(Old) Spot-ify: The MMP That's The Cat's Meow

Next February, FCM will be leading the poor unsuspecting man to the garage to work on the mower, where she’s helpfully cranked a pellet stove to the max and has a nice hot beverage to sip while she watches him work…

Thanks, I will put it on my mini HN cheerios.
Theres an inch of snow. T’will be done snowing by morning.
Enjoying my bite size tortillas with salsa con cueso.

It’s only fair~I confuse myself most of the time. At least he has you to explain things.

yes, indeed.

Me too. I record the game then start watching about an hour later and fast forward through all of the game and only watch the commercials and the halftime show. Not sure if I will like the show this year, I’m not big on rap or whatever it is the kids are doing these days other than real singing. I’d say bring back some rockers but then their target audience probably wouldn’t be all over that.

oh, I love that. My daughter would love it even more.

or she thought she would be next.

The Weather Lady just said 1-2" for metro Detroit, 2-3" for the thumb and 3-5" for further north. Guess, I’ll be shoveling first thing tomorrow morning before I leave for mass.

I’m so glad I didn’t jinx Jordan. He made his pars at the 17th and 18th.

Life continues to be eccentric over here. I just spent several minutes digging into my jewelry collection to accessorize Allie for DH’s weekly photography challenge over on the Nikon forum. It’s two topics this week, since last week was a tie between two winners (one was DH). Topics are “pets” and “jewelry”, and DH, being him, is trying to combine the two.

I did unearth several bracelets that can be used as pseudo-collars for her. The big challenge, of course, is going to be getting her to cooperate with being photographed, which she dislikes.

I would wear the second one from the left in modern fabric.

Glad you got a good deal on your mower Mooooooom.

I actually know Nelson’s birthday (29 Apr 2017), as he was born at my sister’s house and I got pics shortly after he was dried off. Newborn Nelson

I love the sampler style of this one.

We had a good time at the dog park. Among the crew on the small dog side were Gabby (whippet) and Tofu (Italian greyhound) so there was much running. When I got home, I went to nuke the last cup of coffee in the pot and found that my microwave had crapped out. It would show and could have the time reset, but when I put the time in and pressed start, it died every time. I went online and ordered a new one at Tar-jay for pick up and abandoned left the dogs at home for about a half hour to pick the new one and a burger for supper up. I’ll install the new one shortly.

(Given that this is the second Cuisinart appliance that had a remarkably short lifespan, as in a little over a year, I would say that their quality has gone to hell in a handbasket. The new one is a B&D.)

I found out that Penny can catch things mid-air, a talent that Nelson (and his mother) does not possess. We’ve been playing with mini tennis balls and she’s discovered the squeeky inside.

Hey all!

So the river has overflowed its banks and is now causing problems for folks in low areas. The swim teacher at the gym texted me to say that the road to the gym was closed because the creek was over the road. I thought that was very nice of her, it wasn’t her job, she just has my text because she’s a nice person who offered to let me know if the pool got closed because of the filter problems.

It is very wet outside, but it’s not all muddy and ugly. Of course I can’t help but compare what things are like here to AZ, and WV is really shining now. This much rain in AZ would guarantee slogging through mud for at least a month.

I took Hubs some clean clothes because it looks like he’s going to be there for a few more days. He really wants to come home, but his cousin is so happy that he is there to take care of their dog that of course he will stay until they are home.

One of their daughters left WV and made a new life a few states away. They haven’t seen her since COVID, but she packed her two kids into the car and came for a visit. That made his cousin very happy and it probably helped her husband as well.

He has a raging UTI along with pneumonia and congestive heart failure, despite the antibiotics, he still is very out of it and doesn’t recognize his wife of almost 50 years. Hubs has an appointment with his cardio doc in Logan on the 12th so that will probably be the next time he gets to see the fuzzbutts. They are not best pleased by his absence, I don’t feed them right.

We had Mexican for our anniversary late lunch. The Margaritas were most excellent.

I stopped at Aldi on the way home and bought some freezer meat and more cheeses along with some “take and bake” ciabatta rolls. Dinner tomorrow will include baked Smoked, Spicy Gouda and bread and probably not much else because that is a great dinner for me.

When I got home, I tossed his laundry into the washing machine and then tossed the clean and dry stuff onto the bed to fold it. That’s when I noticed that the bed felt wet. Have you ever wished to put a finger in liquid and hope to smell cat pee?

Yeah. Our cats can’t pee that much. I am super pissed. This is the second time in six years that this company failed us, we certainly are not going to get a replacement bladder from them. (For those who don’t know, we sleep on a waterbed.)

I’ve got the bladders drained. I drained both of them because I don’t trust the one that doesn’t have a split seam. That one is going into the trash as well. The water has been mopped up out of the liner and our floors are dry and undamaged. The bedding is being washed and I’ve found a company that has a store in Charleston as well as in Huntington (two stores gives me more confidence than just one store) that sells waterbeds and accessories so hopefully I’ll be able to replace the mattress on Monday.

The fuzzbutts are not happy with this development at all.

All of that sounds great, I hope you have happy mowing for years to come!

While those are all super cute, all of that wet cotton draped over my body would just trap the cold!

Neat! I’m glad you have something to do while you are snowed in! What have your heard about the heat?

Cause you are all smart like that!

We’ve never known our critter’s birthdays until we bought George. Usually we just used their gotcha date with whatever birth year the vet thought.

We know Jolene’s birthday too, she was born in a shelter and they wrote stuff down. We have a copy of her shot record, we know when she had her first spay and when she was adopted and when she was returned. Of course we know her second gotcha day and her second spay day along with all the other vet visits involved.

That looks like it was a lot of fun! Very cool shirt

(As a run organizer, one of the things I did pre-run was schedule with the bar owners and then call them when we were leaving with an estimate of attendees. I did not want them to run out of beer half way through the crowd. )

Well, the lord isn’t very willing tonight, the folks down by the river are getting wet feet as I type. There are evacuation warnings pinging on our phones, but we are in a 500 year flood zone, I’m not even going to bother bringing the kitty carriers in tonight.

You did stuff, you certainly do deserve a nap!

I do know this, but thank you for the reminder. AZ used to have flash floods and even had a Stupid Motorist Law that said if you were stoopid enough to drive past the “Road Closed” signs into running water and had to be rescued, YOU were responsible for the cost to be rescued, not the tax payers. Usually pictures and names would be on the front page of the local section of the newspaper and online.

And people still do it.

I’ve never had that problem, but wonder if you could mix some rubbing alcohol with some aloe jell and then pour that along the seams in the hopes that the alcohol will melt the ice (the aloe jell would be to hold the alcohol to the door seam instead of just running off into a puddle on the floor).

But…remember that I have NO idea about how things work in the cold, so don’t listen to any of my advice until you have discussed it with someone who knows what they are talking about.

I love that one so much!

I’m guessing many churches could benefit by having someone like you involved.

Oh, poor lil girl. I hope her blood work is good.

Do you have any clip earrings? I once managed to put some fake pearls on my long haired white cat and she was so outraged that she held still long enough for a pic.

Well, that was the dryer buzzing, I’d best get to the rest of the bedding so I can get it dry before I try to sleep in my recliner. (I don’t sleep well on my back, the fuzzbutts won’t have enough room, Hubs isn’t here and I don’t have the living room memorized so I can make my way to the bathroom without waking up or walking into walls or shit. @#$%%^)

Seconded!

I brought some work home for the weekend. Not because I had to, but because it’s for my project that I have fun with.

I’ve got to get two documents downloaded and formatted in a particular way.

Got the English version of doc
#1 done this evening, but that’s it for the night.

Will work on the French version of doc #1 tomorrow, and then see if I can do both the English and French versions of doc # 2 tomorrow.

I’m glad you didn’t have any permanent damage from the leak, JtC. Do the waterbed stores make service calls?

Not that I’d work over the weekend, but I had no problem working extra. Until they moved me from salaried to hourly last month. Now I’m working ‘more deliberately’. I can always meet a crunch. And if anyone has a problem with it, ‘Too bad, so sad.’

I didn’t know that water beds were still available, JtC.

38 messages to catch up with; guess I can’t complain (at least not too loudly…). Did go to the gym to watch some indoor soccer, but there was no referee there so I ended up doing two games (because I always bring my ref gear with me , don’t you?). Then immediately went to the gym for a little workout and then home for some nucleated pasta, then off to the gym to coach (we lost 3-4, scoring the tying goal 4 seconds after the clock ran out) and am finally home to stay, at least until tomorrow. So rain is due shortly and it will bring in some cool air, the highs will only get to 50F.

Just finished the evening snack, a chocolate pudding cup, some baby carrots, and a banana. Me eating Healthy; who woulda thunk it?

My bladder is behaving better, 3-4 hours between trips to the bathroom and only about 2 liters out, half of that in the early morning hours; less than half of what I had been losing. Will keep monitoring it and will ask the Doc (maybe via televisit) about it, but not quite as worrisome as it was last week. Maybe getting back into my exercise routine is helping.

Now, lets see what the news of the weird, err, the MMP brought…

cookie, enjoy the new laptop.

oopsie, that is a great-T-shirt, presume it brings back memories (if you weren’t too hung over…)

Hippie, those are great pieces of work, happy sleepage!!

Flyboy, good news on Goo.

It’s all yours.

JtC, never owned a waterbed, and given your frustrations I can’t see that changing for me in my dotage.

And I have read all but my comprehension skills are declining and it gets later. So yays, boos, hugs and general thoughts of well-being to all, and I’ll catch up tomorrow.

Maybe… If it is feline thyroid disease, there are life-long remedies and ‘cures’; but…

I think you were right the first time. Isn’t that part of what we love about the place?

Thank you. Insurance would have covered it, but having warped floor boards fixed would be such a bother.

Happily I’ve never had a waterbed liner fail. Hubs and I have only had three bladders fail and two of them happened with this company. We’ve bought different bladders over the years because the tech has improved, but this is not normal and I am not happy.

While I have never heard of a waterbed store making a service call, I certainly wouldn’t trust this company to fix the issue.

I haven’t told Hubs yet. He’s got enough on his plate and there really isn’t any more he could do but stress.

While I was looking up waterbed stores and maps and stuff, I happened to find a lampshade restoration store. How awesome is that?

Such a niche business, but obviously does well enough to have a store. We bought some lovely beaded lamps from the estate and while I did my best to clean the shades, they still need some love from someone who knows what they are doing.

So, how’s that for a silver lining? I’m going to be waking up in pain because of my sleeping accommodations, we will be putting out a couple of hundred on a new mattress, but I’ve found a place where I can pay more to get some lampshades cleaned than to buy updated ones.

How could they not expect this to cost them time or money? People on salary or WFH almost always work unpaid because they felt like part of the team and wanted to give 110%.

They are also a niche market. Nowadays one can customize their waterbed with anti-wave baffles and soft sides and individual heaters, I hate sleeping on normal mattresses, they are hard and cold and they don’t move. If I took a pic of our bed and posted it, nobody would know that it was a waterbed because it uses normal sheets and such.

Don’t you have a locker?

you are such a good guy, the kids in your area are so lucky to have you.

These frustrations are just because of the business we choose, not because the tech is flawed. One issue in 35 years and different companies vs 6 years, two issues and one company.

But, you would probably hate a waterbed. Your spirit animal is a Siamese Cat

Do Not Change Anything Ever!

The mattress moves with you and that is something that people who are used to sleeping slabs have issues with. Plus, they can be heated and cooled with the seasons and most folks who sleep on slabs are used to the bed being the same temp, but blankets and house temp being adjusted for the seasons.

We had one cat with feline thyroid disease and he lived many happy years with treatment and diet adjustments.

Yep. After almost 18 years, I feel like I’m no longer ‘part of the team’. Now I feel like I’m just an employee. And yes, I’ve taken my computer with me on vacation and have worked while I’m on vacation. No more.

:people_hugging:

I totally understand and I am so sorry. You really did seem to love your job before you got made hourly.

I watched the Canes beat the Utah < insert name here >, took and nap, and now it’s Asian BBQ stir fry and a Sazarac for dinner. Spot is chasing ice cubes in the kitchen, and grunting with pleasure.

Both of you are.

I had 2 beagles in a row(Maggie Wonderbeagle and Nelly K. Beagle) that had such low prey drive that the neighborhood rabbits wouldn’t run away, just keep a 7 foot distance so I wouldn’t trip and fall on them.

This sounds like the plot of a Harlequin romance novel you bought off of Temu.

If I did this Spot would combine lacerations and puncture wounds.

So is Galliano, if you want a Harvey Wallbanger will you bob up in down in your waterbed.

THAT’S “showing its age”?!

Aw, naw.

Do you have somewhere dry to sleep meanwhile?

{ Monkey has hurried out of the chat. }

Didja dip the banana into the chocolate pudding? If not, try it next time!

That’s what you GET for choosing gold instead of silver on that earlier project. See? Karma is a bitch.

That’s friggin’ adorbs.

Well, “short-ish shift” turned into “can you stay to close tonight?” which turned into “if you start X by 11, you can go after that.”

So I got out about 12:20 a.m.

Holy scheduling whiplash, Batman!

Actually worked out well as a happy medium for me: a few add’l hours to (slightly) make up for everything I lost earlier this week, but not having to close, so I won’t be pre-tired going into tomorrow’s nonsensery.

I’m working drive-thru tomorrow; it has been foretold by The Prophecy S.M. which is more than fine by me.
It’ll be cold work, but I’ll be largely insulated from the chaos and additional work/steps/lifting that is the kitchen right now until the damn reach-in replacement arrives.

Meanwhile, after all this “no appetite” bullshit earlier, some good karma gods smiled down upon me tonight.

For I think only the 2nd time in all that I’ve worked there, we had an “oops.”

On a rib order.

Full slab.

I let one of the teenagers have a few of mine (there def weren’t enough to share with the whole class, so ribs turn into kind of a discreet “hush-hush” thing) since she looked hurt at being left out AND hasn’t tried them before. Must remember to ask her tomorrow what she thought … keeping in mind, honey, we are NOT a barbecue joint!

Anyway, I devoured a few while there & have the rest safely esconsed at my feet for future devourin’.

ETA: I didn’t take the whole slab, but on re-read, that’s what it looks like?
Management split them amongst themselves + me, and I let Tiny But Mighty have some of mine.

I think I’ve mentioned her before? I forget which of my colorful cast of everyday crew y’all know about.
