Perhaps I didn’t get the memo, but I always thought people dyed them with the shell still on.
Although I imagine technicolor egg salad would be a big hit with at least some non-squeamish people. I hope your granite is well-sealed or it may be technicolored soon too.
The vet’s office called shortly after my last post: they’d had a cancellation, and could see Bailey at 10:30 instead of 12:30. We just got back.
It seems that whatever is inside the wart (or whatever it is) on her leg has decided it wants out: the skin is broken at the top of it, and the insides have started poking through! The vet poked and prodded everything quite a bit, and thought maybe it was just a lipoma (fatty lump), but when she aspirated it, it bled – and she said that wasn’t typical for a lipoma. Whatever it is, it needs to be removed: she’ll be calling me on Monday or Tuesday to schedule the procedure (outpatient, local anesthesia, and staples vs stitches).
In the meantime, they put some antibiotic and anti-itch ointments over the thing and wrapped Bailey’s leg in large bandages to keep her from continuing to mess with it (the blue one is over the trouble spot):
I’m really hoping it can be removed next week and she’ll be healed enough for boarding by the 22nd (when I’m supposed to head up to NJ for my uncle’s funeral)…
Back from my errand run, Grocery, Lowes, TJ’s and the booze sto. I apparently slept wrong, and I’ve got a huge know under my left shoulder blade–hurts to breathe. Getting old sucks, but it’s better than the alternative.
Good Afternoon Y’all! Miss me? I have had some laptop issues plus been a busy bear yestiddy and today. In addition to all the churchy stuff (Good Friday service, and bein’ there yet again this mornin’ to help get stuff all set up for the big Easter celebration tomorrow), I’ve been busy preparin’ for tomorrow’s big Easter feast for eight people. Right now 'tis a chilly 57 Amurrkin out and rainy and tomorrow promises to be no better. Oh well, at least I am inside and dry.
I will catch up on the bazillion posts I have not read. For now though, yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around as needed.
Afternoon all. Been a fairly productive morning, I went to Home Depot and rented a carpet fan to help dry out some of the rug; of course, this is about 2 weeks late, so who knows what is growing in the carpet now, but I have spare bits left over when I had it installed so I guess I can replace it if necessary. Then went to the gym and got my 500 calories deducted and also sweated some in the sauna, so I don’t have to feel guilty about missing a workout tomorrow (since the gym is closed for Easter). Think I will have my Sunday restaurant dinner today instead of tomorrow, since it’s likely to be a bit crowded then. Meatloaf at the Metro Diner is on the menu, so yum.
Oopsie, lovely pic of Bailey and hope the issue can be resolved easily.
Sorry, but you do know, ale’s well that ends well…
talkie, glad you had a nice dinner…as for making local friends, there’s always Nextdoor…
shady, pilot, thanks for the info you provided shoe, I never knew the inside story, just that I’d get my damages taken care of sooner (fortunately (crosses fingers) I haven’t had an accident in 7-8 years, and nothing serious in more than 20.
OK, need to move the fan to another spot (it’s rather small and quite loud) and maybe watch some golf, so everybody take care.
arrator:
The SSLAWs broke! The buliding was short handed!

Somebody turned off the belt! The other belt cut off!

Narrator: *oohhhhhhhh..but it was raining…"
Speak for yourself, I’m a sprightly 52. Nifty aigs, though.
Oopsie, Baily is totes adorbs! < skritches >
You sound like an usher when the Pens are at the local arena.
The say knowing is half the battle…
Feel better, though.
Howdy Y’all! I have read up on today’s posts, but have decided I cannot keep up with all that was posted yestiddy. Plus I am very lazy and slothful. Well, not too slothful cause a lot of tomorrow’s big feast is all prepped. Matter of fact, the squish casserole, company smashed N.O.T. (decided on those rather than scalloped N.O.T.), and green beans are already cooked and will just need warmin’ up. Demonized aigs are also done. ‘Tis still rainy and ick out so we have decided to forego goin’ to the Easter Vigil to be held at the downtown Whiskypal church. All three local churches do this together and take turns hostin’ each year. I think maybe I’ll go ahead and bake the spiral cut ham in a little while just to get that out of the way as well. That way, outside of the rolls, everything will just need a heat up. How efficient is that! We supped upon steak, roasted spareguts, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.
Cat_Glove glad you weren’t hurt. Good on you for goin’ ahead with the insurance stuff. Hope you rested up today.
{{{Sari}}} I’m so sorry about Ripple.
Bailey Bailey is a beautiful doggie! Glad is seems like the thingy is not too serious.
Wordy glad you and the hubs had a nice dinner.
I haven’t looked at the local nextdoor in a long, long, time. Matter of fact I deleted it cause it was so inane.
Thank you to everyone who voiced support for me and my situation. It is VERY much appreciated! I love you all. red is right that I’m starting to feel a bit stiff and sore so I took an Ibuprophen and set a timer for 4 hrs so I can take another one.
Too much to do to clean out car, get ready for Easter and pack for trip with my Sister.
I took a shower this morning then accessed the website of the collision shop that my insurance company recommended last night but they’re not open today. Called a neighbor who owns a brake shop, also does tires, oil changes, etc for a recommendation. Checked that website and also closed. Called/texted the guy who is/was responsible for the fleet for our department. No answer. Called my BFF to see if she’d be home today so I could come over and chat and pick up 1-1/2 dz eggs. Then an 877 area code number showed up on my cell. Normally I don’t answer calls from numbers that I don’t know but something told me to answer it. It was the collision shop that State Farm had recommended. They were calling to set up an appointment. I got the first one on Monday at 9am. Kudos to State Farm for communicating with the shop! It is so good to have that concern off my mind.
My sister and I were supposed to leave at 9am on Monday morning so I had to call her to first tell her about the accident and ask if she would mind if we left a little later. She was supportive and amenable. Whew. Then prepared an Easter basket for BFF, went to the Fitness Center and worked out on 3 machines, never got to the leg press because a guy that I used to work with but he transferred departments called out to me. I didn’t recognize him at first because he looks 5-7 yrs younger. I told him it likely was because he’s no longer under the stress that he was in our department and that his new department agrees with him. While on the NuStep, guy in charge of the depts fleet called and first suggested a 3rd collision shop but when he heard that State Farm recommended the one that I’ve set the appt up with, he concurred that was the way to go. So, it was off to my BFF’s. Gave her the Easter basket; it wasn’t that big of a deal, just a Lindt dark chocolate bunny, half dz Reese’s tiny bunnies and a baggie of cashews. She was touched. She gave me eggs (from her chickens; had to add this clause so nobody thought they were chocolate eggs). She met with her surgeon on Thursday. He said that she needs surgery ASAP because if the injury starts to heal, it would be a much worse surgery and she could lose range of motion so it’s scheduled for this coming Thursday. She’s scared but she has a very good guy at UM (that’s the other school in the Mitten in the Big Ten; their Drs are world class). Then home for lunch and fertilizing the backyard lawn.
Mentally I was struggling a bit as I felt violated and a bit traumatized so had to keep telling myself that Adversity brings out Character. I cried for about 15-20 seconds in the shower. After speaking with the guys, my BFF and Sis and reading the posts from all of you, I’m in a much better headspace. Thank you all again, very helpful.
The claim dept said I just have to pay the deductible to the collision shop who will then invoice State Farm for the remainder. She said that they will likely go after the other driver for the deductible or part of the deductible since he was at fault then remit that to me.
oopsie Bailey looks very snugglable. Tell her I said Hi! and giving her a hug from long distance { }
Tuesday I bought the smallest spiral-cut ham that they had at Trader Joe’s. It was $18-something. So I’ll bake that tomorrow, along with all-rotten potatoes. (I think I’ll leave the skins on.)
Well - After a lazy morning and my standard breakfast at home, Her Ladyship drove us to one snooty groc store where I get my coffee beans, and then to the Publix where we get ordinary groceries.
A smaller store as Publix go and it was distinctly busy, but not mobbed. This was noon-ish and the store was full of stockers stocking (?!), and over the PA an announcement came of another truck out back. The tone of voice was sheer exasperation. The store’s closed on Sun & I assume they were getting two days worth of shipments today one. Plus all the holiday extra customers and buying picking apart their shelves. Such fun.
Found all our items & went home. Once they’re put away it was time for reading and an easy chair nap. She baked a pecan pie from scratch and prepped a bunch of tomorrow stuff. Now sort-of awake again, it’s approaching time for dinner. In my case leftover wurst, etc., from German a couple nights ago and she’ll finish her swanky meal from last night.
After that there shall be further sloth until bedtime. Plus some more Dopish pontificating on all and sundry. At least for me. She’ll find something useful that needs doing and do it.
IDK, most German humans that I know are bilingual.
real fish, United Grocery Outlet has a store in the 'Boro. It’s the place I go for much of the meat that I buy, TP, paper towels and snacky stuff. They do have limited produce, mostly decent quality, so it’s a once-a-month stock up place for me. I spent ~$35 today and got a bale of paper towels, a six pack of TP, 3 1# tubes of Jimmy Dean, a four slice pack of breakfast ham, a sack of pintos, a couple of bags of bagel chips and a bunch of snack nuts. Their fresh meat is better than Wally World and Aldi, but not as good as Kroger, Publix or the butcher shop.
shoe, pretty much what pilot posted on the no-fault. The biggest reason that I was aware of it is that when it was still each party’s insurance covers their own bills, my dad was in a fender bender when up at the cottage at Lake Ann. He was insured in Indiana w/o no fault and got stuck with the bill for his car.
It looks like Bailey is a real trooper with her wound oopsie. Skritches to the good girl.
I’m wrapping up this year’s edition of the family cookbook in the studio, but taking time out to surf with a small reddish dog snoring in my arms.
swampy, back when I was a choir kid at St. Robert’s, it felt like I spent the whole Easter weekend at church, from the foot washing service and stations of the cross on holy Thursday, to the chants (sans accompanyment) on Good Friday, to the Vigil on Holy Saturday to two masses on Easter Sunday. I know just how busy you are.
On top: Tonka’s urn (with his pawprint on terracotta on top, a plush chicken, a basket, a smoked-salmon box (that conveniently hides the power strip), the wireless router, and the nixie tube clock.
On the other shelves: Baskets of DVDs, ‘Angel cat’ statue, Harvey’s urn, Creamsickle’s urn, Mrs. L.A.'s ‘Snuffles’ figurines, and a Galileo thermometer.
Wifey just vacuumed, and already the cats (Looking at you, Abbey!) have carpet bits from the scratching post on the floor.
Evening all. Dined out for Easter at the Metro Diner and celebrated with a large piece of chocolate cake (hey, just because I’m on a diet doesn’t mean I can’t treat myself now and then…). Called Brother to wish them a Happy Easter, thought they were leaving for several weeks on Moanday, turns out it was Thorsday, but a nice call anyway. Water was on for about 15 minutes, enough time to wash the skillet and flush/refill the terlits, so hopefully things will continue to dry up. The fan is very loud but hopefully efficient.
doggio, It’s a wonder anything get shipped at all…your bosses name isn’t Murphy, is it?
Cat Glove, glad everything ended up working out; and kudos to the State Farm people for helping this close to a major holiday.
Pilot, around here Publix is the ‘snooty’ store, at least as prices are concerned. Kroger and Wal-Mart are more for us plebeians. I would note we have a Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s for the ‘high-falutin’ shoppers, but they are 20 miles from me so I seldom visit there.
Flyboy, that looks real nice and fits the space well.
OK, need to do some more internettin’ and let the dinner digest, so all y’all take care.
What a sweet looking dog, I hope it all turns out to be nothing.
I always miss you!
I’m also noticing that I haven’t heard from @Seanette for a while. I hope all is going well.
Eyes roll around the room and out the door…
Cat_Glove, I am happy that you have the repairs already scheduled, so you don’t have to worry about them while you are doing fun things. I always really feel it the second day after something like that, so keep taking care of yourself.
It looks very nice!
My friend brought my new tree over today:
I’m super happy to have it, but am wondering about cutting the right branch off because I want to be able to walk under our trees. That is the healthier branch and trees do tend to grow straight up if possible, so I might take off the left branch instead even though it is straighter.
Also, she is planning a potluck jam session for next weekend and I have been tasked with making the coleslaw. Not being a huge fan, I don’t have a favorite recipe so I’m asking your help. Share your fav coleslaw recipe please!
Tomorrow will be a traditional Polish Easter breakfast (or at least it was in my wife’s childhood home): scrambled eggs, kielbasa, horseradish, and baba (or babka, depending on your place of origin). Dinner will be lamb chops and asparagus and orzo. The weather is supposed to be nice, so maybe a trip to the park where we can walk a bit.
