[Old] Lets have a healthy breakfast in the MMP

Not a time warp. Same thing happened again, just like two weeks ago. Charging tip (lightening tip) broke off in iPad Pro charging port. Same Anker cord brand.

Needless to say after a root canal and crown I can’t buy another iPad anytime soon.

Home, exhausted.

It was a nice afternoon, but LOUD as it typical of get-togethers with my side of the family. Too much to eat, most of which was starchy or sweet. Too many desserts, dammit. I have no self-control sometimes.

But I’m glad to be home. I’m about to assume the recline position and hope my ears stop ringing. :open_mouth:

The FairyChats are good looking folk.

Yaay fambly there FCM, FCMM, & kids.

We spent from 11am to 7pm with wife’s daughter and The Horde (her 7(!) adopted & foster kids). Unlike the most recent holiday we did not have a sink overflow and flood a bathroom and the kitchen mid-feast. Unlike the previous holiday to that we did not take a kid to the ER late afternoon as dinner was about to emerge from the oven.

Instead we just had daughter and her 1 tween, 2 infants, and 4 semi-verbal toddlers behaving naturally in their native habitat. Which is to say Chaos and Energy Reigned Supreme. A joyous noise was heard by all within a two-block radius.

Her Ladyship’s meal was a big hit with the adults & tween, whereas the toddlers, as always, wanted to live on apple juice and whomp-crescent rolls, generally refusing to eat weird things like roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, and sauteed green beans. Funny, but the smallest non-infants were the most adventurous; they’ll try anything. Once the kids can sorta talk, that’s when they get hooked on garbage foods. The homemade pecan pie was a hit with everybody. Even I had a couple bites while my raggedy-ass pancreas screamed in protest.

A good, if somewhat messy, Feaste was had by all.

In sad news, the twin foster infants we’ve known & she’s raised since newborn are leaving soon. They’re being handed off to some extended family in another state, never to be seen again. They’re coming up on their first birthday which they will celebrate in their new life.

We got to cuddle, feed, & hold them one last time. All the adults know going in that each kid is a temporary project of uncertain duration. But knowing each is definitely not a lifelong commitment. Still it’s hard to say goodbye when the job of raising and protecting them is just barely begun and there are so many unknowns about the world they’re going to and how well or badly they’ll be treated.

Compared to the love and life energy daughter has put into those two adorables, we’ve done nothing. And it still stings pretty good to let them go. How she does this over and over without emotional burnout is a mystery to all.

Back home now enjoying the silence, a fine rye bourbon on the rocks, and yakkin’ with y’all. Life is good.

Glad to hear of other’s Easter adventures. Sounds like some drama, some calm, and some good. Hooray for all of us.

The all-rotten potatoes (roux, milk, cheddar cheese, and sliced potatoes) turned out well. It always does, but I always wonder. The spiral-cut uncured ham from Trader Joe’s was good, as always. Tender and flavourful. I’ll just have to start cooking it earlier.

QFT

For his birthday, GG got a bucket of water all of his own!

I was going to fill the bathtub for him but it was in the low 80’s today, so I thought he’d like to play in the catio. He had SO much fun jumping in and out of the bucket and splashing it all over. I didn’t think to take the litter box out first, so I ended up dumping and hosing it out because he got the litter pretty wet.

It was a very good GG day.

The screen guy will be here tomorrow, so I cleaned all the winter clutter off the back porch (assorted buckets and whatnot that belongs in the shed) and wiped everything down. Mostly I didn’t want him tripping over a bucket, but once I got started I couldn’t see any reason to do a half-assed job. Plus, I wanted to keep an eye on George in case he started looking cold.

I’ve been hearing from folks about yesterday’s Easter Egg hunt and it was a big success. All of the kids who were signed up got age and gender appropriate Easter Baskets and there were some generic baskets filled with leftover stuff in case any kids showed up unexpectedly. And of course there were a few, but there were enough baskets to go around and left over Easter candy for the volunteers to eat. (Which is just one of the reasons I don’t volunteer to be at the events.)

It was another lovely day so I wasted most of it just sitting on the porch and enjoying the peace. The hummers are out in force now and the yard flock is enjoying the warm weather by fighting and f*cking, often at the same time. I’m keeping an eye on the dead tree, if I see a bird making a next, I spray the nest down because I don’t want eggs when the tree comes down. Which is probably going to happen next week.

The replacement tree that I showed you guys yesterday is only a year old. Mulberrys are fairly fast growing trees, I should be able to walk under it in about 5 years and we should be able to stop skirting it in about 7. It will be a magnificent shade tree about the time we have to move into town to get closer to doctors :frowning:

Our daughter is coming on the train tonight to be here with Hubs while I am away. He has an appt with PCP on Wednesday so can get a corrected form then (It was his Hematologist that gave the form that was rejected).

RealFish my fav color is turquoise and I think it looks GREAT on you!

This is the first chance I’ve had to sit down other than for a quick breakfast and for dinner. I’ve been running all day, church, made the golumbki, packing, cleaning, etc etc. Still a lot to do so I’ll sign off for now.

As I’ve previously mentioned about a month ago, neither my Iphone or my mini Ipad have a browser that will allow me to respond to the Dope, although I can read. But I’m not sure that I’ll have connectivity in the middle of the Arc of Appalachia in SE Ohio so I may not even be able to read the Dope. So, I’ll be back on Friday, maybe Saturday. Have a great week or as good of a week as you can. See you next weekend, God willing and the creek don’t rise.

Spent over an hour on the phone with my mother.

Now I need to eat. I want … nothing. Bleach.

rc, I’ll have to look at that for the next attempt. I used Manic Panic on CtE’s hair tonight. It’s still progressing, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m semi-tempted to buy some color stripper and trying again with splat, but I may just wait until next month and see what happens.

shoe, that’s what I ended up going with. I’m hoping it will work ok for them. Of course, they have the advantage of me being able to see their whole head so I could make sure to get everything saturated.

red , I made sure that Kroger was on the outside instead of the inside. Though it took me a couple tries to realize that I did, in fact, have it in the right direction to begin with. I’ll have to buy some spray leave in conditioner. I do have some that I’ve used for BtY, but that is running low.

Bumbazine, thanks. I do have to say, Ronald and I have nothing in common and I’m glad that continues to be the case.

hippy, I’m drooling over your brunch. That sounds delicious and you’ve got a couple of smart adult daughters!

Boo, I’m sorry so much has been dumping on you. I wish I had any kind of help to give you with the iPad. I hope something happens that you’ll be able to get something inexpensively and sooner than expected.

FCM, the pictures are adorable! I love all of your smiles! I’m glad that you had a good dinner (even if it was too much on the sweets) and glad that you’re home and reclining now!

pilot, that definitely sounds like toddlers to me. BtY still will only eat starchy bread out of the various things we put together for any holiday meals. Well, bread and bacon. I’m sorry that you’ll be losing the twins to extended family. That has to be one of the hardest parts of fostering, I’d imagine. I’m glad that you all had a last chance to give them all the love you have to share.

JtC it sounds like the Egg hunt was great and the day today was the best , most relaxing day you could have!

We’ve had a really low key Easter. We played on board/card game while the ham was crocking and potting, then I took the time while the rest of linner was cooking to start putting all of my DC Deck Builder games into my Multiverse box. Considering the fact that I have 6 of (I think) 7 main games, plus several expansions, dual games, and extra cards, it’s going to take me awhile to get everything added in. But at least I’ve gotten it started.

Hubby and I went to visit with Dad for a bit. I like visiting him on the weekends because there aren’t as many cars in the lot and whoever lined the asphalt made the parking space only just big enough for a regular sized car to fit in. I’m always worried during the week when the lot is more full that I’m going to end up hitting someone. But the visit with Dad was good. He’s continuing to sound better. His current complaint is that PT is having him work his arms, which are actually fairly strong, instead of his legs, which is where most of his weakness is. That’s what he really needs to have worked on to get home. But, it’ll be what it’ll be.

A quick stop was made at the grocery store before coming home to the kids that… sorta… did what we asked. CtE’s new charger for their laptop came in, after which we found out that the problem isn’t with the charger but the computer that we’ve had for 40 days. So now I’m calling to try to get it replaced.

CtE’s hair is currently baking, so I’m hoping that comes out looking better. Miracle of all miracles, we were able to get BtY into the bath tonight as well. I’m starting to think some things make work out after all. Though I suspect, much like FCM, I’m going to soon find a reclining position to finish the rest of the things that I need to do tonight. 'Cause I’m far more tired than I would have expected. And tomorrow, I get to see if the kids at story time recognize me with different colored hair.

Have a good night, all! See you in the next thread!

Evening all. A true day of sloth, nothing much accomplished and my only sojurn outside after returning the carpet blower was to turn on/turn off the water for about 15 minutes. Using the space heater to keep the carpet area dry, a new spot popped up about a foot from where the detector had marked things, so have paper towels covered by bath towels so I can determine if there is another spot to be checked. Twas a beautiful day, but just didn’t feel much like doing anything. Hopefully soccer will resume tomorrow and I have a couple of other things to do, so that should resume normal operations.

Real Fish, glad things with the kids seem to be going well and you had a good Dad visit. What did Dad-unit think of your hair?

Cat Glove, If I was able to communicate from the Antarctic Ocean, I hope you can from SE Ohio. If not, enjoy your travels.

JtC, happy the Egg Hunt went according to plan.

Pilot, that sounds like a madhouse, but a madhouse filled with laughter and love. And hope the twin fosters do well in their new home; sounds like they got a real good start. I could never do what your daughter does. And your wife sounds like she’d be an excellent Logistician.

FCM, lovely family pics there. Grandmama looks real good.

doggio, thanks for the laughter.

rocky, didn’t know you were Orthodox. Have been in a couple Greek Orthodox churches before, interesting places.

{{BBBoo}}, we will abide until you return. Be well.

Taters, glad your problem was easier to fix than mine.

Ooopsie, some extra scritches for Bailey from her Ali-bama uncle.

OK all, just waiting on the Amtrak Southwest Chief to arrive on Virtual Railfan (think I can hear it in the distance), Take care and I’ll catch you all on the next MMP.

Three generations of adorable cuteness!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
