(Old) Meticulously Monday the MMP!

Church was great. I keep my phone on silent, and I checked it and Alex had called.
Was he sharing his church’s sermon or a bible verse? No, some new self protection weapon.
Okay.
Don’t eat chip dip on the bed. It drops. Now I’ve wiped as best I could. Would like to do a load of laundry but am almost skint so going to hold off on that.
Hate that its a holiday tomorrow. Nothing to do, wishing someone would invite me for a cook out.
Such is September.

Sloth continues. Tornado and other disaster movies yesterday. Today is murder mysteries. Lager is enjoying the cuddle time.

Every now and again a bit of tidying happens.

Laundry must happen soon, down to the last bits of unmentionables.

They would have, but there was just a little bit of paint around the rim. They could have with no problem, but they said it mightn’t be sealed. I had to shake it by hand at home. (I didn’t need the two stir sticks they gave me.)

I got everything done, except for attempting to put the tarp on the canopy shed. No winners on the lottery tickets. :frowning:

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, et big time (lots o’ foodstuffs!), and I survived the committee meetin’. I have also achieved nappage and felt a tinge of scurvy and malaria comin’ on, so day drank with a gin and tonic. No biiiiiig trash can haulin’ today as tomorrow is a holiday thus pickup is delayed by a day. It’s way too hawt out, so glad to be inside in the a/c.

MOOOOOOM I assume the Tobester was scarfin’ down guac and chips at Moe’s Southwest Grill. It’s not too shabby. We occasionally get stuff to go from there, but don’t eat there cause the one here is in a kinda inconvenient place and is noisy as all get out. I hate, hate, hate the fact that the employees are apparently compelled to yell out, WELCOME TO MOE’S whenever anyone walks in.

Cookie hope you have or had a good day with daughter. Tacos and cookies sounds like a wonderful combo!

Coppertone runnin’ around the apartment screamin’ will entertain the neighbors.

BooFae glad you got power back even if’n it took a while. Sounds like a good time was had last night and I hope you accomplished slothage this afternoon.

Nettie enjoy the trip to the mountain pass. Glad Buddy is doin’ OK.

MetalMouse no back to back refereein’ in extreme heat sounds like a wise and sound plan.

Zac don’t know how it is where you are but it’s too dang hawt here. I can’t blame the little bat for preferrin’ the a/c.

Rain! We’re getting more than a few drops of blessed rain!

There has been a slow, gentle rain since ~1100, accompanied by thunder. We could use about a week of this.

I’ve done the cut work for a batch of Valentine cards to donate this afternoon and did Sunday chores this morning. I’ll do the ink work this evening on the cards and assembly tomorrow afternoon. Nothing much else shaking at CasaRoja.

Afternoon all. Got my 5 Guys meal and sat down to eat it at home…and threw up the first bite. But that was all and I was OK to eat the rest of it and it appears to be staying in place. Then let the dishwasher finish and lay down…for about 3 hours, up now due to some thunder-boomers overhead. Still feel a little fuzzy, pretty sure I had a mild case of heat exhaustion, so just going full-bore slothage today. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow, have cancelled Monday soccer practice since it is Labor Day and lots of the kids/parents may have other things to do.

Dicey, I’ve done multiple hot-weather games before, what I didn’t do this time was give me a break in-between and doing them right after coaching (so I coached at 8:30 and 9:45am, then refereed at 11:00am and 12:30pm). Just over-estimated my conditioning…

Taters, glad the pups are adjusting to the sleeping arrangements, and fingers crossed that ‘the operation’ goes as planned.

Wet one, am taking your advice.

Oopsie, glad your family members know each other so well that you can avoid potential clashes. And let me know what you think of the Spy Museum, I missed that on my June trip to DC, may be a reason to go back someday.

Not a lot; but I do hear the boys a lot clearer now, since lots of 8-10 year olds tend to mumble when speaking to ‘older folks’. As for the parents, I never listen to them anyway…

Z, glad bat was removed with a small amount of fuss.

red, glad you are seeing some rain too; now if it will just cool things down some…

OK, back to slothage.

I’ve had (and enjoyed) fruit pizzas, I’ll bet the veggie ones are pretty good as well. (Puts on menu list.)

I hope the brownie was as yum as they sound.

Yeah, well, that didn’t work out before they were formally introduced, now that they are conjoined it will be a hard no.

We will watch them closely and go from there.

The texture was just “off” and it didn’t melt like it should have. It acted like store bought shredded parm tbh. Why yes, I am a cheese snob, its in the job description.

What is the cook pot made of? Stainless steel shouldn’t influence food taste. Did it taste that way before you got Lyme?

What a good guy he is. Be sure to feed him up good so he has the strength to haul it all back home and clean up.

You can give yourself a pat on the back for helping to guide him towards healthy living, good for you too!

We see a lot of dark humor in the situation. Always before our cats showed up on our doorstep (GG doesn’t count. He was a spite cat, but he did come with all of his vetting and we knew up front that we were responsible for having him fixed.), leading us to understand that there is no such thing as a free cat.

We were hoping that getting a cat from a shelter would shelter us from the high cost of a free cat.

Oh well, there is no going back now. The shelter is still on our charity list.

“and I am not 50 anymore”

If you go to your local feed and grain sto, you can probably find some large syringes. Fill one with syrup and inject it inside the pancake. Bacon and maple syrup goes great with everything. (Try it with chopped toasted walnuts over vanilla ice cream. You can thank me later.)

Hubs gets up at 6, pushes the button on the Keurig, then feeds the cats. He also closes the bedroom door on his way out so I can sleep in a few more hours. Today Jolene must have been too slow because she got locked in a no gooshy fud room at gooshy fud time.

We have both commented on how hard it is to know if she is on the bed because she walks so lightly. I’m here to tell you that she does NOT walk lightly when there is fud involved, LOL!!!

Oops, LOL!!! Does it look off to you or is the progression slow enough that you are used to the fade? I have ink on my inner arm and if it was gone I’d find myself wondering if it was actually my arm at random times.

I can’t imagine living without screened doors and windows. Of course, the only times I’ve ever lived without screened doors as when I was living in the barracks, but we still had screened widows we could open. One of the things we will be doing before next year is putting screen doors over the french doors in my room.

Of course I’m in the “cats never go out” camp, so there is that.

Dried cat pee is pretty inoffensive, but it is best to be sure. Get a black light and enzyme cleaner, it’s cheaper than nuking it from orbit.

Did you shoot your eye out? J/K, I’m glad you got the bat out without any being getting hurt.

Ain’t nothing wrong with getting your panties out of the dryer. Who’s going to notice if they are wrinkled?

It’s finally cooled down here. It never made it to 80 and we got a short but violent downpour. No kitties were in my room so I closed the inside door before opening the french doors and just loving the sound and smell.

Hubs put a pork butt in the smoker last night so din will be pulled pork and cornbread. So far our new cast iron pan has only been used for tortillas, this will be the first cornbread attempt.

We did our Sunday morning grocery shopping and found pork chops and hamburger in the used meat bin, then found Italian sausage on sale too. This whole restocking food thing is getting kinda old, I don’t think we need to get everything all at once but hubs…

Before we moved, we both took care of breakfast and lunch as we wanted. Well, I cooked a lot of stuff for him to warm up, but I didn’t serve it to him.

When we moved, I got in the habit of making lunch for us both because we were living out of an ice chest and samwiches and chips were easy. Nowadays Jolene knows when lunch time is. She loves deli chicken and thinks that deli turkey is pretty good as well. All I have to do is walk into the kitchen around noon to have her turn into PITA kittah, underfoot and reaching up towards the counter.

Today we had late breakfast at Tudor’s so weren’t in need of lunch.

Jolene was. The wailing and begging and starving drama was so much that I finally caved and gave her a piece of deli chicken.

I sure showed her!!!

Nothing tastes like much since the Lyme.

100% agree with this. I like their stuff, but the forced welcome is annoying. Firehouse subs does the same thing.

I use a paddle thingie that attaches to a hand drill. As long as you’re careful with the speed, it beats sticks and even hand shaking by a lot!

I assume so - Daughter said it was a place they used to go to in Orlando, but the nearest one to us in in Annapolis. And, yeah, I’d hate the yelling too. Just shut up and feed me, dammit!!

And you are over 70 - no matter how fit you are, age will take a toll. So don’t be stoopit!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, what she said!

Me too - if they don’t go out, they don’t bring fleas in, or dead critters, or other stuff.

I’ve got both - forgot about the black light. I’ll check later.

I learned something cool today - don’t mock if you already knew this. FB messenger and the texting app on my phone both have the option of having my location show up on a map that I can send to whoever. I found this out when Daughter texted me a map when they were in Jawja and again in TN. Very cool! Plus now when I ask her “Where are you?” she won’t say “In the car” And if you had to go rescue someone, you can get directions right to them! I love that technology!!

We’ve had a few spits of rain, but mostly it’s been a dreary day. No t-boomers yet but we still might see/hear some tonight. Or not. Who knows. Back to the recliner with me now!

OK, I have no idea why, but this got stuck in my head this evening. Anyone else remember it? FWIW, the series is apparently available on YouTube.

Carry on.

Watch yourself when you’re coaching / reffing this time of year. :hands on hips: Don’t make me come to northern Alibammy to visit you in the horsepistol! :hands on hips:

My dad used to use a repurposed hand mixer.

JtC the beans and the cake got et up. Yay for that! The beans were in a disposable pan, but the cake was in one of my good sheetcake like pans. It was in the sink with soap and water when I got home. I washed it a little while ago. He lugged it to and from, so I guess the least I could do was wash. Looks to me like Jolene (love that name so much!) has you well trained as to givin’ up the lunchtime goodies. How said that she missed out on early mornin’ gushy foods!

MOOOOOOM I’ve never seen that cartoon, but will watch on youtube. I likes me some cartoons.

Daughter sent me some pics from Buc-EEs in Kodak, TN. Looks like they ran amok in there. They’ll drive a bit more till SIL poops out - not sure where they’ll stop for the night. I hope it’s clearer tomorrow so they can actually see some of the mountains.

I’m not a CW fan and Dolly has never been on my play list. I do live in the world and have heard the song in the past, but never thought about until the day Jolene arrived. She looked around and deemed it to be acceptable, thought that the bald hooman looked easy to train as well as being warm. “I’ll take that one” She looked at GG and thought he would be smooshy and took him as well. She then flicked her emerald eyes at me and said “You? hmmmmm. Well I guess you can fetch deli turkey for my mid-day snack. Don’t bother me until then, mkay?”

She did not miss breaky, she started walking on my face as soon as the door was closed. Hubs didn’t know about his horrible, almost unforgivable mishap until I mentioned it later.

So anyhow, I’m here to say that tonight’s cornbread was the best ever. I bought a skillet with a grab thing on it and I’m glad I did. I’m thinking the pan heated the kitchen more than the oven did, LOL!

My spirit animal!

Your church community has been so generous towards you; surely they could benefit from an able-bodied volunteer with some available free time?

“WELCOME TO DICKEYS” often hollered out without so much as glancing up from our current task.

Ah, corporate chains.

Every cat’s living nightmare.

I pointed out to S.M. that since I routinely dress myself out of my clean hamper that pretty much lives by my chair so I’ll get to it “eventually” .. when I show up in a rumpled/wrinkled shirt, you KNOW it’s clean!

Brand new? Dang. How’s the seasoning so far?

{ wipes paint off ceiling }

I cleaned. I laundered, I napped. I took out the trash and recycling and ran to Teeter for a beltonion between thunderstorms. It continues to rain. Spot is somewhere being cat and mysterious. I’m having the usual Wisconsin Old Fashioned with dinner. and I still have another day off tomorrow.

One time at Rite Aid the Assistant manager got married to a Moe’s manager, and the wedding was 50/50 mix of Moe’s and Rite-aid employees. Someone said the prcessional should everybody yelling “WELCOME TO ”

So, put a window unit in the bat house!

Nope.

And just a quick late note. Heading off to bed soon, had a small sammich to tide me over (5 Guys can fill you up for a full day). Still awful tired so hopefully 8 hours of sleepage will get me feeling better.

True, but I thought all the gym time and weight loss would let me power though…I have learned the error of my ways.

No screen doors here, did get screens installed when I replaced the windows several years ago.

Sounds like Jolene has you well-trained already. And yea! on the cornbread.

But being stupid is half the fun of life…

FCM, I dimly remember the cartoon and the song brought back old memories (but isn’t stuck up there). Always considered it a minor-league Tom-and-Jerry. Don’t know if you have been in a Buc-ees yet, they are rather interesting places.

Yes ma’am.

And that’s all I got. Off to bed to work on the Sunday NY Times until sleepage comes calling. Take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP/

You misspelled “band camp.”

Damn, dude, wtf was IN that old fashioned?

Admit it, you “accidentally” made a Long Island iced tea, didn’t ya?

I’m giggling picturing a teeeensy-tiny Coolio.

What’s the other half?

(Hell, that could be its own thread… )

There’s a mosquito in my house. Keeps buzzing my ears, and then when I try to GET it, somehow it finds my ankle.

Someone’s gonna die tonight, and it ain’t gonna be me.

I did say Spot and I were getting crunked. :stuck_out_tongue:

You gotta lay off that kibble, man.
