin. And they both smoke.

It fell on me to redo the place and I think your approach would have been quicker.

The inlaws go back to Taiwan today. Yesterday, because I had classes I did the 2 1/2 hour trek back home from Sapporo by myself and today I’ll go and pick everyone up, then off to the airport then back home. Maybe six hours on the road today.

Got to get showered then take off.

Happy Saturday!

Nice morning at the park. It was 40 degrees, but we sat in the sun so it was nice.
Echo was feeling a little more energetic this morning.
She is still a little weird though.
My son always takes her down to the park ahead of me. Lucy dad was right behind him.
Echo got excited with Lucy dad, he is her favorite person, but she still won’t walk with him. She waits by the gate for me.
I don’t know if she feels insecure without Ripple, or if now that Ripple isn’t here to stay by me, she feels like she has to.
Who knows what goes on in a dog’s mind.

I still have my original social security card, the one that was typed on a typewriter. I keep it with my birth certificate and baptismal records. I have my son’s card with his birth certificate, baptismal record, his selective service paper work, and his original vaccination records.

I need to pay the bills today. I’m not sure if I needed to, but I transferred some money from savings to checking. That will give me a bit of a buffer if I need it. I want to pay everything so I don’t have to think about it for the rest of the month.
I’m afraid to look at my credit card bills.
And I have two doctor bills, I think one was already paid, and I have a bill from the IRS.

I need to order groceries to pick up tomorrow and wash some clothes. The laundry is piling up again.
It’s so hard to get motivated.

It’s a small thing, but it hits hard when the mail comes and no Ripple to get it for me.
Echo will sniff the mail, but she will never pick it up and bring it to me. It’s not in her to do that.

Adam jumped up on the windowsill. I had no idea he could get his fat ass up there. He looked in the window, but when my son went over and moved the curtain, Adam looked confused.

Oh gosh a bunch of fire trucks just pulled up in front of the house and my son says there is smoke in the back yard.
Got to go check it out.

Yard two doors down with the tent and firepit in the backyard. Looks like the fire pit got out of control.
One of the firemen went behind my house and saw the cut-up tree trunk that is still back there. I’ll probably get a notice or something.
I already paid the lawn guy to get rid of it, I guess I’ll end up paying somebody else to take it. Six people said they wanted it, but nobody ever comes to get it.
I don’t know what happened to him, but everybody whose yard he used to mow has other people mowing their lawns now.
I suspect he may have fallen off the wagon after his wife died.

Echo has found her voice, she made sure the fireman who walked past our fence knew she was there.

Congrats on new house Bumba.

I hope to be in that position soon, if the damned estate ever gets settled.

I knew Molly was a dog.

I hope you feel better soon Shoe

Happy Anniversary Hippie

Happy Retirement Anniversary WetOne

Today is Cerby’s birthday

Happy missing out on mowing day, Swampy

Looking spiffy, FlyBoy

What a tragic story JtC

I didn’t get laundry done because the sink is backed up. My son is irking on it.
Truth is though, I’m f’ing lazy, so it probably wouldn’t have gotten done anyway.

Still trying to name the puppy. My son is probably right, we should wait until we see him.
I don’t want another Adam situation though. It took so long to find a name for him that he still answers to Cat Cat.
Poor RIpple was Puppy Puppy for a while.
My friend wants me to name him Don Wrinkles. I think not.
I’ve rejected all the cutsie Chinese names, Won Ton, Bamboo, Chopsticks, Dumpling.
I looked up one translation and no, he will not be named Long Wang.
I look through lists of names. I already know one of those, I know three of those. A friend had a horse, cat, cow, pig, goat, bird named that.

Past my bedtime and I am tired

I could see someone convincing someone else that’s a great name and not telling them what it means until they find out from someone who either gets offended or highly amused …

It’s true we’ll be getting Real IDs; that may or may not have something to do with all the hoops. But I dunno. The choices were simply either “new” or “renewal,” and when you choose “new” it lists all the stuff you need to bring in.
I’ve never heard of transferring a DL from one state to another. When we moved from Illinois to California we had to start from scratch as well - even had to take the written test.

G’d ev’nin, Mumpers! (Don’t ask. I’m feeling a bit silly tonight.)

Today was a nicely relaxing day, for the most part. Hubby and the kids got the van packed with the recycling that we needed to drop off, then we all headed out. The line for the convenience center was a bit longer than I’ve ever seen it. But we did eventually get in and able to drop all of the stuff we had into the appropriate recycling locations. Then off to the library, where I found out that the book I thought I’d been waiting on for Thursday’s book club was not, in fact, the wrong book club book. I got the correct book and I’m ready to start reading it.

We did go to Hermitage House Smorgasbord for lunch. It was good southern fair, and I was actually a better me than I usually am. Before I even got any pulled pork and potatoes, I got myself a salad. And I found I wasn’t hungry for dessert. Which isn’t like me, and I’m surprised didn’t have Hubby reaching for the holy water.

Free Comic Book Day was… more low key than I think I’ve ever seen it. In years past, one of the local comic shops would do everything up big - getting some known names, offering incentives for buying things, discounts on various comics. They also regularly had extra FCBD comics from years past that they’d put out for people to grab up if they missed it the first time around. This year, there wasn’t any real sense of spectacle with it. They used to put the free comics on a table and everyone was allowed to take 5 max of that year’s free comics. This time, they were in comic racks on the inside wall of the store and we were allowed to take up to 10. We picked up a Sonic comic for CtE, a blind bag for BtY and a Neil Gaiman illustrated book for Hubby. Nothing that wasn’t way too expensive caught my attention this year. So we brought ourselves home for some relaxing ourselves.

I got several uninterrupted Porch hours today. I finished one of the books for one of my book clubs and started on the one that I got today. The book club next week is one reread for me, so it won’t take long to get through, and the Project Lit book isn’t due for a couple weeks. As long as I have waiting time, I will have reading time to finish everything!

Tomorrow, I’m driving up to help MFN with some truck things (primarily getting the tired replaced,) and a trip for more edibles. Not sure if we’re going to be making it to the Meet Up. It’s going to depend on how much we feel slothy.

I am doing my absolute best. So far, it’s continued to stay away and the world is hanging fine.

That is definitely all over the place dream. I wish I remembered last night’s dream. I don’t expect there were any black bears or the 1970s, but I do suspect that it was probably slightly convoluted.

Thanks for the prayers for CtE, Cat Glove. They’ve seemed to be in a decent mood today, but then again, weekends usually are. And not forcing things about the future on them at the moment is probably a good thing. But I do need to talk to Hubby about the hospital possibilities so I know where he stands on it.

And a truer statement was ever spoken that can apply to so many different things!

That is true enough. I have let them know that they’ve got several people they haven’t met that are sending the best vibes their way. They blushed a little.

Well, Vandy’s always doing studies if you want to drive up this way…

shoe, I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better. I’m sorry last night was such a rough one. I hope tonight is easy enough that you don’t over do it. {{{shoe}}}

Have a great night, all! I’ll talk to you on the morrow.

Hi, y’all. Exhausting day/night of travel. Just wanted to say hi and let y’all know that I (and my mom) made it safely to Pennsylvania for graduation this morning. Tomorrow we’ll head back to my home in Minnesota, where mom’ll stay with me for a week before she flies back to California.

Graduation was nice, it was cool to meet classmates I’ve only seen online. Here’s a couple pictures - I was actually really surprised at how ok I was with them, I usually don’t like how I look in hats.

Probably won’t be around much until Monday. Hope everyone’s doing ok!

You look so…scholarly!

Good job and enjoy your mom.

Evening all. Did manage to accomplish mowage, then came in and pasta’ed my way through dinner, and pretty much has been sloth-time since then, catching up with my You Tube channels. Headed over to the Golden Corral tomorrow, try to hit the ‘sweet spot’ time when they have the lunch stuff out but still have some of the breakfast staples available (Pot roast and bacon–best of both worlds). We’ll see.

Niner, great pics and I bet Mom is very proud of you…as well she should be.

Real Fish, used to visit the comic book store here but haven’t been in years, just lost interest. Hope BtY and CtE found some good stuff.

Sari, no idea what to name the pup, hopefully something will come once you meet him.

Sensei, hope all the travels went according to plan.

swampy, happy Bishop fete-ing time tomorrow.

FCM, now I really want to see that video…

OK, it’s nearing 10pm and I’ve had (for me) a pretty active day, so bedtime beckons. All y’all take care.

When I moved from Oregon to California in 1994, so far as I recall I only had to pay a fee and surrender my Oregon license to get one issued by California. I might have had to pass a vision check, but I don’t remember. I’m pretty sure I did not have to take either the written or the drive test.

nines Nice hat, and congrats!!

sari Meet the pup, he will let you know his name.

I read forward and saw that you were able to get around having the physical cards this time, which is very good. You are still going to need them sometime, so you should probably get them now before you really need them.

When you get your shiny new licenses, do remember that if you look like your DL picture…you should probably stay home and go back to bed.

Tapioca pudding is practically health food! It’s eggs and milk and sugar, which is a vegetable and vanilla which comes from beans.

Everyone was blown away by your whirlwind romance, right?

You have my sympathy, I have worked with one of those. Be sure to buy the GOOD chocolate, the cheap stuff just won’t work.

I’ve put together a couple of stuff bags (large needles, magnetic needle holders, needle threaders, small pointy scissors, etc.) and converted some pics of Unicorns and Pegasuses to grids to take to the valley tomorrow. I’ll let her pick her own colors and hopefully her older sister will sit down and just stop thinking for a while too.

There will be a Catholic Mass on Tuesday and then the Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday. Dean was an atheist and his widow is agnostic, but her family is Catholic and death ceremonies are for the living, so if she wants a Catholic funeral mass, that is what she will have and the church will be packed full of respectful folks who will stand and kneel when everyone else does.

Isn’t it great?

Retirement is magical.

I know you don’t have insurance, but can you maybe see a doc in the box for some anti-biotics? We worry, yanno.

Beautiful tulips, I really wish they grew out here.

Fingers crossed as well. Once the wind gets something loose, it keeps worrying at it until everything is involved.

We paid a whole bunch of money to have screen doors made for the french doors. What do you think was the first thing our jerkface did? He stood up and clawed the screen right at eye level for me. I’m not going to bother having him declawed, I’m going to have all of his feets cut off, the little jerk.

Wow, he trusts you enough to tell you that he needs some antibiotics. Good job!

(I had wondered about the goopy eye in some of the pics. URIs are very common in rescue cats.)

You will be making outside furniture, you won’t be held to the inside furniture standard.

The small things can hit so hard in so many unexpected ways.

Today we went to the local craft fair and I was quietly sad about how Hubs just followed along while I was being hugged and called by name by everyone. Hubs doesn’t have many friends left and he isn’t trying to make more. He will be pretty alone if I go first and that makes me sad.

I’m doing the same thing I keep saying I will not do…bingeing on my mystery piece instead of taking my time and enjoying it. These things are just like getting a really good book, I just must keep going because I must know how it looks. I keep telling myself that I won’t do it again, but I always do.

I will be finished with this month’s pattern tomorrow and then I will be back to piece I am doing off a photograph. Frustrating and boring all at the same time.
