(Old) “Oh shit! I see Monday!” - Spot‘s new MMP (told you I liked it)

shoe The rumor I’ve heard is Earnest Hemmingway had a bunch of polydactyl cats in Cuba, and a mess of them got back to the States and are now where they come from. Take a large grain of salt with that.

Ok, gotta get up early to pack for my trip. I did make a list. Just hope the truck makes it ok on the highway. I’m still skittish about the damn wheel.

Lilly That was a Denny’s T-Day meal? Looks pretty darn good.

Former Partner got me involved. I like it and the people involved a lot. It’s got the community of all the best churches with none of the religion. We only meet once a month, try to do things to help the community at large, and have really interesting speakers come in. If there’s one by you, I definitely recommend checking it out as work schedules permit.

metal mouse, thanks for all the well-wishes. I’m definitely hoping for the best with everything.

Salty, but tasty. I knew it would be salty, so I was prepared.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/38f with a predicted high of 6c/42f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s cold and fucking overcast outside. This is the fucking bullshit that causes seasonal depression.” I’d agree with that, although I am not depressed today as I’m off work and we’re off to Scotland.

Going up to Largs today, staying with ‘im indoors’ mum tonight, then off to Troon in the morning for three days of the WinterStorm festival, then back to Largs for a day and a half before heading home again. Then a bonus day at home before I go back to campus.

I may not be posting here much as my laptop is staying at home, and catching up with all of you on my phone is not easy  I’m sure I’ll be posting the occasional photo and the usual drivel on Farcebook though…and keeping up with Sticky Buns hat collection

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 74 and mostly N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is prep work for the big feast tomorrow. I shall attend a Thanksgiving service at noon over to the church house. OYKW has opted not to attend. Thus shall the day in swampland be. I shall endeavor to squeeze in some RDOS inactivities, but it may be hard to do so.

All that are travelin’ for various reasons be safe.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Great minds, eh?

Now you and MetalMouse have got me thinking about the last movie I saw and it wasn’t very long ago and I still can’t remember!

ETA: Venom: The Last Dance - I probably don’t remember because I didn’t think it was that great. I actually had to look it up on the Cinemark App

I do hope you have a good time.

LOL!!!

Sounds like I’m going to need to up my game!

I’m just sitting here chilling for a little bit longer. I’ve eaten breakfast and Annie is eating hers now. When my mom is awake I’m going to start making noise in the kitchen. I think I’ll probably bake pies today. Not sure what else, though.

The polydactyl cats are at his estate in Key West. Went there once and there must have been a 100 of them running around. Easier for them to make their way to the rest of the country being picked up by tourists and taken home with them from there

The last movie we saw out was Black Barbie.

Good morning.

It’s 43F and cloudy. There will be considerable cloudiness throughout the day, and the high temperature will be 48F.

I decided to take all of today off since I had to burn four hours of travel comp time. I thought, “Self, that’s nearly half a day, and since you’d already planned on using two hours of admin leave, you might as well burn three more hours of all that comp time you have on the books.” So, that’s what I’m doing.

I could not get reservations at any restaurant tomorrow, so we will stay home and keep it simple. It’s not the end of the world, and I’m relieved I don’t have to eat turkey. Unfortunately, I’ll have to eat it sometime because it’s in my freezer now, and I can’t let it go to waste. Plus, it’s taking up space in the freezer—a first-world problem.

I hoped to have a chill day, but as I was feeding the pups, I noted I only had enough food left to get through tomorrow, so I’ll need to buy some food for them today. And since I’ll be out and about anyway, I’ll get the fixings for something I can make in the crockpot tomorrow. It’ll probably be a pot roast, but I’m feeling “soupy,” so maybe I’ll make some soup instead.

I have a lovely long weekend ahead before I drive down to Olympia on Monday, work, pick up a GOV, drive to Edmonds and then Mount Vernon on Tuesday, scout out some office space we’re considering giving up, drive back to Edmonds, and then home (probably rush hour by that time), and then back to Olympia on Wednesday to return the GOV, work, and then drive back home in my vehicle. I don’t know, I might take my Jeep. It’s just a lot of faffing about and driving that I’m not interested in doing. Unfortunately, I need to do it.

It’s been eight years or so since I’ve been to a theater to watch a movie. I’m not in any hurry to go back.

Okay, I will finish my coffee, scrub the kitchen, and prepare to brave the store’s crowds. I hope those of you preparing feasts or braving traffic to partake in someone else’s feast have a good day.

.

Advance warning: If you want light-hearted, happy stuff, skip my post.

FCD got a call just before midnight last night. His brother fell and hit his head against the fridge and wound up in the ER. Apparently the top half of his heart isn’t working with the bottom half, and his pulse rate dropped to 30. BIL called in a panic because he worries about the money. FCD assured him that we’ll take care of it (i.e. we’ll let the money people know that his only income is SS and his insurance is Medicare)

They’re unable to deal with the need for a pacemaker in the little hospital in Leonardtown, so he was to be airlifted to DC. BIL called again around 3 to tell us they were about to go. And at the moment, FCD is on the phone with his doctor arranging to go to the hospital. Not sure if he’ll be bringing him home today. But I’m under strict instructions (like I needed them) not to tell MIL. As far as she’s concerned, FCD is going to the boat. [end of crappy news]

SIL will be dropping off the grandspawn shortly. Either they’ll frolic in the basement or they’ll help me in the kitchen (!!!) to prep some stuff for tomorrow. With luck, MIL will stay asleep for a while.

#%#%

It’s about an hour later. Kids are here, FCD is gone (after getting a jump because his car wouldn’t start. We’re about to go downstairs and frolic. I’ll be back later.

Happy Wednesday!

To anyone wanting to watch the Macy’s parade. …

IANA expert, but based on what I can piece together from public and participant info …

The parade starts moving at 8:30am Eastern time. It takes over an hour for the leading edge of the parade to get to the other end. All the TV cameras and celebrity talking heads are right near the far end. So if the telecast starts at 8:30, they’ll be doing nothing but yak yak and highlights and behind the scenes peaks until nearly 9:30 when the front of the parade finally gets to them. Net of any cameras or roving reporters they’ve stationed upstream.

As to my green dino specifically, we’re someplace between halfway back and 3/4ths of the way back in the event. I expect we’ll get to the TV area around 11am eastern. Typically the tail end of the parade finishes the route at around 12 noon.

FCM, sad to hear about BIL, hope they can fix the physical problem, the rest… Best wishes to FCD who is carrying a load no one should have to bear and {{hugs}} to you for being with him at this time. Enjoy the time with the kids at least.

Pilot, happy marching.

Safe travels, vanGO.

Have fun, boofae.

Taters, yeah, 'tis the season to burn comp time and use-or-lose hours. And sounds like next week is going to be a lot of travel; hope the GOV (Government Owned Vehicle) is a nice one.

As for me, slept to 7:30am and have pilled myself and eaten an apple and that’s about the sum of my accomplishments today. Will try to get my swimming in a bit later, but the gym is closing early tonight and will be shut down on T-Day, so won’t stress it too much. It’s 44F heading to 64F according to the weather wizards with more rain due late tonight.

Take care all.

I am planning to go stock up on groceries as starting Friday we are to have a winter events; days of a large amount of snow ( Great Lakes area) and below freezing temps for a while.
May go to the dentist to get my new plate whittled down to fit.
I hate winter.

FCM, I have no words. I hope things go as well as they can for your BiL. :people_hugging:

Metal Mouse, except for the Dodge Caravan, all our GOVs are new this year. I plan to drive the Expedition, just because. We have the Expedition, Subaru Ascent, Subaru Crosstek, and the van. I drove the Crosstrek all over the state last July for the safety inspections.

So sorry, FCM & FCD.

(((FCM and family)))

I’ve been in the kitchen baking and trying to organize things. Somehow I discovered that I have 10 pounds of butter! I’m not really sure what I’m going to do with all that. I’d love to bake some bread, but it might be overkill with everything else that I’m going to be making in the next couple days.

Butter freezes quite well, just FYI.

BIL will get a pacemaker on Firday. And looks like he’ll have to stay with us for a couple of weeks after. So we have that to look forward to.

First thing this morning, I was informed – indirectly, of course  – that my support of this proposal is no longer needed and that the two idiots in charge will take care of the finalization. I’m not about to argue! So, today I’ve been taking care of some of the stuff I’d had to put off (which feels good) and I’ll get to log off a little early (which will feel even better), and I get to have a stress-free 4-day weekend! I’m freeeeeeeee!:tada:

Increasing my happiness is that three new Lego sets got delivered a little while ago: Chewbacca, plus two small gifts with purchase (a simple holiday train, and a record player). I’ll build at least the holiday train this evening. In order to hit the “with puchase” amount needed for the record player, I also got a holiday sweatshirt: those can be iffy for me if they’re too thick, because I run warm, but I was super glad to discover that it’s pretty thin (it’s almost more of a long-sleeved t-shirt – which they also have, but with a slightly different design). I just put it in the laundry, and will wear it to my BFFs’ tomorrow.

In case I don’t post again later today or tomorrow morning: Happy Thanksgiving to those who observe!

Sometimes that’s all you need to know!

OMG same here! I love movies, but have never been super big on seeing them in theaters. I used to keep all of my ticket stubs, but at some point I switched to just keeping a list: so I know that’s the last one, and that I saw it on May 1, 2019.

LOL! :joy:

I’ll definitely keep an eye out for a green dinosaur around then…and don’t think I’m not gonna brag later about how I “know” someone in the parade!

Ugh. :people_hugging: I wish rehab were an option for everyone’s sake, but here’s hoping things are back to “normal” by Christmas… :crossed_fingers:
