(Old, or maybe we mean Aulde) Happy Christmas MMP

Same, and … yeah.

There is a thing called “Broken Heart syndrome” and it appears that she haz it.
And she’s more than, um, “earned” it. I am so sorry.

I’m sorry, your FCD just isn’t gonna relax anytime soon, much as he needs it.

That’s my standard “joke” when giving back a quarter in change (a large deluxe - our most popular by far - is $24.75 so I get handed a shitload of twenty-and-five) and after a year anna half at this job, this one still gets me a chuckle, or sometimes, a double-take.
I just hafta remember not to use it on the regulars.

Thinking to the “jokes you can’t help making” thread … maybe I oughta retire this one.

As much as it pains me, this may well be true. Or she might surprise us and rally for a bit and then spiral in.

Sincere hugs to all.

I’m so sorry things are looking so grim, FCM. I can understand why FCD wants to be on his way now, the heart sometimes rules the head in cases like these, poor man.

Howdy Y’all! Sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, day drinkin’, and soup have ruled the day. Been watchin’ the Orange Bowl and my DAWGS are up 42 - 3. It’s like Flahrduh State did not even show up, so now I’m kinda half watchin’ even though it’s early(ish) third quarter. Thus has this day been.

MOOOOOOM here’s hopin’ for the best for MIL and hopin’ y’all don’t have to cancel the cruise. Hope FCD gets it in his head to not try to head out for Indiana until he at least feels better.

A yoga option for you could well be exercises designed for wheelchair users. Either that, or check into your local gym with a pool and see if they offer water yoga classes. (missred is a klutz with balance issues, so I’ve done both).

Do you plan on seeing Archie ?

At my house, that’s a tool for the checkbook. You’re much more ambitious than I.

Years ago, on a particularly rainy Thanksgiving up to the land of lake effects snow, my then teenage niece and I decided that if there was such a place as hell, it wasn’t hot, it was 40F and raining.

Yay on the old house business being done sari!

Ariel looks like me at the bottom of a snack bag wet one. :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope that FCD feels better soonest and everything gets resolved with MIL before leaving for the cruise Mooooooom. EoL sucks for most involved.

SIL and I had our ramble today. We started with a breakfast of crepes and cappucino at Red Bicycle Cafe, wandered down through Shelbyville, then Fayetteville, where we stopped at Java Road for more coffee and a chocolate scone. We turned around about 20 miles from metal mouse in Hazel Green, AL and headed back home via a different route. It was enjoyable and Nelson got to go along with us. He even got a doggy treat from Java Road.

We also stopped at Goodwill in Shelbyville, where I got a nice crossbody purse (must be a day for that) and a loaf pan with an insert for meatloaf, both the half price color. Now, I’m slothing with a reddish doggy on my arm.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I will not need double secret extra special confession tomorrow. My DAWGS won 63 - 3. Nary a bad word was spoken by da bear. Matter of fact I got kinda bored in the second half and switched back and forth between the game and Netflix. Every time I switched to the game it was all “look the DAWGS scored again. Oh well.”

Already have.

@FairyChatMom

I am so sorry to hear of your MIL’s troubles. She hasn’t been in the best of health herself and the losses she has had recently are likely taking a toll also.

{{FCM & FCD}}

How is the PT going hippy? I’m glad you are recovering so well. Are you back to quilting again or does that involve too much arm movements?

My busy week is finally over, thank goodness. Hubs has a very nice family, but they sure can talk. I did most of the driving so hubs could talk to our passengers and I heard more words out of him in a day than I usually hear in a week!

Today was laundry day and since I wasn’t doing laundry, I started making tamales. This was by request, several of the distaff gender wanted to learn the process. I’ve made tamales under supervision in the past and they aren’t that complicated, just time consuming. The only thing I’ve not done in the past was make the masa, which also wasn’t that hard. But the recipe didn’t call for nearly enough salt.

Figuring that everyone knew how to put a pork butt and red chili sauce in the crock pot, I got that going last night (while holding back some of the sauce so the cooks could see/smell/taste/touch as desired).

We made 30 pork tamales and 30 green chili and cheese tamales. 50 of them got eaten (teenagers in the house) and the rest got packed up and sent back to their AirB&B with them. Tomorrow they are off to Disneyland and I am not envying that drive at all.

The dishwasher is sloshing again, that poor thing has been running almost non-stop all day.

The granddaughter didn’t want to help cook but said that she wouldn’t feel right watching all of us work without doing anything, so hubs took her out back and showed her a leak in our sprinkler system that needed fixing. He had been planning on calling our handyman out, but she got it done which was nice.

When I checked Nextdoor this morning, I saw a very nice wicker loveseat for sale. I had been looking for something like it for our back porch and it was a very good price. Hubs said it wouldn’t fit in our cars so I messaged the owner and told her that I wanted it, but didn’t have a way to get it home until our neighbor got home from work. I also told her that if she could deliver it, I would give her the 10 bucks I was going to offer the neighbor. She was so desperate to get it out of her home (no room anymore, one of her children bought her a nice electric recliner) that she got a neighbor of hers to bring it over. He looked very surprised when I handed him the ten dollars, LOL!!!

Are you sure wicker and cats can co-exist without damage?

Actually…yes. We had a wicker chair for over 20 years that never had cat damage. It was light enough that if one tried to get in a good scratch, they would pull it over on top of themselves. Instant retribution is a great cat deterrent, LOL!!!

We would still have that chair, but Mom took it back to give to a sister and it was grandkid ruined in less than a year.

However, this chair is destined for the back porch once I move things around some.

From The Wicker Man (1973):

Well, it’s stove top cooking of grits tomorrow morning.

I went to melt some butter for popcorn (I pop it in peanut oil, but like a little melted butter on top) and the damn thing put off sparks like new years’ eve. I’ve known that I would have to replace it soon, given that it’s about 10 years old and the interior paint has been peeling for a while, but it’s never done this before. The monkey dish that I put in there has no metal whatsoever and has been used in it before (it’s restaurant china, so nearly indestructible).

I pick up the new Cuisinart microwave at Tar-jay tomorrow. I’ll have my neighbor help schlep it in.

Well, dang! Wonderful timing, good luck with the traffic tomorrow, we will be staying home.

I’ve hit my tired wall face first and am hoping to last long enough to refill the dishwasher with the remaining stuff before bed, but that is looking pretty doubtful.

Had a Vieux Carré, Asian BBQ stirfry, and winning hockey.

Would you be interested in adopting a Large Adult Son?

I’ll need to do that soon. Mine is rusting on the inside.

{{{{FCD and FCM}}}}

FCM, may the unfolding medical news be as boring as possible. CHF is manageable for many people.

I looked myself up on IMDb. I sent an update about my 2015 marriage. Maybe they’ll post it. (Sorry. If you’re interested you’ll have to find the clues from previous posts, or else know me from Facebook. )

Evening all. Did make it to the gym for some calorie-burning, then proceed to overeat for dinner and am now sitting here a bit uncomfortably stuffed (losing weight means there isn’t quite as much space down there as before). Tomorrow I want to try and get to the gym one more time so I can check my end-of-the-year weight, but they close at 4pm so I’ll have to plan for it. Down to 34F now so no going outside for the rest of the night.

swampy, watched some of that game while I was pedaling the calories away, them Dawgs obviously felt they had something to prove and boy howdy, did they prove it!

red, know exactly where you two were, made for a nice time out. But no Jack Daniels stop??  And glad nothing too large was in the microwave when it went rogue, hope the new one does just as well.

JtC, family is great is relatively small doses, sounds like they’re heading out at just the right time. And good on granddaughter being such a handy-woman. And need pics of the wicker loveseat when you get it set up.

Alrighty, need to finish the evening internettin’ and head off to bed. See everyone on the last day of 2023.

been there, done that, more than once.

???

swampy Congrats to the Dawgs. I know the Seminole 1st string QB was injured and the 2nd string opted out. I also know a RB and 2 WRs opted out (one of whom, Keon Coleman, was a Spartan for the past 2 years and he was very good). But still what a hurting the Dawgs put on the Seminoles. And now we won’t have to hear them saying they are National Champions.

Yesterday was quite a good day. Alarm went off at 5:45am, stayed in bed with the mini Ipad for about an hour then showered, ate breakfast, made breakfast for Hubs, moved a lot of furniture out of the way in the living room, curled hair then was off at 8:50 with Hubs to the hospital for him to get an infusion of a medication that is supposed to be like a firewall against the infection that he had so he doesn’t get a recurrence. But had to hightail it home because of a delivery that was supposed to come between noon and 5pm.

I have wanted to get a NuStep for at least 2-3 years. It’s the piece of equipment I use every time I go to the Fitness Center. But it’s pretty expensive and being the child of people who went through the Depression, I never bought one. Well, with the after requirements of Hubs transplant procedure (no driving for 100 days after he is released from the hospital or going to public crowded places like the mall, restaurants, fitness center and the instruction to exercise every day), I decided to pull the trigger and buy a NuStep. I checked their website in early November and what a shock on the pricing. I waited until Cyber Monday and the discount was appreciated so I purchased it. Although the sales rep was quite unpleasant; she kept trying and trying to get me to buy a more expensive model than the one I wanted and she used an angry tone of voice; she must work on commission. She told me it would take 5 weeks for delivery. I actually had a call on the Thursday before Christmas asking if they could deliver it the next day. But that day was the 8th anniversary of Mom’s passing and I had requested a memorial mass at her church which I wanted to attend and Hubs was still in the hospital with the infection but the Dr. had indicated that he might be released so I asked if it could be put off until after Christmas. So, the freight company called on Wednesday and asked if they could deliver it on Friday (yesterday). I had the choice of 7am-noon or noon-5pm time frame. I chose the afternoon. Then on Thursday the hospital called to schedule the infusion. They asked if 9:30am Friday would be ok. I figured that it wouldn’t take that long and that we would likely be home by 11am. I was wrong. We didn’t get in the car to leave the hospital parking garage until 11:37. That was the fastest I ever drove home from the hospital and I’ve done so about 20+ times between Dad, Mom and Hubs. Got home at 11:58, normally it’s more like 1/2 hr up to 45 minutes, depending on traffic. So, then I started vacuuming, washing baseboards like crazy in 2 potential places that I wanted it located. About 2-1/2 minutes after I finished, the truck pulled up. Timing couldn’t have worked out better. The delivery personnel, Cory & Carl, were very professional and friendly. They put it right where I wanted which is a good place to watch TV. I offered them choice of pop and they went with coke. Then I told Hubs it was his birthday present, his birthday is next week. So, we both took a turn working out and it was great! I’m so happy with it. Later went to Kroger then Sahara Restaurant for a carryout of Mjadara and a Shish Kafta sandwich. The owner gave me extra garlic spread. :yum:

Today was sloth, doping (both mmp and research for dead pooling), then Spartan games. The men beat Indiana State and the women beat Penn State! Yay! shoe If you enthusiastically tell the Spartan garbed customers “Go Green”, they should reply “Go White” and it may enhance your tip.

BJ’s Wholesale Club - Low Prices from Leading Brands (bjs.com) is an east coast regional big box retail chain indistinguishable from Costco.

Hooray for happy NuStepping!!

Make it two. Please!1!. We’ll be good; I promise!

And congrats JtC on your successful visit and triumphant wicker-augmented return.

Flyboy I recall watching both Father Goose and Operation Petticoat over a couple of consecutive nights on the TV when I was a tween / teen, so early 1970s. One of the LA stations must have been having a Cary Grant film fest. Great classic cinema, what of it I can remember.

If you spell it BEOTCH that’ll probably be more effective. Some outfits are best dealt with by killing them with fire. Other by ignoring them completely. Hard to know which is the winning strategy for you.

As to me:
I accomplished nothing but eating, reading, and Doping all day. Now it’s well past my bedtime but I’m rehearsing for staying up late tomorrow night so not quite ready to call it quits. Soon though.
