(Old) Imagine a world with no MMP!

So we got hit with extra volume from Back To School and the hurricane. Plus they shut down the small Morrisville Hub, and sent some of the Cary routes to us. I was in the Mez, which got bombarded, a combination of several of our big customers who put things like “Brian PO#123-cr-1l test ship” instead of the address they want it delivered to, requiring me to change it on every single box individually. Plus the people who put their email instead of their meatspace location. I’m not the freakin’ Enterprise Transporter Chief, I need a USPS formatted address if you want you cheap Chinese merch. And the Sort aisle wasn’t scanning things right, so I had to rescan a lot. And that stuff for Cary? Most of it scanned right, but all the Ground Saver/Surepost had to be manually reentered to get it to go. So I’m going in at 035 tomorrow, so the drivers have a tiny chance of leaving on time.
As far as sports arenas, I’ve been to BoA Stadium(NFL Panthers), Phillips Arena(old Alanta Thrashers), TheESA RBC Center PNC Center Lenovo Center(NHL Hurricanes), Bojangles Coliseum(AHL Checkers), Fayetteville Coliseum(SPHL FireAntz) and the Durham Athletic Park and Durham Bulls Athletic Park(AAA baseball Bulls)

Nothing wrong with a little PT for the brain.

Also excuse any typos or weird spacing, somebody has their anus on my wireless mouse right now.

Makes it fun for the both of us!

I was a Vikings fan in the 70s, but the game just became tedious to me. I was a big Celtics fan during the Bird era; a great team with heart. Then they faded and those legends went away. I was a Supersonics fan when they won their championship in the late 70s. And I was a fan of the Trailblazers when we lived in Portland. But pro sports has become entangled with sports betting, and to watch basketball games with any regularity costs more money to stream than I care to spend. Also, the bullshit mid-season “mini-playoffs” is an obvious money grab, so screw all of them. I really liked going to the Thorns soccer games in Portland. The players had grit, skill and determination and fought for equality for women in pro sports. There is a local team here in MSP (the Aurora) which is playing to sold out audiences. We may start trying to go.

Looks like we’re getting close to paving the road through our area. I saw what looked like an asphalt paver down there this morning.

Cooler weather today and the humidity has dropped dramatically, so yay for us!

Never attribute to luck something that was the result of deliberate skill. You picked that address and the land probably had something to do with it.
Dear Old Dad always said “Buy adjacent to land that can’t be developed. And be sure it can’t.” The one time I failed to heed that advice I was promptly made sorry. Never again.

I realized after the edit window ended that I’d been ambiguous. I wasn’t there in person; I was sitting in a bar near home and the Savannah Bananas were on the TV. I don’t know what channel. First I’d ever heard of them, but their outfits are fun to watch. Good luck catching them on Max.

As to my day … Three loads of laundry done & stowed: clothes, bath towels, & sheets. The other two categories (whites and beach towels) aren’t full enough yet; give it a couple more days. Breakfast was good; country fried steak w sausage gravy & 2 eggs over easy. Housekeepers did their thing and now all is spic and span. Got in another cycle of sunbathing; it’s not quite a nap, but Zenly restful.

Thinking to launch off for HH & early-ish dinner shortly.

Unless it was the manager’s direction??

I hate when that happens…

When my inlaws built their house in Ocala, their back yard looked over a cow pasture. Shortly before they moved (23 years later), their back yard looked at a 6’ privacy fence put in by the developers who put a gajillion houses in that cow pasture.

We went out for Chinese for supper and we’ve got enough left over for lunch tomorrow. I’ve just had a hankerin’ for the last few days and didn’t feel like cooking, so win!! We had a bit of rain and now the sun is out. Tomorrow is supposed to be cool and overcast - I may or may not take Tobias to the playground. We’ll see.

The rest of tonight is for crocheting and maybe some Department Q on Netflix. We’re both kinda draggy, so maybe an early night for both of us.

There’s no way to know, but there’s nothing to lose…right? Nothing’s going to get worse for 52, and if the manager doesn’t already know they should be told. (IMHO)

So was I. I lived in Boston during those glorious years and enjoyed many a game in the old Boston Garden. Now?…meh.

She’s decided that perching on the arm of the couch is the right spot to be. It is right behind me as I sit at the computer. And see all those dog toys to the left? She fished them out of dearly departed Cin’s toy box and is making much squeaking.

Pro arenas and fields, I’ve been to Fenway (of course), Yankee stadium..the new one, Nat’s Park, whatever they were calling the Bills stadium in like 2015, the old Padre’s park/Charger’s stadium ca 1997, old Boston Garden for both Celtics and Bruins games, and Camden Yard.

As all of you know, I live in Nebraska, The state religion is Husker Football. I have never been to a game. I always say I would need two tickets: one for me and one for the guy holding a gun to my head to make me go into that stadium

I do have to admit that over the years I have made some money from betting Husker games. There was a string of years that The Huskers could not seem to beat Oklahoma, and if they somehow managed it, they couldn’t cover the spread.

I am no sports fan but I am a bit of a gambler…

I love people who will bet with their heart as a fan rather than someone who can calculate the odds. My high school football team was terrible. They won maybe five games in the whole four years I went there. The fans kept betting. I just collected every monday morning. I wasn’t really all that popular in high school…

Howdy Y’all! Mowage and the procurement of provisions were accomplished. I actually finished mowage just before ten a.m. Go Me! I showed restraint and didn’t have a beerverage until after I showered. What? I waited until ten-thirty. OYKW made BLTs and oven fries for lunch. Nappage then occurred. A little while ago I had a PBJ with strawberry jelly because I felt peckish.

I am sure I have mentioned before that I grew up a hour(ish) southwest of Etlanner when the stadium where the Braves and the Falcons played was downtown just off I75/85. A group of us would go to Braves games a few times a year and get cheap seats tickets for three bucks. Game attendance was pretty low back then cause the Braves sucked so bad! We would get waved down to better seats so “crowd “ shots could be taken. I have been to a few Falcons games at that stadium and at the old Jawja Dome. All that was years ago. The Braves park is not even in Etlanner anymore. The Falcons play at Mercedes Benz Stadium in downtown. I used to go to Athens for UGA home games but haven’t done that in years. Nowadays my fandomness (is to a word, I just made it up!) is limited to my Dawgs. WOOF!WOOF!WOOF!

Went to the Phillies game today. Office event. Found out the mariners with celebrate home runs with a trident. The Phillies have a large bell that tolls for home runs and winning games.

it was a cloudy, cool day with a mist every now and again. The game was rather eventful with solid base hits, stolen bases, and home runs.

Roxy looks wonderful in her school outfit! I hope she has a wonderful school year.

They’ve both grown up so much! I wish Roxie a wonderful school year.

I used to go to Vanderbilt games as well as Cumberland University (Ohio Valley Conference) games on a regular basis. They played some good baseball.

Moooooom, have you considered using fruit and toothpicks for construction projects with Tobias? I usually set that up with apple chunks dredged in lemon juice for the Sunday Assembly kids and they tended to eat as much as they built.

Gotta kill the squeaky!

That’s your sport.

Got the wifi connected today, got the money order from the post office, stopped by Texas Art Asylum to look around and hit King Dollar for a terlet brush. Sis made red beans and rice with a cuke salad for supper and it was good.

Two more days before move in!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I napped. Spot napped separately. Dinner was a martini, and chicken, broccoli, and cavatappi with alfredo-ish sauce.

 :100:

I remember that some days back you were wondering if you’d change her name. I just showed her couch arm perch picture to my dog obsessed 8 year old grand daughter and asked her what a good name for her would be.

Harriet grinned big at the picture and said: “Rosie!!”. With two !!, not just one.

And a good late night all. Missed the usual afternoon news report so will cover everything in the late night final…and for me, it was eat, internet, bank, gym, soccer stuff, dinner and internet for the balance of the day. Usually I fix a Cheeburger for dinner today but was all out so ended up eating a large stack of pancakes with syrup and six strips of bacon because that’s what I felt like eating tonight. Soccer pretty much got rained out, but it did cool things down a bit so sleepage will hopefully be easy.

18 messages to run through before I can drift off to Slumberland so here I go…

Sensei, sounds like SenGirl is a good merchandiser. And SenBoy can use those work muscles for working his sailboat, so a win-win there (at least that is what I would tell him…).

FCM, charming picture and Roxy looks so grown-up!

Oopsie, glad you enjoy baseball, I used too (still watch the on-going Little League World Series when I’m at the gym), and as for English Football, I’ve been to Arsenal (the old stadium), West Ham, Tottenham, Newcastle, and Chelsea and have Manchester United on my to-do list someday.

doggio, sounds like Situation (Ab)Normal at work.

Pilot, I admit I did like being on a cul-de-sac but didn’t know if the land was going to be developed or not…there was a big sign at the end of the road indicating it would be but it’s been over 25 years and nothing new there. The house is what sold me, the floor plan was just so perfect for what I had in mind that I didn’t even bother to look at any more places and i still think I made a great choice. And the Savannah Bananas have been appearing on ESPN (gym time again) now and then.

VanGo, that’s an awesome picture and she’s a real sweetie…

Hippie. never been a sports bettor, but i like your way of thinking about it.

rocky, glad you had fun at the game, but who won??

red, sounds like progress is being made.

And that’s all for the day, will cogitate some more on the more difficult (at least to me) parts of the Sunday NY Times crossword and try to get some more spaces filled in, then off to dreams dreams I will not remember and hope the backache is a fading memory. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Evenin’ all! Did NOT end up going on a walk today. Would say it was weather but…nah, I was just too lazy to get off my bum. Will do it tomorrow though, for real this time, I promise. It’s supposed to be the same nice weather it was today, thank heavens.

Lovely pictures FCM!

School starting for the kids already, that’s crazy to think about. Felt like summer just started. Ah well, isn’t my problem, I’m all done with that bullhonkey now. Just means less kids comin’ into the coffee shop during weekdays. I prefer that honestly, it can get pretty loud if enough of them are there at once.

Okay, so Thursday, Mr. Rilch and his “boss” on the campaign were on the radio today. He brought Izzy, because it’s an American Experience, and when they all walked in, the host said, “Hi, [boss’s name]; this must be [Mr. Rilch], and WHO’S THE HOT BABE?!!” Augh. When I was 17, I would have been mortified. Izzy says she’s okay with it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s secretly thinking, “So it’s true what I’ve heard about American men: women are to be leered at.” Then again, that’s what many Americans think about Italian men. Oh, and on the air, he mentioned that “these two gentlemen are here with a beyooooootiful Italian exchange student.” Well, what the heck; she’s probably in for a lot of that.

Anyway, in the morning, Izzy will be off to her first day of school. School starts relatively early. She has to be at the bus stop earlier than that. And according to her, she’ll need at least an hour to get ready. Not sure what that means: a full workout and shower, a long makeup/hair session, or both? Speaking of which, I saw her layout of haircare and skincare products, and all the packaging is either pink, black, white, or some combination thereof. No other colors, so it’s like an art installation. Hey, maybe when I get going on this art experiment, I’ll ask her if I can do a still life!

=========================

Our cats have been outside 24/7 for the last three weeks or so. This will continue until the weather cools off. They seem more comfortable, and we’re saving on kitty litter.

Does anyone here play on Sporcle.com? If so, are you in any tournaments? I’m currently riding high in the Simpsons tournament. Not so much in the crossword tournaments; I have all perfect scores, but some people are amazingly fast, not to say suspiciously so.

Good morning from this side of the pond.

Didn’t get enough sleep but my body said it was time to wake up.

More house fixxen today. One ceiling was harder than expected to pull down. It was a drop ceiling with wallboard fastened to a thin plywood layer fastened to pine boards.

It was proving difficult to dismantle slowly as the wallboard was attached too well.

So, we just cut it down. I was careful to not break the glass patio doors, and not have it come down on SenBoy’s or my head.

But not careful enough to keep it from hitting my thighs on the way down. I’ll have some huge bruises tomorrow for that silliness.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/56f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Each fucking cloud in the sky fucking hates you.” Really? I thought there were just floating around up there doing cloud stuff.

Moooom lovely pic of the grands, they look so grown up already.

School starts here on 1st September so that’s when the commute becomes quite horrible again. I still have three more days of peaceful commuting before the feral crotchgoblins ruin it. Next week is a public holiday here on Monday so I will have Tuesday and Wednesday working at home, and only two days on campus.

Welcome Week for our new students starts on 22nd September so that will be a busy one for us, the Union is planning some days that week for strike action, and I have three days of leave booked in. Fun times!"

I went to the pub with my friends last night, it was cool enough to sit out side for a while but we decamped indoors around 10pm as it was getting a little chilly. I even slept at home with the bedroom windows shut and only one fan running. Autumn’s coming, people!

Today should be a quiet day at irk, only three of us in the office and I only have one meeting in my calendar. It’s with my boss so that’ll be ok, we don’t have much to talk about so I expect half the conversation will be about our respective cats

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89, cloudy, and possible late afternoon rain. We will be bears who brunch at Newk’s. There may or may not be a ramble I want to go back to the really good produce stand, but we shall see. RDOS inactivities will take up the rest of the day.

Now I need more caffeine and suppose I should purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Thursday Y’all!
