(OLD) It's Tax Time in the MMP!

Happy Moonday!

It’s not so warm today, 59 degrees outside.
We skipped the park this morning because, well just because.
I had stuff to do, but I think it was a mistake not to go.
Well, that’s a lie.
It’s that if I go, then Barky/Humpy mom goes, and if she goes, everybody else goes onto the small dog side. Then it’s just me and her and that gets old.
She ended up not going today, so I wish I had.
It’s the bright spot in Ripple’s Day and I hate to deprive him of it.

It took us over two hours to get him to eat and take his pills this morning. He is turning up his nose at everything. Finally, I pulled out some sausage, which I know isn’t good for him, but it’s better than nothing. He was very happy until he discovered a pill buried in it. Then that was that, he refused to eat any more. My son made a pizza and we hid his final pill under the cheese.
I have tried what you suggested Taters, by hand feeding him to get him to take a few bites to stimulate his appetite. It usually works, but today he wasn’t having it. He snapped at me when I tried this morning.
It wasn’t that long ago that he was pigging down anything. He even ate the string from a slice of bologna, he jumped up and grabbed it as I was putting it in the trash. He threw it up later, so I know that’s not the problem. He tried to take a piece of cheese from Echo, a very dangerous move.

I think not taking him to the park was part of the problem. He gets mopey when we don’t go.

I filed for extensions for both of us today. The mailman picked them up at the door as I’ve been typing this. The company I used to file wanted $30 to send it electronically. WTF? That would have been $60 for both of us. I don’t think so.
AFAIC, the IRS can kiss my ass right now. I have more important stuff to deal with, and they can just wait their turn. I’ll pay the damn interest and I hope they choke on it and burn in hell.

I had a doctor’s appointment today. That was another irritation. Fortunately, it was changed to a televisit, and to an earlier time. Not having to go out made my life a little easier.
Although I considered that while I was out, I’d get Ripple a couple of hamburgers, since he still gets excited about them.

I’m still trying to catch up with y’all.

We try to keep our tax returns to under 50 bucks and have gotten pretty good at it, but it does mean that we sit down and look at everything halfway through the year to see if we have to readjust. Our personal taxes were filed last month.

GG Creamery taxes get filed quarterly so I filed that batch the end of last month. If I don’t get more customers, I might not file in June, you only have to file if you are going to owe money.

As long as it keeps him happy

Our Crabby Old Guy has actually put some weight back on which is really good to see.

Hopefully that will be the end of the expensive repairs for a while. You deserve a couple of months to take a breath!

That is very clever!

Thank goodness! I must confess I have been a little worried about that. (if you consider little to be fretting daily) I know that you will eventually be able to come up with your naturalization certificate and get everything sorted out. May I suggest that when you do have it in your hands, go right to the Recorder’s office and have it recorded. It only costs a few dollars and if you misplace this one, you can go back to the Recorder’s office and get a certified copy for a not much more.

I seem to remember you applied for food stamps in Texas? You have to prove citizenship to be eligible, so the TX food stamp department probably has a copy of your certificate. Maybe you could contact them and ask them to send you a copy? It won’t be nearly as good as having the original, but then you would have something to show TPTB.

I’m sure they got separated in the sorting room. Happens all the time.

How many voodoo dolls do you find laying around after they learn about prom?

We use a local lady who does a great job for not that much money. Someone we knew called Merry Maids to come and do for his mother on a regular basis and I almost chocked on my water when he said how much that was. After a while his mom started complaining that they didn’t clean as much as they made things look clean, so he got rid of them and hired a local lady who made his mother happy and didn’t charge as much.

What I am trying to say is check for local house cleaners and you might find that you already have enough money to afford one.

I wish you would take better care of yourself. You are giving so much, you are going to run yourself out pretty soon.

JtC preach it about local cleaners sistah! I cannot say enough good about ours. Well maybe I don’t sing her praises far and wide cause I don’t want her to get too popular locally.

I always worry about that too, LOL!

JtC, I used frozen asparagus in the quiche and it didn’t get watery like fresh usually does. Your St. Bernard’s haircuts had me giggling.

Moooooom, I only filed two weeks ago and my return came today. Glad Taz is improving.

wheelie, the capitol of Kentucky is indeed pronounced Frank-fort. The city of Louisville tends to be pronounced Lou-a-vul three hours south of there.

Irked, called another local vet and I will be going in to tour the facility Thursday. Where Nelson’s current vet wants ~$900 for his teeth cleaning, they want a check-up for $50 (very reasonable and understandable, even though he just had a physical) and at his age, health and weight, $320 for the teeth cleaning. That’s totally doable. Shoot, I had budgeted $500 from my tax refund for that, and it looks like I may have enough left over for a new pair of sneakers for me.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up from naptime, waiting to see if I get called in for extra hours(since I gotta pay fr Darci’s treatments). I dreamed I was in a infinite Nebraska like land, pursued by homicidal rednecks. The Children of the Corn would have been a relief from the banality of fighting off endless psycho farmers with my good chef’s knife in a stolen 72 Cadillac.

SO ARE WE.

That’s what happens when you’re a fish, and not a former feral cat.
who is currently hiding in the non-Euclidian nightmare that is my roommate’s bedroom.

My 6th Grade band building was a surplus Quonset Hut.

I was attacked by a very angry goose this morning. We walk five m/eight k every day, mostly outside around the perimeter of a mall not far from home. In bad weather we walk laps inside. It is nesting season here and the geese are very protective.

It was cold this morning so we walked indoors. As we left we saw a goose just standing in the parking lot. We have not seen any nests near any of the doors, but she was not happy. She hisses at me and I turned to give her a wide berth. She hissed again, mad a short run and then was airborne right at my head. I was able to elude her and she broke off the attack.

Needless to say it was startling.

They are real shrimp. We might eat at McDonalds and like it, our cats don’t get that sort of choice. (They are the same freeze dried shrimp backpackers use, just put in a different package that has pictures of kitties instead of trees and campfires.)

It sounds like you had quite the day, do you get paid for sitting on the tarmac?

Thank you, I will give it a try. I’m assuming you thawed the asparagus and dried it before adding it.

Good news on finding someone more reasonable for Nelson’s dental. You do realize that now that you have told everyone you will have money left over…you won’t. I thought you were old enough to know better!

He’s guarding you from the Hounds of Tindalos.

You need to start carrying food in your pocket. Hangry geese can be mean.

I’m back. Right eyes is closed, so please forgive errors. The good news is my retina is fine. Whew! I have iritis (inflammation of the colored part of the eye). I’ve had it before, but it’s never presented like this, so I had no clue. I have to bump the steroid drops way up and keep the right eye dilated, but no big deal. I’m very relieved.

The bummer is that the optometrist appointment to try to fit me with a different kind of contact lens, the appointment I waited 6 weeks for, got canceled because my eyes were dilated. And the next available opening isn’t until mid-September. I’m upset. It’s a very long time to wait.

red, I"m glad you got a better deal for Nelson’s chompers. $320 doesn’t sound like so much after you say $900 a few times.

SO true! And then who’s going to drive your son and get Ripple to his appointments? Also, we like you and want you well and happy.

Doggio and JtC, I told my daughter about “flying food,” and she’s adopting it. And doggio, is kitty going to stay Spot (sweet) or become Beaker (sweet and funny)? Also, I may have missed this, but did you get an estimate on the age?

FCM, that is so cool! I love that some original buildings are still there with signage.

MetalMouse, What took so long on the phone? Were the fence people on the fence or just hard to reach? Fingers crossed for plumbers tomorrow.

Wheelz, that sounds like a fun trip for Mrs. Wheelz (or anybody who’s not a teetotaler)!

Real Fish, do you think CtE’s tummy woes are the stomach flu or anxiety or both? Hope they feel better ASAP. Are they way behind on schoolwork, or do they stay on top of what they need to make up? Glad the path ahead for your dad looks smoother.

Quietly, I envy you your pup playtime, but ouch! Puppy teeth are sharp enough to skin a rhino (a very small rhino).

I could SO see myself doing this. Doesn’t help at all to know that, huh?

And since we’ve been talking about income tax and I talked about my vision, here’s a little gem from Tom Lehrer: "“On my income tax 1040 it says ‘Check this box if you are blind.’ I wanted to put a check mark about three inches away.”

I was bitten by a goose once, high on the inner-right thigh, as I went to see my girlfriend in Marina del Rey. Could’ve been bad.

I had two birria tacos (Carb Balance whole-wheat tortillas, lettuce, tomatoes, feta, and avocados) for dinner. They were good. I’m going to Trader Joe’s tomorrow. I hope they still have some.

Back when I was doing pet adoptions, we would usually have a pen full of cute as can be puppies. You cannot believe how many people wanted to put their toddlers in the pen with them. I was always left speechless when the parents got mad at us because we wouldn’t let them do it. Soft, tender toddler skin and sharp puppy teeth and nails just isn’t a very good combination.

I’m going to drive to Boise in a couple three months. Any suggestions for nice places to stop on the way?

Except Darci is a Sheppard, and is also likely to be hiding.

Roomie likes “Spot” since it’s a Star Trek reference. I would go for “Beeker” because of the squeaking, and because Data’s Spot was an orange tabby. We shall see. And he’s about 2.

Hubs and I vote for Beeker. We had a kitty named Spot, but that was a Cal Worthington reference.

Home from men’s night over to the church house . A smaller than usual group, but still fun. Shortly it shall be bedtime. All the sloth today has worn me out!

Mrs W arrived at her hotel early enough for some nappage before her mandatory dinner. She hates this sort of forced socializing so I’m glad she got the chance to chill beforehand.

Meanwhile, I have officially begun the Murphy bed project! Well, I unboxed it all. That was plenty for today.

The boxes:

This is gonna be fun. [/sarcasm]

Indeed not. But the grammar nerd in me had to laugh at this sentence:

Watch those dangling pronouns, people!

Maybe I’ll get “THUG LIFE” inked across my bicep.

Just kidding. (I don’t have visible biceps.)

"Mirror, mirror/
On the wall … "

This is the 1st I’ve ever heard of any such thing. Must investigate!

I meant to advice JtheC earlier, that I completely solved the problem by not putting

Summary

the devil’s wang

into my food.

I love this phrase!

I snortled. Well played.

Now I’m picturing some beleaguered marketing department going, “Mumper brand Freeze Dried Shrimp? What the hell … ??”

I went out for celebratory tacos, turned the wrong way, and found myself in front of my favorite chicken shack. Oh, gee whiz, darn! Got a thigh & roll, then continued on for my planned tacos - plus a side of beans. (Fartfest to follow.) The chicken & roll didn’t even make it home. Tacos were inhaled, then an epic nap followed.

Now I’m seriously considering eggs. And how soon I might go back to bed.

My god, I needed to eat and sleep.

ETA: ye gods, it’s STILL snowing !!!

Sadly enough, many folks do not know that this is one of any County Recorder’s main duties. They will record anything you bring them on paper or transmit electronically in the proper format (this mostly used for real estate offices), and give you a book and page number. Your recorded document will kept safe for as long as the County Recorders office exists.

Many Recorder offices allow you to look at and print your document from their webpage for free, but if you want a certified copy, you gotta go to them and pay for it. We had our DD214s and marriage certificate recorded and it cost less than 20 bucks and no bother at all except for going to the office a couple of times.

Can you show us what the finished bed will look like? Maybe point at a webpage? I’m really interested in this.

Hubs used to work in the Boilers/Cooling Towers field. My understanding is that once you switch in the spring to cooling towers, you can’t go back to boilers until the fall. Sorry for the possibly bad news.

One of Hubs’ friend’s’ mother was upset because she wants a huge pine tree taken out of her front yard but she thought she would have to plant another tree in its place so the friend called Hubs to ask me to call my contact in DPW. I did and no, no replacement tree needs to be planted. So, they’re happy and that ended well.

Good news on the car front. State Farm let me know that my deductible has been waived because the other party was deemed to be at fault. So, the collision shop has been given the ok to order the parts.

Took Hubs to PT. It’s his 2nd time with this Physical Therapist. I originally referred him after I went to this Physical Therapist 3 times for various issues. He’s the best!

I snerked at that too.

The finished product, if all goes to plan, will look like this:
