(Old) Spot-ify: The MMP That's The Cat's Meow

Today started with a nice change of pace: one of my company’s buildings is only 2 miles from my house, and one of my employees had to go there this morning for a briefing. I met him afterwards and bought him a cup of coffee – from the cafe in the lobby, vs the iffy free coffee in the break rooms – and we hung out for a little while. We have video Teams chats with each other almost daily, but I hadn’t seen him in person since he was hired back in June.

I passed my local Safeway on the way home, and stopped in because I happened to be out of bananas (and running low on a few other things). In addition to the stuff I needed I picked up some pre-made chicken ceasar pinwheels for lunch, which I hadn’t had in a while: they were quite yummy, and also a nice change.

Waaaay back in December, I learned that the U.S. Supreme Court is trying a lottery for gallery tickets (vs the “get in line early in the morning and hope for a seat” method, which is still available): I requested six arguments in late February/early March. They said that notification would be provided three weeks before the requested argument, and – true to their word – this morning I learned that I wasn’t selected to get a ticket for 02/24. Five more chances to go… :crossed_fingers:

I built the lil’ baby Lego Death Star yesterday afternoon. If anyone wants to see it – and how it’s displayed (hint: it’s behind the landspeeder) – you can visit my Lego photo album. This weekend I’ll order my next big set.

Ha! :joy:

Genius!

The only reason I thought posting the list in the MMPs might be easier is because the FAQ is locked, but I’ll contact a mod about how to get access. Trust me, though: (a) posting the list is super easy and (b) I’d never feel any obligation/requirement to post it every single Monday!

Yay! That’s so good to hear!

That’s part of what’s upsetting me, the fact that so many of you are in that boat after all that fighting, all that courage, all those gains. You’re all welcome in my very blue part of a blue state determined to remain a safe haven in every way it can. I’m looking into how I can help.

Part of the situation with my student was circumstance, honestly. She had so little self-confidence that on her first test, all her answers seemed to be tiny dots until I used a magnifying glass and saw that those dots were actually “I don’t know” written small enough to be on a grain of rice. Somehow her previous teachers missed or misread the signs and didn’t realize she needed a little extra help and confidence. That’s why she trusted me. And she really didn’t have anyone else to trust at that point.

Aw, thank you for your kindness,. (You, too, Boo!) I’m grateful for the opportunities I had.

My fingers are crossed for you! I’ld LOVE to read your observations, so I’ll add some ESP, just in case.

Oh maaaaan… That looks amazing. I’m not averse to saving my pennies for those kinds of special treats, I’ll have to make it a priority.

Political writer Timothy Snyder has taken to calling the ruling bros as Mump (Musk + Trump,) and their minions as Mumpets, who have been Mumpified. Well, they certainly aren’t our kind of Mumpers. Grr.

Aspenglow just helpfully updated the MMP FAQ post!

great news on the remission. it is wonderful when you don’t have to poke the cat, and can relax a bit.

also great news on the job front! another relief.

i forgot to mention that i saw a very odd bicycle this weekend. it was built for 2, with a recumbent bike in front and a “normal” sitting bike in the back. the 2 people were very happy riding the bicycle built for 2.

Home from irk. The boat is coming along nicely. It actually got up to 40 here today, so the driveway will be a skating rink in the morning.

Happy to help. I hope others find it helpful, too.

Thank you (and @Aspenglow) for compiling and posting the list. When I first started reading the MMP I was soooo confused. Metal Mouse’s posts were the only way I could figure most of them out because he responds so consistently using the nicknames.

Also, I’m embarrassed that I’m extremely new here and the top of the list :flushed:

Not even to Gordie? Nelson gets a lot of what’s in your mouth? and indoor voice please.

Did you have to take out a bank loan?

It’s good to hear from you niner! Glad things are going well.

One down and three to go!

It was (is) absolutely gorgeous when I got off irk. A nice, sunny 75F, in February no less.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Why they think that’s an appealing view of them, I have no clue. Then there’s “Get your tail out of my nose”, “It’s nowhere near suppertime and pestering me isn’t going to change that”, “In or out, make up your mind already!”, “You’re going to have to move, I need that chair” (in Buddy’s case, this tends to be followed by “No biting me for moving you!”).

I didn’t have the steak, but the niece’s husband declared the Wagyu the best steak he’s ever had.

I was butt hurt.
Only for a minute.
I went to urgent care, told them about my fall.
She touched my spinal area and even did an x ray.
I saved the clinical summary printout.
Thoracic was mentioned
I received a shot of ketorolac ( toradol) which has relieved the pain. Theres a little down by what would be love handles but its not bad and I can walk normally now.
My bp was 116/72 wow.
I was prescribed ketorolac (10 mg) but it won’t be in til tomorrow.
I am apprehensive as it seems strong ( don’t take it til 8 pm).
Something odd.
It goes on to say
Diffuse degenerate disease is evident.
The intervertabral disc spaces are narrowed with endplate sclerosis.
The lungs are hyperinflated. ( cause I was holding my breath during the x ray?)
I am never short of breath.
Well.
I am glad I went.
I am greatly improved by the shot.

Howdy Y’all! Been a good day at da cave. I made some dang good baked beans and N.O.T. sallit if’n I do say so myself. We had those plus ham and garlic bread for sup. We are havin’ our first pre-Spring this week, so we had beerverages out by the ceemint pond.

Coppertone glad the shot made you feel better.

Up from naptime. It’s bacon cheeseburgers and Old Fashioned night. Spot is doing Spot things.

You had a reverse mid-life crisis. But yay for the good stuff!

Congrats on not being a Blueberry!

Roommate: “Gordie, use your indoor voice.”
Me: “That is his indoor voice”
And Gordie wasn’t into underwear. He prefered stuffies and boy cats.

Glad it helped, and you went.

It was 72F today and my little lemon tree loves being outside in the sun so much that it is sprouting more leaves.

I successfully procrastinated my call to the money guy but got so much other stuff done that it was worth it. I am always super productive when I’m putting off a simple task just because I don’t wanna. I’ve gotten email reports telling me that I didn’t need to call at all, they checked their email and followed my orders.

I did have a few hours to waste stitching. Here is what I have to show for it and there is a big glaring mistake in the first color stitch but I just couldn’t bring myself to rip it out, so I faked it. I’ve gotten really good at that over the years.

You are a pretty awesome mod. Are you assigned to the MMP or do you just visit because you think we are so much fun?

DO NOT FALL!!!

Please???

Well, if I wasn’t grumpy about this whole thing before, I certainly am now. Our beloved Mumpets should never be compared to those guys minions. They bring much more value and joy to us.

I read what you meant and I am so very happy for you and for Junior. I hope things keep looking up, but…well…you know.

Me too, how sweet. Sadie is such a lucky cat to have you for her twilight years.

So Mom got snow today and is not happy. She refuses to use a cane and can’t walk out to the mailbox because she is afraid she will slip and fall. She says she’s not old enough to need a cane despite watching me use one for a decade. (Degenerative disk disease and compressed lower back disks never gets better, it only gets worse.)

Funny story about working while disabled. AZ is hot enough that one can warm their lunch on their dashboard. I learned that if I went out during my morning break and put some (sealed in a plastic bag) pizza between my reflective sunscreen and the windshield that it would be all melty at lunch time. When I got my gimp tag and started parking up close to the back door, people could see my car from the lobby windows.

One day someone saw my pizza in the windshield and caused a building wide debate about the food safety of dashboard cooking. BFF, who at first was against it, learned that it was my pizza and then became the biggest defender of dashboard cooking.

Finally one day when I knew the temp would hit 90F at 0800, I took in some cookie dough and a cookie sheet and baked cookies on my dashboard. Everyone ate the cookies and nobody died, but the debate is still ongoing.

Well back to the stitching, I want to get the rest of the pulled work done tonight. My tension stitches will change in the morning so it is best to do them all at once.

Good evening all. Was a rather ‘meh’ day, did get to the gym for 400 calories worth of walking and gorged myself at 5 Guys just because the scale at the gym showed me under 200 lbs (well, it read 199.2, but that’s still under 200). Outside of that nothing much to report on the day. In a little bit I’ll head off to bed and try to finish the Monday NY Times crossword and take some more time on the Sunday edition. Need to be up reasonably early tomorrow so make the 9:00am surgeon appointment with a full stomach (of Cheerios) and an empty bladder.

Really do need to get back in the habit of posting an afternoon note…

rocky, good luck on the class and sock it to 'em…

52, hope the dental appointment doesn’t get rescheduled into next month…

Welcome home, nellie. Don’t blame you for being discombobulated by something like that; you are one of the more empathic people I know (outside of the rest of the MMP…) and hopefully we can provide some comfort. Oh, and {{{ }}}

FCM, good luck with the taxes. Since my ER trip waited until 20205, I should be ok for this time around. And hoping that the foot doc can do you some good.

flyboy, that’s interesting that Goo knew there was ‘something’ out there.

Oopsie, an outstanding job and good on the others helping out and Bright Tree giving it a semi-permanent home. Might print it out just for reference purposes. And appendages crossed that the lottery comes up with your name.

I am useful! I have purpose!!!

Niner, looked up the Buick Encore, nice little ride, enjoy it. And reading your update, looks like life has been pretty good to you; hope it continues that way.

Coppertone, glad the medication helps. And keep an eye on your health now.

JtC, I don’t think i ever used my car as a baking tin, but kudos to you for being creative.

And it’s heading towards 10pm and I still have one You Tube to watch (guy is visiting the least-used Amtrak stations in each state…yeah, but I’m a train geek and some of those little towns are interesting. Catch up with y’all tomorrow.

Spent a lot of the day writing, punctuated by shoveling our driveway and our 79-y-o neighbor’s driveway. I’ll do our front sidewalk tomorrow.

You’re lovely to say so. Thanks for making my night!

Well, I’m a mod who is assigned to the MPSIMS forum so keeping an eye on threads is part of the job, but ya caught me. You are all so much fun!

Also the normalcy of your day-to-day lives, the pet pics and the quick wits are as soothing as a balm on a chapped ass. And if you’re a mod on the SDMB, your ass is regularly chapped. So I thank you all for making me smile every day.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I have defeated Spot in single combat, so the bed is made. Off to heave.
