They are circling the drain, but they are not gone nationally in the US. If you’re Canadian they’re shutting down / already shut down. And your local store may be gone. But the website is still up and selling. Best to hurry though.
I saw that too. We only need a fitted sheet - for a Cal King. Mr. brown won’t ante up for a full set. I’ll work on him.
Some fitted sheets have the elastic floating in channels. If your beloved sheets have that sort of construction, it would be a simple matter to just replace the elastic.
Evening all. Mickey D’s provided the evening sustenance and I’m doing some soccer paperwork (I am the 'Safety" Director, so I need to sign and forward any incident reports to AYSO Headquarters. Two injuries so far, one a coach and the other a player, both non-contact leg injuries during practice. So I’ll get those sent out tonight.
Did some water measuring, I’m using about 25 gallons every 2 hours with most everything shut down, so I do have a leak somewhere, but after six hours there is no sign of it on the floor. Shut it off for the evening and I may call in a guy who specializes in finding leaks with some listening gear before I bring the plumbers back in. It’s not as huge as before, but 25 gallons per 2 hours is 300 gallons a day or 9000 gallons a month, and that is way more than I ever use. So we’ll see.
Lucky, we still have a Bed, Bath and Beyond here in N. Ali-bama, if you need something from them.
Welcome home, **Pilot **
Glad Cerby is doing well, Sari; all credit goes to you for not quitting and just putting him down. Hope Ripples does well.
Hippy, I too remember the days of briefcases and floppy disks.
Shoe, you don’t often hear ‘nice tax people’ used in a sentence, but glad they seemed to be willing to help.
Alrighty, going to watch some basketball and then off to bed. All y’all take care.
How about a set of these? We use the 3-leg style and they work great.
Finishing up another mermaid - this one all in purple. But I may have to finish it tomorrow as I’s tahred and I have to get up early tomorrow to wrangle the Tobester. Off I go!!
For anyone in western Mitten State, I’m happy to give 'em a shout out, they’re patient and honest.
OH RLY
Habemus Carmen
Also, I am now poor. But I have an Old Fashioned, so it evens out.
Is that what you crazy kids are calling it these days.
Word!
{{{{Wordy}}}}
Mon, Wed, Fri: Shredded wheat with blueberries and a 'nanner
Tuesday: Egg muffin with slice of leftover meat from Sunday dinner(this week is meatloaf)
Thursday: Sausage and egg muff and banana
Saturday: Bacon, eggs, and toast
Sunday: Culinary anarchy(breakfast burritos? Breakfast nachos? Shrimp and quinoa with fried egg? French Toast? The possibilities are endless!)

Those are so nifty! I’m going to keep them in mind for when I get aggravated at my too deep fitted sheets for sliding around on my old not-deep mattress. Thanks for pointing them out.
I laughed myself into a sneeze. Well played.
Wordy, I am so stinking sorry you all are going through this. Please know that you are in my thoughts often.

I know this is probably a yawner of a post, but it really took me back.
It’s an odd feeling to know that most of what you have spent your entire life doing is lost to the past.
Good job on the garage!
Today was super windy so no porch time. The poor yard flock had to eat off the ground because their seed all blew out of the feeders and my shallow birdbath fell over, which has never happened before.
The desert bloom has started so hubs and I are planning to go to Tucson tomorrow for lunch and to the best bakery I’ve ever found. We will also go to the botanical gardens if it isn’t horrible windy. A friend promised to come over and feed the Crabby Old Cat a couple of times, so we won’t worry about that.
GG is going to be sooooo upset, he hates it when his slaves disappear for hours and he will whine at us all night. He might even remember that he’s upset the next day, but that’s not a given.

His new dad took him out and exercised him and that put a stop to it.
You have long said “A tired dog is a good dog”. You did so well with Cerby, you should be proud of yourself.

Shut it off for the evening and I may call in a guy who specializes in finding leaks with some listening gear before I bring the plumbers back in.
Still worried and praying for inexpensive.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Those are so nifty!
FCD turns over a lot at night - since his various surgeries, he has a tough time getting/staying comfortable, so he was always un-fitting the fitted sheets. Those little gizmos keep the corners on the corners.

It’s an odd feeling to know that most of what you have spent your entire life doing is lost to the past.
My first non-training assignment in the Navy was as an avionic technician on the then-new S-3A Viking. My squadron was the one that trained all the other squadrons as they transitioned from the S-2. That was 1974. The S-3 was retired in 2009 - there’s one in the Aviation Museum in this county, and standing next to it brought back lots of memories. I like to think that what I did all those years ago made a difference, but it didn’t last, did it?
Today is last Toddler Taming day for 2 weeks. The weather is supposed to be really nice, so I’ll be taking the kids to the playground after I fetch Roxy. Last night, Daughter asked me to look at her school’s budget numbers - neither she nor I have any training in accounting and I couldn’t understand what she was trying to show. We’re going to sit down next week and noodle thru it. But she needs to entice my brother to go over it with her - he’s the fancy-pants CPA and former CFO.
Anyway, just another day in Paradise!
Happy Tuesday!!
Good morning everyone.
It’s 37 degrees and dark outside. The day will be mostly cloudy, and the high temperature will be around 50 degrees. There is a possibility of snow showers this morning, but precipitation chances of any form are less than 20%.
The sun came out yesterday, and that was nice. Yesterday, I took a mile-long jaunt around the office to walk off some stiffness and frustration. Supposedly, if one walks the loop around my building four times, it comes to a mile. I would have done more, but I had some things I needed to get done, and I was expecting a Teams call.
I picked up Easter goodies for the grandkids yesterday morning, and some arrived via Amazon yesterday. I have to get them both a couple of outfits now, and I’ll do that Friday. We’re going to the kids’ place for Easter.
Wordy, sending continued hugs.
Oopsie, you have a beautiful voice.
Sari, I’m glad Cerby is doing well in his new home. I hope it continues.
Someone up-thread mentioned breakfast used to be coffee and two cigarettes. I was pretty the same, and even after being smoke-free for four years (in May), I still miss those morning and after-dinner cigarettes.
I should finish my coffee and start the dishwasher. I have a pot soaking that I need to wash too.
Morning, mumpers! It’s a blissful 7c/44f with a predicted high of 11c/53f out there, and sunny. It was definitely a bit cool but bright when I hauled the bin out to the kerb for the recycling collection, and much the same when I hauled it back in again. Weather app says “The sun is shining. The birds are fucking singing. What the fuck to you want from me?” Nothing, it would seem!
Wordy continuing hugs to you and yours, feel free to come and tell us all about it whenever you need to.
Oopsie you sings good!
Sari it’s good to hear that Cerby is doing so well in his new home, I am sure it makes you feel so much better that he’s been given another chance.
Working from home again today which has been very nice, I’ve managed to get a job done in one day that in my other dept would have taken almost a week! I also have a minion lined up to do the next part of the job which should take him half a day, there’s another chunk of work to do that can’t happen until next week because our finalised exams timetable isn’t out yet. Then this afternoon and tomorrow, I get to do module registration checks and stuff like that - fun times!
Tomorrow will be my only campus day this week as I’m on leave on Thursday and then the uni’s closed for the staff’s easter break until next Thursday. It will be good to go on leave and know I haven’t left a massive chunk of work hanging around until I get back.
So today’s plan is to get on with what’s on my list, and once I’ve logged off I have a couple of things to get ironed, then I can pack for our trip to Hamburg! Dinner tonight is leftover chilli that’s sitting in the fridge so minimal cooking required for that. And it’s almost lunchtime now too. Happy days!
Gonna make a hash out of some Jimmy Dean sage sausage, onions and potatoes this morning. Top it with fried eggs. Grocery shopping later this morning and then sloth.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and, well up. Gotta little ick goin’ on this mornin’. It feels more sinusy than anything but I may do a plague test just to make sure it ain’t that. I had plans to go over to the church house at some point today to do stuff. That may or may not happen dependin’ on how I feel later. Right now 'tis 66 Amurrkin out and cloudy/foggy with a predicted high of 85 and mostly cloudy for the day.
Not doin’ too good with comprehension, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, noogies, chitlins and how *you * doin’s all around as needed.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Morning all. Up an hour after sunrise & happily coffee-izing on the balcony. Sunny, 79F/26C and 88F/31C later. Almost warm enough to be nice.
{{hugs}} to all who need them, wordy especially. We all get to go through life’s shittier phases, but that’s scant comfort when you’re in middle of one.
Welp … it’s official. Crap. I caught something yesterday on the way home. Either in the amazing throng at customs / immigration, or on the rather full train. When I got home last night I had a slight throat tickle. My nose always runs after I eat, but post dinner (half-bread turkey sandwich & cottage cheese) my nose was on a bender. By bedtime I had the “I probably have a cold coming on” feeling & took Vit-C for prevention and Nyquil for mostly prophylactic symptom relief. I didn’t need the Nyquil … yet.
Now 9+ hours later it’s for real. Head full-ish, tickly upper chest, frequent little half-coughs, and distinctly hot throat that wants to be cleared every minute or two. Slightly low energy. There shall be a COVID test around dinner time after I’ve given it time to incubate. Oh bother. This onset is quite similar to the last time I had COVID. Though its not that different from other non-COVID URI’s I’ve had. So jumping to conclusions either way would be premature.
Crap.

Real Fish, good on the kiddo, hope the knee heals up nicely. Tell him an old bald guy in Ali-bama sends him a thumbs-up. And good wishes to Dad, MFN, Van, and your back.
Thankee, sir! I’ll let them know. The knee was pretty stiff and sore today so we’re letting them have a day of rest while using the time to catch up on the school work they haven’t been able to do because their glasses hadn’t arrived.

Stoopit adulting. I hates it!
Personally, I think adulting should be outlawed, but then how would anything get done? Or maybe we should have a weekly “Anti-Adulting Day” where all things adulting aren’t allowed.
oopsie, that was wonderful!
The gathering at MFN’s was small, but enjoyable. MFN grilled burgers (that were a tad on the meatball like side) and hot dogs. We were at the grill and picnic table by the apartment and dummy that I am, I wore a short sleeve shirt and no jacket. It was a little chilly and quite a bit windy but the good and conversation was worth it. Made a new friend that also plays Pokémon Go and is someone I can geek out with. I got a chance to hold MFN’s 1 year old niece, which I’d been missing for awhile. MFN had bought some lanterns to let fly and it took 5 of them to get just two into the air. The wind was just too much. But I did send my own wishes to those I’ve lost as it floated away.
Today is kinda up in the air. On the good side of things, I got to sleep in since I didn’t need to drive CtE in to school. But I still have to take BtY to school and then bring the van down to the shop. I’m really hoping they don’t have to keep it but if they do, then I’m heading back home via any means possible, getting in the car and visiting dad. I may have to drive Hubby to his tutoring job tonight, depending on how his foot feels.
Now I should probably start my day. Bolthouse, my meds and some fruit will make a slightly more awake fish.
Morning everyone. On the second cup of coffee, following a great breakfast. I normally have a scrambled egg either with toast or in a burrito. This morning’s was the latter, with shredded cheddar and my homemade salsa. 'Twas excellent!
It’s 72.1 deg F here, with gust and 82 predicted.
Yesterday was re-securing from Sunday’s preps for the predicted hail-pocalypse here in NTex. I’m giving the weather boffins an attaboy even though we were spared. A lot of areas around us got hail and high winds, and the weatherfolk were right to warn us about it. We secured the truck beneath its comical inflatable hail-tent, squeezed the other cars into the garage (too tight for normal parking) and prepp’d the generator just in case. All for naught, but it could have been much different with slightly changed wind patterns.
So yesterday was just folding and putting everything back where it normally lives. Since the gennie was hooked up, we went ahead and powered the house down, then lived “on the generator” for half an hour to test everything. We try to do this once per quarter anyway, so it worked out.
Today is another cardiologist-required lab test, thankfully no fasting though. She thinks there may be long-term damage from my bout with Covid earlier this year. I’m still only recovered to about 80-90% of normal (normal from before, anyway).

The boat is on the hard!! Yay!
Yaay! Mine’s scheduled for a week from today. Due to the illness/wreck/etc., it’s been ignored for 4 months, and we must either pressure-wash the hull, or turn it upside down and mow it. I will be spending several days there, getting some long-overdue cleaning and polishing. Also, I need to fill the tanks and as always, have timed it perfectly, right after fuel prices rise again. You could get rich investing in energy stocks, just basing your decisions on when I need to fill up my boat. Follow me for more stock tips!

This onset is quite similar to the last time I had COVID.
Yiikes. Sorry to hear that. Hope it’s easy and over quickly.

It’s an odd feeling to know that most of what you have spent your entire life doing is lost to the past.
I worked for several years on an offshore vessel called SEMAC 1. The last time I saw it was from a helicopter window as I headed home in the early 80’s. I got curious last year and looked to see where it was. It had been towed to somewhere on the Indian coast and scrapped. Weird to think the cabin I lived in, and the deck I worked on were now just scrap now. It was such a huge part of my life back then.
I took my uncle (retired pilot) to an aviation museum, and while viewing a C-119, he said “I used to fly that plane”. I agreed those were cool airplanes, were in Flight of the Phoenix, etc. and he stopped me saying: “No. I mean that exact airplane there. I was assigned to it for years, and have flown it to several different countries.”
Sigh… getting old I guess.
Hope everyone has a great week.
