{{{{doggio & Darci}}}}}. My brother’s bloodhound got loose and was gone for about 6 days before they caught him (think he had to get a animal control person to set a trap). If there is anything ( (we) can do. Hope it works out for both of you.
Home for now to watch You Tube vids and see if things are still working. Will head out to Longhorn for steak in about an hour, then maybe to the gym for some exercise, anything to keep busy while the blowers keep blowing. Those guys better be back early Moanday to pack up.
So the plan is: Monday is finish drying things out, Tuesday a guy comes in to do the drywall and baseboards, Thursday the carpet folks re-pad and re-stretch the carpet, and hopefully life will return to a modest resemblance of normal. The one good thing is that the water leak is repaired, been checking the meter twice daily and since I’ve been out of the house most of the time for the last 36 hours, there is no record of any water being used, so yeah for that.
Pilot, glad that Mrs. Pilot is doing better.
swampy, glad you’re feeling better.
boo fae, sounds like a lot of fun was had. be well.
I was skimming through this thread late last night to see what’s up and enjoying the stories and pics of Darci, then suddenly found she was gone! Got me all teary-eyed, and I’m sending my very best good-luck wishes to doggio for her quick and safe return. Now that will be reason for a major celebration!!
It’s currently 50 degrees and cloudy. The expected high is 55 and rain will move in this evening.
doggio, I hope you find Darci. Keeping my fingers crossed.
FCM, so glad the sale was a success.
Pretty car, peedin!
I read everything but retained little. I have severe brain fog. Yesterday was very, very, very rough. By noon, I decided to go back to bed. Within half an hour, I was wearing a path in the carpet from the bed to the bathroom, which kept up until 3:00 am this morning. Jesus wept. I haven’t felt that poorly in a long time. And, because I had nothing in my tummy, most of it was dry heaves. Somehow the pillows felt like rocks and were giving me a headache too. So weird. I feel completely wrung out today, and I’m still debating canceling the trip. If there isn’t a noticeable improvement by noon, I’m calling the SD and canceling.
Okay, I need to keep hydrating. I feel very dehydrated.
Glad to be of service. And what a payoff! That is a sweet color for a sweet ride. Looks even better in the sunshine if the Toyotas around here are to be believed.
Considering the … aahh … adult recreational connotations, perhaps not. Lest that cause too many awkward conversations with strangers at traffic lights.
Shame they didn’t think to set the bloodhounds on his trail. “Set a thief to catch a thief” and all that. Would’ve found him a lot sooner.
A wise decision to be sure. Damn shame it’s needed, but when you’re debilitated, you’re debilitated. Here’s hoping for speedy recovery once they’ve removed you from the need for the trip.
The late Nelly K. Beagle was missing for 6 months, and turned up on the other side of the city. I put up a bunch of flyers around the neighborhood, anyways.
True enough. I haven’t had to work retail in many, many years but I really don’t think they would have gotten any more reliable over the years!
BooFae, it sounds like last night was a lot of fun! I love live music, and it’s even better when you know the band.
Well, I need them when I’m learning with DuoLingo or they say I’m wrong. So it’s kind of self preservation.
I don’t remember for sure from then, though I do know that the service station/gas station Dad has was an Arco station. I always wanted to help pump the gas, but I wasn’t trusted with it at 7 or 8 years old…
pilot, I’m glad that Her Ladyship is feeling better. Not like you wouldn’t anyway, but definitely pamper her a bit more until she’s back to 100%.
That would be useful, I think. I was surprised that there weren’t more people that brought clothing or items to be sewn up/repaired. One of the things on my list for bringing the next time (if we have a next time) is BtY’s giant Kirby that’s coming apart at the seems. I CAN sew it, but I always seem to have so many other things that it’s just sitting here.
And yep, we definitely are great minds!
WetOne, that is a sweet car! Very nice.
Or just the right kind of conversations depending on what you’re looking for. (Yes, I’d be one that would do it just to see what conversations and comments I get. Especially here in Tennessee.)
metal mouse, it sounds like you’ve got the week pretty well planned for getting back to normal. I’m glad that the water is staying where it belongs!
Poor taters! Definitely keep hydrating and rest as much as you can. I hope you get feeling better sooner rather than later!
Now I should probably try to be productive. Planner to fill out, game posts to write, trying to figure out how to get everything done with the least amount of stress, Dad to call. But I’m still planning on reading time. I’ve got too many books that are waiting for me to ignore them completely!
For the good of the order: the new COVID booster is approved and on the market. We’ve got an appointment to get ours next week sometime. We’ve been religious about getting these vaccinations and have not had a hint of illness throughout the entire time.
Up almost two whole hours before I hafta be back at irk, although I’ve “wasted” almost 20 min of it already surfing the Dope, pottying, and snuggling the Monkey.
Tummy is rumbly, and tho I have eggs and bacon here, I donwanna deal with dishes and such.
The nearby affordable diner is closed Sundays, and the two brunch places are stoopit expensive. Le Sigh. Woe is me.
I may have to cook my own eggs after all, like some peasant.
For all my supposed prowess at artsy fartsy cross-stitch, my real-life practical sewing skills start & end at “sewing on a button.”
Hell, I have a pair of pants I just got (off Amazon, so couldn’t try them on 1st) that are soooooo cute but way too long, so I’m looking at paying a seamstress to hem them up for me. (Not sure if that’s even possible, given how stretchy the fabric is.)
They’re [70s style disco pants](SOLY HUX Women’s Floral Boho Elastic High Waisted Leggings Flare Leg Bell Bottom Long Wide Leg Pants Trousers https://a.co/d/0fbkKGB) and no doubt meant to be worn with platform heels, but I wanted to wear 'em at work, dammit, and the hems dragged on the pepperoni-encrusted floor.
Still got a few compliments on 'em, though.
ETA: “wasted” over 30 minutes now, composing this post, getting distracted by Amazon, checking my upcoming order, remembering that thing I wanted to add to my cart …
Oh, those I have. But currently, work is back of house at a restaurant (pizza joint) so practical, no-slip flats rule the day.
I’d be laughed straight off my shift if I showed up in platforms!
ETA: went to let Monkey out - and he better not abuse the privilege! - and lo and behold, my package awaited me.
I’m not complaining about it being early (oh, no!) but Amazon usually informs you of delivery, and I don’t want that stuff sitting 1a.) in the sun and 2b.) where it’s visible and, ah, could sprout little wings & fly away.
If you like poached eggs I have a zero dishes zero fuss method that works great. I can prepare a hot nutritionally complete breakfast for one person from all raw ingredients in 4 minutes flat from entering the kitchen to first spoonful in face. Ask for details if you (or anyone) is interested.
You could do what the flight attendants do: wear your pair of super-cute tall shoes to/from work, and switch to flats to work. Our ladies wear the cute impractical shoes in the hotel, the terminal, and for boarding / deboarding, but switch to flats once we’re in motion for most work in the air. Admittedly that trick works better w a skirt than pants. Although some gals make that work with pants too.
Well, first we taped:
Then we painted:
The red will be painted black by the yard crew. Hope they’re not planning to do that tomorrow because we need one more coat of gray.
We also ran by Food Lion to get Cokes on sale for MIL, then we dropped them off at her place. On the way home, we swung into Aldi for bread. FCD is now napping and I’m about to assume the reading position in the recliner. And so I go!!!
I’m about to hit the road to go to Roch and start our installation. I’ve got the donwannas. I fear the boss on this gig is going to spend entirely too much time on the phone and not participating in the work.
Agree, those are fun pants! I looked at the Amazon details, they would be readily hemmable by a alterations shop. Depending on how much they are shortened by you might end up with slightly less of a bell-bottom effect. I sent a list to your message box. Don’t know which one of the 10 would be closest/most convenient to you. Little tip, launder then once or twice before taking them in so any shrinkage/changes will have occurred and have the shop person pin them up with you wearing the shoes you’ll be wearing with the pants.
I’m betting platform shoes wouldn’t be very comfortable for work, but that’s just me. I haven’t worn a shoe with any height since my wedding 50 years ago next month. Birkenstocks be me! I even have patent leather ones for festive occasions. Those pants would look wicked cute with the right Birks. Hippie chicks reign supreme!
I have had decent luck doing quick hems with fusible hem tape, like this:
Requires an iron and maybe a folded towel on top of the metal lid to your washing machine or dryer, but it’s easy and quick. Also cheap on Amazon. Sometimes you have to re-iron it after months of wear but it sure beats not being able to wear your hearts desire pants or skirt Right Now!
Or, we could meet in the middle, maybe in the kolache capital of Iowa, and have our own little Repair Cafe.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, got our McN.O.L., got back to da cave, et, and accomplished nappage. There’s turtle pie for later. I know y’all know what the non-animal turtles are, but I hope y’all get the giggle we get out of the idea of turtle pie. Also the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.
I only have about three minutes but popped in to get a Darci update. I’m WILLING her to return to you, doggio. Have you called the microchip company? You have to have the number from the microchip, which you can get from the shelter if you don’t already have it.
Also, post on your local nextdoor site. You’ll get better coverage than flyers give.
Gotta go. But don’t hate on me, country fans. I forgot to mention Willie Nelson on my list of country artists I can listen to. Maybe it’s only 97% I can’t abide. If it helps, think of it as a foible of mine. I have lots. Thanks for all the music recommendations, everyone! I’m going to have to expand my horizons.
Oh, I really have an intense dislike for contemporary Christian songs. I’m a Christian, so it’s not that. They’re just unbearably sappy, lyrics and music. And I’ve listened to a bunch because a thrift shop I frequented played only contemporary Christian songs. They make me queasy. I like to think it’s a sign Jesus doesn’t care for them either. I hear He’s into Black Sabbath, but only if it’s played at 78 RPM. He likes to see Himself.
Same here. But I generally go one other time per week because I like greenish 'nanners. Also to get items on sale that expire on Tuesday that we didn’t need on Friday or that I forgot on Friday. I’ll have to get a loaf of whole wheat bread before next Friday. Arm felt mildly better this morning but I still took 2 ibuprophen.
MetalMouse I didn’t watch the Grizzlies last night as I was in an SVU type of mindset and watched about 5 episodes. I don’t care for that one bully trashtalker; is his name Brooks? How did MY guys do: JJJ and X aka Jaren Jackson Jr and Xavier Tillman?
Pilot hoping your wife is well soonest. I echo need for electrolyte replacement. We generally keep Gatorade on hand.
As far as food poisoning goes, I’ve only had one extreme case of it and that was when I worked in San Antonio and made the unfortunate choice to have a Big Mac for lunch one day. I think the special sauce was bad and I stayed on the couch or near the porcelain throne for 1-1/2 days.
Seconded. Although Bella didn’t slip out; she chewed her way out when Daughter and/or SIL left the harness on twice after they returned from their walks.
The brunch location was great. I was considering a Breakfast Burrito: soft scrambled egg, common potatoes, peppers & onions, beef bacon, muenster, baby cheddar, avocado, house salsa, sour cream; but I can make something similar myself. So instead I had COLD SMOKED SALMON: cream cheese, pickled red onion, cucumber, fried caper, dill, on grilled sourdough toast. Delish! Was very good to see Hubs’ old bud and wife. We’ll see them again in August on our way to/through the UP on way to cottage rented on Green Bay.
Need to get to church for mass. Catch you all later; perhaps on the new MMP.
No version of this Earth can be good if it contains Patsy Cline. That is one “talent” that ought have been strangled at birth for the good of All Humanity.
She permitted me to bring her a bottle of water & one of apple juice from the fridge. Kinda like getting Spot out from under Doggio’s couch, getting her to accept that asking for and receiving help doesn’t mean she’s weak or worthless has been and still is an uphill effort. I say the same thing I say to my crew every workday: “This is a team sport.”
I went to the groc store (Pubic store for some of you) for a couple items of mine and she also asked me to get her some easy-to-eat stuff along the lines of the BRAT diet. We’re making progress on this “accepting help” thing.
