[Old] Lets have a healthy breakfast in the MMP

Today was whole oat groats with cinnamon and maple syrup from my maple trees, along with cold brewed coffee and half and half on ice.

Other days I have half an onion bagel with cream cheese and sun dried tomatoes, or toaster waffles with maple syrup, or on special days, english muffin with poached egg, summer sausage, marmite, 5 year old cheddar, onion powder, butter, sun dried tomatoes and chipotle sauce

Still can’t get through to management. Need to fire up laptop for tax stuff; still too anxious to have eaten anything.

Bad spiral. Bad!

Confession: I once made a late-nite Wendy’s run in my bathrobe and slippers. And I do mean just those two - well, technically, three - items.

I did make sure it was cinched securely before pulling up to the window. But that was definitely a “no fucks given” kind of a night.

Thread :trophy: for snappy repartee for the morning.

Coffee? You don’t need no stinkin’ coffee.

Sympathy, empathy, attention, caring thoughts and {{{{ }}}} for as much and long as needed (and then some).

This has got to be the most interesting and intriguing mundane dilemma posed this morning. I bet our newer members would enjoy the back story when you have preferably with pictures of the warm-bloomed actors.

I’ve never been a breakfast person (much to my bariatric nutritionist’s frustration). Each morning I just have a coffee protein shake: I add ~8 oz of cold brew concentrate to an 11.5-oz vanilla Fairlife shake. That said, for some reason this morning I ate a banana before having my shake! Usually, eating so soon after waking up wouldn’t sit well with me; this time it was alright. And it didn’t make me not hungry for lunch at a reasonable lunchtime, which also tends to happen if I eat breakfast. I might try having a banana again tomorrow, because the nutritionist really wants me to eat something in the mornings.

Turns out a friend recorded part of me singing “All My Tomorrows” on Saturday night! She sent me the video file, and I used a (terrific) program called Audacity to make an MP3. The conversion introduced a little static that I can’t seem to get rid of without affecting the overall sound quality, but it’s pretty listen-able. So, for those who are interested, you can hear about a minute of me singing here. It starts right before the bridge (the middle part), and stops before the trumpet solo.

Here is my LEGO Eiffel Tower, which I built yesterday evening:

Where it says “La tour Eiffel,” on the other side (of the whole thing) is another label that says “The Eiffel Tower.” I was supposed to use only one of the label bricks: they provided a blank one for the other side, but I decided to use both of them (since I know un peu de français). I’ll just turn the build around from time to time.

Thanks for the tip! Luckily, I’m not looking to make this an actual hobby: I only bought the Eiffel Tower (six years ago) because of going to Paris, and the jazz quartet and jazz club are because I’m a jazz singer. When I’m ready to get the jazz club, though, my “nephew” has offered to let me use his VIP discount.

:people_hugging: !

You have a voice like melty butter!

Having just moved out of my home and am merely staying with a friend not setting up a new home at the moment, breakfast/brunch is interesting. Today I managed granola in milk, tea, and a slice of venison sausage. Yesterday, it was tofu spring rolls and yoghurt. Who knows what tomorrow with bring?

Will have to listen to the singing later - hubby’s watching something on tv.

Breakfast is some sort of müesli, either pre-mixed or put together by me. Oats, chia seeds, fruit, etc. with soy drink or yogurt and then a caffè latte with 2 shots of espresso.

If we have bread and eggs, I might make an egg sandwich, but the caffè latte stays. Once in a while I’ll make french toast or blueberry buttermilk buckwheat pancakes, along with orange juice and bacon. And caffè latte, of course.

On weekends the caffè latte gets 4 shots of espresso.

Howdy Y’all! Been a rainy day here in south Jawja. Good to be inside and dry I say. I’ve been workin’ more on the powerpoint thingy and still, thus far, it has not been too bad. I’ve only had to call it bad words a couple of times. Trash hasn’t been picked up yet, leadin’ me to believe it might not be until tomorrow. We shall see.

Oopsie you sing beautifully! I could listen to you for hours!

I have a horrible habit of forgetting to take medicine I need. I’ve gotten better about taking my prescribed meds daily but when it comes to pain meds I forget to take them if the pain isn’t happening at the moment.

Why am I bringing this up now? Because I’m sitting here in the car at BtY’s school waiting for him to get out of school and my back keeps spasming. Knowing that I was going to be out of the house for much of the rest of the night, I was planning on taking Advil.

Guess what I didn’t do?

Yeah, sometimes I’m my own worst enemy.

Afternoon all. Sectional has been dismembered (I know now how it is done, but whether I can do it myself… Have paper towels down and water is on, so we’ll see if anything develops. Meter says I used 27 gallons in the last 2 hours, mostly while I was at the gym, so it does look like it’s going somewhere. Will continue checking and recording this evening.

The rain this morning was apparently too much for the Parks department so soccer practice has been cancelled, I sent a note to the parents just to make sure they know, so I have the evening free.

Gym did provide some good news, after swimming and sauna, weight is 260.2 lbs, so may break the 260 barrier this month on the way (I hope) to 250.

Indeed. The internal leakage seems to have settled down for the time being, we’ll see where that goes (I have a family history of diabetes and excessive urination is one symptom). As for the house leak, still no sign of it…yet. Might spend the dough and get a professional leak finder (they do exist) in to check if the meter keeps showing excessive use before bringing in the plumbers again.

As for BP, I’m taking pills for high BP, the wrist monitor I check with shows me in the 120’s-130’s/60’s-70’s, so one number is a bit high and the other a bit low.

Oopsie, lovely voice you got, the piano was a bit loud but you sound good, lady!

Real Fish, good on the kiddo, hope the knee heals up nicely. Tell him an old bald guy in Ali-bama sends him a thumbs-up. And good wishes to Dad, MFN, Van, and your back.

OK, onward into the afternoon. Take care all.

Back from the nice tax people. Have some inkling why last year’s refund never materialized … two numbers were switched, when he asked me to confirm my bank account.

Last year’s refund, and this year’s, each separately amount to more than a month’s rent so you can imagine, I wanna get this resolved (and deposited) but gotta lurve guvmint.

“You didn’t get your refund?”
“I would have noticed. TRUST ME. To me, that’s a $#!t load of money.”

So we’ll see about this year’s refund. I asked if there was something I can do (fix the withholding?) but it has something to do with property refund (“There’s nothing you can do about it.”) so I guess I’m holding my breath & checking the mailbox.

Stoopit adulting. I hates it!

I have some meds that need to be taken in the morning but not on an empty stomach, but I’m usually not hungry then, so it’s catch as catch can for me. Today was a fried egg sandwich, yesterday was corn meal mush, courtesy of Wifey. The day before was homemade breakfast sammies with egg and sausage, and cheese.
It could be anything, even cold cereal.

Spring is here an the weather is turning nicer. I started the annual garage cleaning yesterday. It will go on for a week or two.

When I retired I had some personal property in my work van. A couple of days before the last day I emptied all of that out and stacked it on a high shelf at the back of the garage. I dug it all out yesterday and went through it. It appears that I am good for office supplies for a few years. Behind a couple of plastic bins I found my briefcase.

All fire alarm panel programming requires PC. No Apple products will work. Until the last few years, all laptop to panel communication was over a designated com port through a DB9 serial port. My briefcase was full of the components to make the load cables. Some were DB9 to RJ45, DB9 to RJ11, DB9 to CAT 5 and two different DB9 to DB9 configurations. There were also half a dozen 3.5 floppy disks, all of which were critical info at one point. Back in the early days, when DOS was the cutting edge, the entire operating system and the data base for the head end fire alarm monitoring system for a large university campus would fit on a 1.44 MB floppy disk.

I am pretty certain I will never need to build another cable like that so I now have an empty briefcase that will likely be donated to the thrift store. I know this is probably a yawner of a post, but it really took me back.

Very nice Ooopsie

Talky you know we’re here for you

I got some stuff done, very little of it matters.
I cleaned out and inventoried the fridge and freezer.
I went through another stack of papers, I am usually good about getting rid of crap, but this had piled up.
The oncologist said to go through with Ripple’s exam tomorrow, and then we’ll regroup and see what to do.
We can deposit my son’s check through the phone app so we don’t have to go to the credit union. It will be on a longer hold, but he’s not going to do anything with it until everything is settled anyway.

Cerby’s new dad sent me a message saying ‘He is a little strange’ and a video of Cerby being ‘strange’. Cerby was running around the porch barking at the ceiling. I explained that Cerby started doing that in the pavilion when my son’s phone reflected sunlight on the ceiling.
His new dad took him out and exercised him and that put a stop to it.
He seems really happy with Cerby, and says he is a really good boy.

Glad Cerby is doing well in his new home!

I made a Loch Ness Monster and a sea turtle. After I make a few more things, I’ll post a group pic rather than onesy-twosy. Back to crocheting!

I’d bet Roxy would an Elephant, and maybe the shark for Toby?

We have supped and cleanded up the kitchen. Trash was still not picked up as of a few minutes ago. Oh well, I shut the garage door and said, “I’ll think about that tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day.” I feel strongly that is what Scarlet O’ Hara would have done in the same situation.

Finished irking and now riding back home on the packed train. Bright sunshiny late afternoon but I ended up with a seat on the sunny side facing towards, not away from the sun. Easy to see my screen, but the bright orb in my peripheral vision as I type is a PITA. It’ll be gone in 10-15 minutes.

Irk itself was fine. Usual irritating snags, but not many.

Dinner shall be whatever I can scrounge from the fridge. y the time I’m home & reconfigured from work it’ll be just about 9pm. Sigh.

butters, my late sweetie’s Granny Sarah had a drop down quilt frame like that. In the fall when he and his dad would go to west Tennessee to hunt, I would go along and hang out with Granny. She taught me the rudiments of cooking on a wood cookstove and hand quilting. I really lucked out with having a grandmother of choice as an adult.

{{{sari and Ripple}}} Wishing you luck a the vet’s. I’m glad that Cerby is getting along well in his new home. We had a good dog park group for a couple of years before a couple of folks moved away and others of us changed work hours. I kind of miss it.

You have a lovely voice oopsie.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. I’m almost finished with this year’s edition of the family cookbook. In a couple of weeks, I’ll mail them out to my paternal cousin Denise and a maternal cousin Rick.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

We have two sets of sheets for our bed, and got out the clean set from the closet to put on the bed. You know how the elastic on your old swimsuit or other garments will suddenly fossilize and when you stretch it out, it makes an icky crackling noise and all stretchiness is gone forever? That happened on the elastic of the clean fitted sheet. So a not-inexpensive thing is abruptly kaput and now we have to get a new one.

But the fancy brand of sheet that we love was only sold by Bed Bath & Beyond, and B-cubed is now gone. Now we have to find an acceptable substitute. But nothing will ever be as nice as our beloved Wamsutta Dream Zones. They were tightly woven, smooth, didn’t pill up, and lasted forever. Well, almost forever. This is the first time we’ve had a fitted sheet go belly-up.
