(OLD) It's Tax Time in the MMP!

Glad that the cortisone injections helped cat glove.

Glad that your wife is feeling better pilot.

nellie, most of the country music that I like is vintage. Even though I’ve lived in the Music City area for nearly three decades and am a musician, I haven’t listened to top 40 country for a long, long time. Contemporary Christian offends me more as a musician than it does as a heathen.

It looks like you had a good craft table going there Mooooooom.

Congrats on the new gig wheelie! I worked in the inventory field for many years. I had former roomates who worked for one of the big outfits for retail inventory and traveled constantly.

I hope that you find Darci soonest doggio. Hugs and skritches.

Pretty car wet one.

Had a good visit with Sis and BIL, but it’s good to have my apartment back. The first night, Nelson was a little a-hole. He would hop down from the bed, then sit on my side whining waking me up just as I was drifting off. ALL. FREAKING. NIGHT! The humans in our group headed into Nashville yesterday, hitting a funky little strip mall with vintage shops, the craft thrift store (Sis wanted to check this one out and they were having $ days) and a couple of honky-tonks, a cat cafe / adoption place. Then we headed to Lane Motor Museum to let BIL drool over the classics, on over to the west side to First UU for their plant / craft sale (Sis is an avid gardener), lunch at Kien Giang and a visit to the international market in that shopping area. It was enjoyable, but I’s tah-red!

About the time that I was dishing up Sunday dinner today, my neighbor (the dad from last year with the dogs Molly and Jim) came pounding on my door. His daughters had gone outside to play and disappeared. :open_mouth: All of us neighbors were out looking for them (I put Nelson on his leash and called the younger daughter’s name to come play with him). The LEOs were there when he got a text that their maternal grandmother had picked them up out of the parking lot and they were with her (the police had called the mom, so I’m assuming that that’s why she called). He was shaken to the core and Miss Ann put in another call to Nana (out in Colorado) to let her know that she may want to call him. I hope that it doesn’t send him into another breakdown.

My memorable experience with food poisoning was about 25 years ago. My company was having their holiday party at one of the nicer hotels in town and I had the chicken Kiev. I was talking on the big white phone for several days when I wasn’t sitting on it. So was everyone else who had had that dish. The company paid us for the days that we missed with a doctor’s note, given that it was a company function.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Only walked 0.46 miles today, and it cost me almost $140.

On the plus side I have two new pair of shorts, two loaves of Dave’s Killer Bread, three pesto salmon fillets, five or so pounds of bacon, 2½ pounds of Tillamook medium cheddar, and months’ worth of toilet paper and paper towels.

I keep checkin’ in for good news on the Darci front. Come home Darci!

Glad to see a number of sick folks are on the mend.

I love Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn. Contemporary country is mostly dreck, but I do love me some old style country music.

I think 99% of contemporary Christian music is sappy. Then again I am a grumpy old man.

Still no sign.

I did Nextdoor, PawBoost, and Facebook, plus the flyers. Amazing I’m all worried and out of sorts for a critter I only had for 72 hours. :dog:

[Southern Lady]Bless your heart.[/Southern Lady]

Come home Darci, come home!

Come home Darci; there’s food there! And Darci Daddy is worried sick over you.

Simple dinner of another turkey sandwich on board here, a gin Gimlet is going down nicely, and the Sun too is going down; just about tangent now with the western horizon. I can’t see it directly from my spot on the balcony but I can see it reflected in some buildings. The app on my phone says 6 minutes to sunset. The lighthouse has just begun to shine and the Sunday night live music across the street has just finished his break and is starting his next, probably last, set.

yeah the family back east has a rule that if it can be mostly made a home you cant order it so meals out tended to be extravagant affairs …the salmon would of been up my alley

Last chore of the day was to change our bedding and remove the electric blanket. And, of course, it’s supposed to drop into the 40s tonight…

Other than that, it’s been lazy since we got home. Lazy is good. Busy is for tomorrow.

ok we cant be friends anymore :stuck_out_tongue:

It seems I’ve struck a nerve here.

Darnit Darcy, get your furry butt home!

How many of us have been checking for news on a regular basis?

:person_raising_hand:

Yeah.

Happy Saturday!

I am way way way behind in reading.
I thought I could catch up today, but irk was busy.
Y’all have been very very busy
It’s been a bit of a messy week for me.

Nice morning at the park, 64 degrees. I’m glad I wore a heavy jacket because it started to get windy and chilly.
Poor Echo is not herself.
Barky and Humpy were there, usually Echo goes on the small dog side with Lucy dad, but she has been a bit clingy with me. She wanted to go back to the big dog side. Barky and Humpy got in her face barking at her and wanting to chase her, and she really went after them. She wasn’t playing, and it went beyond warning. I really thought there was going to be a fight.

Echo seems lost and lonely without Ripple, and a bit insecure too.
She started barking, something she seldom did. I didn’t even know what her bark sounded like. Now she is the watch dog, and she doesn’t seem to like it very much.
Ripple gave her confidence I think, she seems very unsure of herself now.

I am so sorry about Taz, FCM
Even when you know it’s coming, it is still a shock

Happy Belated Birthday, MetalMouse

And here we go again
I was too tired to finish last night

Happy Sunday!

Thanks to everybody for all the hugs and sympathy.
Even with Adam and Echo here, the house feels empty without Ripple.
He had a big heart and a big personality.
And Niner, you would not believe how much grief I got over that name LOL.
My son and several friends hated it.

It was 44 degrees at the park this morning.
It felt warmer than yesterday though.
Only a few of us there, so it was quiet.

We left the park, went to the car wash, and then to pick up groceries.
Echo wasn’t happy with the car wash. I sat inside the truck with her while my son washed the truck. The noise and water hitting the windows had her upset. I’m sure we have taken her before, and this is what I mean about her being insecure without Ripple. He was calm and confident and that was reassuring for her.

Somebody sent me a Hoya Heart plant, from da jungle. There was a note inside expressing sympathy, but no name. I chatted with da jungle and they told me the person blocked their name from being seen.
I don’t know who to thank. I thought it was one person at the park who asked for my address, but it wasn’t her. I should have known anyway, the note inside was not written the way she talks.
I suspect it may be from the breeder, but I’m not sure. I don’t want to embarrass myself by asking the wrong person again.

Happy Darci Day, Doggio
She is adorable!
And now I see she is missing. I hope you find her soon!

I had a dog disappear for almost a year.
Some bastard stole him. He had offered me money for Rusty and it’s like WTF dude, you don’t sell a dog. One night, about 3am I heard barking outside and Rusty was sitting by the gate. When I went to get him, I saw that bastard pulling up in his car and he took off when he saw me.
Poor Rusty had gone from 20 pounds to 45 pounds. He could barely get up the porch steps. I don’t know how far he had to walk to get home, but his paws were bloody.
Rusty was a very sweet dog, and very cute, he looked like Benji. Just a mutt though that a friend found in her barn with his mother and 8 siblings. Her family had just moved into the house the night before, and when she went into the barn the next morning, SURPRISE! Later in the morning they got a phone call saying their new dog’s name was Ginger.

Spot is very cute.

JtC, I’m sorry about your mom.

I’m glad you are okay Swampy
People are assholes.

This board is a bit assholish today, as well. The scrolling seems to be a bit screwed up.

Those are some interesting pants, Shoe
Although some of the colors were rather blinding I think.

I hope you feel better soon Taters

Nice car WetOne

It doesn’t matter how long you had her, it doesn’t take long to fall in love with a pup. And you worry.

I have been looking at getting a new puppy.
I checked the Shar Pei rescues and there is nothing suitable available.
There is a beautiful Shar Pei in AZ. The owner is getting a lot of grief because he has had the dog for five years, but his wife doesn’t like the dog and she went out a got a new puppy. Shar Pei doesn’t like the puppy, so of course it makes sense to get rid of a loving companion of 5 years for a new puppy.
Unfortunately, that is too far for me to get him and he has to be the only pet in the home.
There’s one in VA, the people are moving into an apartment and they can’t take him with them. He is 8 years old, and that is nearing the end of his lifespan, and no, I’m not doing that.
I found another, and they said he has lumps on his back that are Mast Cell Tumors and there is no way I am going through that again.
I’m leery of getting an adult Shar Pei. Shar Pei are known for being aggressive.
AFAICT, the breeder has 3 litters available on the AKC site, but she has not gotten back to me. She also has a litter listed on her website.
However, I know she is not very good at updating her info.
I’m ready to start looking. My son is not.
I’m not sure about Echo. She is still somewhat grieving, and I think Adam is as well. He was sleeping on the bed last night, and the only other time he has slept on the bed is after I got home from the hospital.
I don’t want to stress Echo if she isn’t ready, but on the other hand, I know she feels a bit lost and lonely.
Ripple loved puppies, and when I brought Echo home and plopped her down in front of him, you could see the joy in his face. His little ears came up and he smiled so big, he kept looking at me and then her like is this for real! He adored her, and she was very attached to him.
I’m not sure Echo will be as delighted with a puppy.

I know I missed a lot, I had almost 200 posts to read through.
I’m tired.

:person_raising_hand:

Yep. It makes me want to sing a Darci version of “Come Home, Perry” from Phineas and Ferb.

Darci, you know you are Doggio’s best friend
You’re more than just a passing trend
You’re like a treat from a candy store
Oh Darci, we love you more than the sun in the sky
We love you more than a pizza pie
We love yoi more than all the things mentioned before
Oh Darci, we’re feeling so down
You’ve never made us frown
With your soulful eyes and coat of brown

So come home, Darci
Come Home, Darci, come home.

Not perfect, but heartfelt.

I tried Dave’s Killer Bread for the first time tonight. Two slices have 240 kilocalories, 44 g carbohydrates ( :frowning:), 10 g dietary fibre, 10 g sugars, & 10 g protein. I made a sandwich with two slices of Black Forest ham, 2 slices of oven-roasted turkey, 1 slice of Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard. Baken-Ets on the side. It was good.

Evening all. Didn’t make it to the gym but did walk around the soccer fields and watched some games and also did a few laps at Wal-Mart, so did get a little exercise. At the hotel for the third and hopefully last night, dinner was chips, a Hershey bar, and Pepsi Zero, so I’ll start eating sensibly on Monday. Cooled off considerably here today, high was only 55F, the week ahead only has highs to about 70F, so the heat may go back on.

Pilot I’m no follower or fan of country music, but if you have any problems with June Carter Cash, then… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

red, sounds like a nice visit, even if Nelson didn’t think so.

Cat Glove, didn’t stick around for the end of the game.

FCM boat is looking good.

Hope so, but you know the best laid plans of mice and men…

Wet one, nice set of wheels.

And some overnight hugs for {{{Darci}}} and {{{Doggio}}}.

Take care all and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

For Butters:

“Why I outta!”

“This food is dry, and I am still waiting on my mouse-tini.”

{{{{sari and Echo}}}}

:heartbeat:

For all of us. Hello Spot! You sure are a good looking kitty. Tell your stoopid dawg to come home!

Just checking for news…

Just checking for Darci news.

And to share a little bit of spring. @purplehorseshoe

Yes, please, I am very interested!!

You are so sweet to do the research legwork for me! Thank you! I will look into who’s closest.

Hey, me too! Look at us, bein’ all responsible and stuff.

It can be difficult for some of us.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: this is why God invented earplugs.

… a partridge in a pear tree! :musical_note:

Awww, poor Echo. Animals feel loss, too; humans aren’t all speshul about that.

They clearly didn’t want to be thanked; they just wanted to do a nice thing.

Send gratitude out into the universe.

Nicely done.

Hey, look who emerged!

Oh, it’s beeeeeyoooootiful! :purple_heart: Thank you so much for sharing & thinking of me.

Well, I have a chicken cordon bleu (frozen, not homemade - don’t judge!) almost finished in the oven. A very Blessed Day Off for me tomorrow - I hope to make progress on the Great Drivers License Project of 2023 (main current sub-project: the Obtaining of the Naturalization) and possibly have a bit of fun downtime with a local friend.

Bonus points for sleeping in and/or taking a nap.
